Because he never tried to do this for fame or riches, he generally loves guns and what he does
A youtuber did a ballistics review on this gun. He shot through cloth, denim, beef ribs, lungs and other parts. It basically shattered the ribs and pulverized the meat into mush. Small size, 11 rounds, low recoil. Physical proof that this gun is no joke.
It is not something to mess with.
Paul Harrell reviewed it also, however his advice (I agree with) to practice head shots because of caliber, however with 22 stingers from cci, they did expand in his “meat target”
Saw that video. It changed my mind!!
"We're at the range today, so bare with any gunfire you hear in the background"
Until you get shot back at with 9MM b/c your POS .22LR didn't do it's job fast enough; so you both die but your attacker, maybe later at the hospital....or he may even survive.
I have to say that through many years of LE, the many I observed shot with a 22lr. Were deceased. Every single one of them. Just some food for thought.
Yes it does not matter the size of the exit hole if hits a major organ😀
@@jamesfiegel9675 , or the Central Nervous System.
50 cent was shot numerous times with a 9 mil. If it was a 22, he'd have died at the first shot to the face that he took. Fast enough to go in, slow enough to stay and scramble.
@@marshalldcarpenter 50cent 😂🤣😂
@@marshalldcarpenter IDK. There's a video I saw of a lawyer being shot point blank in the head with a .22 by a disgruntled customer and he survived similarly to 50 Cent.
I would bet you that every woman that has been abducted could have changed their outcome with that pistol.
Especially, if the first shot hit the abductor in noggin...
10 rounds too, aim could be terrible but you'd hit them atleast once

@@RjGold5.12haha I’m so anatomy brained that I sat here for 10 seconds trying to think of what part of the brain is called the abductor 😂🤪 still working on my coffee chief lol
A handgun chambered in 22 for self defense is better than a rock.
Or a sharp stick .
I have the original LCP. Can’t hit anything beyond 10 yds with it.
@@Wooster77 I have one too. Bought when they first came out. I'm a horrible shot with it.
Wooster a lot of people can’t hit anything with any pistol beyond 15 yards.
That would be a compelling argument if you could only carry .22LR. Luckily, you can carry .380 and 9mm, and Ruger even chambers the LCP in those.
A quote from another RUclips reviewer on this pistol "You start poking holes in people they tend to leave you alone" ...
Jeff said that! He’s the man too!
Sounds like someone with a long beard .
A friend of mine once told me that if the need to defend yourself arises. And you shoot the threat in the face with a .22. It will make the threat stop doing whatever was going on that made you shoot. I can't swear to that statement as being totally true. But it bears credence with me. Because the .22 mini mags I shoot from my .22s are something I believe to be quite effective. And I consider the .22 to be as lethal as most anything else.
Dean Tibbetts I couldn’t agree more
Nice! And True...
I have this exact gun and LOVE it. Whenever I practice at the range, I start off with this guy then move on to my other guns. It's fun to shoot, accurate, and great for target practice. Although I carry either a .380 or a 9mm, this would be an excellent concealed carry. In fact, my sister-in-law carries this one. As they say, the best gun to carry is the one you're comfortable to shoot.
My wife carries one. She literally cannot work the slide on any other pistol except this one.
Hi i bought this for my fiance due to the fact shes a 1st time shooter with no experience as like a beginner gun and shes having a hard time handling my larger firearms they a little to bulky and heavy and she likes the safty aswell for peace of mind. its just for emergency sitting in the safe im viewing it as a first step for her then upgrade when shes comfortable. Do you feel that firearm does its job? Do you feel comfortable with it?
@@live2fishrourke35 yes indeed! I love it, I had my teenagers start with it and they’ve both really enjoyed it. Perfect first gun and I still love to shoot it
@@elizabethmilligan7173 thankyou for tbe feedback any suggestions for the most reliable ammo that wont cause any malfunctions i know. 22lr can be a bit picky or aslong as you keep it clean and lubricated shoud we not run into any problems?
This gun can get many shots on target in a very short time with little effort. That's a big deal for me.
I’ll always carry my .45 but if all I could afford was a .22 to shoot and practice with, I would do it. Don’t underestimate the 22lr. My wife is a surgical nurse at a trauma 1 hospital near Dallas and she has some stories worth listening to on the subject.
I'll always believe a guy in Carhartt's' with a Band-Aid on a different part of his hands each week.

Gotta admit 10 rounds for such a tiny pistol is pretty outstanding.
@Paladine the tx22 has a 15 round magazine I believe.

