I've been nofap for over 4 years now, and it's had a major impact on my life. I was so hooked on pornography and self pleasure, and just assumed "that's the way it is". Once I saw that it was possible to break out of that life, it really shifted my perspective of a lot of things. People are so brainwashed to think pornography is "normal", there's nothing "normal" about it.

    • @jamesprez7296

Whats up bro? Congrats on your streak. Very impressive really. Can you name some benefits you experienced on it. Lets say great benefits you saw after a month? 2 months? 3 months? 6 months ? a year? I'm 2 weeks in and intend to go as long as possible.

    • @zandert33
      @zandert33 Год назад +1

@@jamesprez7296 To clarify, I am married (have been for many years), and I don't really buy into the whole "ejaculation losing my power" stuff. That is to say that though I have completely given up "fapping", I am having sex with my wife. One benefit is that sex is just better. It feels more intimate and "special". I had been fapping pretty much every day I wasn't having sex (and sometimes even on days I was), but with the only opportunity for that release to be with my wife, it's something more exciting to look forward to. It also teaches me patience. In the past if my wife wasn't in the mood, I'd just take care of myself, and move on. It's teaching instant gratification, when we should all be learning to enjoy what we have. Perhaps that part also leads me into being more "romantic" to be able to sweep my wife off her feet. On another point porn became more of a time sink. It became harder and harder to find the "right thing" to help me get off, so I'd spend an hour sometimes trying to find something to do the trick, that's time that I have back. Also I found as the more "normal" things stopped working, I had to go into "weirder" porn to get me excited, which make me feel gross afterwards. All and all, it's better to just get rid of that part of my life, and enjoy what I have.

      1. There's literally nothing abnormal about (normal) porn unless you're talking about the weird modern practices of like gaping and puking during blow jobs and stuff.
      2. What does nofap even have to do with porn? If you're just anti-porn you should just start a distinct and separate movement for that.

@Mitthenstein It's a side effect of the sheer amount of dopamine people are releasing into their brains on a daily basis when they fap. It is literally identical to shooting up heroine, especially if done multiple times in a day. You develop a tolerance to the stimulating effect of the initial levels of dopamine and keep having to do it more and more to get the same high. As a consequence, people have to search up even more extreme forms of pornography and watch it for longer periods of the day, which can cause some severe changes in people's perspectives of themselves, their interests, and the people around them, not to mention the amount of time they're wasting not doing something else. For the same reason that someone that is doped up on weed is practically worthless at any type of labor, so is the person that is doped up on porn and masturbation.

Advice for some of you guys struggling with NoFap, I actually recommend just doing no prn at first. For me personally, abstaining from all PMO was really difficult, especially with the lack of freedom of reshaping my life frameworks (creating better routines, putting triggers for PMO out of reach etc.). But taking prn out really helped - it helped me reach a more natural ability to understand, accept, and control my sexual desires too, to the point that I was able to abstain completely if I need(ed) to. Ofc I recommend not thinking about prn either when you have an urge, just try to get in sync with your body's feelings again, and honestly, it will fall into place.
I also very strongly believe that people exposed to prn at a young age (so for me, stumbling across it on the internet at like age 9), it becomes so much harder to fight addiction later on, to the point that I used to not understand how people just 'causally consumed'

From my personal experience, I think it's better just to forget about counting days. It's inhuman to restrict our sexual nature. I learned to see it from another perspective; just do stuff. Just do your stuff, what are your passions? Your goals? Your ambitions? Focus on what's really important: Yourself. Make yourself so busy every single day and eventually you'll realize you haven't fapped for weeks or even months, and if someday you feel the need (and can't have sex) just do it maaan, you deserve it! Just don't do it with porn.

"Its inhuman to restrict our sexual nature." Yes and also no. Obviously going a life without any sex or self-pleasure could be argued as being unnatural (such as what monks do). But not releasing sexual tension (ie fapping) is a perfectly normal practice in eastern cultures, look up sexual transmutation, its basicly no fap but the more advanced version. Essentually it teaches you how to direct the energy stored from not fapping into possitive things and actions. Its very interesting.

The movement was started mostly by people for the people whose addiction to masturbation (not porn) was so high that it started to affect their daily life and themselves as a human.
Its benefits depends on the level of addiction, the more addicted you are the better results, if you don't have any problem you might not see any difference of being in nofap.

From my experience, I feel there are so many benefits to no fap. I’m mainly talking about fapping with pornography but I know its more about retaining but I feel both go hand in hand.
More productivity since you’re opening up more time, less sexualizing and objectifying women, more confidence and energy which will get you being more active. I think the biggest part is just that mentality of not over sexualizing everything or seeking it out. Whenever I went back, I would see the usual stuff I consumed and would think “damn. I like some aggressive and toxic stuff”. And in general when I was out at the store or just being social, I would be more happy and carefree. Maybe just a placebo effect but I did notice a lot of improvements in interactions.
But it is extremely difficult to do if you are lonely, desperate, and just find yourself with too much time. I feel the purpose should be for an overhaul in lifestyle and not just for a November-less nut only to go back into that cycle. I “successfully “ did one month last year and it felt really good but I don’t think my intentions were in the right place since I was still exposing myself to pics, GIFS, and planning what I would watch when it was over.
You should do one about pornography. Would be interesting to see how people view it. Been loving the interviews. Feels like a sort of fresh breathe of new air and what seems like a new era for the channel. Keep it up!

