Coming from a Church of Christ. My niece and I are currently in RCIA and the only thing I've had reservations about was purgatory.. I remember some kind of agreement made before, possibly preliminary between Orthodox and Rome on purgatory and the Orthodox agreed to something about a purifying fire. With these versus from Revelation, 1 Cor 3:13-15, and others I think I'm finally beginning to see it! I'll have to look them up and do a write up for my niece and I, connecting the dots. I will also use it for defending the Church online once I've watched your other videos on purgatory.

Do some more study without bias. You will find Catholicism reasonable.
The major objections by protestants against Catholicism backfires on them.
When protestants object the teaching authority of the Pope and the Bishops, protestants leaders themselves can't teach with authority.
When they teach against tradition, they cannot used the 26 books of the Bible as scripture because there is no proof text that these books claim itself to be scripture. New testament Bible is a product of human tradition of the Catholic Church. Nowhere does the books says, they were written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is ONLY on the strength of the interpretation of the Catholic Church that we consider them to be scripture.
When Apostolic successors are not treated as priests then no Protestant can claim to be priest.
When protestants preach against the sacraments for receiving God's grace and God's blessings through such means, they can have no rituals like baptism or marriage rites or funeral rites or ordination of their pastors. (Even the office of Protestant pastors is not biblical. There is no scripture passage that support the establishment of Protestant churches or Protestant pastors)
When protestants denounce governing authority of the pope and the bishops, their Church associations too cannot have any governing authority. This means, no Protestant can excommunicate another one because there is no one who is qualified to pronounce the sentence.
Protestants emphatically preaches salvation by faith alone, and not of works. But they will never specify whether abstract ideas like faith, repentance forgiveness, loving God and loving men are a sort of work or not. Many of them find it difficult to define what is meant by this "faith" in salvation by faith alone. They won't specify clearly what are included in this faith and what are not. As the debate goes further, their position either come more and more closer to Catholic view or are clearly driven further away from the teachings of Christ, making themselves obvious heretics.
The best attack they could put up is the doctrine of purgatory and praying to Mary.
But then they won't give a one word answer to the question of when do final cleansing / sanctification of a saved believer takes place? Is it at born again event or at the moment of death or after death. If they say it is at born again event, they they are saying once sanctified, always sanctified. If they say it is after death then they somewhat agree with the concept of purgatory.
They questioned praying to Mary. But they can't prove it that praying to Mary is a sin because no Catholic considers her as a God. At best they could come up is that necromancy is condemned in the Bible. And yet, they won't tell whether Jesus committed necromancy or not when he talked with the spirit of Moses and Elijah during the transfiguration. They knew there is a difference between conjuring up with the evil spirits for divination and praying to the saints and Mary for intercession. But then, fair criticism is not their agenda. And so, anything that can be used to confuse and distort Catholic teachings are adopted.
Another favourite topic is condemning the images, statues of Jesus, Mary and the saints used by the Catholic Church. Yet, they won't apply the same yardstick when Israelites had the Ark of the Covenant Box with carved images of winged Cherubims. They won't say Moses broke God's commandment when he made the bronze serpents and hung it on a pole.
They also love to attack the heart of Catholic worship. That is, the Eucharist which the Catholic Church says is the flesh and blood of Christ. Yet, they don't realise that when they themselves used bread and wine as symbolic of Jesus' body and blood, they broke God's commandment that prohibited making images of ANYTHING either on earth or in heaven.
Protestantism teaches hypocrisy. Protestant arguments are not consistent and without contradictions. Protestantism is therefore, false.

The church has no power to erase your sins , indulgences are a man made lie. A believer is sanctified by God , washed in the blood of Jesus who died for all of our sins and we are justified through Christ . There is nothing we can do to merit God's approval . 1 Cor 6:11 Jesus not the church atones for all of our sins 1 Peter 2:24

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. That is so apparent here with the ignorant, stubborn comments. They hold fast to a made up doctrine created after the reformation, not paying any mind that Christianity, from the beginning, always believed in the state of purgatory (though it didn't have an official name at the beginning). So much Scripture and Tradition to prove it, but their hearts remain hardened to the Truth. Why? The thought of actually having to pay for their sins is hard and scary. Offering penance and sacrifice is too difficult. Protestantism is easy. No effort and poof, you go to Heaven. Literally the opposite of what Jesus taught!

