This explains why I've nearly destroyed a few craft beers trying to get them open
Whether or not you like how it opens a can to drink from, I use it for a different reason.
Once I am done with a can (poured contents into a glass) I use the DT to take the can top off and create a container for using in the garage. Disposable, single use, container for cleaning paint brushes etc.
You can already do that with a regular can opener
@@SvobodovaEva how? A regular can opener leaves a sharp rim
@@SvobodovaEva No you can't, you need to get the right can opener to be able to do this. i have purchased 3 can openers and they do open normal cans, but not the aluminium ones, so nope, this tool is amazing at doing that job.
I also will be using this tool to remove the top off empty cans and then tin snips to cut it open to use the tin on projects! Just got it, used it and LOVE it! Great invention. 👍
I have been struggling for the past 2 weeks to find a method I like but the quarter turn forward then back you suggested has really helped
I’ve always loved the design of Sapporo beer cans they’re crazy rigid and look cool. Totally getting this to make Sapporo “glasses”
Just got mine in the mail today. This video helped. Loving it so far!
This was hugely helpful. Thank you!
I've seen other YT video reviewers turn the Draft Top more than several times trying to release the lid. That was totally unnecessary, I see now. You made it look so easy. Thanks. BTW, I ordered one and I can hardly wait for it to arrive.
Cool to see a founder supporting their product and adressing its feedback negative and positive
Video was super helpful. Mine showed up today and helped a lot. Was popping cans left and right.
Just got mine today. Beautiful cut and way to drink from a can. Bit of a learning curve and an expense but for a bar owner, bartender or crafter it's definitely worth it. Hope the word continues to spread. Thx for your invention🙏🏻
Hi Colin, Thank you for support and taking the time to leave a comment. We just went public with a new invention that is designed more for the high demand of bars, restaurants and stadiums. Take a look at our Kickstarter campaign when you get a chance. kck.st/3mg6uPx
To echo some of the other comments, this should have been clear in the launch video. The video on Kickstarter showed the opener lifting the lid right off, which was disingenuous at best. Pushing the lid in tends to result in spillage (especially when some cans are more full than others). I've been using one of the methods you show here (pop the can open, drink a little bit if it's really full, cut the lid off and pull it out by the tab), which is fine, I guess - but not what was advertised on Kickstarter. While I do like having an open topped can, that does somewhat defeat part of the purpose of the tool (essentially, apart from saving on washing up, I might as well us a glass when using it at home). On top of that, I find that the lid is rarely cut enough on the first try to allow lifting it out or pushing it in, even with multiple rotations. I usually need a couple of attempts at it.
Lastly, a couple of suggested improvements:
- The way you open the lever is awkward. IMHO, it would be better to have a tab you pull on at the other end of the lever.
- Stick a magnet or two in the frame so people can attach it to their fridge.
First of all Dilly Dilly!!
I am a fan of the product.
I am thinking I am gonna have to practice on a few cases in order to get my DT certification card.
I was aggressive at first and I watched this video to helped me out don't worry about a return from this household.
My buddy said you guys should put some kind of hook on it so you can remove the lid.
Huge help! Just got ours today and butchered the first two cans before seeing your video
Used mine today... works fine. With a little bit of practice, it becomes easy.
Thanks for this video, hopefully i'll have better luck with craft beers now - i've been bending the hell out of the sides of my cans!! I love the tool, even if my wife thinks it's stupid! I already have one friend that wants to buy one, hopefully i'll recruit more...
Awesome! Can’t wait to try it out! Lord knows I’m going to need it to celebrate with friends once the plague passes.
Never heard of this before. Fantastic idea and product. I'll be purchasing.... And yeah, all smart people will understand that all new products will come with some challenges and feedback for a first time product is key for longterm success so the 2nd revision and so on can be even better! Keep up the great work my man! Job well done and I wish you and your company nothing but success!
Thanks, bobbycone2. We are proud of the next level drinking experience that you get with Draft Top 2.0 tool. We are always looking to improve. Make sure you check out our Homebrew How-To journey on RUclips as well. Thanks for your support🍻
@@TheDraftTop Thanks! I absolutely will. Just placed an order for 2 of them so I can share one of them with a friend too. Cant wait to try it out!
Can u add a small hook to pick the top out of the can so I doesn’t go inside ?
You know those people you absolutely can't find a present for? Yeah, I'm getting a pile of these for dad, uncles, cousins... I got one to try and I like it a lot. First beer I figured out you want to pop the top before using the tool. Works great!
