My biggest hope for the Remake is that the amount of quests stays high after chapter 2 for your individual camp choice. Incredible. When I first saw the teaser I was truly without hope. But now, I do not know how you changed so much your vision of the game, but you seem to have found the right direction: stick to the original game, adding new, coherent features. I'm now exited. One thing I'd like to stress is the TRUE open world of gothic, and how rewarding is to explore: from day 1 you could go literally everywhere in the map, BUT monsters and danger will not allow you, until you gain the xp. This concept made gothic exploration in the open world SO REWARDING. Please keep that in mind

I don't know if it was at the end of Gothic 1 or the beginning of Gothic 2, I think it was Gothic 2. All I know is that this conversation took place about me wanting the "evil god" to isn't just the evil Super Sauron destroy-everything guy, but part of the equation so to speak. Adanos maintains the balance between these two forces, but he also has a place in the religion of the world. "He will enter Beliar's realm" does not mean go to hell, but simply enter the realm of the dead. Was my original idea. I wanted it that way. And Björn then said [not verbatim]: No, that must be much easier, Beliar is the bad guy and that's it, everything else is somehow too complicated. And then it just went in this evil direction. Thank you so much Kai for the music and for the energy that you put into it, it makes the Gothic atmosphere so special! Very happy to hear new gothic music , it gives warm feeling that all the team is on the right way!
😍 Thank you. We're all very eager to put lots of energy into the project, cause it means a lot to all of us. And it's great to see that it matters to you, too.
❤ Thanks for sharing this. I myself am always impressed by the power with which music connects itself to the feelings you had while you listened to it. It sits in your memory forever, and whenever you hear the same music, it brings back those feelings associated with it. That's powerful. (And with great power comes great responsibility, I know. 😆) All the best to you. I hope you'll enjoy the end result.
No matter what the result will be I want to thank everyone that is participating in this project! If this won't work then no worry we still have good old Gothic, but if this will work out, and everything looks like it is. (as long as you have open mind about it) We will have one banger of a GOTHIC

Thank you, glad you liked it. The team is soaking up every bit of reference, that's for sure. Which ideas and cut content will ultimately make it into the game? We'll have to be patient and wait for the release to find that out. And to me, that's a good thing.
@@timurkhodyrev I don't envy the position you guys are in, it must be really difficult to make a decision on what needs to be modernized. ❤ Danke dir.
What a great idea to keep in touch with even broader community. If I can add something to things that made Gothic unique I would certainly say the size of the open world. Nowadays we are living in the era of super-duper open world games like Skyrim, Assassin's Creed, Zelda, and Witcher 3 which I still really love but the world was definitely to large. And through it I mean there was not enough content to justify the world of this size. Whereas in the Gothic 1 the size of the world was adequate to its content. It was justified. There were no markers signalling "hey come here for some generic loot". I'm looking specifically at you Witcher 3. Whenever I hear Todd Howard or anyone speaking about 1000 planets, I feel tired and loose any sort of will to even play the game. In the case of Gothic 1 I still throughout all these years have map with the location of everything in my mind. It's like data on a disc but in my brain. I remember certain locations because they were unique. And in making the remake there is a potential to make them more unique, expand them and even adding some new also unique places with their own stories. I even liked some places in playable teaser which received fair dose of criticism. I mean specifically the place where nameless hero was first attacked by monsters. I think this location had some really cool design and out of all teaser it remains in my head till now. There is nothing wrong in making big world as long as certain content in it remains unique and evolves which maintains desire of discovery in the players. I wish we can see how throughout a game certain locations were influenced by some events. To have this feeling of rediscovering places we already visited but these did not remain the same. They evolved and now as we come back there, there is something new, something intriguing. Maybe even some new quest/quests. I like to refer to Gothic as to the game which was an open world for people who hate open worlds, and I don't mean it literally. I mean what open worlds represented back then and what they represent here and now. Anyway. Can't wait for upcoming episodes of the podcast and I have one request. Do not hurry. I know some people are asking when the premiere will be, but it does not matter. What matters is to get a good game that works well on every platform. So keep up the good work in peace. Release date is when it is ready.
"An open world for people who hate open worlds" ^^ ... I like that. When the original game came out, the issue of vast and inflated (yet empty) open worlds wasn't as big of a problem as it is today. But I totally agree, the compact and dense experience that the Gothic world size allows is a valuable asset nowadays. Also, I like the idea of locations being impacted by game events. Gothic tried that with the chapter system that introduced new elements, but that's totally something that could be expanded. (my 2cts)
@@KaiRosenkranz As an example what If some events in the game somehow influence daily routine of some NPC/NPCs and we can notice how it evolved. Not necessarily drastically changed but evolved. I'd like you two to also talk about Gothic mythology, religion and it's role in the remake. Also about magic in the world of Gothic. I think it was one of the parts of original game with most untapped potential also for some more diverse gameplay. And I'm writing it as a guy who personally prefers just running around with a melee weapon.
I'll admit it. I'm already in love with the remake. Not just because of what you tell us about the development, but also those beautiful sounds and music tracks. The hype is real. I giggled like crazy when listening to the familiar melodies and the Molerat sounds. That podcast is a great idea!
I'm glad you changed the combat from the teaser and listened to all of us writing feedbacks. Can't wait for the remake, the music gives me goosebumps and gothic series is my number 1 rpg since I've first played it 15 years ago. The living world was something that sold the game for me and can't believe it surpasses even modern games. Good luck with production!
Hopes continuously rising for this remake! Thank you for staying true to the original masterpiece. Big shoes to fit. Please release a soundtrack, because Kai is the finest game composer on Earth.
WOW this gets me excited. The atmosphere was without a doubt my favorite part of G1 - and the reason I prefer it to its sequels - and the music is such a huge part of that. Kai seems to be doing a great job, and the three thirds rule sounds really awesome. All of our old favorites, plus variations, PLUS brand new stuff? AWESOME!
Glad you like it, thank you. The three thirds rule turned out to be a useful guideline for my composing work. Currently, the third third (completely new music) is growing a litte bit, but hey ... "it's more of a guideline than an actual rule". ^^
@@KaiRosenkranz Man, what a great job. I love that you weren't afraid to tweak and update the original where you saw fit. The new Old Camp soundtrack had me literally jumping from my chair, can't wait to hear it in game