      Hello 😊
I know I'm late for your comment, but I just want to clarify that Purgatory dates way back before the Reformation.
Just look at very well known 14th century book "The Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri, that was written before his death in 1321. The Reformation dates to the 16th century, so two centuries after.
And Dante didn't create the idea of Purgatory, it was preexisting. He just took from the Bible and Church Tradition.
I just wanted to clarify, because I've seen many protestants making the allegation that Purgatory was "created" after the reformation, and that is just wrong. I cited Dante because his work is really well known, but there are several other sources that trace its concept way back.
I hope this helps and bless you! 😊
      P. S.: English is not my first language, so I'm sorry if I couldn't express myself in the best way possible.

@@kevinwilt5496 Why does Jesus Himself refuse some Believers the chance to go to heaven? (Matthew 7: 21-23) and what will Christ do when they will say, if they believe as you do, that Christ covered all their past, present and future sins and yet they have neither repented or accounted for the temporal side of their sin? Remember, sin has two sides - supernatural and temporal.
      Supernatural
God is offended but this is why Christ died for our sins
      Temporal
Even though I am genuinely sorry for what I have done and have repented, a harm has been done which needs to be accounted for.
      For instance:
I knowingly and deliberately write a cheque to cover a debt but I know I have insufficient funds and am just buying time.
Later, I am genuinely sorry for having done this and the Bank forgives me and the recipient of my 'bounced' cheque also forgives me but I still need to address that debt and make reparations. I can't just walk away thinking "well, that's ok, Christ has got this covered". This is the temporal consequence of my sin and what purgatory is for - a process of purification, for a Believer who dies before having made reparations. After all, nothing unclean can enter heaven (Rev 21:27)

Unfortunately I sinned so often and still do although I try to avoid it. I hope the Lord will be merciful when my time will come to leave the earth and won’t judge me to hell. If I will be saved I will hopefully don’t stay for a long time in purgatory before entering heaven.

Purgatory seems to make sense to me from a perspective of justice. For example, a very holy man and a repentant murderer die on at the same moment. The very holy man who has done nothing but good his entire life should go straight to heaven, but why should the repentant murderer go straight to heaven just because he repented of his evil deeds. It seems just that he would have to spend some time in purgatory to make amends for the terrible crimes that he committed during his life.

The one who has repented 10 years ago and the other one repented today in God's sight, he considers them as His own children. Purgatory is a Man Made idea it's unbiblical, Hebrews 9:27-28
[27]Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
[28]so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
There's no any place for another purification for righteous people, I disagree, once we die we only waiting for our final judgement,
      2 Corinthians 5:10
[10]For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
If You or I myself die today what is to be ahead of us is resurrection then Judgement. Even the very righteous people will be judged, now what's that purification of so called purgatory involved??
      Romans 14:12
[12]So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. Righteous and unrighteous will all be judged...
Now What kind of purification is that for purgatory???? That's Man Made idea.

If they charged money to believers in regards to purgatory, how was it that they knew this information for certain? As even today, how could we truly know who is going to heaven and hell?

Well that certainly sounds good but you just do not have a parallel to purgatory in scripture.
Please show in scripture where anyone is cleaned up of their sins in the old testament after they die and before they reach paradise. ?
Ok so now show anywhere in the new testament that clearly shows a final clean up is required for the born again believer.to be admitted to heaven?
What I find is every person who promotes purgatory is thinking flesh and flesh/soul needs to be clean before heaven when as scripture tells us that flesh and blood does not inherit the kingdom of God. When you are born again it is not your flesh or your soul it is your spirit. God places that new spirit in the heavenly realm with Jesus Eph 2:6 ,and your spirit is protected by God so that not only is it sin free it is well away from any possible sin.
Our flesh is what sins and if you look at Romans 7: it tells you twice that it is no longer the believer that sins !!!!!!
So this concept that we need a final clean up is man made rubbish and has nothing to do with the finished work of Christ on the cross.
BTW when you start a video with a quote from the CCC and not scripture there is every indication that man made teaching will be involved.

