It may be weak, but consider that in a lot of situations Having a Gun at all can scare most people. even if its a plinker. And in self-defense your probably going to be WEll inside the bullets effective range. A lot of Self-defence hinges less on active confrontation and more on the Mental resolve of the attacker
A man in Florida was shot in the lower leg with a .25 and died 3 days later. The bullet got into an Artery and traveled to his Heart, caused the blockage that killed him.. I got shot with a BB gun as a kid, wouldn't want to take even a CB cap from a .22.
Found a brick of 525 for $50 at Dunham's yesterday. Put that shit on layaway along with a Savage 64 (the last one they had in stock). Could have bought it then but my ID was expired...
Truth, people can be snobs when it comes to a personal carry gun. Truth is, a 22LR is the only option for many people, think about your vulnerable elderly relative with arthritis. They are not going to be shooting a .357 magnum.
And remember guns are supposed to be comforting, not comfortable. But in this day and age with all the carry options. Pretty hard to want to chose a 22 over a 9mm .....the only caveat is if your an elderly person as said
@@compelledpluto well I have a beretta m9 22lr and they are VERY reliable, almost unbelievably so. But when I see vids of guys eating 12, 9mm bullets before they decide to stop and drop. Means I would only shoot at a man with a 22. If I had some distance 😆
Ever since the ammo shortage, I’ve been using my little .22 LCP as a carry gun in the summer. I already have federal punch ammo in it, so it’s nice to see that it is effective to the extent a .22lr can be effective.
That’s doesn’t even make sense, you can’t afford a magazines worth of ammo to carry around? Life is not a video game, you’re not just walking around shooting shit.
I have met this guy a couple of times at the NRA conventions. He is genuinely one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. I have the laminated playing card he shot and gave to my kids proudly displayed in my living room!
2021: The year where the mugger need to use knife to perform robbery because ammo are too expensive. Defender need to use katana defend themselves due to the same reason.
@bali song bla bla bla only rich people deserve to protect themselves. This is how people like you end up loathed and no amount of $50 heat seeking cartoon rounds will save you.
I'm one of those that fall into the arthritis category. Getting old sucks. My mind says I can hike that mountain trail easy. My body says "watchu talkin' 'bout, Willis?" I've been focusing more and more on my .22 pistols the past few years.
@Ben Anderson Thank you, Ben. My next purchase is going to be the LCP II for conceal carry. Glad to hear you like it. My Ruger SR22 is still my favorite, but I have a feeling the LCP II is going to change that.
Anyone remember .22 Short “Rockets?” They were, as I recall, 28 grain plastic bullets. It was advertised as frangible and would break up upon impact. I loaded up my .22 rifle, aimed at a 2 x 4 25 yards away and launched several of the little plastic rockets. They were as loud as .22 Long Rifle and seemed quite fast. I walked down to the 2 x 4 and was stunned. All three had zipped right through the 2 x4s! Later I read that the muzzle velocity was approximately 1600 feet per second.
I bet these would be pretty unimpressive out of a rifle compared to the real fast Aguilas, Stingers, etc. since they’re optimized for little short barrels and fire such light bullets. Those other rounds are designed for rifle barrels and use heavier bullets, that’s why Stingers and stuff are pretty terrible in pistols, they burn very little of their powder in that tiny barrel, but in a rifle they can burn it all. There wouldn’t (or at least shouldn’t) be nearly the long-barrel advantage to something specifically tailored to short barrels.
Thank you mr plinkster for informing me about these. Have run almost a brick of these through my ruger lcp2 22 with a galloway precision reliability kit installed. They go bang when they are supposed to every time thus far with no signs of changing. It is a beautiful thing to be able to plink in the back yard every evening with the same gun and rounds i carried all day. This promotes me to shoot every day just to expend the sweat covered rounds I’ve carried all day in my pocket. Love your channel. Anyone looking for these in the comments section, they can be had off federal’s website as of yesterday. There has only been a couple times i have looked there over the last year that they were out of stock, a week later they were back.
