Happy Halloween! If I missed you, Happy Belated Halloween!
I thought it was Christmas outside, because every reaction from you is like a present. Keep up a good job.
Happy Halloween
Do a react on “insecurity” episode
Happy Halloween ❤ some people don't need a mask 😂
Glad you reacted to this episode. Was wondering what you'd think about the part of Randy's incomprehensible babbling. I thought it was funny course most of this episode is like the end with him telling Sharon what he wanted from McDonald's. Have a good day dash hope you have a good November and December.
Bro your ability to spot previous references is really good. The way you caught Ted Boyatt’s knife was a highlight
Yeah I wonder why that was in there. Was it actually supposed to mean anything, or did the animator just type in switchblade into the search and picked what they had?
They have been making these later episodes at record speed after all.
@@brei2670 Yeah I think it's a reused asset
Yeah what the Hell. Him spotting that was insane.
Trent Boyatt?
@@nickevershedmusic8927😂
I’ve watched this entire series over 5x and Dash is still able to point out nuances I never noticed before! Keep it up Dash!!
For real! Keen eyes
He's watching sober though
im astonished how you even remembered such a small detail like trent boyetts knife, ive been watching south park for years and never noticed that lmao
you know people can just look up things, right
which is the appeal of his reactions to boot, not throwing shade... but I got to burst your bubble here if you think he just spots and remembers everything. Which he clearly isn't claiming either, just wild that people in here are so surprised by google voodoo is all
@minhuang8848 So you're accusing him of looking up things he may have missed and then editing in himself noticing said detail?
@@chandlerh2408 I mean... plenty of occurrences where he doesn't notice these details and then adds in the reference. I really don't understand how this process is confusing.
And if he wanted to, he could always read ahead. Prewatch andys do exist, as much as I don't really care either way.
@@minhuang8848 What would even be the point? What you're saying isn't "confusing" it's just fucking stupid.
@@minhuang8848 I get what you're saying, but the original comment was SPECIFICALLY referring to Trent Boyett's knife and how that's a small detail that Dash was able to notice. Which he really did notice while watching, and didn't just add the reference during editing.
I find John Carpenter's The Thing to be worth watching. Kurt Russell is awesome, special effects great, and the suspense thrilling!
I concur
Really good movie
Just watched the scifi horror ‘Life’, and it’s one of the few decent movies of that genre I’ve seen in years. The Thing is a classic, even the newer one is worth seeing.
Oh yes... John Carpenter's The Thing is a special one.
Absolutely
DASH! 2 videos in a few days! What did we do to deserve this?
Love your reactions man. You are the best tv/movie react channel on RUclips. Not only are you fun to watch with, you add context , explain references and add to the enjoyment of the show.
I’ve been watching South Park since I was way too young . But you catch things that I miss .
I always look forward to your posts
This comment… is everything.
Thank you so much for being here. 🙏
I second that! nobody does it it Dash
I can 100% agree, his videos are so enjoyable!
STANNY BOYYYY
You said it all mate. I may have seen more South Park, but Dash has seen way more stuff generally. He's the ideal viewer of this show, and therefore the ideal reactor.
Man nothing beat those days of going to blockbuster on a Friday and picking up a pizza and chilling at the house
I’m probably younger than you so I don’t have the blockbuster memories. But before Covid I agree not much could beat going to family video and getting a large pizza from macros and getting a free movie rental through their partnership along with whatever game I was renting for the next 5 days 👍🏼
I was 10 yr old renting all my ps2 games there
If they can ever capture that smell of a Blockbuster and put it in a candle I’d buy it in a heartbeat
@friedporchetta Did blockbuster have that private room or was that only in mom and pop shops? You know what i'm talking about... The one the kids at sneak into When their parents weren't looking...
@@theduckfromthejoke152 I don't think so the one that was by me didn't have one
I actually worked at Blockbuster when this episode came out. I was very confused the next day when a friend of mine texted me "Ha ha, you work at Blockbuster."
This was in 2012, I watched the episode when it originally aired. Also the interesting coincidence was the episode aired about a day or 2 after watching The Shining for the first time in Horror literature class for community college. So when I saw the South Park episode for the first time The Shining was still fresh in my head and I understood all the jokes that relates to The Shining. I even told my instructor about it from that class but I had a really bad way of explaining it to him so he doesn't get how it spoofs The Shining.
You know, it just hit me you have Randy saying physical is better than digital the entire time, meanwhile Stan just wanted to physically be there with his friends instead of streaming him being there.
Did you know Bruce Vilanch sends Matt and Trey Christmas cards? He appreciates being the joke in a few different episodes so much that he had to show his appreciation somehow.
Happy Halloween Dash! Thanks for uploading this South Park episode reaction!
Happy Halloween, Rip! Thanks for watching!