Took me like 5 beers but I finally got the hang of it. It’s crucial to twist with both hand instead of one
Brilliant idea, great video, hope you sell a few million of them.
I didn't see anywhere on the website to give you guys a review, and I don't have social media, but for anyone watching this and thinking about buying it, GET YOU ONE! Don't waste your time and money on the knock off you can buy on Amazon. They don't work. They leave you frustrated and covered in beer. WORTH EVERY PENNY!
I like mine, thanks for the tips. One thing that might be helpful is to print the directions on the package more clearly. I couldn’t understand the package but found good instructions on the web
I love my Draft Top.... Best invention EVER 👏👏👏❤
If this is the best invention ever, you may need to get out a little more hahaha
a few suggestions:
1) add a can opener to it- I received an off-brand metal version and it has a can opener incorporated into the structure...very nice addition. the opener itself doesn't seem to have sharp blades so I will upgrade to yours eventually but the can opener function is nice.
2) add a hook to the lever to grab the pull tab and lid out of the drink since you are already using it to push the lid in.
3)add a magnet to stick it to the grill, fridge, car, cooler, etc.
4) at least with my off-brand version, I find turning the device away from myself in a counter-clockwise motion cuts easier than turning toward me. I will note that I use the method of popping the tab to release pressure first and then turning the device counter-clockwise, for anyone reading this.
The beer can has already been perfected. There is ABSOLUTELY NO NEED FOR THIS.
I think the key is where to hold the can, otherwise you get a wrinkle/crush going on, does have a learning curve. I like this "open first" idea. And yes, I drop mine like that too :P
This was helpful, but anyway to take off and sharpen the blades?
These skip across lake water very well, but rocks are much cheaper and more useful. Thanks but I'll just pop the top. Note to self never order stuff at 2 A.M.
You need an engineering degree to use it properly LOL oh well at least I got mine as a gift
Thank you for this video
I loooooove the draft top opener but after 3 months of daily use it breaks. That is a short shelf life. Will there also be a metal version or only easily breakable plastic?
please email us at hello@drafttop.com so we can lookinto the issue
great tool if you need a makeshift spitter for your tobacco or seeds/nuts!
I find I have to squeeze fairly hard, I don't want to break it! Yours seems to cut right away... I will practice more since I haven't opened that many cans yet, just got it a few days ago.
Me too. Probably a case in and every one takes more oomph than he's describing.
I wish this video had been posted before I ordered four of these! The Kickstarter web page has a Vimeo video showing the Draft Top removing the lid. Nowhere is it shown or explained that the lid must be pushed into the can. Had I known this, I would not have wasted my money ($67 for the four). Very disappointed!
The first video in their story even shows how the lid is pushed in :D I LOVE the tool! Send them to me ;-)
@@PhilipDeVos1 I'll send the ones I ordered to you unopened.if you pay for them.
So they purposely arranged all the cans in the video to face perfectly towards the camera and not show the 'lid' bent down? That's fucked up
After taking the top off, are you able to reuse the can and put that same top or a new top on if you have a can seaming/sealing machine?
After ordering several hoping for a GREAT experience, I'm pretty disappointed in the overall workings. I'll continue to practice, but it isn't as easy as it seems. My guess is the blades aren't sharp enough. But making them sharper may cause issues with cuts. In the end, 2 out of 5 for me. I would give it a 1☆ but maybe after some practice, I'll get better at it. Would I reorder it....No
You might be squeezing too hard, I’ve had mine a week and opened 10+ cans had no issues
Nice work!
As a child care provider and teacher and administrator we need all the alcoholic beverages available to flow with little resistance so we completely appreciate your commitment to helping us pop the tops!!!
Thanks for all your support. Cheers🍻
Bought mine, I slightly cut the center put a magnet in the center, and easily pulls right off with the top. quick cut in the CNC made a big difference. the top never goes in the cans
What cans are you drinking from that are magnetic? Aren't most can made from aluminium?
That's a cool gadget for sure
I can't get it to work with a Modelo Chelada Especial. :(
Bought 2. Wasted my money. I'm just going to pour the beer into a glass like I've always done.
I'd like to have one for drinking at the track, camping, etc. No glass to deal with.
Learning curve, maybe next time I won't wrinkle the can. Cool idea but I am not ready for a magic trick amongst friends yet.