don't listen to the small brain, nothing wrong with long comments as long as its not meandering. I think you have a point about being lonely (and single) etc.. On the one hand, you have people who go out to bars or getting on tinder strictly looking for sex, which I feel is an aspiration for a lot of nofap ppl, but I see that as gross and a weird way to spend your time, dedicating hours of time to the pursuit of sex with someone and never talk to them again. Why not just spend a few min beating off and right back to what you were doing lmao.
on the other hand, porn can definitely be addictive and a time sink, probably unhealthy mentally. Its because you're going too cold turkey too soon. The key to success in my own experience is to separate the bodily action from the mind's thought incrementally over time, but you have to sail close to the wind if you want to see real progress.
Instead of stopping completely, try to abstain for as long as you can as you usually do, but then if you find you just can't resist the urge to go onto a porn website any longer, you can then make a pact with yourself. Allow yourself to go onto the website and navigate your way around it temporarily, just to look at the images, or watch the video - but the deal you make with yourself is you DO NOT touch yourself at any point whilst doing so. This pact serves the purpose of severing the link between your thoughts (which arise after interaction with the stimulus) and your actions (I must play with myself as a consequence of these thoughts [and so it should happen automatically as night follows day]).
After enough time is spent browsing the website aimlessly (you're just "taking in the sights" as a visitor not a participant), you'll end up naturally losing interest and exiting the page, just as if you'd been browsing youtube for too long and you'd had enough of looking at meme videos and listening to podcasts on the platform. Its the touching yourself element that primarily needs to be stopped, not the thoughts (because you can't really control when they appear or not), because shame ultimately comes from things that you DO not from the things that you THINK - our law system is set up on precisely this premise. If you make this pact enough times, over time, eventually porn websites become just another website to you and become a waste of your time. Good luck!

It's definitely not placebo. Of course, with NoFap as an institution/community, there's going to be some weird/superstitious elements. But, that's what we get for making self-control into an "edgy" practice.
At the same time, it comes as no surprise to me that more young guys have a "spiritual but not religious" and semi-perennialist beliefs which integrate NoFap. The thing is, NoFap shouldn't be on its own. It's one instance of the virtue called self-control. Self-control in general is good for the soul, and done for the sake of love/worship is spiritual and even better.
From personal experience, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that self-control provides a generative, life-giving energy to your whole person.

    Guide to quitting porn:
    1. Understand that you're not actually giving up anything, just quitting. You literally gain nothing from consuming pornography.
    2. In no circumstance actively search up pornographic content (especially not when you're bored or curious). Obviously its impossible to 100% avoid this content, because we live in a society. As long as you don't search for it., you should be good.
    3. Understand that you are not weak or pathetic for thinking that you lack discipline. When it comes to this type of addiction, actively trying really hard and keeping it in your mind constantly will probably backfire.

The hoodie shop is not loading. I wanted that hoodie, you sold me on it, Ot4y? Also, don't let this channel die bro. It's so good, and you'll adapt and grow, and bring it back. I, ... WE have faith. Chatting With was dope, the jokes and pranks were sadly ruined by all the fakesters, but ebb and flow with the times. I have faith.
The 2."something" million subs came here for the pranks, but each of these vids has a loyal following. That means, the legit "subscriber count" is probably around 50-100k, the true fans, so I definitely see this as a one-step back, but endless possibilities for steps forward. The true fans who like you for you ARE here. I know it's devastating to go from 250k in income per year to like 18k, lol, but such is life sometimes.
It's like growing a YT channel from 50k - 500k all over again, but this time, it's not gonna be a WAAYYYY up and crash and burn type thing, like fidget spinners, but instead, an evergreen style thing that will keep going once it builds momentum.
I like you man and I want to see your channel be great once again. It IS great, but even greater, you know? You got this. Don't take any more Amazon jobs, or bullshit jobs - keep up the hustle and grind alive, and it'll come back. Once it does, definitely invest in low-cost index funds :D
In the meantime, sell us some merch to keep the lights on 😄

Seventeen days in and I was able to read two books in the past two days in one setting. It was a lot more enjoyable compared to gazing mindlessly into a glowing rectangle throughout the good majority of the day.

I find it funny that the girls saying “I never watched it” are also sceptical of the benefits of abstinence from pron.
Like how would you know? It doesn’t affect you (allegedly)

NoFap is extremely valid. Prn releases more dopamine than some extremely addictive drugs. The surge of dopamine forced your brain to down-regulate its dopamine receptors. At that point you are less sensitive to the things in life that release normal amounts of dopamine, like socializing, completing tasks etc.

Wouldn't socializing release the opposite of dopamine? That is why it is so difficult to engage in.

It's always strange to me to see people who supposedly have no issues at all with "PMO" addiction. Baffling. And the fact that these people give off vibes that they never have any addictions and are totally mentally stable. That being said, none of the people interviewed seem like extremely creative types either. I think for those of us who are more intuitive, creative, not neurotypical, who see things very differently, addictions of all kinds also come with that territory. The more prone to fantasy, the more prone to pushing boundaries, seeing the world through unusual approaches, the more I think things like porn or any other addiction are an issue. It also goes hand in hand with intelligence and drive. If someone is perfectionistic, hard on themselves, suffers from anxiety as a result, that is going to have to be remedied by something. This is just my take on things.
