To me, this is one of the worst episodes of SP. It feels so bad and weird at the end of the episode.

This episode makes me so sad, i still, to this day, miss Chef on the show, he is one of the best characters ever made on this show, one of the originals too, the story behind this episode is so sad too 😥

He quit, so this is a hilarious way to send him off. I think he left after the Scientology episode.

I can only imagine how much censoring Dash is required to do before he uploads this.

The sound board. I remember watching this the night it released and hearing him speak. He was gone for weeks prior to this episode and I initially thought they had worked out a deal with Isaac. Then it became readably apparent it was a soundboard, and he was likely never coming back. It was sad, and even worse when he passed.

This was a saddest episode of South Park and nothing will ever be a same since Isaac Hayes quit and passed away RIP 1942-2008.

I remember when this episode aired. I was so happy like, "I'm so glad the south park guys and Isaac Hayes patched things up." As I continued to watch 😮 "oh lord no!" RIP

Fun trivia: Trey and Matt parted ways with Isaac Hayes after the scientology episode, and it was on good terms. Then some time later, a press release wrote that Isaac called Trey and Mat bigots for that episode. Trey and Matt thought that the church of scientology was behind the press release and not Isaac which was later confirmed by his son, so this was Trey and Matt's answer to that statement. When they said they don't blame chef but the "silly little club that scrambled his brains", they were referring to scientology. Chef's voice here is basically cut lines from older south park episodes because Isaac quit working for South Park before this episode aired, that's why they got the idea of having him brainwashed. I highly recommend two episodes for you to watch: Here comes the neighborhood: S5E12 - You will enjoy it, that's all I will say. Faith hilling: S16E3 - Fun episode full of references from various subjects and topics, also revolves around the boys and is just an extremely enjoyable episode.

My understanding of the story is: Isaac Hayes, who played Chef, was a part of The Church of Scientology, and left the show because they made fun of scientology, although it is suspected that The Church was strong arming him to leave. But he also died suddenly a few months after he left the show. So they did this episode as a sort of tribute to him and another dig at scientology for turning their friend against them, and they were limited in Chef's dialogue to all lines they had recorded of him for previous episodes. That's why his "up the butt..." line in this episode sounded so strangely spliced together: because it was.

Oh, Isaac Hayes. We miss you. Interestingly, I looked this up not long ago, because the story was always that he quit after SP skewered Scientology. But his son said that Isaac had recently had a stroke and wasn't in his right mind. He says somebody sent a letter on his behalf, some mystery Scientologist, and that Isaac always appreciated the satire, and never would've quit over that. I find that credible. The dude voiced Chef for so long, he knew what the show was about and he appreciated the humor, or he would've left long ago.

Seeing this on tv confused me but later on you realize why chef had the odd tone in his sayings. It was when they went a episode on the church of Scientology, he was part of it and took his leave. This seemed like their ”petty” episode of a friend, but they really cared for him. EDIT- just saw the part you mentioned it lol

One hell of a way to go out 😂 it's a shame things ended as badly as they did for Isaac Hayes (Chef) and the rest of the team. They thought Hayes was a hypocrite for being mad at scientology jokes when he didn't have an issue with other religions being parodied, but they didn't know that Scientology quit the show on Hayes behalf themselves. Once Isaac Hayes passed away one of his sons said that Isaac didn't leave the show himself, someone in the church of Scientology wrote a note using his name. Rest in peace Isaac Hayes, I miss Chef quite a bit.

With the insane amount of press that particular 'adventure group' has recently received over Linkin Park's new 'singer' and Danny Masterson, this was a great episode to cover.

Isaac Hayes had a seizure and was bedridden. Scientologgy took the opportunity to quit for him over the closet episode. Matt and Trey responded to Hayes’ apparent rejection in their usual fashion. You can tell they were super okay with it, and thought really hard about what was going on behind the scenes.
