@Scott Seufert Your leaving out a huge catalyst to the fall according to scripture. If it weren't for the serpent possessed by Satan, humanity would have not fallen into sin. If Adam had not given into the cunning words of Eve, his righteousness would have atoned for the sin of Eve, however that's not how it played out and you are correct that God still had a plan to redeem man through the Son of Man and proper baptism of the faithful to receive His sanctifying grace offerred through His Church.

One gift that I had discovered is that praying a Hail Mary during such episodes brings calm in thought and quiet resolution. @@kabinifrp May I respectfully disagree? There must be a Purgatory or, there are plenty of folks who believe in such. I have been attempting to gather as much spiritual information as possible and I've found prayers that would suggest there are many in Purgatory; those who have not purified themselves for Heaven (what exactly that means I have yet to comprehend). There are, reportedly, priests in Purgatory. There are prayers asking Jesus to forgive those in Purgatory. As Father Mike stated, you must have a belief in God, must participate in his Holy Sacraments and MUST do "His Will". This may boil down to whether one chooses to believe (or not believe) that Purgatory is real, but I'll take the position that it is, based on what I've heard and read from others' accounts.

I’m a cradle Catholic and recently have been exploring my faith more deeply. This began with the Bible in a year, and has expanded into TMIY, and deeper personal exploration (e.g., adoration) The deeper I go, the more distinctly I feel a spiritual presence in my life. I often feel a real presence of evil around me, and when I’m at mass I feel the presence of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, I’m actually starting to feel this. This video makes me wonder if my “life” as I’m currently experiencing it is in reality purgatory and the discomfort is just the difficulties of “life”drawing me closer to God.

The person who died went through purgatory on Earth it seemed but then when they died and i felt broken, all the happiness of the angels were near their body. We could feel Gods grace took him to heaven. Now God wants me to love him above any person. In my darkest moments, when illness and pain consumed me, I offered myself to Him as His servant, and He pulled me back from the brink of death. I’ve learned that keeping my promises to God and repenting daily not only heals my soul but keeps me physically alive and well. His Spirit brings vitality where medicine and logic couldn’t explain. When I was at my lowest-sitting in a chair all day, drained of life, with no color in my cheeks-I turned to His Word and soaked in worship day and night. That journey eventually led me to baptism, and I can testify that His Word truly healed my body and spirit. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and His love changes everything.”❤

Years after the first time I had convinced myself it was some drug they gave me, or an effect of the drunk driver. Right before the 2nd time I had lost my faith. 14 years of being beat, cut, and cheated on by my ex wife had worn me down to the point where I believed my God had turned away from me. I never felt so dead before, completely empty. I don't think 24 hours had passed before my ex wife showed up, took my arm, and I was on an ER surgery table. I woke up in the darkness again. I was completely peaceful, even joyful. I understood very well what had just happened. I knew I wasn't alive. That place is beautiful!!!! Too quickly I was asleep again. I woke up a day later in the Hospital Trauma Recovery Wing. I woke up to one arm, CRPS, and my life had completely changed. I was no longer beaten on every day, and no more constant screaming. I'm ashamed to say I looked everywhere for something to explain the place I had been except my Bible. I've been such a fool!!!! Thank you, I apologize for the weird post. I clicked this video with a curiosity about the Catholic teachings of purgatory. Thank you for this sharing! While I disagree, it is great to have this chance to hear a different perspective. While I am glad to see that there is a common agreement between Catholics and Protestants about the all-sufficient death and resurrection of Jesus Christ being the basis of salvation, I am surprised to hear the divergence here where purgatory is believed as potential stage "used to make me into the kind of person that can step into God's presence." Instead, I find myself holding unto the preaching of "salvation by grace alone" all the more stronger. Jesus' all-sufficient is imputed on me and I thank the Son of God for being the sole basis for enabling to stand in front of the Holy one of Israel. 🤓

I say this respectfully because I love my Protestant brothers and sisters. While you bring up a fine point, and there are infinitely different fine points from Protestants and individuals, to me, this is why it always comes down to authority. Who has the authority to say what is correct? For me, it will always be the Catholic Church which stems all the way back to Jesus Christ from Peter being the first Pope.

You said so many good things, it's hard to know where to start. I am a protestant Christian, but have seen within myself and others that we have ongoing sins we still struggle with, and many of us sin (in part) because we have deep hurts that never healed. Some find healing and freedom from sins in this life; but it seems most do not fully reach sanctification. None can enter the dwelling place of Holy God while we are still dirty with sin and it would be unloving to not heal all our wounds; thus it makes sense that we need "purging" to fully clean and heal us. I have seen how God has used events in my own life to free me from idols, to help me recognize vices, to help me grow in virtue, and most of all to help me grow closer to Him. As the Bible says in Romans 8:28, "...in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.." It is true: He does.

“My God, I offer you all my works, my amusemente, my sorrows and my joys; the good and bad moments of this present day for Your greater glory and honour”
I love it, i loved starting out the days prAying (it was usually followed by praying every prayer we knew) and would like to pass it on to my kids. It reminds you at the beginning of your day that you’re not alone and you have a lot to live for :) offer up your day every day, and you let yourself (and remind yourself) to leave everything in His hands; God will know what to do with our days better than we can even imagine!