@Ben Smith i have the lcp2 .380 with the factory 7 round mag. 8 rounds in a pocket pistol is pretty good.
@@regan.8077 TX22 is no pocket pistol, it's much bigger.
I think this will definitely appeal to people who believe whatever small gun you have with you is better than the gun that was left at home because it's too heavy or too big.
Picked one up 2 weeks ago. 500 rounds through it and it's fantastic. $300 great little plinker and a cozy pocket gun.
It's so much fun to shoot
Sadly $520 out the door here in Cali
22 in your pocket beats a 45 in the night stand every day
That’s why you keep a .45 in your pocket

22 is definitely a lethal round, you do not wanna get hit with it
I believe a small weapon like this should be a great concealed pocket pistol you know alot of people underestimate the power of a .22lr of the damage it can cause its a perfect pocket pistol low recoil and super light even loaded!
It’s funny how everyone says don’t ever carry one for defense but no one I know of wants to be on the receiving end of a .22 LR.
One of our VPs received a 22 round to the back when he was a kid. It's caused him a lifetime of pain, surgery and disability.
I think it has far more to do with the increased odds of a misfire with it being rimfire. Sure it’s not a powerful round, but it not shooting when you want it to is much more worrisome for me personally.
The old saying - It's better to be missed by a 44 magnum than to be shot in the forehead with a 22 long rifle .
@@outragequitter5027 Buy high quality ammo that works well in your gun. I'll take a 3% chance of misfire over no chance at all.
busymountain i mean i think its more they RATHER carry something bigger which is reasonable. doesnt mean a 22 wont hurt or kill
I spend a lot of time in a wheelchair, so I wouldn't
do very well with someone beating me up.
But I know that I can make you let me go If I
have that 22 ruger in my hand.
I too am a wheelchair user and I would feel plenty safe with ten rounds of stingers.
Stay safe out there please defend yourself
I do not appreciate either of them looking down on us that have to make the choice of a .22 or nothing. I would have preferred the approach of "I discourage .22 for self defense. If you must, here is what you may need to know"
Their are some easily concealable 9mm with light recoil if that's your thing like the ec9s. 22s are nice until you get that one guy who goes into fight mode. The name of the game is to incompasinate. 10 seconds is a long time in a self defense scenario to wait for someone to fall over. Adrenaline is a hell of a drug. Ruger even says 22 is not meant for self defense
@@vesical7952
Although you make a good point, self-defense doesn't always mean to incapacitated or terminate the aggressor.
But to create a break in contact. 22lr with good shot placement is able to accomplish this goal. If pepper spray mace is able to accomplish this and many people carry mace for self-defense.
Why are people hesitate to carry a 22lr for self-defense? With good ammo (CCI mini mags), they are very reliable.
But carry what you feel more comfortable with.
God bless and stay safe and healthy.
I got one for Christmas and put 50 rounds through it and I love it!
Thats a good gift.

Way back when I was a kid shooting .22 rifles I always remember the warning on the box of shells. I believe it stated "DANGEROUS WITHIN ONE MILE". I like my .380 and my 9mm, but if all I had was that .22 so be it.
I think now some are 1 1/2 miles.
Picked one up earlier this year. It came used with 3 mags and the pocket holster for $275. I have probably close ro 500 rounds through it and I absolutely love it. I prefer revolvers, but this little gun is just amazing. My step mom and sister both like to shoot it and they both weigh around 100 pounds. Awesome little gun.