I love this product. It hasn't reached here in Sweden yet. I have the older version. But there is a very small problem when cutting. It does leave a very small piece of metal where you can cut your lip on it when drinking. From what I've seen on YT, even on the new version 4 also. But the v.4 has to be your best yet. I will buy this one day!
Thank you for the support and honest feedback. We are constantly working to achieve the best outcome. We find that if you push down on the tool slightly while using it, this should eliminate any adverse outcomes. We are selling the Draft Top LIFT (v4) on Amazon Germany and it should be available in the next couple of weeks. It has very different instructions on it so please take the time to read them or watch the QR code video.
if you email us at hello@drafttop.com and ask for Armand, we'll help ensure you get access to the LIFT in Sweden.
@@TheDraftTop Oh wow. That's perfect. I will have to get 2 has my son is training to be a barman and I built him his own bar in his room. This would go great with his tools!
Idk which metals work with magnets but I wonder if you put a magnet in the top if it can pull the lid up
Cans are aluminum, magnets wouldn't work
I'd recommend adding a hook for the generic cans that you hook on the tab before cutting so it doesn't fall in
So it would only work if you opened it first
So yo have the tab up and as yo put the thing on the hook grabs the tab by the tab moving down idk I have the idea in my head hard to explain on txt
Used for the first time yesterday. I’d say make the center of tool, that touches the can, a magnet. Maybe as a deluxe or pro version lol cuz it will def cost more.
We wish we could, but unfortunately, aluminum is not magnetic. Thanks for checking us out 🍺
@@TheDraftTop ah duh lol enjoy the product good job
For the sake of safety, any possibility of metal shards falling in the drink or cutting your lip is a hazard. Too much trouble for so little reward however the idea is still excellent.
Mine was able to do a couple cans but after following the instructions it just cut the can and left it and is now almost un drinkable. Real bummer.
I did it! 👏 Great product!👍 Now if I can figure out a way to get the bottom off so easily! 🤔
Thank you for the kind words and support Co Co.
Are u considering of making a battery version also ?
Thanks for the question. Our team in the Draft Top labs has not hinted that they would be going in that direction yet. Cheers 🍻
thank you for supporting NASCAR especially Martinsville Speedway
but all the metal shavings go into the can lol how do you avoid that
I have to squeeze hard and rotate the can at least a full rotation. If I try light pressure it will not cut the can open.
crack the lid just a bit first, not fully opened, but just let off some pressure. it makes it easier
Just watched Shark Tank. I'm surprised these guy got a deal from Damon but hey way to go. My first thought was, so basically I would be washing off whatever is on the top of the can in my beer because the top goes into the beer. Even if you pop the tab first it looked like the top still got a beer wash. Am I right about that?
Jamaxe, thanks for the comment. In most cases the lid can be pulled out by hand or pushed in like the tab does with the normal method of opening. Don't worry its the same lid you put your lips on when you pop the tab :-) we recently released a 2.0 version of the tool and you can see that one @ drafttop.com🍻
U could use a magnet to hold the top of the can while you remove the draft top
Most cans are made of aluminum, and that, as such, doesn't react with magnets I'm afraid.
I keep getting metal pieces in mine and I have to fish them out. Always makes a mess. Falls right in and all the dust gets in my drink. Forwarded to this video. Very disappointed.
Any improvement on this issue?
I’m so so disappointed with this opener!
I’d like to know where to get one from.
I got mine from the Touch of Modern app
Hey!!! Went to website to buy one and it looks like they are not available. Can I buy one of the samples or test models? Also willing to test and review new designs.
Hi! We are ramping up for our launch. We have about 400 units to fulfill to get caught up with crowdfunding which was close to 40K units sold. Hopefully within the next few weeks we'll be able to launch. I would sign up for our email on our website to get updates for the launch!
@@TheDraftTop I think I have done that. I hope the product launch has a big payoff for you and the others involved. I am planning a launch of my own soon. I want to make canjos, diddly bows, and cigar box guitars. The canjos will be made out of empty aluminum cans, reclaimed wood, and other scavenged parts. I am eager to start testing prototypes and the Draft Top is essential to that process. I am hoping you can start selling product sooner than later. Sharing a virtual Guinness to your success.
Does this cause metal fragments to go into the liquid sometimes?
