Originally, the episode ended with the boys finally getting into HSM, but everyone was now into Twilight, and began dressing as vampires...Much to the annoyance to the Goth Kids. Trey and Matt took that idea, and it became the episode "Ungroundable."
That is my favorite Butters episode haha, I'm still so shocked Dash hasn't seen it yet!

Born in the early 90s, I feel old for having gotten Pokemon Gold when it came out. I know that's not a major historical event. Still, if you look at how technology progressed compared to the technical specs of the game boy and the games for it, it's a distance of light years in technological capability.

i lived in Germany when i was a kid, from 1986-93, and boy when the wall came down, it was just an excuse for everyone to party 😂

It's what they serve after the men's choir club rehearsals. The old story - go to choir rehearsal, get drunk, come home and slap the wife.
My grandma was a "military brat" her father was high ranking (my grandmother herself would be in the air force as an adult) and she went to elementary school in Germany right after the end of the war. She has some incredible stories from that time.
One of the big ones is that they lived amid all of these bombed out buildings and there was one on their block that all of the neighborhood kids played in despite being told by their parents not to, my grandmother and her sisters included. There was a rubble pile in the basement of the building that they used to climb on a lot. It turns out there was a live bomb under that rubble pile. Could have exploded at any time and luckily it didn't before being discovered and disarmed.

In today's times, laughter is absolutely necessary. The older South Park episodes made me laugh till I hurt.
I couldn't agree more. I challenge anyone to offend me about anything. I'm a 2nd generation Indian American. Roast me. If the joke is clever enough I will LMAO. Getting offended is for Gen Z and A, the inferior generations.
The only thing I would roast cheerfullycynical829 for is acting like being offended is age specific as if the Reagan/FCC/pearl glitching original founder s of cancel culture never happened lol. And those were the first people to go after south park in the first place.

It makes me remind of my last year as elementary school student in Italy in 2008 and indeed it was a big hit there as well. Again South Park has nailed it perfectly
I visited the Berlin Wall at checkpoint charlie a few years ago, it’s amazing you can still see part of the structure throughout the city.

I never saw High School Musical either, I was too old for it when it came out. The kids that grew up when High School Musical came out are in their 20's and 30's today.

I was in a middle school play called "High School Musical" but I played a character that wasn't in any of the movies. I played a nerdy announcer for the school and the great part of that role was that I was able to read from the script itself.
I've watched South Park ever since I was a kid in the 90's, originally with subtitles and then without once I learned English.
Now it's been some years already, but I actually did my BA thesis on South Park 😄 I really like listening to your videos, because you've clearly taken the time to look into the thought and idea behind these episodes! Of course, especially the Japanese ones are imo the best - plus I finally learned the lyrics of the Mecha Streisand song thanks to you 😂
I never liked watching musical until i saw Wonka, The Book of Mormon, and the South Park movie.

Hoping you consider watching Episodes 200 and 201! Not only my favorite two-parter, but a giant love letter to the series as a whole, with so many amazing call-backs and returns of the show's history and characters. They're not streaming though, but you can find 'em if you do a little google digging or get the Season 14 DVD

One of the more weird things to me is how Germany wasn't a united country for amount of time. I remember history of Germany from ww1-2 but seems so strange that such advance country today had such a bizarre history of just being a pawn.
I had free lunch and gave my number to a buddy to pick it up. I didn't care to eat it, i brought my own stuff (a bag of chips) other than thursdays which was turkey and gravy. homie got my free lunch 4/5 days a week and delivered my turkey and gravy one day a week :P

3:50 - Berlin Wall went down 3 years before I was born. Since I learned about it in History it always felt like ancient history or something, so it's always crazy to me when I remember my parents were alive while it was up.
Personally I enjoy the SNL sketch where they actually get Zack Efron to come and give a speech to kids graduating from the musical high school after he’s been in college for a year or two.

As far as High School Musical goes, i was in middle and high school during their craze; I enjoyed them, and i think they'd be good to react to for you, even if its only the first one. It's not mandatory viewing, but i feel it changed how teen movies were changed because of how much of an audience it drew.
I never saw High School Musical either. I did see the Irn Bru advert that riffed on it 'though many years ago.

she betrayed Stan in the movie with Gregory, but Stan wanted Bebe at some point, ... then Wendy was attracted to Cartman even. There were a million occasions were they betrayed each other.

I don’t know if anyone else had this experience in middle school but this episode is 100% accurate. I remember going to school on a random Wednesday or something in 5th grade and everyone was singing and all the girls were yelling at each other that Zac Efron was theirs. It was the worst day of my life.
As someone who saw all three of the movies after losing a bet… no.
When the first HSM came out, I was a senior in high school and couldn’t figure out why my younger school mates were so obsessed with this. I tried watching the first one, but I just found myself cringing a lot. Basically, I was Cartman in this situation. Nowadays when I work with people and ask people why they’re into the series, the answer I usually hear is that they grew up with it and it was part of their childhood.

I'm not sure which scenario here is funnier: Dash having to watch at least the first High School Musical just to put in the reference sidebars... or Dash NOT needing to watch the first one, because he'd absorbed enough through pop culture osmosis (because I am also old enough to remember these being HUGE at the time).
