  • In this documentary we take you inside the Cape Flats, which is South Africa's most dangerous area. We spoke to leaders of the American's gang which is one of the biggest gangs in Cape Town. We also met up with uncle Andie who has been working with some of South Africa’s most notorious gangs for years. Then we spent some time in a different part of the Cape Flats where we helped document a youth program run by ex-gangster Thando.

No disrespect but part of the reason places like this in Cape Town is filled with drugs is because of Nigerian crime lords. They living this good life here in Cape Town while they engage in illegal activity here. Pimping young girls and selling drugs to young men

I was born in Manenburg, Silverstream 1990. My Mother had 8 sisters living in a two bedroom flat with barely enough food on a daily basis but managed on her own to later buy a house, a car, own a company and send me and my brother to the best schools in Cape Town, I'm am so proud of my Mom for working so hard to give us a better life dispite her circumstances. She is my inspiration ❤ stay strong my Coloured brothers and sisters, we must be the change we want to see 🇿🇦❤🙏
Edit : Thank you all for the love and support, truthfully I haven't spoken to my mom for some time, we had a falling out recently and I've been trying to make things right ever since so Mom... if you see this I'm sorry for all my mistakes I've made as a son but I love you and appreciate you always ❤

The interviews with the three guys at the start are superb. The old guy is a bona fide psychopath - the only way you can last that long in his corner of the world. The middle-aged guy has one eye on the exit door and another on the street - he knows he can't last much longer. The young gun is so fraught with grief he can't sit still - he's got PTSD written all over his face.
It's heartbreaking to see these three men, separated by years but bound by the same fate, interviewed one after the other. The odds are even that at least one of them won't be around next year and I'd bet a lot of money that all will be gone by the end of the decade.

As someone who is born and raised in Mitchells Plain with family in Gugulethu, Khayelitsha and friends in Hanover Park, Manenburg etc I have to big up this channel for bringing awareness to my home. Ive been living in Johannesburg for the past 7years and I constantly take moments to appreciate not having to look over my shoulder every 5 seconds and not having to carry weapons everywhere I go in order to defend myself and my people. The locations this side (Soweto, Enedale, Thembisa, Alex, Diepsloot etc) also have their fair share of crime but it doesnt have such a profound effect on the kids and everyday life. Us Joburg people have to appreciate the peace in our city and stop complaining about everything, also can white people stop driving with so much aggression on the roads, too many lives are being lost because you lot are running late for brunch. I pray our black people stop being alcoholics and start investing in themselves and their communities. And I pray for peace in the Cape Flats. Ive lost very close people to me to street violence in the mother city and I pray noone has to go through that grief. South Africans lets start ;loving one another like we used to. Jesus Christ wants a personal relationship with you through the Holy Spirit, not religion and blind faith. You see, we all have sinned and deserve punishment but God saved us from the eternal punishment of our sins by sending His Son Jesus Christ, fullness of God bodily, a perfect, sinless sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sins by shedding His blood on the cross. He died and rose from the dead so that we may have everlasting life. It is all finished and now for you to accept the free gift of grace you must believe from your heart in Jesus Christ, that He paid the price for your sins, that He is risen and alive. Don't trust in your own goodness but transfer your trust to Jesus and follow Him, get to know Him personally. By faith you will receive the Holy Spirit, become born again, know Jesus personally and He will transform your heart and clean you from the inside out. Believe in Him, read the Bible and pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you and change you, obey the Word. Much love and God bless you!

This breaks my heart, the cycle continues with the little kids who witness this life. My dad grew up in Manenberg and Hanover Park, was in a gang and managed to change his life when he met my mom and moved to Mitchells Plain. He gave us a good life before his passing and I'm forever grateful. We have so many educated, beautiful, good-hearted people with amazing talents in our community but the gangsterism and drugs have overshadowed the beauty of our coloured people.

Also the young guy of 20 years old with no one to turn to, that is so sad and emotional. Having growing up in Manenberg it is tough, everyday its a hustle, everyday you don't know if you going to make it home when you walk outside that door, everyday its a struggle to borrow maybe 3 potatoes and chicken bones just so that you have the taste of chicken but no actual meat. Thank you for showing the world.... Brave to go into Manenberg!!!