I worked in a level 1 trauma center in Houston. Half of my patients getting shots by this caliber and it might not kill them but their injuries were significant.
I have a spinal cord injury, and I cannot point a heavy weapon without experiencing severe pain. The 22 is the only weapon that I've been able to extend in a firing position comfortably. And I am very accurate with it
Have you tried .32 S&W and also .32 H&R magnum, or .32acp? I am not knocking the .22LR and .22mag. I enjoy both rimfire cartridges. I am just curious if you have tried any .32s; especially, given that recoil for the .32 S&W is low, plus those firearms are not heavy. Granted my .32s knowledge is based upon reading online and also watching videos. As it is something I have become interested in since I to have spinal problems, and thinking a lighter firearm for edc would be nice; especially, one with more to it than .25 acp. (Not that I dislike my .25 acp)
Comfort and accuracy are king. I use Aguila Interceptor in one of my carries. I haven't done any ballistic tests but I don't need to. It screams and has been very reliable.
@@NCR_Ranger I like the weapon that I have. And the hell of a lot more accurate with my 22 and I am with a 9 mm or a 38. You shoot what you want and I will shoot what I want. And I would lay money on my shooting a lot better than you lol
@Common Sense Realist Yeah, but WHAT GUN did you use send it? A 2" pocket pistol or an 18" rifle? This bullet has 74 ft. lbs of muzzle energy from an 18" barreled rifle. From a pocket pistol like the Ruger he's using, you'd have to hold the barrel next to the skull to make any kind of hole.
In the mid 90's when I was a kid roaming the woods with my first winchester semi auto 22lr I would buy the Remington Brick pack of 550 rounds for $7 at walmart back when they had stocked shelves and cared about gun owners and hunters.
@@rtz7420 So....take even more weight out of a puny 32 grain bullet. That’s really smart. You do know the stinger only reaches 1,600 feet per second only when it’s shot through a 16 inch rifle barrel...right? Your 1911 clone in .22LR is probably shooting only about 900-1000/second. Trust me, if Speer/CCI knew that an extra 1/8 inch cavity made any ballistic improvements, they would gladly like to sell you less lead from that bentz chambered 32 grain cartridge. Also, I won’t confuse you with the chambering misfitting people are doing everyday by shooting that long Stinger casing in a regular 22LR chamber. Those rounds are so inaccurate compared to standard velocity lead rounds.
@@captainjack8823 The problem with the stinger out of a little pistol is that it it’s moving too slow to properly expand. It’s like people who run .223 out of super short barrels. You are taking away the one thing that made it super effective. So you are probably better off finding a heavier flat point load that gives you the best real life velocity out of the pistol. Like an interceptor or viper. My problem with .22 is that rimfires simply can’t be trusted to go bang 100% of the time. Though they are quite reliable with new computerized production techniques.
I did test shooting at a orange with different LR ammo from my 5,5" barrel pistol. Normal led bullets would go straight trough with little damage, but led hollow points would explode the orange and CCI stinger with copper jacket and a small hole in the tip did totally obliterate the orange so badly that I got wet at the 4 m / 4 yards shooting distance...
My philosophy with self defense carry is you have to be quick and accurate. And those two things come with practice and being comfortable with a gun. But another big difference is that someone with a .357 mag may only need one shot to down someone, but that's good because they probably only can get off one accurate shot. With a .22 you can get of a dozen shots in rapid succession and be on target. Plus they tend to be much smaller and easier conceal carry weapons compared to even compact 9s and 45s
As of two years ago I started using Federal Punch and my tests in different materials showed good results ! I also carry the CCI Velocitor and have used it for a number of years , good quality .22 ammo !
