Playing through Sekiro was a delight but these videos enrich the experience that much more. I really enjoy how thorough you are and how much time you afford for places that a player is typically fighting through rather than taking in. It's nice to sit back and imbibe the rich world of Sekiro and I appreciate that this channel has afforded that for so many people!

You've got me curious about the deer antlers.
My theory is that maybe they are related to the worship of the Divine Dragon. The "Old Dragons of the Tree" seem to have antlers.
Chinese dragons are also often depicted as having stag antlers.
I also found a god that is associated with deer. Jurōjin (寿老人), he is a god of longevity, fitting for Sekiro, but I'm not sure they are related.

I always thought the concept art suggested that Kuro, or some divine heir, had perhaps, foolishly gifted many of the main characters immortality and each of them was trying to make Ashina a better place in the way they saw fit. Wolf would’ve been but one immortal walking the land.
I was just thinking about rewatching the whole translation playlist and then this chunk of gold was dropped.
Just finished watching the vid, truly an enriching experience as always!
But it made me realize something about Dragonspring sake and Ashina sake...
In the previous vids we discussed on how Ashina sake is made from waters flowing from the Fountainhead (contrary to what the english localization said), and since Dragonspring was another name for the actual Fountainhead, Dragonspring sake was made out of Fountainhead waters, and that made sense since it's the rarest kind of sake and we find it mostly around Fountainhead Palace.
But now we know that Dragonspring is the name of the river that flows in Hirata Estate and through the land of Ashina as a whole. So here's what puzzling me, which water source is closest to the Fountainhead and why do we find Dragonspring sake in mibu village and the palace? Doesnt the association with dragonspring river seems a little out of place now?

as for the Tengu wearing, a weird example to bring up is that a character in Art of Fighting, when he's trying to hide his identity when forced to do criminal acts, adopts the persona of Mr. Karate, and more importantly, starts wearing a Tengu Mask. weirdly enough I also vaguely remember multiple times in media of seeing characters who want to hide their identity use Noh theatre masks in general.
I wonder if there's a thing going on... In any case great video as always 🦀

A note on 葦名流伝場, the Ashina esoteric texts are called 葦名流の伝書, which also seems to be a word invented by this game (though i could be wrong, i only did a quick google and jisho search to confirm it), using the same 伝 kanji as 葦名流伝場. I the 伝 kanji implies that its a style thats passed down within the ashina clan, and 葦名流伝場 would be "the place where the ashina style is passed down"! This is just my personal opinion though as my interest in kanji is pretty surface level ^-^

I just want to say thank you so much for these videos, they make me love one of my favorite games even more.
Something else I really love about Genichiro is how his fights perfectly mirror Sekiro's and your own skill level, in the first fight you are weak just like Sekiro, in the second fight you are finally leaning the sword and stand toe to toe with Genichiro and in the final fight you have mastered the sword and Genichiro is little more than a stepping stone on your way to Isshin

Does the room with the divine dragon shrine not have a name?
If you mean the cave in the Fountainhead Palace, both the cave and the stone that transports Wolf to the Divine Realm have names. We'll get to them in the Fountainhead Palace episode.
@@shetanislair I mean after the ante-chamber idol. You find a hole in the roof of the room where the two samurai are studying a map on the ground. Once you drop out of the whole in the roof you find yourself in a room where you can open the door to the previous hall. On the wall there is a small icon of the divine dragon.
Oh, I see what you mean. No, that room is not pictured in the artbook at all.
