I also don’t like race washing either. The thing is, it just shows how these producers don’t wanna make an effort to create original characters who just so happen to have different skin. Instead, they just wanna take another character and make them another color. As an African American especially, that’s frustrating to see. It’s a crazy epidemic.
I love you for saying this! There are SO MANY African-American role models, or SO MANY potential new Black characters that would be infinitely more interesting than this. There are also rich oral traditions in both Black American and African cultures that could enrich us all. Instead, we have to fight trans-lesbians-of-color over the meaning of the word "White."
@@benjaminlassmann5387 I 100% agree with what you’re saying. I’m especially yearning for more African warrior movies like The Woman King and Black Panther. Hell, I’ve yet to see a movie on traditional Mesoamerican culture, but mainly just non-race washed characters. Also, no same old plot lines where an African American character is from the hood and dealing with racism and what not.

Absolutely, it’s just lazy.
I hope woke disney is sued out of existence & Trump can clean up the leftovers.
@@PeterTurner605 Let’s not get political, and unfortunately, there’d have to be a reason people would consider “ideal” to sue Disney.

0:29 The budget for this movie is really high... Sounds like the description of the people at Disney who green lit this nightmare.
Very true 😂
Look, if you want a Black mermaid, whatever. But at least you need to respect words. It's snow WHITE, not snow BROWN.