The books that are missing from most Protestant Bibles (and are always included in Roman Catholic Bibles) were placed in between the OT and the NT. NONE of his translations removed ANY books. Sixty-six book bibles weren’t widely published until the 19th century, and it was mainly by the insistence of Presbyterians. Publishing companies complied due to growing anti-Catholic sentiments (and the Bibles would be shorter/cheaper to produce).

@@imisschristendom5293 It was certainly never HIS intent to have them removed, nor did he in any way disparage the books in question. An example from Luther’s Works, Vol. 35 pp. 345-347:
“What was said about the book of Judith may also be said about this book of Tobit. If the events really happened, then it is fine and holy history. But if they are all made up, then it is indeed a truly beautiful, wholesome, and useful fiction or drama by a gifted poet. . . Tobit shows how things may go badly with a pious peasant . . . there may be much suffering in married life, yet God always graciously helps and finally crowns the outcome with joy . . . Therefore this book is useful and good for us Christians to read. It is the work of a fine Hebrew author who deals not with trivial but important issues, and whose writing and concerns are extraordinarily Christian.”
I’m not speaking to his conclusions, but I can appreciate the clear approach of a scholar. If later persons (and cowardly, kowtowing publishers) decided to remove the books, it’s unfair to have Luther as the picture shown when placing blame.

In the New Testament, the kingdom of heaven refers to the gospel of Jesus Christ. His instructions throughout the Sermon on the Mount (Mt chap 5-7) pertain to matters in this life: persecution, murder, hatred, adultery, praying, almsgiving, worrying. Also, Jesus said in Mt 11:12 "the kingdom of heaven suffers violence and violent men take it by force." How can heaven suffer violence? Jesus is talking about His gospel. So, "you will be thrown into prison...you will not come out of there unless you have paid the last cent" (Mt 5:25,26) is talking about earthly matters, i.e., civil or in the church. This is not a proof text for purgatory.

I have always understood wealth as a stewardship of material things just as God gives authority to kings and the clergy he gives authority in material well being. God is clearly not against wealth as he promises several people this fate in the old testament. It seems that in the parable of the rich man he explaining that being rich is worthless if it is more important than God. The fact that the rich man was sad "because he had many possessions" I think confirms this view that Jesus knowing that the man's heart was not centered on God, ask him to remove what caused him to sin. Just he metaphorically state to cut off your hand that causes sin.

Any comments here that these verses are not about purgatory are the usual tiresome anti-Catholic protests. The non-Catholic/Protestant needs to understand that the Catholic MUST SUBMIT (something Protestants hate to do) to Catholic Church interpretation. The Protestant types can argue all they want, with very clever explanations, but theirs is of no importance. Concerning the Bible, for the Catholic, above all, only the Catholic Church has the right to interpret Scriptures.