You know I appreciate you.
@@dash.reacts Havent seen the thing??? duuuuuuude.
I love how Officer Peterson just went along with what Randy was doing. No questions asked 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
RIP Gangnam-stein
"Renting DVDs is MORE ancient than Madonna's boobs!"
Well, I prefer "as ancient as" Madonna's boobs. Either way, I LOVE that line!
Yes! The Thing is most definitely worth a watch, the number of RUclips video essays on that film alone makes it a must-see movie. The special effects are incredible, the concept and dialogue are timeless, and it's directed by John Carpenter, the father of the Slasher genre! Definitely see The Thing asap.
Man, I’ve never felt less of a South Park fan than you pointing out that the thief had Trent’s knife. I never caught that and I watched this episode so many times
The Shining references are so good! 😂
Totally agree..and I don't even like the movie.Prefer the novel.
The Thing and The Shining are in my top 5 horror movies of all time ! lol
''Blockbuster LLC closed all of its corporate-owned stores by early 2014, leaving the Bend location as one of 50 remaining franchise stores.
In July 2018, it became the last remaining Blockbuster in the United States, and in March 2019,
...the last in the world.''
Assuming the people of Bend, Oregon, must be considering it an historical building by now, lol
Fun fact! In the shining book, it ends with the boiler exploding and the overlook burning down, killing Jack in the process. Much different than in the movie where he freezes in the maze trying to catch Danny. So in the episode, Matt and Trey are paying homage to both the book and the movie by having the blockbuster burn down and having Randy freeze in the cold!
I remember when blockbuster was so packed I would drive 10 miles outside of town to a little independent store so I didn't have to wait in line forever.
8:15
Cartman: Holy shit! They shot this guy!
Kyle: Oh, my god!
Kenny: Dude, fuck this! Let’s bail!
Dash: That’s a great way to get yourselves killed. You’re just wearing costumes.
I missed this episode, thanks for finding it, the reaction was really funny.
That "Kill All Betrayers" reference...did you realized you have become an expert in South Park's lore?
By the way, I consider "The Thing" one of the best movies ever made. Stunning practical effects (let's say incredible), perfect pacing, good action and is also a psychological thriller!
The Thing is 100% worth watching. Love all the little details you pick up in each episode. Toy are by far the best South Park reactor. Happy Halloween Dash.
I love the shining spoofs, randy gradually going insane. I swear you must have seen every single movie made to catch every reference in south park 😂
Dash your ability to find the easter eggs in these videos is amazing. Also thanks for all the Japanese info that occasionally comes along in South Park. Awesome.
9:33 you literally pick up on everything❤
the blockbuster we had in lex sc used to have some AWESOME anime vids. I do miss those days
Yes The Thing is absolutely worth watching! Still has a claim for best practical effects ever, and is widely considered one of the GOATs within the horror community. Not for everyone though, the gore is nuts.
3:21
Stan: I think something might be wrong with Dad.
Sharon: Ya think?
Yes it's totally worth watching! All these years later The Thing is still my favorite movie. It's written so well, everytime I see it I find some new details. It's soo good. The fact that it didn't do good at the box office is a crime.
Yea it’s my favorite sci-fi horror flick of all time. The way Carpenter was able to basically have three antagonists with the shape shifting “thing”, extreme paranoia, and environment (isolation). Cast was great, especially Russell and Keith David. The practical effects. Love everything about it, haha that ending never gets old
My family used to go to blockbuster so much. 😂 I love Randy. He’s my favorite character in the show.
Omg I watched this episode maybe over 15 times and I never noticed the writting on the blade is the same as Trent Boyet's! This is why I love your channel. You cover so many reference I didn't know about or have missed in the past.
Blockbuster video has been out since 2010 as the original company, then Dish Network bought them only for them close in 2013, 2014 for corporate stores, and as a chain, 2020.
As of today, there is literally 1 Blockbuster store still open in Bend, Oregon; and it's basically a tourist attraction these days.
I love the shining references in this episode happy Halloween. 🎃
I just LOVE how you catch every reference, even subtle ones. You earned a subscriber
Did this man just ask if he should watch The Thing? YES YOU SHOULD WATCH THE THING!
"The Thing" is one of the greatest sci fi horror flicks starring Kurt Russell.
8:30 "Skar bj Dmitri Tiompkin.....riemaed mvvwie skar, graet schitt, that, bj Ennio Morricein"
Crackle was Sony's free streaming service offered on its smart TV's and Blu-ray players in the late 2000s to about 2017 or so. They discontinued it when they realized they could make more money doing it Netflix-style.
I never noticed the “Kill All Betrayers” on the burglar’s knife from the Pre-School episode. Good eye!!
The Thing (1982) is an absolute classic. The prequel they made in 2011 hits a lot of the same beats, and fills in some backstory, but you would probably be better served just watching the original first.