Marcin, we have found there are a lot of comments floating around with people having a knockoff version of the USA made Draft Top tool. These Knockoffs are can leave shards in your drink because of the large number of turns required on the can. If you pick up a 2.0 tool on drafttop.com it should only take a couple of turns to enjoy your topless beverage🍻
For the people who want to pull the top out maybe make a small hook on the piece you push the top into the can that is able to grab ahold of the tab and pull it out. Most people aren’t worried about the can being dirty just worried about their hands being dirty specially those who work in the trades that have dirty hand 90% of the time and don’t want dirt in their beer. Just food for thought...
A butter knife works perfectly to remove the top, once it is cut!! But ya I hope you guys update, with something to remove the tops. Hate having to fish it out!!
Bought one of these.. took a little practice to get the hang of it, but after a few tries, I became a pro. I loved it! Showed it to everyone! So novel. Then it broke. Less than a month after I bought it. Very upset.
Hi Christopher, sorry that happened. Popping tops is a serious game but less than a month is not good. Send our team an email at hello@drafttop.com and let's see if we can get you back in the drinking topless game🍻
I’m not sure the convenience or advantage of this. One con is that it’s easier to spill and easier to get debris in your drink. Is there any useful advantage?
Adding in the sense of smell to the equation that cans limit changes the drinking experience. It fits easily in a pocket it or a bag. Some folks will pour it into a cup (if one is on hand). Others will get a Draft Top 2.0. to go in their cooler. To each his own 🍻 Thanks for checking it out.
Mine is nothing like this. I have to squeeze extremely hard and still turn 10-15 times just to even make the first crack in the can.
have you tried the tool on different types of cans? It works on most 8oz to 19oz cans but we are finding some regions of the country and the world where there are cans it does not work on.
The Draft Top You can see my actual attempts here. we.tl/t-1XD5RtSB8w
Can you open a hard seltzer can like truly
Yes, the tool will open the hard seltzer cans as well. Even though they appear smaller in diameter than a regular 12oz can, they have the same size top. Hope this helps.
If u add a magnet to hold the top from going in
We wish we could, but unfortunately, aluminum is not magnetic. Thanks for checking us out 🍻
Literally white knuckling it
I just saw u guys on shark thank also and it got me curious 🤨 so here I am in uTube watching the video to understand more how it works and it looks like a great idea folks but definitely and no offense it need a few improvements most def especially now that we are on a pandemic era you now must consider that people are now very concerned of outside germs so my suggestion is you need to go back to the drawing boards and come with an update of this tool and I guarantee that you be doing fine but you need to update it .
Great idea.
🤞
Be safe
Juggalos.
Thank you, Yaagul, for the comment. We are always improving here at Draft Top. We recently released the 2.0 tool, and it solves a number of the upfront challenges. We would love for you to check out our NEW Homebrew How-To series as we are building on this platform as well. Thanks for the kind words🍻
I've been looking for a more difficult way to get to my beverage.
Watching this on mute since I'm on my 4th or so attempt of this tonight and for some reason cannot concentrate. But he seems to use much less pressure than I initially expected. I still had to go around 2-3 times, but using much less grip and squeeze pressure seemed to work so much better. Hope this helps
Do shards of metal ever get left in the can??
The USA made Draft Top 2.0 is designed to be safe to use and does not leave sharp edges or burrs. We have had some feedback that the knock-off versions some folks have purchased take too many rotations leaving metal shavings. Thanks for checking us out 🍻
Myth busters did a show on how the tops of cans don’t have bacteria and are safe. No need to clean. That was before Covid mind you
I still keep trying and really struggling.
Tried an 805 tall can won’t work at all
Okay I understand you have the original and not a Chinese imitation
Where do you buy the source?
drafttop.com/collections/shop
Подаруй мені її. Це супер винахід,!!!
Just got mine today. I give it 3.5 stars. Wasn’t easy to cut and had to make three attempts and ruined the can.
Draft Top should have a magnet so the top comes off. Nicer than having fall into the cup.
We wish we could, but unfortunately, aluminum is not magnetic. Thanks for checking us out🍻
for all the comments about adding a magnet to hold the lid to the device...cans are made of what metal? and....is said metal attracted to magnets? the answers are very easy to google. In the end, you'll change your mind about suggesting such a thing.
Your cutting the lid off isn't it sharp and aluminum shaves go inside your drink???
Louis, thanks for the inquiry. The rim of the can comes out smooth once you remove the top with a Draft Top 2.0 from drafttop.com. There are Knockoffs out there that can leave shards in your drink because of the large number of turns required on the can. With your 2.0 it should only take a couple of turns to enjoy your topless beverage🍻
1:58 there goes the emptys
Doesn't work on 24 oz beer
If this separated the lid without the lid going into the drink, I would buy one for myself and everyone I know. Us germaphobes would like a way to enjoy a canned beverage without as much anxiety. You're missing out on a huge market.
