Dear Rachel, this is a dangerous and heartbreaking world. Love between man and woman, true realistic and romantic love, helps lift our souls. You can't dis "true love" in such an offhand manner and not expect to be both rejected and ridiculed.
I'd even add that true love, no matter the pairing - it can be romantic, but it can also be the true love one can feel for a friend or a family member! - can be so incredibly uplifting and empowering that it makes you feel like you can take on the world as long as you have the other person by your side. Why would anyone even think that's somehow a wrong thing to strive for or to tell stories about?