Thank you. Glad you liked it. See you in the next episode.
Popłakalem się z radości przy tej muzyce
Aaww, thank you for letting me touch your heart. ❤
@@KaiRosenkranz For complete happiness, I need a release date ( :D) and concert In Extremo in the old camp haha
That dive into the new music was amazing!
Thank you. It was my pleasure diving with you.
@@KaiRosenkranz You have no idea how you made my gothic time with your music. I especially love the music in the second part in Minenthal. Very dangerous, gothic, very atmospheric music in the colony. Gothic is not just a game, but as if part of the soul. I'm really looking forward to the remake. Thanks 🙏
Thank you guys! Really looking forward to play the game on release! GL with development.
Thank you. Me, too.
I hope you guys make a great remake, Gothic diserves one.
It is very cool! Kai is a genius. While listening to new excerpts of compositions, there was an incredible sense of presence in this world. We are looking forward to the game. Thank you very much
Cant wait for it!!! The magic looks amazing thus far :D I want my hands on it NOW! hehe
Good to hear the Gothic Theme again after all this years
Daaaa daaaa dada daaaaaaaa...
That bring me to tears because of nostalgia. Looking foward for the next grp
Thank you so much. It's touching to see our work means something to you.
Thanks. I like your positivity.
Kai Rosenkranz simply the best
Awaken!
Thank you so much for this first GRP. I loved the format and the insights you gave to us. I hope you will manage to restore some of the cut content and finish the work left undone in the original game like the Abandoned Mine, Quentin's gang, underground Orc City. Also please keep Mud just the way he was. We love to feed him to the snappers.
May the Sleeper Awaken!
Thank you, glad you liked it. The team is soaking up every bit of reference, that's for sure. Which ideas and cut content will ultimately make it into the game? We'll have to be patient and wait for the release to find that out. And to me, that's a good thing.
Ahh Gothic music 😌 can't wait to play the remake!
Me neither. I wish I could play it NOW!
Thank you for your encouraging words! 🤗
@@KaiRosenkranz May Innos light your way!
@@KaiRosenkranzthank you for your music, Kai!
It's amazing
I'm impressed that they've decided to completely scrap the teaser, that's time and money spent. Good luck fellas
Because the feedback is very important for us! This game is first of all for fans!
@@timurkhodyrev I don't envy the position you guys are in, it must be really difficult to make a decision on what needs to be modernized. Resident Evil 4 Remake and System Shock remake are in a way two polar opposites where RE4 has alot of big changes, while SS is extremely true to the source (for some people to a fault but not to big fans of the original).
Maaaaan this brings back memories...i have literally tears in my eyes 🥺
Gothis is an absolute passion for me, i've two costumes from the games and return to it every year, sometimes with a mod, sometimes vanilla.
I am so glad to see Kai Rosenkranz dedicated to this project - his sound design and music contributed to the amazing atmosphere of the oiriginal games. So i am more than eager to see how his influence in the project will turn out! :)
Thank you THQ
Thank you. It's passionate people like you who keep our beloved games alive. I hope you'll like my contribution to the remake. Also, great to see you here in the comments. I've seen you, your costumes and parts of your collection on Discord. Impressive! ❤
@@KaiRosenkranz Thank you Kai. You know i admire your work for the gothic series and i cannot tell you how excited i am to see your next contribution! :)
Im in tears.
That's good, isn't it? Thanks for letting us into your heart.
Thanks for that although there was nothing to see it was still fun to hear you guys and the game sounds 👍
Close your eyes and you'll see everything in your mind.
16:36 It's the same Feeling of coming home like in the Original! 😍I love it!
Great to hear that. I was hoping to achieve that "same feeling". Thanks.
I'm not going to lie, I had to put on headphones for the music portion of the podcast. Its soo good!
I appreciate that you wanted to enjoy the music in the best possible way! Thanks.
I'll admit it. I'm already in love with the remake.
Not just because of what you tell us about the development, but also those beautiful sounds and music tracks.
The hype is real. I giggled like crazy when listening to the familiar melodies and the Molerat sounds. That podcast is a great idea!
Thank you so much. It's our pleasure to make you giggle.
Thank you Kai! Good idea with podcast!
Thank you for both. Glad you liked it.
This is absolutely insane! Love it!
Looks like best decisions about remake music. I can't wait to come back to the colony!
Thank you! I was hoping you guys would enjoy it. See you in the colony!
Wow, it's so much amazing. Can't wait for it to be released.
The music is so good
Great initiative. I love it!
Glad to hear that.
Great! Kai and Reinhard thank you very much!!!
It's our pleasure (really!), and thanks back to you.
I’m looking forward to this remake so much, I can still remember the first time I played the original!
Nostalgia is such an important aspect of this project. I feel the same.
Love it! Cant wait for more!
Thanks. Me neither! 🤩
das muss erstmal abonniert werden. War lang nix los hier im Sumpf. Gute Arbeit.
Great job! Thanks!
Many thanks!
Willkommen in der Kolonie!
Hab' jetzt irgendwie den Faustschlag ins Gesicht erwartet.
Looking forward to the remake of this amazing game! Good job so far guys!!
Nice idea to place the podcast inside the world itself. :)
I thought so, too. Until we ran into M... nevermind. ;)
This is so nice! Thank you for everything! It is so good to see people who care about their fan-base so much
Thanks back to you for your appreciation. It's our absolute pleasure to be in touch with you guys. You mean so much to us.
cant wait to pre-order this masterpiece
Hopes continuously rising for this remake! Thank you for staying true to the original masterpiece. Big shoes to fit.
Please release a soundtrack, because Kai is the finest game composer on Earth.
It's fun to hear
Kai is the master of music circle
Everything in this podcast sounds really good, i hope it also will be :D
WOW this gets me excited. The atmosphere was without a doubt my favorite part of G1 - and the reason I prefer it to its sequels - and the music is such a huge part of that. Kai seems to be doing a great job, and the three thirds rule sounds really awesome. All of our old favorites, plus variations, PLUS brand new stuff? AWESOME!
Glad you like it, thank you. The three thirds rule turned out to be a useful guideline for my composing work. Currently, the third third (completely new music) is growing a litte bit, but hey ... "it's more of a guideline than an actual rule". ^^
Genius intro!
The music sounds phenomenal!
😍 Thanks.
@@KaiRosenkranz Man, what a great job. I love that you weren't afraid to tweak and update the original where you saw fit. The new Old Camp soundtrack had me literally jumping from my chair, can't wait to hear it in game
@@themakutron So kind of you to say that, thank you! You'll hear more old camp music in the next episode.