Great video...the gel block says it! Every prepper/survivalist should have .22 rifle and pistol. I love semiautos but the single shot bolt action rifle, and revolver are super dependable. My kids/grandkids all learned on remington model 512 single shot bolt action and began learning right off the one shot wisdom....no "spraying"rounds downrange wasting ammo. When we were kids hunting deer/elk/antelope we were handed 3 rounds, get it done or go home to lots of ribbing because you still had an unused tag!
Good video demonstration of the 22LR Federal Punch in ballistic gel and especially versus the CCI Stinger. A pistol beats NO pistol even if it's a 22LR. I would imagine 8 rounds of Federal Punch fired from a S&W 43C at 7 feet distance would effectively break contact with the aggressor.
I think that the deciding factor was the larger barrel. With ammunition as small as the .22, there's not much room for different types of bullets. What you want from the manufacturer is consistency and reliability.
Meu muito obrigado por compartilhar conosco, tempo, dedicação e conhecimentos sobre este assunto... Um forte abraço aqui do centro sul do Rio Grande do Sul, em Brazil...
Great video. .22lr self defense looks to be ideal for my wife. She has always loved her S&W. Easy reload, high capacity magazine. Having multiple magazines is ideal for her home defense.
I've been practicing my archery skills since the 'Rhona and the gun buying craze . Excuse me if I fletch an attacker with a 110 grain broadhead launched from my Bear Archery Grizzly recurve . Nobody will never hear the soft twang of the bowstring and the hiss of an arrow shaft as it strikes the target .
Just hit your kids instead, you get the same joy and it's free. Worst case, they take them away, boom....u just saved a bunch of money, your basically a financial advisor.
very cool, i own a LCP 2 22caliber pistol. i like Remington ammo, and Federal, i prefer Federal, but the Remington, no misfire, stovepipe, and because of you i also own the Tippmann micro elite pistol. i go to the range twice a month to practice. a 22 well placed shot is better than a 9mm out of trying to recover target 2nd shot i can place 3 rounds very quick. plus i have arthritic hands. being 66 years old. thank you for that video. will be ordering Federal Punch for sure!!
Tested a minimum 200 hundred rounds in EACH of Ruger LCP II 22LR, Keltec P17 (3 different P17's actually!), Ruger 10/22, Keltec CP-33. Worked flawless in all except for the quad-stack CP-33. I actually couldn't load the magazine properly since they kept going into rim lock. Under a magnifying lens you can see the rim of the 22LR Punch is circular, versus rounded corners like most else. This makes the Punch a no-go for CP-33. Not a big deal, just put the stingers back in. Not one misfire in 1000 rounds though. This is phenomenal reliability from any bullet, let alone a rimfire.
@@ForceMultiplier LOL thanks it's a great tip for 22 ammo but you missed the part about the shape of the primer rim is too rounded for the angle of the rounds in the cp33 mag. Even with properly seating every round, after 2 or 3 they just pop into rimlock when you insert another. Ruger's 10/22 mags are perfect since they curve and work with the punch great. Probably better to use stingers in a rifle since you get expansion with the additional velocity. Otherwise, the punch are perfect and I have had zero failures in any of the pistols I mentioned. The P17 or TX22 with the punch suppressed would be a great wet work or defense tool. Never thought I would say that about 22....
Late to the party but nice video. Been a .22 fan for a very long time. I know it's limitations but fact is, most people don't want to get shot with anything. 😉 As for this bullet vs Stingers, I've shot cast lead SWC in my .44 mag forever and they are devastating. Punch a clean hole and the hydrostatic shock turns things into mush. Not saying this .22 can do that but the bullet shape obviously makes a good wound channel. Rock on!
Mine was more along the lines of.... Damn near everyone in America: "It would be great to be able to buy some 9mm". Federal Ammunition: "Check out this re-invented wheel! All factory staff, to the 22lr line!"
As if the real problem with ammo shortage isn't the millions of people buying like crazy (and especially the a**holes who buy up whole shelves just to resell it), lets totally blame the overworked and often abused manufacturers.