.22 pistols are all-day-range-shooting fun.
my grandfather had a few carry options but for 2 decades he decided to carry a beretta bobcat in 22LR...the 22 is such an underated self defense round no one wants to be shot even with a spitball so a few 22 holes will scare most people off and a lucky shot to something important can end the situation quick...that said I still like my 9mm haha
There is a really neat study on lethality and caliber. 22lr actually had the same lethality in a self defense situation as i think 357. When they went into why, shot placement. 22lr is far far more accurate in a self defense situation vs other rounds. As a result of less recoil and sound, scared victims place rounds in spots that drop humans.
How you doing, Cutlery Lover? You go way back, I think even prior to OUR getting started, or around the same time maybe.
bobcat has been my first carry gun. Too bad mine has been not super reliable. I got one of these and have had no malfunctions. if only they put an extractor on the bobcat, it would have been perfect.
Cutlerylover I was a xray tech in a major trauma hospital, I worked mainly the er at night and actually we saw more people come in shot and killed with 22lr than any other caliber. The reason for this is when it enters the body it begins tumbling and it may go in a none lethal area but by the time it travels and tumbles through the body it has done a lot of damage. I xrayed one guy where the 22lr went in his shoulder and we found the bullet in his abdomen
And the ammunition is dirt cheap, so you can exercise until you don't need luck to hit something important.
Hi Hickock45. Thank you for the many years of your educational and captive videos. You are a patriot and I’m so glad I found you on RUclips so long ago. God bless
I carry a glock 19 gen 3 everyday, have for many years. I would definitely 100% feel comfortable carrying this for self defense. Looking forward to picking one up!
Your back will thank you. Great little gun.
I tried doing that. Lasted one day. Switched to G26 and never looked back. But this little Ruger is a great secondary.
Hickok’s last words:
“We’ve enjoyed your company. Life is good.”
Agreed. And, if he knows his death is imminent , he'll say, "Life was good."
Déjà vu indeed; one hour ago I was watching an old Hickock45 video about the LCP, I took my shower and coming back, alas! another LCP. This is great. Thank you Mr. Hickock45 for making these trying days less hard. May God Almighty bless and keep safe you, your loved ones and all those who watch your videos. As you always say, Life is Good!
First range trip today. 300 rounds of cci mini mags. 3 light primer strikes. Fun little shooter. Second range trip and the trigger broke. Sent it to Ruger for repair. Got it back within a week and still broken! Off to Ruger for a second time.
Glad you got around to reviewing this nice little pistol, Hickok45! I handled one of these a couple weeks back at my LGS. Extremely easy to rack (thumb and forefinger sufficient for me), easy to handle, very light weight even loaded and very easy to conceal... good trigger... IMO a very good choice for an older person or someone with physical/strength disabilities. Even this little .22LR self-defense option is 100% better than no firearm at all. Disclosure: my old EDC was an LCP II in .380 and switched about two years back to the LC9s for EDC.
I like a big round, I shoot a .45, but I've seen a lot of big men run from hornets.
Most defensive use of handguns don't involve firing a shot. Not a reason for carrying an ineffective gun, but a lot of people don't want to be shot by anything.
Please tell me what sort of bullet you don't run from...
It's metal going fast toward me. I'm going to get out of the way regardless if it's 40-70 Govt, 50 Beowulf or a .22 LR.
hyperfocal2002. I had to brandish my LCP .380 one day, a guy jumped out of his car at me with a pipe my lcp was out of my pocket instantly and he stopped as soon as he saw it, he literally froze In his tracks which was a good thing for him because once my gun came out of my pocket I completely prepared myself to shoot the guy if he took another step towards me
Still waiting for someone to manufacture a gun chambered in hornets.
**Slowly raises hand in shame**
My father got one of these and I got him a two pack of mags on eBay for 39 bucks and we have almost 900 rounds through it and it’s malfunctions are now few and far between and we love it
I'd bet most of those malfunctions were the ammo or magazine. That's how most guns are, but especially with .22lr rimfire
All the malfunctions was a ammo that wasn’t hot enough but for some reason we can feed it Remington gold pack 36 grain ammo all day and have no problems
I also bought the 2 pack from ebay. Thanks
It’s a fun plinking gun and the two pack of mags makes it a lot better
Mine doesn't like anything Winchester, 1 or 2 malfunctions per mag. It eats cci all day long tho, can't remember 1 malfunction yet.
The speed loader that comes with the gun makes reloading much better.
My grandma can’t handle any recoil but she’s an old cowgirl and can pull off multiple shots with this with ease!!
Genius!
I don't know of anyone who will stand there and get shot with 11 CCI Velocitors. If they do I think they may just bleed out pretty quickly!
The velocitors are a good hot round. They however don’t fully expand out of a short hand gun barrel.
Cci stingers will expand from this gun though, see Paul Harrell’s review on it.
Yea, yea, everybody's laughing at the 22 LR. Getting hit by that will still ruin your day big time. Especially with its tight groupings.
And potentially much higher capacity
CCI .22 Segmented Rounds will also ruin your day.
A 22lr is no joke if it doesn't kill you you'll be shitting in a bag for the rest of your life
Was a juror on a capitol murder trial where a 16 yr old gang banger killed an illegal alien with a .22. Couldn't believe the damage done after reading the coroner's reports. Been shooting .22s for over 45 years and have a whole new respect for them after that trial.
Johann Swart
A 22 LR revolver was used in the assasination of Bobby Kennedy . They are deadly at close range . 22 LR kills more people in the USA than any other caliber
Got this for the wife for training and her concealed carry. You can say all you want that this isn’t a concealed carry gun, but she struggled with the recoil and racking of a 9 since she’s 5’9” and 110lbs soaking wet (basically no muscle haha) I’d so much rather her have this than nothing.
FYI - Aguila ammo is great in the gun. Both jacketed and HP work well.
Videos like this are why I'm still subscribed. Thanks, hickok

Best comment period and the perfect reason to own a 22 pistol. Just picked mine up today. I have a ruger Ec9s. But I don’t like paying to shoot my 9 all the time and not be able to buy dinner. 🤣
Thank you for doing this review my coworker just bought this firearm to carry on him. He hides it on his person very well.

