I keep being amazed at how much you keep gleaning from these translations. Whenever I get notified of an upload I save it to my watch later and watch it as soon as I can watch it with full attention. Keep it up!
Fantastic video as always! I I wonder if the temple Shinobi are desperately trying to get divine abduction back because some of them want to get more children since they can no longer reach the child. It might’ve been a rushed and poorly planned assault if there is division amongst the monks or if they’ve run out of test subjects completely, and aren’t willing to be patient.
The Kannon statue is in an atypical pose for the goddess, one of the "reclining Buddha" representing acceptance of death. One could speculate on the connection between the deceased ape found in the upper cavern and the Guardian Ape. But I'm more interested in a wild idea that suddenly came to mind when you pointed out that the great snake can be seen from the Ape's pool where he grows his lotus in hopes of giving it to his future "wife" -- is he trying to "marry" the snake, as so many have before???
This is just speculation, but about why the Ninja was attempting to assault the gunfort, could it be related to what you mentioned later on about Shinto-Buddhist syncretism and the conflict between the "native people" and Buddhism? The Senpou monks are extremely twisted in their faith, so they may have seen the women of the Sunken Valley as a potential threat to their own political power over Ashina, either due to having a "god-like being" that was far more physical and beautiful, and therefor could more easily convince people to follow them compared to the very revolting "miracles" of Senpou Temple, or as simple as wanted to eliminate a group who could counter the close ranged senpou monks rather well IF a conflict ever occurred. Maybe long ago before the temple was so corrupted, relations were better and so those buddha statues were made in the Sunken Valley shrines, but as the temple grew more corrupted, they changed their minds and now decided to eliminate the Sunken Valley residents, only to arrogantly underestimate how powerful they are on defense. It would also explain why Giraffe is down there as well. Giraffe's followers all seem to be men, so perhaps they were serving the elite sniper women by mining the resources needed to operate and create their firearms, but Senpou Temple may have also bought resources for them to create all their weird homing bombs. Then when the Temple began to change so much, Sen Un decided to defect from the Valley and side with the Temple, while Giraffe stayed loyal to his mistress instead. Regardless, lovely video. The Sunken valley was always a favorite spot of mine because of how it does "the snow level", but in a far more interesting way, being a frigid windswept ravine rather than "snowy fields" like you see in a lot of other games.
I always had a theory that the gun fort key was inside Ashina Castle because the two clans had some sort of agreement . Afterall we can find some of the men from the gun fort defending some places of Ashina castle and outskirts. Also, the great serpent shrine is located near Ashina castle, so maybe they managed to bond over mutual respect for the same nushi lol.
Unfortunately, there isn't much. The artbook doesn't have any details apart from the name and the concept art. They look really ancient and they have ropes on wrists and on their necks. Some other ropes look like they tie the divers to the inside of the wall. Maybe in the olden times they were put there - or exiled there - to guard the White Serpent. I would love to learn more about them, but there isn't much to go on.
Oops! 神仏 should be transcribed as [shimbutsu], not [shinbutsu], it's like [sempo:]. Sorry (ノ*°▽°*)
I always wondered about Giraffe's name, your theory about Shirafuji being his star is amazing and definitely canon for me now

It's a great day when Shetani uploads. Thanks!
Giraffe’s name’s origin is hilarious, thanks for explaining that!
If the monks wanted the dragonhomecoming ending, they would want to get two serpent fruits, which are beyond the gunfort

Shirahagi isn’t actually immune to poison, just very very very resistant. I know because I cheese her with the poison lake. :>
Nice explanation as always🙌. Pls make a video on Loneshadows, it would be sick.

LOVE your videos, thanks for all the hard work.

Do you have any lote on the rock divers?
