In the creator commentary, they admit to being fearful of this term sticking to Harley riders and Hell's Angels types because of possible retaliation. They go after dictators, politicians, suspected murderers, etc. But this was the episode they worried most about changing society because they intentionally tried to get the F-word to be permanently taken away from the gay community and placed on another group. Jokes aside i feel this way about a lot of pejorative terms and slurs. The meaning of curse words change all the time. Many of them disappear entirely. I doubt a woman would be offended if i called her a 'cherry' (slut) or a 'strumpet' (whore). However these past few decades we've tried to ban certain curse words because we find them offensive. And while i honestly believe thats well intentioned, it has the side-effect of locking a curseword in place.
If we were still allowed to say the f-word it might very well be on its way to have a different meaning by now. Hell, when this episode came out it legitimately was already changing away from something purely meant for gay people. However we decided it was a slur that cant be uttered and as such have locked its meaning in place and ensured its continued survival. And because we've made it so taboo, it has become way more powerful as an insult when it IS used.

Hard disagree. Words like that don't get 'locked into place' by discouraging their use. That would actually have the opposite effect.
Bigots will still want to broadcast their bigotry so they will just use more acceptable disparaging terms instead, like 'degenerate', for the same group. Once they've associated that group with 'degenerate', they aren't going back to using the F word, even in private. The word will be unused and forgotten, or the meaning will change. But expecting it to happen in a lifetime is pretty optimistic. It's a slow process no matter what.

Hey dash! Glad you watched it 😀. Yeah its thought provoking and just like the "with apologies to Jesse jackson" episode they use the word about 2000 times. I bet trey and mat wrote this episode after having to deal with some annoying Harley riders.
I understand that this episode is kind of hard to react to on youtube since the platform is not great with understanding words in context, which is kind of ironic since it is the whole plot of the episode.
Love your reactions and you deserve a lot more subs.

When I watch a normal episode, it feels like something is missing hahaha You're doing a great and funny job here, big hug from Brazil. Oh, my suggestion is to watch the Black Friday (Game of Thrones based) and Coon and Friends sequences, maybe two 40min videos reacting to all the "sagas" in each one. Sorry for my english btw, I think it's not perfect yet.

I mean, I'm perfectly fine answering your original question the way it was asked. I was Bike-Curious until about February of this year, when bought my first Harley Davidson motorcycle. I absolutely love riding it. Most of the time when I'm out riding it's got a lot less to do with wanting people to be looking at me and draw a bunch of attention and a lot more with the joy of the ride; the wind in my face and the freedom of the open road. Now, if I happen to catch someone looking at my bike while I'm out and about, I'll probably rev it up a little bit to show off a touch, especially if it's a kid who is trying to get me to make some noise, but in general I just wanna go about my ride and getting people all worked up over the noise is counterproductive to that goal.

Fun fact. Loud pipes save lives. It's annoying, however as a truck driver, I can't count how many time I almost changed lanes but heard loud pipes and decided not to. Sometimes you just can't see them, but if you hear them, you know they are there.

As someone who thinks you can make a joke about anything and that words can change I always come back to one thing, intent. What are your intentions in saying a word? Is it to hurt someone? Belittle or make them feel like less of human? You can call someone a "dirty towel" with the same hate or malice that one might use the N or F word and I believe that that is what matters, not necessarily the word.

Like many South Park episodes, this one is definitely relatable in today's times on so many levels and it's amazing how people take it the wrong way if you don't put it into context. Especially in today's times, but yet a lot of people today get offended over almost everything. So the moral of the story is to be careful about what you say because it'll come back to get you one way or another.