As a protestant, who is finding quite a number of ways in which to be reconciled and reconnected with the mother church (and who admires and loves Fr. Mike), there are still matters that are troubling. And I have to say, what a sad, sad doctrine this is. It’s not even possible that this is true. Or it means the gospel is to no effect. If it were even merely the matter of “saved though as through fire“ there would be a way to reconcile. But to need more than what Jesus did on the cross… 😔

I am not, nor ever have been a Catholic, but believe that I had a vision, dream, or remembrance of myself sitting in a heather gray void. I came to believe that this was a level of purgatory. I was seated on a bench like you find in a locker room. So I was comfortable being seated but could see nothing around me but the gray void. Then I lifted up my head and started calling and shouting "JESUS SAVE ME." "LORD JESUS SAVE ME." Then I popped out of the grey void. AND was not there anymore. But here. I have come to believe that there are different levels of purgatory. Some possibly darker than others. Depending on faith & obedience to God. Like a child being sent to the corner to think about your behaviors.

now imagine instead of people, all of the beings you see are souls , and the performer is god. i wish i can do something for the souls that dont make it. i really wish i could. i feel so bad for those that are not gonna make it. i have never been there and i already know how beautiful it is. that such a being as god can exist, pure love and compassion. its unreal.

A while ago I was talking with a friend about Purgatory and he said something that made me stop and think. He said, with all the crime in this world, crooked leaders removing God from our lives, chaos and sins against God trying to make us believe it's the norm and the suffering throughout.......What if this is Purgatory?

Based on my studies this IS Purgatory aka Sheol in it's Hebrew text. It's like a game of life school with a huge playground that looks like paradise in some places! A lot of us most ancient ones are divinely about to graduate soon ! 💚🙏✨

No I don't see it, suffering in our world is not our fault. Disease for example is not consequential, we just get a disease because we unknowingly caught it. Anything consequential is not caused by god it's caused by people who make you suffer for your actions. God doesn't punish us on earth.

You know what's a "dangerous" prayer? "God, let me serve my Purgatory in this life." That's a prayer that he answers fully and joyfully. But how difficult it is to keep repeating it as he answers that prayer.

There is NO purgatory ,period ,full stop! Our works ,holy intent that they may be is still grounded in Sin, but Jesus the sinless man (Being God himself- Incarnate) is the PERFECT offering, no adding sacrifices and additional idolatrous rosary prayers will avail you much. You are dismissing the PERFECT sacrifice , The Lamb of God who takes away the SINS of the world ,not some ALL (who trust in Him) So that we may not boast of our attempt to steal away the Glory of our thrice Holy God ( Father Son and Holy Spirit )This man (priest) is NOT Born-Again as Christ instructed us to become YET you Catholics persist in calling Him Father. I came to the TRUTH 22 years ago and Jesus called me out of the Catholic faith which is NOT grounded in the Truth of Scriptures - The Holy Bible Sola Scriptura and NOT man's tradition ,God Bless you for reading but if you are still STUCK in Roman Catholicism- Come Out ! In Jesus wonderful name. HE has paid it ALL in FULL - FINISHED He cried at the Cross the real question is Do You Believe HIM ?

That's a cutting edge spiritual concept.Another idea is that through praying for the souls in purgatory,it will lessen if not completely eliminate any time we would normally have to spend there.

One thing about the church and purgatory (which I believe in) is why do they emphasize that are sins are forgiven and Jesus "forgets" them. Mother Angelica told the story of Jesus telling a saint the sin was like a droplet in the ocean and another saint said he told her to tell someone testing her, who asked what his last confession was, "he forgot". I understand the teaching but then why are the remembered later or at the end of time? I will ask my priest when he's not busy but it always seemed contrary in a way. I get why we need "cleaning" for sure, but the forgotten part, not as much.

How wonderful it is to lift everything up to our Lord God, that it's okay to lift up to Him all our sufferings, trials, exhaustion at work, things that made us feel and think bad at this moment, knowing that only He can change our heart to a heart that can love Him the way we are supposed to love. Only He can purify it and let it be at peace. Thank you so much for this teaching and realization, Fr. Mike! God bless you and your videos! 🤗🙏

Here a song I like for this video.
    Purify my heart
    Let me be as gold
    And precious silver
    Purify my heart
    Let me be as gold
    Pure gold
    Refiner's fire
    My heart's one desire
    Is to be holy
    Set apart for you Lord
    I choose to be holy
Set apart for you my master
    Ready to do your will
    Purify my heart
    Cleanse me from within
    And make me holy
    Purify my heart
    Cleanse me from my sin
    Deep within
    Refiner's fire
    My heart's one desire
    Is to be holy
    Set apart for you Lord
    I choose to be holy
Set apart for you my master
    Ready to do your will
    Refiner's fire
    My heart's one desire
    Is to be holy
    Set apart for you Lord
    I choose to be holy
Set apart for you my master
    Ready to do your will
And I am ready to do your will
Make me ready to do your will