@@allmyhobbiesareexpensive2676 You are exactly right. Watch the flea markets and gun shows and you can find ammo. It's just gonna be 2 to 4 times the normal price. On ammoseek the cheapest 45acp was 79 cents a round for shit steel case ammo. Underwood ammo is $2.90 per round. Insanity! Some dealers and assholes online everywhere are causing this!
Just FYI people, I have read autopsy reports where the victim was shot 6 times with a 22. It was pretty crazy how the bullet traveled throughout the body. One round exited out the ear. Moral of the story don’t ever underestimate this round.
On the flip side I have met someone who was a soldier in the Balkans and he survived getting shot in the torso with more than a half dozen 5.45x39 rounds, so sometimes it's just the luck of the draw I guess. I agree with your final point though, 100%: never underestimate.
Ammoland has an article called Handgun caliber does not matter. The stats from every defensive use with a pistol was compiled. The .22lr has the best avg for shots to incapacitate at 1.38. The lowly .45 was over 2 shot avg.
I recently bought this .22 LR Punch (directly from Federal) for self-defense use in my Ruger LCP-2; however, it had problems cycling the ammunition. (My LCP-2 has flawlessly cycled CCI, CCI Blazer, Winchester, Remington, and even Herter's, but it will not cycle the Federal Punch.) I then tried the Punch ammo in my Ruger Mark IV and it also had the same cycling problems, so I know that the fault does not rest with the guns. Looks like I will stick with CCI Mini-Mags for self-defense.
The Ruger LCP-2 is exactly what I was thinking of using this with. Perhaps I'll go with the CCI Stinger 32 grain or just stick with the CCI Mini-Mags 40 grain.
@@zendell37 Never tried anything else, better safe than sorry. It's grip is big enough to fit my hand and the .22 mag should be good for 'yotes at distance probably needed.
My dad would go to Kmart and buy out all the Remington Thunderbolt bricks of 22. In the 80’s. Every weekend with the 10/22 and a pump Field master. Plinking. Those were the days.
I was literally typing I would love to see the Punch vs Stingers in Ballistics Gel. I think it would also be cool to see the Punch vs 380. The cavity created by the Punch out of the Beretta was impressive.
For some reason this video cleared away a few cobwebs and reminded me that I had a box of Hornandy .22mag ftx that Id bought and put away in the winter of 2012(ish). Along with said 22magnum there was also a small variety of misc rounds including seven unopened 525 round boxes of Blazer 22. My heart almost stopped.
Great videos as always thank you. I'm a huge fan of 308, and surprisingly to some a 22 long rifle. I get laughed and criticized a LOT from the usual tacticool armchair professionals...but nobody's willing to get shot by one to prove my point. I enjoy your channel brother.
@@bigd7861 no one has ever taken up my offer to shoot their trash talking ass out at 200 yards with a 45acp either! 🤣🤣🤣 I wouldn't want to get hit with a 22lr at 300yds! 22lr goes clean through rock chucks at 200yds! I've gut punched a coyote at 301yds and killed it. No it didn't go through it. But it's been dead for eleven years now. 😂😂
I like CCI Stinger 32 grain HPs out of my 3" Bersa FS22... Great velocity, nickel case since 197x, 100% reliable, seeming enough penetration. Speeds I got over my Competition electronics chronograph: 1231 1244 1259 1257 AV 1247 SD 13 with lotso-fireballs.