@@redrum7812 No Redrum. If you are serious about this issue let me explain. Consider the criminal on the cross next to Jesus. He was convicted of a capital crime and sentenced to Roman crucifixion. He suffered next to Jesus. During that horrific time, he had the presence of mind to recognize Jesus' divinity and that He was the Son of God. He rebuked the other criminal that was mocking Jesus, saying "we are guilty and deserve death. This man (Jesus) is innocent". And then he asked Jesus to remember him in His kingdom. WHAT did Jesus say? "This day you will be with me in PARADISE" He did not say "This day you will suffer in purgatory for all your sins you committed/unconfessed sins as a criminal, then you will be with me in paradise". NO!! Of course not. Let's be honest. That guy had no church affiliation prior to his death sentence. No tithing. No practicing of the Sacraments. No Fish Sticker on his donkey. No massive lunch after church service and subsequent food coma, no baptism, etc., etc. NOTHING. Would he not be a perfect candidate for purgatory post-death on that cross? Of course, he would. He never confessed anything, EXCEPT, on his deathbed...that Jesus was the Son of God, dying for him, he was guilty, Jesus was innocent, and believed!! That was it. He acknowledged John 3:16 and didn't even know it! The result?... "This day you WILL be with Me in PARADISE". You can NOT dispute that fact. No purgatory. Straight to heaven. THAT scene was intentional by God Himself to show that NO WORKS by any man will ever get you into heaven. NONE. Nor any additional payments of suffering in another place called purgatory. Thank God for that mercy. He is truly magnificent. Accept His free offer of salvation today! And when you die, you WILL go straight to be with HIM, as the FATHER will accept you THROUGH His Son's RIGHTEOUSNESS! Not by anything a man has done (works), or not confessed, lest any man should boast. Praise His Holy Name!
It's simple .... Jesus said ... "It is finished." What Christ did on the cross, ONCE and for all, was to atone for mankind's sin in FULL. 100% paid in full. We DO NOT enter heaven by some additional works or purgatory payment prior to heaven, but enter through the righteousness of CHRIST. It is true that the Father cannot be in the presence of sin, therefore no one could ever enter heaven WITHOUT the covering righteousness of Jesus Christ. Meaning...we enter heaven SOLELY on Christs' righteousness. It also covers unconfessed sin. No additional suffering. His death covered ALL sins...past present, and future. Jesus will say to the Father..."This one is mine. He/She accepted what I did on the cross". Though sin is abhorrent to God the Father, He will see each saved person THROUGH that righteousness of Christ from His death on the Cross. His spilled blood. He was the FINAL sacrificed Lamb. Believe it.
Again...NOT by paying an additional payment through suffering in a place called Purgatory. Jesus is the most generous gift He has given mankind. We are hopeless without Christ's sacrifice on that cross. I admire the Catholic church for a number of reasons, but they are wrong on this. The BIBLE is the final authority, not any man in cloth or otherwise. We trust what God has spoken to us through His WORD... the Holy Scriptures. Priests, Pastors, Ministers, or whomever the Lord has anointed to preach/teach His Word, get THEIR instruction from where? The Holy Bible. The scriptures. As we do. It IS the final authority on all things God. Remember... our leaders are sinners like us. Yes, God calls these men to be leaders in the Body of Christ, but they are still sinners. His Word is our final authority.
Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. Who can know it?" God tells us this not to condemn us, but to show us our hopeless situation, and we NEED Him fully. We are born into Adamic-sourced sin the moment we enter the world. Nothing can change that. Christ is the only way to pass from this world into heaven...by HIS righteousness ONLY. Why would Christ need to die if we could pay for even one sin via our own additional suffering in a place called purgatory or anywhere else? That is crazy. An excuse really, or a license to sin, as we may think we can just pay for it later anyway as we will be in purgatory. I would never want to live thinking God could not save me once and for all via His plan of salvation...Jesus' death on the Cross. Period. And certainly, do not want to look forward to suffering in a semi-hell until my sin ransom is paid in full, primarily because I forgot some past sins that were unconfessed. WHAT!!?? NO way! I can't remember two days ago what I did, let alone sins I committed way back, just forgot, or didn't recognize as sin. Jesus already paid the price for all of that. God is ABLE folks! Think. Read the Word yourself and find out.