Unrelated, but Randy’s McDonald’s order at the end was basically exactly what I would order every time, except I’d swap the Sweet and Sour for Honey Mustard 😋
The prequel fucked up by replacing the practical effects with CGI.
The Thing has the greatest practical effects of any Horror movie I've seen.
It's a classic.
I love how no minds Randy going insane, like he’s not as much of a threat as Jack from The Shining.
The "kill all betrayers" on the knife reference I would have never found!
Oh I am so happy to see you post again in just a few days! You are my favorite youtuber, I am autistic so watching this channel has become daily habit, I watch while I cook and get ready in the morning ☺️ I hope you have a lovely day, and thank you from Iceland!
I love the running joke of Cartman being Bruce Villanche
Blockbuster is my childhood. Freaking out when you realize your video was due back a week ago...lol
Two reactions in a couple days hell ya Dash!!! Definitely should watch The Thing some of the best practical effects to date looks better then most CGI nowadays awesome movie!
I do kind of miss renting movies though. It was fun as a kid to go to the video store and pick out a movie
When I was a kid, our apartment was right next to a small convenience mall that had a Blockbuster. We'd go every Friday to rent a movie for the weekend, and maybe a game, and get popcorn as well. We once rented The Dark Crystal for a sleepover, and one scene scared tiny 8 year-old me so bad I ran and hid in the bathroom 😆
Honestly glad I discovered ur channel Dash, truly one of my favorite people to watch rn 😂keep up the hard work fr
I miss video stores so much brings back so many good memories.
Randy is the type of guy who had like many jobs as a Blockerbuster rental guy since he was a geologist
I have such fond memories of loading the family in the covered wagon and rumbling into town to the Blockbuster. Oh, and candy corn is delicious.
It’s all fun and games on the covered wagon until you get dysentery
I use to work for their competitors, Hollywood Video🤦🏿♀️🤣
I know you're a Butters fan. You should also watch Raisins... that's one of my favorite episodes and probably my favorite Butters moment, too.
Classic episode, I watched this episode before I watched the shinning so it completely went over my head.
You’re normally so good at spotting references (significantly better than me, normally) I was shocked at how long The Shining took to pop up!
8:33 did you ask if the 1982 Thing is worth watching? Umm yeah. It’s one of the best horror films of all time.
Wow, I have never noticed the knife the thief uses is Trent Boyett's, you're really good a seeing small details like that
I worked as a manager of Blockbuster for 5 years. Good times, for a job.
OMG Thank you so much for this video, I was wondering if you were going to post this one or not after I sent the comment along with many others. Happy Halloween
I love how all the references were to movies that at one time you could only find in a video store. The McDonalds order at the end was what Trey was eating in the "Six Days to Air" documentary. Sorry to say... I was an All Star Video fan. My sister worked for them, corporate. We almost never paid for videos and we got early releases and pre-screen versions too. Late fees? pfft... they didn't exist for my family. 💅
I need a "no I-pads were harmed in the making of this film" would have been hilarious at the end
8:33
Little slow at first half, but will eventually thrown you into a roller coaster of emotions. Truly a classic horror, that was ahead of its original release.
Im already counting down the days until we get dash reacting to the panderverse!
Fri-sat night closing shifts were a madhouse in the early 90s. Not for the faint of heart. “Did any Basic Instincts come back yet?” “Do you have this one for the Super Ninentdo?” “I’m not paying those late fees!”
Ganganam Style was THE song of all time. I can't understand it but is kweel
Ive seen these episodes dozens of times but its like im watching for the first time with all the references that you point out. Especially the one that have Japanese becuz you translate them.
You’ve never seen the thing?!!! You gotta watch it that movie is unforgettable, also horrific, disgusting, anxiety inducing, and a practical effects masterpiece, but especially unforgettable
Definitely recommend The Thing. Not only is it a remake of The Thing from Another World, but it's also part of John Carpenter's Apocalypse trilogy.
These are my favorite kinds of episodes, where the boys are just acting like kids.
This is probably one of my favorite episodes. I never get tired of Randy's utter refusal to accept that he made a bad move lmao
I forgot how funny Randy's sadness is.
thing 82 is a _lot_ of peoples favorite movie, regardless of it being horror.
it's a tight script thriller and no dumb sideplot of romance interest or something. very focused
i liked it
13:25 Holding a FaceTime iPad like a decapitated head was genius
I really miss the video shop era. I have such fond memories of going down to our local shopping centre which had a small mum & pop video store and hiring movies on a friday night, all VHS of course. You could often get 5 movies for $5 for a whole week! Man I wish I could turn back time...