Thanks for the video. Well done. When lining up your variable "ducks" in in an attempt at coming up with an acceptable self-defence platform it's always a good idea to remember that the last "duck" will always be luck. Carry whatever makes you feel good but carry something. I tap danced to all of this and finally settled on a Titan 25 cal semi-auto because its deadly accurate up to 30 feet (beyond that it isn't) and it fits in my front pocket comfortably without giving itself away. I also figured the odds of an encounter happening so I settled on surprise and ability to hit a close target. Beyond any of these variable scenarios if it's my time to go, it my time to go. If given a chance know for sure I will go down fighting. Lol
I always preferred the 40 gr round nose CCI for self defense.little ping pong balls they will do quite a bit of damage inside he chest cavity if need be. U don’t need expansion with such a little rd, penetration and bullet placement is the killer pill.but I will try some for the hell of it if I can find some one day. Great video Plinker as always.👍
This ammo is FINALLY available in Southern California! Just bought a bunch of sleeves down at LAX Ammo in Huntington Beach. Can't wait to get it down to the range and test accuracy and reliability.
If Federal is going to be brave enough to claim .22LR is suitable for self defense, I sure hope they use a 100% reliable priming compound. There are no alibi's when it comes to self defense.
There's probably some wording out there somewhere that they assume no responsibility for product reliability and make no guarantees. Liability insurance covers everything else.
People go on and on about how unreliable .22LR is, but the more data I see on it the more I see it as a non-issue with a modern gun with modern QUALITY ammo. Modern .22LR isn't your grandpa's crappy old .22, manufacturing and gunpowder has come a long way. Most people that seem to have problems are firing a worn out gun that has shot more in a weekend than a centerfire they own will shoot in its life and are buying the cheapest bulk ammo they can find that may not even be the right spec for the gun their shooting (semi-auto needs jacketed high velocity, not bare lead or low velocity/subsonic). I watched a 3 gun competition the other day where fancy schmancy centerfire race pistols were stove piping and having other issues, no gun is perfectly reliable and .22LR gets an unfair bad rap.
I’d never put all my trust in a .22 but I’d like to load up a couple of BX 25 mags for my backpacker just as a supplement for when I wander off into the backcountry. Excellent video.
Great comparison between Punch and Stanger ammo in a pocket pistol! I'm now carrying CCI Velositors for my EDC. I think many of us would love to see you compare these to Punch and Stangers with a gel test. It might once and for all prove which has better penetration for personal protection.
I didn't expect much at the start but the ballistic gel sold me on this. It has a similar wound path I would expect to see in a 9mm. Shooting pencils. But that amount of expansion during its path is great. I'd like to see what a 22short and 22 mag round look like. The nickel coating is attractive to those who want a stash of good ammo for survival and bug out bags. I'd like to see results of weathering and torture test of this ammo in different environments. See if it will fire after submerged for so many hours or days and so on. Depending on price I may look into a small 22 for a ccw backup to go with my ccw full frame 1911 45 acp
Keep up the good work. Love to see the proof in the pudding 🤣 for say. Excellent info on barrel length, penitration, ammo, and gel results to give people the open option whether to carry a 22lr or other choice.
I'm glad to see manufacturers focusing on .22 as a defense round. This ammo with a Ruger MKIII and 10/22 would be a great combo. Or how about a GSG9/GSG16..?? But I'm sure a part of it is because of the demand for other ammo. The bottom line: a .22 is better than nothing.
In the past few months I've bought CCI Mini-mags at WM and Calbelas multiple times. I have also seen Velocitors and Maxi-Mags for sale and available on the CCI website.
Since you made this video I have always thought it is a no brainer. However finding a good revolver with decent trigger or affordable reliable viable carry semi Auto was next to impossible here in Minnesota 2-3yrs ago. There are now low cost good quality advantages available to those of us who have learned Federal Punch in .22lr is no joke, actually far from it! Kel-Tek makes a now on sale $179 p17 that runs it flawlessly, very accurately with great features. It weighs next to nothing, prints about 1” wide, comes with good sights, tools for Supressor host capabilities & 3 sixteen round magazines. Sting-Gers or Stang-Gers(now $13 per 100 thankfully)run flawlessly too, 😉 Punch in .22Lr is THANKFULLY recently $8 per 50 now! I have run just over 3500 rounds of it now, not one failure & counting!!!!!!!!!!