Does anyone think for a second, God cannot offer a plan of salvation and accept the sacrifice of His Son Jesus on the Cross once and for all, to whom will simply believe?... To John 3:16 themselves to heaven by a genuine acceptance of the full payment of our sins because of Jesus Christ's death on that cross? That would be utterly insulting to God and diminish what Jesus did on the Cross. It's absolutely ludicrous to think we need to ADD to what Jesus did on that cross. No man could ever add a thing to enhance their FREELY given gift of salvation. No one, lest any man should boast. Purgatory? To pay a little more for sins that have ALREADY been paid for by our Lord Jesus Christ? Again...sins of the PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE. All of them! And YES...unconfessed sins as well! Paid for. God is able! Come on folks...think about it. There is nothing in the bible to support additional payment for sins beyond Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Nothing. Only misinterpretation of scripture. Jesus paid it all once and for all. That is liberating beyond comprehension and a magnificently generous gift from God, lest any man should boast.
I know my Catholic friends and brothers in the Lord mean well. Many have been taught this dogma for a long time. It is understandable that it is hard to let go. But free yourself from that bondage. It is bondage. It presents too many questions and doubts about your true position in Christ. God would never do that. He does not NEED to do that. Jesus......PERIOD! THAT is the final answer to salvation. Heaven or Hell. You must choose. Nothing in between. Nothing. Again...on the day you die....and you belong to Him, you will be cloaked in the righteousness of Jesus by what He did on the cross, and your genuine acceptance of it. Now acceptable to the Father. Period. TOTALLY undeserved, but because of Christ, we can come boldly before the throne of grace. Confess your sins to God. Of course. If you must, confess to your Priest, but confess nonetheless. Read His Word every day to renew your mind and strengthen your spirit for the battle we endure on earth. Putting on that armor of God for battle. We battle Lucifer and his minions, the world, and our Flesh, which wars against our spirit. No way we can fight all that without God's help. You will never be able to resist the devil if you do not stay grounded in His Word and prayer. Impossible. It's why Christians suffer. Fall. Stumble. Sin. Etc., for lack of strength by ignoring God's Word. Avoiding prayer.
You still belong to Him regardless, and He will chase you down as His son or daughter if you go astray. A TRUE son or daughter of God, that strays, is the most miserable person on earth. That's right. When you belong to God as His child, ignoring Him will make your spirit restless. Miserable really. Because He disciplines those who are His. Like the one sheep that went astray. Jesus asked...will the Shepard just let that one sheep go? Be a prey to the wolves? As the other 99 sheep are safe in their pen? NO!! The Shepard will hunt that sheep down until he finds it. THAT is what God does with those who are His. To whom the Father gives Me, Jesus said...NO ONE will snatch them out of My hands. NO ONE! Yes, you will suffer loss in heaven for willful straying, but still, be with Him for eternity. The Apostle Paul made that clear. Again...renew your minds every day by reading His Word. Do NOT depend on your Priest or Pastor to be the sole provider of scripture and/or instruction in your life. You are not in church every day hearing the Word. Even if you were, you must still spend time with the Lord via His Word. It's about RELATIONSHIP. Corporate worship and fellowship at your local parish or church are fine. A must really, as the Body of Christ, but individual time with God daily is where your strength will build. Pray without ceasing Paul said...meaning anytime you can and have the time free to do so. Put that armor of God on to face each day's troubles, deflect the arrows of the enemy, and have protection under God's wing.
I have many Catholic friends and I know there are many saved and God-fearing Catholics around the world. But know that the doctrine of Purgatory ultimately puts human merit in the place of divine grace as the principle of our justification, stealing glory from Christ and giving it instead to the church and its priests. Remember that no man will enter heaven on the coattails of church affiliation, grandmothers' prayers, belonging to an organization, etc. Each man will give an account and Jesus will look at your HEART. Nowhere else. We stand alone before the Lord at our death. Please consider what I wrote here. I do it in love, not for the gratuitous sake of argument. For yourself, read His instructions to us. His love letters to us. The Bible. Pointing to His ultimate expression of love... JESUS CHRIST. Bless His Holy Name.

