    After using the Draft Top Lift several times, I was able to have it leave a clean top without that little burr. I rotated it several times like you showed in the video and then put my finger on the tab (to pin it to the draft top) and rotated it in the opposite direction until the lid came off.

    • @TailgatingChallenge
      @TailgatingChallenge  Год назад +2

      Thanks! I’ll have to try that. Did it leave the little imperfection if you did the “normal” way?

    • @wrenchdoozer
      @wrenchdoozer Год назад +2

      @@TailgatingChallenge Yes I got the same imperfection, one time (out of four "normal" tries) it was even worse than what happened to yours.

      I have not had the burr problem. I also have not popped the top even slightly before using. I think popping the top may cause the burr. I tried reversing direction once but the lid when in the can.

    great review. I just got my Lift today and have done 10 cans of different beers and sparking water brands. only 1-2 had the burr but I chalk that up to user error. I didn't pre-open the can tab but made sure I had it "locked" in position before rotating the can. it actually works better than I thought it would. my only improvement suggestion would be for a couple small magnets in the base so it could stick to the side of my fridge when not in use.

    • @TailgatingChallenge
      @TailgatingChallenge  Год назад +1

      Agreed magnets were on their last version and they should have kept on this one too!

    Been using a Version 3 for a couple years. Got the Version 4 today and it's great. I used the 3 mostly for 16 oz cans of Zero Ultra because it didn't work well with 12 oz cans of Diet Coke or whatever. The 4 works great for both.

    Over the first couple of weeks I had my Draft Top Lift I probably opened a dozen cans. Every single one of them had the same little burr. I had first tried on beer cans but then tried on soda cans as well as a few hard seltzer cans, all had the same little burr. I reached out to them about the burr, and even mentioned your review video and they said it should not leave a burr. They replied with:
    "The fact that there are several can variations on the market, and our tool was designed to work on all of them, it could have something to do with the can profile. One other recommendation to consider would be to push down on the tool slightly so it stays flat on the rim of the can while rotating. The reason for this is that it ensures the cutting point starts and stops at the same height, leaving a clean cut. The image you shared with us seems to indicate that the cut is starting higher on the rim and ending much lower, which leaves that unfavorable outcome."
    They offered to send me another one or issue a refund. I elected for a replacement because I love the idea of the tool. While waiting for the replacement I of course tried their recommendation to the best of my ability and still was getting the burr. The replacement arrived, tried it out on some beer cans at first and got the same burr. I wrote them again, and they ended up refunding me. In their emails, they certainly did not seem concerned. Overall I like the design, but that little burr makes me hesitant to use it, I certainly do not want to be swallowing sharp pieces of metal.

      Agreed I just note the one spot and don’t drink from that edge as the rest is smooth but seems like an opportunity to for upgrades in their next edition

    Recently purchased one of these I've opened about five cans with it now and it does a good job opening the cans and leaving a smooth edge but it does leave little metal shavings inside the cans regardless what they say I promise you it leaves metal shavings in the cans they are small enough to where they float but still

    As a retired flight attendant the 1st thing I thought when I saw this was "that looks like a campact, lightweight travel can opener!" Do all beer cans get smaller at the top? Would this work with regular cans like soup, etc? And if not, make one that does! How much does this weigh? That's really important for travel!

    • @TailgatingChallenge
      @TailgatingChallenge  Год назад

      Hey the can size could be different and this is more focused on beer cans than say a can of soup.
      Now this will work for soft drinks and other things in a similar can.

    Does anyone read instructions? You don't have to rotate it more than one revolution. You have to put it so the tab lines up in the middle, squeeze the handles, turn one revolution, release the handles, then lift up. Works like a charm every single time.
