Trey Parker said in the dvd commentary for this episode that he genuinely loves Cesar's show and it always makes him cry. This portrayal was definitely done from a place of respect. And it's great that Cesar loves it!!
It wasn’t just disappointment. It seemed like Cesar actually got a little choked up with sadness when he told us how the same thing often happens with his clients, that some people just don’t have the fortitude to keep doing what’s best for their dog. It must be painful for someone who dedicates their whole life to helping dogs, and then to watch clients flush all their hard work and progress down the drain and go right back to their old ways. And knowing the dog will suffer as a result and it’s out of Cesar’s hands.
I've watched that episode many times in the past and I've just realized that Cesar is the only celebrity that was not insulted in any way by Tray and Mat.Not even once. That means crazy respect.
I think the reason Trey and Matt didn't make fun of Ceaser is because they're genuine fans of both him and what he does. He's not smug and he genuinely uses his influence and wealth to help people. It was said in the DVD commentary of this episode that either Trey or Matt were HUGE fans of the show back in the day and they were like "how'd he fare against Cartman?" And BAM! Instant Episode!
He embraces the joke so much that he even talks about the episode as if it was actually him on the screen dealing with Cartman, like in the past tense as if it all really happened. This is a cool video!
Well given Matt & Trey did their research of Cesar quite spot on and adjusted it accordingly to work on a child such as Cartman And all in all Cesar is congratulating them on their impersonation of him All in all: through Transitive Properties Cesar Milan “did” train Cartman
Actually, I think the makers of South Park watched Cesar on tv, then had an epiphany about how they could make Cartman docile, for the time being anyway. It's really not making fun of Cesar and his techniques, it's just projecting those on Cartman that's so entertaining. :)
Makes perfect sense, considering Cartman is an imaginary character. However, we've all had a Cartman in our lives. Or maybe several. Perhaps even we are the Cartman in someone else's life.

@@r.thomas9648 The writers are not very... Conventional when regarding to celebrities. If Cesar ever wanted to come into the show. I can almost assure you that the last character he would play would be himself. If you ever saw the episode where Stan has a gay dog called Sparky. His barks where played by none other than George Clooney himself, and another celebrity rejected taking part in the show because he would not be playing himself on it.
Unfortunately, they can't ask celebrities to voice themselves, because then if they say no, due to the way parody is handled in copyright laws, they can no longer ask another VA to voice them while enjoying the copyright protections that parodies are entitled to.
Also if I’m remembering right the creators Matt and Trey when having guest stars on the show they prefer that the guest star isn’t voicing themselves necessarily. For example, Jerry Seinfeld was a guest star and he voiced a Turkey or a chicken I can’t remember which. Anywhozels, that was one of my fav. Episodes and love Ceasar reaction to the satirical show. 🥰
9:25 "That's what I do for dogs, and that's what I was doing for Cartman at this time..." I love how Cesar forgets that this isn't actually him. He treats a cartoon parody like it's an actual episode of his show that he kinda remembers filming
But it also shows the accuracy to the actual show and actual training of dogs in this episode. Honestly, I don't think Matt and Trey get enough credit for how much they will research a topic or show to make sure it's portrayed accurately, even though it's pure immature satire.
Cesar is so humble to acknowledge that South park made him even more famous. Humility is an indicator of honesty. Cesar is very good at what he does, which is why he can set his ego aside and make such a comment.
This is wonderful to see Cesar enjoy the episode so much, and to confirm how well done the episode is! South Park didn't utilize Cesar as a character in order to make fun of him, they utilized him as a character in order to make fun of Cartman's terrible behaviour. Hilarious episode.
I think it is more like it is very recognisable for him and he has to deal with it in a pleasant way - to keep his customer happy. But he must also remain distant. I guess this was his guilty pleasure; he'd wish he could react like that ;)
@@corbeau-_- hahaha indeed. I can imagine many clients do fall for him or at the very least be somewhat attracted to him with his prowess in his profession and his authoritative yet balanced and peace keeping nature. And I could see this being very hard to keep that distance when it's time to go at times.
I love the south park Cesar Millan's line "I am not being aggressive, I am being dominant." I had a feeling this South Park episode had at least some similarities to the Dog Whisperer. The whole "pack leader" thing made sense.
Everything around us is connected, the trees, animals , living and non living things. The mechanization and behavior we adapt today is coming from the nature. God created this beautiful world . Its just that we never truly appreciate what he given to us. We still have much to learn