@@Semper_fi_777 Sir you don’t understand what Catholics believe. I appreciate that you love us enough and care for our souls enough to guide us to truth. I say amen to almost everything you wrote, concerning St Dismas Catholics belief in certain circumstances that you can go directly to heaven by having sincere and true remorse for sins and true faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe the Saints and those who die for our lord and savior, such as those murdered in the days of the early church go directly to heaven. Catholics never confess to men, we believe we confess directly to Jesus through and with our priest. Also Catholics can directly pray to Jesus for forgiveness of our sins. Real Catholics know that ever man is a sinner including the pope and most like myself don’t agree with his liberalism. But just because of Judas iscariot the apostles didn’t leave Jesus, the apostle Peter denied Jesus three times. Catholics love the Bible and we read it directly to our children and wives. But we also believe that the apostles corrected Wrong and mislead interpretation of Sacred Scripture . We believe we have the correct interpretation by examining the early church fathers and how they understood it, passed on from the apostles especially polycarp who was alive at the same time as John who wrote the book of Revelation. this interpretation has been passed on for 2000 years. If scripture is so easy to understand then why don’t we all come to the same conclusion why is that there is over 40,000 different Protestant denominations? Jesus says he formed one church not 40,000 and also why do we have this passage from scripture: Acts 8: 26 - 31 …Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”
So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. Also the scriptures say this about private interpretation 2Peter 1:20-21. knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Brother I can go on I suggest you study and not just Catholic bias sources also consider this why did Martin Luther remove several books from the Bible? Was he more moved by the Holy Spirit that 100s of Christian’s at the councils? Or did he just disagree with it because it went against his doctrines? If you read it 2 Maccabee’s you will discovery that prayers for the dead are considered Honorable and good and if you study scripture all of it including the 7 books Protestants call the apocryphal you will see that purgatory is biblical and I’ll tell you this no Catholic thinks it’s a easy way out and a free ride maybe ignorant ones but real ones do not wanna go to purgatory we desire to be Saints and go directly to heaven through Baptism,Faith and Works. We may possibly be made worthy enough consider this scripture for purgatory what is death and hades. Is death possibly purgatory? Revelation 20 :12-14 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Brother I can go on and on with scripture to prove points. Also we read scripture at every mass we do t listen to sermons we here direct and whole chapters in the Bible every Sunday. Please study unbiased Catholic resources I tell you this because I too was once a fundamentalist Protestant then a non denominal, then a baptist ect. I church hopped and could never agree with any church. They are all different, then I was witnessed to by a very knowledgeable Catholic and I was scared for the guy. I said to myself man I need to help these ppl they worship Mary , they pray to the dead, they listen to the pope and all that. The truth was I didn’t understand it I studied to prove them wrong and I could not. I came to the conclusion that the Catholic Church is the true church don’t believe me actually study with open eyes and do your research. I pray that Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will guide you and be with you and that the Holy Spirit comforts you. And that the Lord blesses your family. In Jesus Christ name I pray Amen in the name of The Father, Son, and The Holy Spirit Amen. Look up Steve Ray, Patrick Madrid, Trent Horn , Taylor Marshal, and Catholic answers for all your questions study both sides by the way I’m conservative Traditional Catholic and we are disgusted by some of the things these bishops and the pope is doing, we must pray for them. I love all of our Protestant Brothers and sisters and pray for them all unlike most Protestants we believe Protestants can go to heaven they just don’t have the fullness of the faith like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the Peanut-butter unlike them they Believe Catholics are idol worshipping pagans who will burn in hell God Bless you on your journey Semper Fi