Pretty sure beer drinkers will just use a glass if they care that much about aroma.
Don't worry, it's the same lid you put your lips on when you pop the tab 🍻
@@TheDraftTop But that's just it - I don't like putting my lips on the top of the can. All the little crevices collect all kinds of gunk, dirt, and who knows what else. And it's not exactly the easiest place to wash, nor do you always have access to a sink when someone hands you a can of something. If the DT worked, I'd buy one to cut the lid off and pour into a glass without having any part of the outer can go into the beverage.
Basically, I'm saying you have more people to market to if it didn't push the lid into the can - like those can openers that pull the lid straight off because there's a magnet in the top, etc.
Thank you for your feedback. Rest assured we are working tirelessly to make Draft Top the ultimate drinking tool 🍻
Mine works great. Only bad thing is it seems like there is metal scrapage in the drink...
Biggest question is does it work on TALL cans
I got mine last night and tried it on a few tall boys and it does NOT work. It doesn’t grip it.
Don't get it
I just saw this product for a fraction of the retail price on aliexpress. I bet the quality is nowhere like this one. Are you aware that they are copying your product?
Haha, you do know that these guys get them from China just with their own brand on it. As for quality it will be the same.
@@drunkenmonkey31 oh, I didn't know that.
Lee, we assure you that's not the case. The quality of a Draft Top is night and day to a knockoff. We go the extra mile for the AmeriCAN made quality 🇺🇸
You can tell by the videos and ads for this product that its a bomb . They dont show anyone drinking from the can-probably because the shape of the lip makes you drool your drink easily. No close up of the cans edage. Also obvious that you will end up with the beverage getting on your hands and can from opening it. STicky fingers. Yuck Also great for attracting wasps to that sticky can if youre outdoors
Think I'll wait for version 2
Why not make an fishhook like metal hook that stabs through the top of the can in the middle? You would pierce the can with it and release the pressure, then it would lock into place as you turn it and would pull the lid up and off as you take the can opener off. Your welcome
Purchase was a BIGGGG mistake. Useless. Very disappointed, actually pissed they showed a completely different procedure.
What do you mean? The product works EXACTLY as I expected :/
@@AshBuxton Yes and thats why you had to make another video on how it works or how to operate it. Maybe it's how YOU expected it to work but not what was originally presented. Very disappointed. Should refund not be available a "better use" videos section should/will be made to show what dissatisfied people do with the scrap. Sorry but it is what it is. Had you shown this video when asking for support I don't believe you would have ever got it off the ground. I don't mean to be negative I'm just telling you the truth
As you can even see he's having an issue with using it.
JUNK
Ordered 10 hoping for great results & to give as gifts but it doesn't even work 😕
GREAT idea but in reality they're junk
I just got mine...it took a bit of practice but I managed to open 2 cans within 10 minutes of taking it out of the packaging just like the video showed
Aluminum is NOT magnetic people... 🤦🏻♂️
Facebook commercial video: "Made in US, american product.
Order confirmation/ tracking says:
Hello from YANWEN FACILITY, CHINA.
Ah. Trump invaded China last week???
Markus, sounds like it was a Chinese knockoff. Ours are made in the good old USA. drafttop.com is a good place to shop. Make sure it's the real thing 🇺🇸
Yea... drop that dirty lid right into your beer.... YUCK!
ruclips.net/video/UBat9Rp5t58/видео.html
Ruins 95% cans I use it on, even after watching all the tips and tricks. Feels like cheap plastic. Disappointed
Hey jaxmon21, step one is always to make sure you have the American 🗽 Made tool (should say it on the blade side bottom middle). Step 2, if you do, is to give enough grip to the bottom of the can so that it doesn't spin when you turn it and a little more pressure on the top twist. It's a bit different for everyone, but when you get it, you'll get a rhythm. Keep popping those tops 🍻
@@TheDraftTop mine is the American made but the blades seem very dull, ruins most cans
@jaxmon21, reach out to our team at hello@drafttop.com and let’s see if they can assist if there is a problem with the tool.
This does not work at all
I literally can't hear almost anything of what you're saying ... why are you whispering? I wish I could hear what you have to say about this opener. How about re-recording it?
Anyone want 4; I'm willing to sell