@@musiclaboratory9694 The thing that blew me away when I originally watched this episode was that Matt and Trey actually seemed to admire and respect Cesar. I mean they didn't even have him bang Cartman's mom.
a hero? not a hero, he is the MAN Cesar in South Park was the only man who managed to dominate Cartman and did not receive his revenge, it was the best episode in all of South Park and I loved how that fat bastard was treated xD
This was one of the best episodes. It hit so many smart points and the guest focus, Cesar, wasn’t torn down or ridiculed (because he isn’t an obnoxious public personality). Especially the end, where Mrs. Cartman is “just a client.” Very smart writing.
Me too. It's kinda like one of those "real doctor reacts to medical scenes" videos, only it's the character _himself_ reacting/commenting/explaining things. So cool!
You’d be surprised how accurately South Park depicted real life people in Cartmen and his mom. It’s actually brilliant. If you’ve ever seen Cesar’s shows or live tours, you’d actually be blown away by how good of a job they made this episode:)
I think he's trying to explain how accurate they are and shows that even tho the show is fictional, it still happens with his real clients (and dogs) lol
Cartman's mom: I though we were friends. Cartoon Cesar: nah not really, you're just a client Real Cesar: Burst out laughting, prolly cause it's what happens in real life too 😄 best reaction ever 🤣
I think most celebrities are angry about it because they can't laugh at themselves. Nobody dares to make fun of them in their everyday life because they are something so big in the world so they don't really have friends around teaching them to take some joking about them. Anyone who has seen more life outside the hollywood way can take those jokes, but most of the big actors and show runners have been at it since they were 18 or they are afraid of their reputation going bad which they then make worse themselves.
Riku yeah that’s true but the Jonas Brothers did acknowledge about them being in the show. They understand at the time a lot of people did make fun of them for wearing purity rings
if I recall correctly, the NAACP also LOVED "With apologies to Jesse Jackson"...you know, the episode where they say the N word like 80 times? The American Tourette's league also loved that episode.
That's what I love about South Park, they don't just make pointless fun of things. They do so much research. Like The Magic The Gathering episode, they researched all the cards and the actual game rules and everything.
I dunno, they were pretty sympathetic towards Britney Spears, making her out to be a victim of the media who was doing every reasonable thing possible to cope with active persecution from the public. Even after the ridiculousness of losing the top half of her head, she still seemed like someone actively trying to fight back in a realistic and sympathetic way to something extreme and horrible.
17:22 CESAR IS ACTUALLY VISUALLY GENUINELY DISAPPOINTED THAT CARTMAN'S MOM RELAPSES AND GOES BACK TO GIVING CARTMAN WHATEVER HE WANTS. Cesar takes his work very seriously, even when it comes to South Park, lol!
I wish Kenny and Kyle saw Cartman throw up black sludge and see him transform and morph into rock and all that 😂 and transform to a pussy. I would LOVE to see them make fun of him!
On the DVD commentary for the episode the South Park boys talk about how much they love the Dog Whisperer. One mentions that he's ended up crying at some episodes when people's lives have been changed by Cesar. And it says a lot for their writing that they knew Cartman's mum was what allowed Cartman to misbehave. Seeing real life Cesar's genuine sadness at the end of the episode bit deep because, as he said, he's seen it happen. It's one of my favourite episodes because even not knowing of Cesar at the time, I recognised the teaching and the character work as solid.
Cartman's mother has a serious void in her life. She is using her son to fill that void, but it is unhealthy for her and her son. People do the same with pets, food, alcohol, the list goes on infinitely. The show creators not only nailed Cesar's training, they nailed the deeper issue that brokenness perpetuates brokenness.
Completely agree! I do wish they would do an episode more focused on her where she becomes more independent and stands up to him. They have sort of touched on that in recent episodes, mainly with her giving in to something that she knew would backfire on him (living in a hotdog), although that didn’t really benefit her. The closest she has come to that is in the Streaming Wars, where she refuses to get breast enhancement surgery and calls his bluff by letting him get it himself.
Jordan Peterson actually gave a pretty decent breakdown of this episode as an illustration of toxic motherhood dynamics, and how the moment there was a positive influence she's the one who breaks it because rather than taking on that leadership, she just tries to seduce the guy
I was expecting funny reactions, but ended up getting an informative lecture by Cesar Milan where he genuinely goes into detail about dog therapy. What a great guy!
That's true. There are many celebrities there that are mocked (Tom Cruise, Oprah, even OJ Simpson), but some of them are just people who just do what they do, like Cesar, or Elton John, or even Dr. Phil
I liked the epiphany at the end, where they make it very clear that Cartmans mother is heavily responsible for the way he is. Her loneliness makes her spoil her son, because that's all she has in life.
@Bill of Rights “I stopped watching South Park probably 7 or 8 years ago, bc I’m a crybaby who can’t handle my ideology being criticized.” Go pout somewhere else, fascist.

@@Djchicago1 He did, it's that his codependent mother enabled a total relapse right at the end of the episode.

@LTNetjak its called calling them months in advance to schedule a phone in voice script if they can actually physically make it to the studio
Also if I’m remembering right the creators Matt and Trey when having guest stars on the show they prefer that the guest star isn’t voicing themselves necessarily.