@@Semper_fi_777 Peace be with you.. We are saved by Grace through faith... not "Faith alone" You can say the thief had "faith alone" as he was being crucified. That is also correct, but know one thing its by God's grace and also Jesus saw his heart, and I agree several exceptions are in the bible, Eg Man should die once verse, but Lazarus, and others that came back from death are exceptions. Nothing wrong with that as this was for the glory of God. Several other bible verses from NT verses from Paul, and James mentioned not "faith alone" as the reformation thought, it is unbiblical and unfortunately misleading lots of people.
Same with Mary, she was sinless, the greek bible manuscript referred to Mary as Theotokos "Mother of God" God is sinless, hence Mary is sinless and earthly mother of Jesus, and granted Full Grace as she was obedient. The angel greeting alone "hail Mary full of grace"... and also "generations should call her Blessed" there is no other passage in the Bible that some for generations should be called "Blessed"..
The Protestant bible, changed that and unfortunately don't accept immaculate conception. As Christians we should accept the mysteries, remember there are things God knows and not revealed to man, man cannot comprehend, but we have enough bible verses to back the catholic church teachings.

      I deal with
" the thief on the cross"
In the video, beginning at time marker 5:47 in case you missed it.
You say you're Catholic. But you dont really sound Catholic with
" over interpretation of the bible"
Scripture alone is a heresy. Christ established the church he didnt write the book. The church gave us the book.
The bible must be interpreted in light of tradition and the Magisterium. My interpretation in the video is
Christ did not promise the good thief he would be in heaven, he said he would be in paradise. Which means limbo. Why? Because nobody went to heaven until christ rose from the dead. Which was 3 days later, not that day. Before then those destined for heaven went to the paradise of the fathers, which is right next to purgatory, as some had to go through first. This is according to thomas Aquinas.
Would you accuse him of over interpreting the bible?
using the good thief as an objection to purgarory falls apart if you, idk, read the whole bible
      "We will never know"
I assume you mean we will never know if Purgatory is True?
We know its true because the Catholic Church says it is.
The holy spirit guides the Catholic Church on the truths of doctrine. Not us individually.
That's why Scripture alone is, quite Frankly, a damnable doctrine.
Proof of this is the fact that Protestantism, which is based on Scripture alone, has broken into a thousand pieces. They cant agree on what scripture says. Thats the spirit of confusion, not the holy ghost.

M problem with many Catholic doctrines is that Biblical support is largely missing, so said doctrines are built on a scaffolding of verses taken out of context or by wildly extrapolating from various verses. Don't get me wrong, it is nice that you are at least attempting to have a scriptural justification for Purgatory. I just find that the weight of scripture is against such a concept. As another poster indicated, Purgatory mocks the complete efficacy of the blood of Jesus Christ.

My favorite purgatory reference in scripture is probably the most hidden and at the same time most profound. Matt 21: 30. Jesus tells the Chief Priests that Harlots and Publicans will enter the Kingdom of God BEFORE them. Did he mean they would die first? No. He was referring to Purgatory showing that their sin of pride will be a longer sentence than Prostitutes or corrupt tax collectors. Both will be saved but the harlot will get out of Purgatory before the Chief Priest

Although we are all imperfect in this life, in death Christians are cleansed in the blood of the lamb. We all enter Heaven in a purified state since Jesus already paid the price, the FULL price, for our sins. I don't want to be in Heaven and explaining to Jesus that His sacrifice was insufficient to get me into a state of grace with the Lord; and that His suffering was important, somehow, but it's really MY suffering that's going to seal the deal. Our God is an AWESOME God, He is fully able to COMPLETELY forgive our sins without a period of celestial torture being necessary. These twenty-two versus are completely unconvincing as proof of purgatory; for instance, Jesus' admonition that we should reconcile with our enemies in this life is what a Christian should do, but it's an incredible stretch to think this is somehow an argument in favor of purifying fire in the afterlife. There are no statements which state "In the afterlife, you must suffer in fire to remove the final shreds of sin" or anything like it, it's all strained interpretations of verses with much more likely interpretations.

actually the roman catholic church is in deep error about purgatory. purgatory is not supported clearly anywhere in the new testament. the book of macabees 2 was rightly rejected by luther as apocrypha because there were no prophets in this era (prophets were the authors of the old testament). the roman catholic doctrine of purgatory was not even established until the 12th century. the roman catholic church's doctrine of purgatory rejects Christ's death on the cross as sufficient for salvation, my biggest problem with the roman catholic church.