That 22 hits and at close range is a deadly round!
This gun is fantastic. I carry it with a Kydex holster. Whenever Im in the front of the house with the kids or a quick trip to the store. With gym shorts, you forget you even have it on cause its so light. My G26 is still my go to but when ur outside doing yardwork or walking with the kids, its just too big. I will not lie. I purchased this pistol for a secondary self defense pistol. Right now ammo is scarce and I’ve got plenty of .22. I’m confident that if this is all I had, I can stop a bad guy. However, this is certainly not all I have nor a 1st resort.
It's really not desinged to be a self defense pistol? Tell that to the guy who's got a 22 rattling around in his skull.
Factemundo Raymundo!
Tru dat 😁
People are constantly making the argument that the round is too weak, my friends dad was out hunting and took a stray 30-06 round to the temple and was hospitalized with no major wound and no long term damage. Obviously it was probably from way way out of range but still the cartridge really isnt everything. If you get shot with anything you wont be happy.
Well, sure, but did you see what happened with the blue soda? Sure, it died, but not before it had a chance to shoot back.

Always a pleasure !!! Thanks for being you !!!
Whether its good for self defense or not, the sheer fun value of a .22 cannot be beat.
11 rounds. 11 ounces with a safety. No .380's or .32's in this category. I would totally carry this. Watch the Reagan shooting to see what a .22 can do.

@@Evergreen1400 what is the weight fully loaded?
Riley Senn The LCP II in .380 is about the same weight as the .22 version. I'm obsessing on 11 rounds in that tiny gun. Throw another mag in your pocket and you have 21 rounds at hand. Plus I'm in the minority that likes safeties. That safety looks handy, unlike other small autos where you have to dig your thumb in to get at the safety.
@@matt5415 I'm good with safeties as well, although the function on this model is awkward
Great point.
I was going to wait for the price to drop down but, I wanted the gun more. And I am glad I bought it. Ruger did hit a home run out of the park with the LCP II 22LR. Light weight, small, accurate, easy to take apart and clean, fires bulk ammunition without any misfires. What more can anyone ask for. It is a fun gun to shoot and a good self defense weapon no matter what anyone else says. Shot placement determines who will live in a shoot out and the 22LR is easier to keep on target than a larger caliber.

Had it out with the wife and she liked it so much I had to go get her one for a backup carry, 300 rounds through hers and no issues there either. Like was said in the video, it is strangely nice feeling in the hands for the size of it and a fun little .22 plinker. This pistol may have just put my Ruger SR22 on the chopping block.

The manual safety is easy to sweep forward to turn to fire and harder to move from fire to safe mode. Also it comes with a mag loader that is not on the table. The mag loader helps a lot.
Great vid Hickok45! I own one of these, and it is surprisingly accurate. Fun plinking gun, and no jams with hot ammo!!!!
practice with a 22 is cheap when a stress situation occurs practice really pays off
Take it easy and appreciate y’all from Texas ^^
The most effective use of this in self defense is the deterrent stop. AKA, the bad guy sees you have a gun and rethinks his life choices. Which is pretty common. Apart from that, learning to accurately shoot a pocket pistol can be pretty hard and having a .22 to train with is a great thing.
Problem with that is that it's easier to learn to control recoil if you use a larger caliber. I only say this from experience. I started with a .45 acp after trying to actually use a 9mm as my starter.
You shouldn't be pulling your pistol, nor advertising or brandishing your concealed carry pistol. You only pull it to serve the target when the assailant is going to hurt or kill you or someone else or already has a weapon and is approaching and verbally threatening.
@@linzmcgeorge I think his point was that we'd all like to have a bad situation end safely for us without anyone dying. It certainly will have much less paperwork than waiting til the absolute last nanosecond and sending lots of bullets all over the place.

That's great. Just beware with these tiny guns, it's easy to put your hand in front of the muzzle, compared to a longer gun.
I have been waiting for this video, thank you!
I have the LCP 2 in .380. I just bought the LCP 2 in .22lr. That's what brought me to your video. I bought the .22lr version so I could practice & plink a lot cheaper than shooting my .380 version.
"That's pretty much the dope on it." Oh, gun grandpa, I love you.
With the little recoil the LCP 2 22lr has, one can much easier hit sensitive spots on an attacker and add several more rounds in the same location to stop the attacker if needed. So, I feel the 22lr can be an effective self-defense option for the less experienced shooter.