@Mr Cevant I watched a RUclips video by Beyond Seclusion, the video was called 22lr for self defense?? Must watch! I was impressed to say the very least! He shot cow parts, ribs, lung, hide, and denim, those segregated rounds are no joke
Lots of people are of the belief .22lr is suitable for SD . Various handguns in .22lr are marketed for defensive use . Not saying in this post if they are sadly misguided , or they have a rational leg to stand on , but the demand is there .
My first choice for a carry gun is a .22lr, and has been for many years. For reasons: 1. Much more practice. 22’s are fun to shoot with negligible recoil. 2. Ammo is cheap thus encouraging practice. 3. More likely to have shots on target. Again, because of practice and low recoil. 4. In a defensive situation, don’t want to be spraying the local neighborhood with heavy caliber ammo. Again, back to practice and shots on target. However, for home defense I use a .45 ACP 1911. If someone breaks into my home, I know he means to do me and my family harm and I don’t care if I hit the stove, as long as the perp gets a painful message. The intruder will definitely regret being hit by a .45 bullet. Good video.
I think they might be on to something with the flat nose bullet. IIRC, a wider-nosed bullet of the same caliber will deposit more energy, so it seems like this is acting as a great combination of maximum expansion and penetration out of a small gun. Definitely BOTH things that .22LR needs. This might be a winner. I suspect they're also using REALLY fast-burning powder in these loads?
I like hearing better to have 3 hits than a miss from a larger caliber. My wife is a small framed person and a bit intimidated by larger caliber but loves shooting and controls her Walther p22 phenomenally
Very interesting for sure. I’m 56, have hunted and shot for over forty years. In my day, the Stingers were the bomb. Thank you for your dedication. I’m from Canada, so may never see that great ammunition.
With regards to carrying a .22 pistol; An old friend who worked for a popular ammo manufacturer explained it well. Because the gunpowder comes in direct contact with the primer powder, it acts like sandpaper over time wearing away the primer powder while you are moving about (pocket carry). That doesn’t happen to center fire ammo because the primer powder is encapsulated in the primer.
Pretty cool to see rimfire finally getting more love from bullet designers after all these years. Over the decades whenever the conversation comes up about using a rimfire for self defense the way I always see it is that sure, a heavier caliber can hit harder and cause more damage. But as I see it, if a vital organ is hit with a bullet that causes damage then said organ has a difficult time working. It doesn't matter if the damage is a smaller wound cavity from a rimfire or a larger one from a heavier round. Either way, the organ is in danger of failing. Same for blood loss too. A hole in an artery is a hole. And while it's very possible to get very good at rapid mag dumps with a 9 or .45 it doesn't take as much muscle mass to pump out a bunch of rimfires so anyone can do it. And with very light recoil they can also stay on target far easier and print a better group. I'd always ask people if they'd like the idea of bird shot penetrating their heart or aorta......so if bird shot gives a person pause, then a little .22HP round....well, I rest my case :D
I have to say, I’m impressed. At the beginning of the video, I was thinking I’d never carry a .22 for defensive purposes. Now, it still wouldn’t be my first choice, but it seems like a viable option with the right ammo, and the Punch looks pretty good. I’m a recently retired, disabled vet, and one of my problems is with my hands, so I’ve been giving some thought to the EZ by S&W, but the .22 with Punch is interesting. I currently carry the P365, but it’s getting a bit more difficult these days. Without the Maglula, I’m not sure I could get more than maybe 7 or 8 rounds into the mag. Nice vid!
If you get the S & W EZ then get it in the great 'new' 30 Super Carry caliber, it is better than 9mm for better magazine capacity and also better than the 380.
Yep, picked up a .22 for trapping. Can't find ammo anywhere in town, or the next town in pick a direction. So to the internets I went and found this ammo. Baught a few boxes and a box of shot shells for fun (Saw your carpenter bees). Then off to the youtubes to research what I just spent my money on. I found this vid. I'm happy. Thanks for sharing.