I hope they release that beautiful music asap.
Thank you Kai and Reinhard!

Cheers from Romania! 🍻
Great idea with creating a podcast, I interested how using magic will looks
Yes, I love this Game❤
When the teaser was released I was really sad because it had nothing to do with Gothic how we know it, but now I really start to trust in your vision of the remake.Kai, your Music is still stuck in my head and in my heart after so many years. You are the best.Thank you for sticking as much as possible to the original. Please dont forget our other favorite game in the future. Gothic 2 ❤
Thanks for your kind words. We're fully focused on Gothic 1 right now. But should a remake of Gothic 2 ever be considered, I'd love to be on board.
I cannot wait for this, to return to Gothic... so beautiful.
dudes... this was pure awesomeness! When are we getting episode 2? Praised be Innos! Gloried be his name!
Thank you. Not sure yet when episode 2 will come out. Awaken! :-]
Fantastic job bringing the spirit of the well-known Tracks to life like this! But I didn't expect anything else from Kai 😁
Really a very nicely produced podcast guys 😉 I'm already looking forward to the upcoming episodes!

As a guy who was 4 years old when i was thrown into the colony the first time - i just cant wait … 😢❤
PS: you kept the combat system original.. this is so important!!
It will not be 1:1. It will be inspired and based on the original one.