The Family Video stayed open in my area until around 2019, so even though I didn’t have many experiences with Blockbuster, I still have nostalgia about going out to rent DVD’s. As a kid who’s parents weren’t used to buying stuff digitally, that was the main way we watched movies, and how I played so many games.
3:11 Formerly named Grouper and Sony Crackle, Crackle was an American video streaming service founded in 2004. The service was purchased by Sony Pictures in 2006 and was renamed as Crackle. In 2018, the name was changed to Sony Crackle. Basically, before there was Netflix, we had THIS.
The Thing is an all time classic. The title and cover give it a sluggish sort of B movie appearance but it's razor sharp, engaging, slick. One of the best suspense thriller type things ever
As always this is so much better with you explaining the references
In Auburn, CA, when Blockbuster went out of business, they used to put up a Halloween retail in there.
The Thing is up there with The Fly. Practical Effects still have that effect to this day. U could make a reaction if you want or simply enjoy em in your own time.
The Thing is one of my favourite movies of all time, definitely worth a watch
The thing is IMO the best horror thriller ever made. The practical effects still hold up today.
All of this talk about Blockbuster makes me miss the 90s.
In the late 90's and early 2000's I only go to Hollywood video to rent movies, but during that time I also go to Blockbuster only to buy used vhs tapes and dvds. It's because Hollywood video let's you rent new movies for 5 days, or was it 2 days? I forgot which but I just know it wasn't just one day like Blockbuster. I remember some of the used videotapes I bought from Blockbuster, I think in 1999 or was it 98? I bought a used videotape of Mortal Kombat Annihilation(a movie I hate right now, as a kid I was in denial that it's bad, and it has a cool VHS front cover), and in 2001 I remember buying used videotapes on Mission Impossible 2 and Charlies Angels. Only once in a while I would go to a Blockbuster just to buy candy. So yea this were my memories of Blockbuster and Hollywood Video in the late 90's and early 2000's. Oh yea and the last time I rented a movie from Blockbuster was in 2005 and that was Son of the Mask.
4:08 I tried candy corn for the first time a couple of days ago, I actually quite enjoyed it.
the thibg is one of the best horror movies IMO, one of the few old ones were the special effects still hold up
The Thing is still one of the best sci-fi horror flicks to this day arguably the best imo.
This episode was surprisingly good, best costume goes to Timmy's Gangnam style 😂
Ive seen this episode so many times and I NEVER caught the Trent Boyett knife easter egg. This why you’re my favorite reactor on the Tube!!!!
The Thing is absolutely worth watching and one of my Top 10 movies.
How y'all doin Dash. I'm from the UK but I lived in Atlanta in 1985 & 86. My father worked for IBM up on the hill, the HQ's. We lived on Terrell Mill R'd in the Post Mill condo complex. As the crow flew, we were maybe 1 mile from Dobbins AFB which incorporated Lockheed. So every day we had the C5B Galaxy flying directly over us, at least a dozen times. And they were so low due to their weight. There was the Big Chicken on the I75 heading out to Kennesaw. You asked during the episode "Pee" where we all went swimming. Lake Allatoona just north of Kennesaw. We also frequented Six Flags over Georgia, Stone Mountain with the amazing laser show, Roswell R'd for clubs, & Lake Lanier occasionally. We canoed the section of river where Burt Reynolds made that fantastic movie too. But we travelled a lot, places like New Orleans (Bourbon S't was superb) & had a trip on the Natchez. The Great Smokey Mountains was wonderful with native American Indians selling their wares. I would have loved to stay but we only had a 2 year "Green Card". Having lived in at least 15 places, I have to say Atlanta was the best. Oh, Wendy's & Fuddruckers were my favourite burgers, not forgetting Red Lobster. I will revisit soon, but I wonder how much has changed. Anyway, I love South Park for being non PC with such clever episodes utilising other famous shows, films etc. AND I USED TO WATCH "Leave it to Beaver." And "Bosom Buddies" with a very young Tom Hanks. I'd like to ask which S P episode has made you laugh the most? Mine? The J Lo episode. Best wishes sir, Graeme, UK.
I remember having to rewind vhs tapes before returning lol
I waited all year before I suggested this hoping you wouldn't touch until Halloween. You're the man! By far one of my favorite episodes. Laughed the whole time 🤣😂
If you want to see a true hidden gem of modern South Park, please check out " 23x04 - Let Them Eat Good".
I it's a bit under the radar, but it is one of the funnies normal episodes of the last couple of years.
Nice hallmark reminder for classics to watch this time thanks again for revealing the reference for some that just know them but not the movie hope you had fun Halloween or if it’s till on an happy one
I lost it when you showed your Blockbuster Card XD I kinda wish I still had mine now.
Two consecutive videos? Feels more like Christmas than Halloween.
Bonus point for getting the Monster Mash lyrics 😂. I dont know how you even peeped the knife!