@@terrybrown5402 lol wtf do democrats have to do with it? Who do you think is buying up all the ammo? Though tbf, lots of democrats armed up for the first time last summer so I guess some contributed to it. But isn't that a good thing to have more gun owners on both sides of the aisle? And there's zero chance of any real gun control passing right now. Even if something did, the supreme court is locked conservative for a long time to come so anything egregious would get struck down. So any panic buying right now is just as dumb as those morons buying carts full of toilet paper a year ago. Also, you shouldn't dehumanize your fellow Americans with terms like "demonrats". It's incredibly unpatriotic and really makes you seem brainwashed. United we stand, divided we fall.

Watching these videos reminds me of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous": "I'm Robin Leach and I'm going to show you things you don't have, will never have and can't afford anyway."
My take on .22LR for self defense is that there is no other round you can shoot on target as fast as .22. Centerfire rounds, especially out of a pistol, take concentration and careful pacing, something that will be hard to do when your life is being threatened suddenly and at close range. IMO, light em up with .22 and that will get the job done. The first hit should throw them off enough to hurt their own ability to shoot, then you finish them off with the rest of the 9 or so rounds in the mag. Much better than missing once or twice with a larger caliber and then it's too late.
OK. Congratulations to Federal for coming up with the Punch 22LR ammo. Now how about a 50 grain 22WMR (aka Magnum) Punch round? THAT'S what I'm talking about!
22 LR - 40 Grain CPHP - CCI Velocitor gives 15.6 inches penetration from 4.4 inch revolver. 22 LR - 37 gr CPHP - Winchester Varmint HE gives 12.7" penetration from 1.9 inch revolver. ALL of them need more momentum for penetration.
Is a 5 inch .22lr more " impressive " than a 2 inch .22lr ? Absolutely and catagorically , with any and all types of ammo ! Does this penetrate deeper than conventional 40 gr Round Nose such as Mini Mag from comparable bbl lengths ? Good Question , I'd like to know .
Is this ammo " Impressive " in the absolute sense , or compared to any " defensive caliber other than .25 acp " ? At the risk of flaming by the .22lr fanboys for pointing out the reality , not really , nor is any .22lr from a handgun .

@@Oldlady74 I was thinking more along the lines of the velocitor and interceptor
Speer Gold Dot, Personal Protection, Short Barrel, .22lr.
This promotes me to shoot every day just to expend the sweat covered rounds I’ve carried all day in my pocket. Love your channel. Anyone looking for these in the comments section, they can be had off federal’s website as of yesterday.
That's it! I can draw and dump 15+1 out of my lil p22 in a fist sized group in the blink of an eye lol
As of two years ago I started using Federal Punch and my tests in different materials showed good results !
I also carry the CCI Velocitor and have used it for a number of years , good quality .22 ammo !
Interesting to see the bullets actually get sucked back in the wound channel from their furthest penetration.
The gelatin blocks are a real rubbery consistency is why.
I would imagine 8 rounds of Federal Punch fired from a S&W 43C at 7 feet distance would effectively break contact with the aggressor.
in the infinite words of the lords; "Title", and so it was and it was awesome
I think that the deciding factor was the larger barrel. With ammunition as small as the .22, there's not much room for different types of bullets. What you want from the manufacturer is consistency and reliability.

Load the cp33 mag and be absolutely sure to seat it all the way back each and every time. Should solve your problem.

You can definitely tell the difference with the longer barrels - there's a distinct sonic "snap" to the sound.

STINGERS. Not “strangers”…

A nasty round for sure. The “report” broke the main spring in my mini revolver.
380
22gr or the 36gr?
@@RobLeeBea it’s either 36 or 40, but I believe 36
@Mr Cevant I watched a RUclips video by Beyond Seclusion, the video was called 22lr for self defense?? Must watch! I was impressed to say the very least! He shot cow parts, ribs, lung, hide, and denim, those segregated rounds are no joke
Grand Thumb and the 22lr now this, has someone sent out a request for 22lr as a defensive round recently?
Love to see these in the small Rugers and NAA pugs

Was thinking the same thing, lol

Lots of people are of the belief .22lr is suitable for SD . Various handguns in .22lr are marketed for defensive use .
Not saying in this post if they are sadly misguided , or they have a rational leg to stand on , but the demand is there .
My first choice for a carry gun is a .22lr, and has been for many years. For
reasons: 1. Good video.
Nice. Funny how the ear protection ad came up right after the Ruger shot when you said oops lol.
Ar 15-22 pistol for home defence. 30 round mags. Cant beat it for noise, recoil etc. : )

I’ve never heard of them stanger rounds!!!! Thanks for sharing your videos and keep them coming please.
I can't even get "Stangers" much less the Punch right now😔
I was lucky to find 2 boxes a week ago. Felt like I won a raffle.
Canada. Dirt cheap. I get Stingers in my cart and then, "No shipping to US addresses."
"Take it off safety Dave u got one job"...that's some funny fecal matter lol 👍👍👍👍👍
Just had bunch of this .22 punch on the shelf at my local shop. Limit 2 per day will get more until it runs out.👍🏾
With regards to carrying a .22 pistol; An old friend who worked for a popular ammo manufacturer explained it well. Because the gunpowder comes in direct contact with the primer powder, it acts like sandpaper over time wearing away the primer powder while you are moving about (pocket carry). That doesn’t happen to center fire ammo because the primer powder is encapsulated in the primer.
Thank's Kevin GREAT INFO !!!
Makes sense. Also makes sense why better quality .22 comes in those plastic containers with them facing bullet down.
Actually, if you rewatch the slomo, the Stanger made a pretty large cavity.

Have you considered a revolver the Ruger lcr is a great little defensive tool 8rds I have mine loaded up with the Federal punch
Thumbs up for disc golf! Love to see it! Great video too btw!

"Currently Unavailable" ... sign of the times? I guess I was a bit late going to the Federal site... 🥺
Way late. I got plenty
Yep DAM demoncRats
Thank the demonrats
And its always out for me...i can't find anything on federals site.
I have not meet a single person who says “oh that’s a .22, im going to harm you anyway”. I carry a .22 with no worry.
I don't know about statistics nowadays but back in the 70s/80s more people wete killed by 22lr than all other calibers combined.
For some reason, there's a group of people around here that think a .22lr is unable to harm you. God only knows where they got that idea. I have easily shot deer with them, and lots of other game.
I always said that also no one wants to get shot with any cal.
Right? There are people out here hunting feral hogs with air guns but a 22 is just a bee sting hahaha
@@got2kittys Yup. Had plenty of whitetail does fall flat with one shot of 22.

😂😂😂😂🖕 Federal!
Absolutely agreed. Speed and pricision wins any fight/gun fight
OK. Congratulations to Federal for coming up with the Punch 22LR ammo.
Now how about a 50 grain 22WMR (aka Magnum) Punch round? THAT'S what I'm talking about!
Oooh...! Call their marketing people and tell them the demand is out here...that is a good idea...
Sounds like great stuff, Now if any kind of ammo could be found in any stores it would be even better
Great ammunition, thanks for the test. btw please read the label on your CCI "stanger" ammunition, usually it's spelled "stinger" like a bee stinger.
My guess is that a 40 grain round nose moving a bit slower will perform near identically for self defense. But options are good.
Yeah I like the flat nose but I'd rather have a heavier bullet.
Yup!
40 gr Mini-Mag round nose is my choice when I want penetration.
Round nose will not give you the permanent wound channel.
I was skeptical until I saw the ballistics test, that it actually really impressive.
out of the 5 inch Barreta ya, those little 2 inchers not really.
This ammo was $20/box at a MS gun show yesterday. UNreal ....
