It's important to remember that we all fall short of being 'worthy of heaven' and that Jesus' mercy is the only reason we can get there. No matter how 'good' we live our life, without Jesus we can not get there. So it's a bit much to begrudge anyone Jesus' mercy when we also need it so desperately.
Jesus does put terms & conditions on his mercy, you know things like "feed my sheep" and "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."
@@mrsducky3428 Uh, NO! According to the Bible, God's Word, there is only one term and condition to enter Heaven, and that is to become Born-Again by repenting of your sins and receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior. It is by His grace through His faith a person is saved and not by anything they could ever do. Once that is done Jesus promises to never leave or forsake them - no matter what.
I'm one of your "errant brethren" but I still love Bishop Barron. I'm encouraged to see you read from a Protestant prayer. As someone who consults for both Catholic and Protestant schools, I have come to the conclusion that God has a "remnant" of true followers in most denominations. I have enjoyed learning a lot from my Catholic brothers and sisters. And unlike some of my Protestant friends, I will NOT be surprised to see many of them in God's Kingdom. My prayer is that as the world gets darker, the differences between us will be overshadowed by our need for unity. May God bless and keep you all.
There is only one Truth. Therefore logic proves that there can only be one true Church not many denominations all speaking about Jesus with different beliefs on how to gain ones salvation. One Truth the rest are lies misleading people. Your logic is faulty
I am so grateful that our God is a God of Love….otherwise there would be no Jesus, no Love that was prepared to die to save us ALL, myself included. I want to be saved but I pray that we are ALL saved without the loss of anyone…because that is what God Himself wants….❤
When a person has a purified heart they will rejoice with the angels whenever a sinner comes to repentance regardless whether it is at the first hour or the last.
Nobody deserves Heaven, we have all sinned and even the smallest sin separates us from God. In the parable Jesus explains that the land owner tells the disgruntled ones that who are they to tell him what he does with is money, they got paid what they agreed to do. In other words who are we to question God and His mercy? In the end everyone in Heaven is purified and all from the smallest to the greatest will regret all of their sins. Those who have sinned the worst will appreciate God's mercy more than those who have sinned less. That is why when you are seated at the banquet table for the feast take the lowest place first and if the master moves you to a higher seat than the Lord does recognize your hard work.
@@EvieWest-ut4kt Yeah, I guess we need to ignore Jesus' commands to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, and visit the imprisoned. Or the Bible saying the doers of the law will be justified, not the hearers. It is about walking obediently with Christ, not a ticket you punch one time and done. The Bible uses faith alone one time, and says we are NOT saved by faith alone.
Those in heaven are perfected in love. I believe in the communion of saints. The saints in heaven because they are perfected in love; will the good for us here on earth. They are willing and happy to help us. We are all part of the Body of Christ. When we ask the saints to pray for us to help us here on earth it is like a hand offered in friendship. It is a recognition of their great worth and of fellowship. It is so very beautiful.
That was really good. I've been drawn to the way this man talks about these things for a while now. This is, I think, so far -- the most revealing sermon I've seen by him. This parable has bugged me all my life as well. Although maybe not as badly as some others, as I was never taught, in fact I was taught that Heaven is NOT a "prize" we "win" - but ... the parable still caused some resistance, and I like the way he frames this.
Thank you for this education so I can understand better. I am 100% agree with Bishop Barron preaching and vision of this parable. In the same parable, Jesus also said to those who complained. Haven't I reward you with what we agree upon, for your portion of the work? Jesus has not reward those belief in him early any less, just as much as others. Like Bishop Baron, we got the job early, we're also receive the grace early. More importantly, Who are we to judge Jesus for being more generous that he is. Amen.
Amazing discussion. So 'simple'... except we're not. ;-) One point, though - Love is not 'just' to will the good of the other. There's a follow up detail per Aquinas, that 'To love is to will the good of the other FOR THE SAKE OF THE OTHER'..... and by extension, not for the sake of ourselves. How often do we use people - wish them well because it will do us well in some matter. We use people in this way. You see it in relationships all the time.
Jesus Christ said to his Apostles. Jonh 6 53:54 Verly verly I say unto you except you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink His blood ye have no life in you 54.whose eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day. Jesus Christ established a church whithin His church a new covenant with His blood for the remission of sin. He also ordained with His Apostles baptism and the sacrament of confession and the Eucharist . He never said ignore what I ordained with you as long as you are born again in the spirit you are saved. That is a diabolical deception.
From your comments section this parable escapes most of us sinners. That's why "A daily shot of God' ain't gonna cut it. We live ourselves into the Kingdom of God by being washed in the blood of Christ and aligning our will with His. Read John 6. The whole chapter.
From what he said, it made me think more of when we get purged after death called purgatory. It sounds to me like when you love perfectly you are in heaven, and perfectly isn’t everybody so when other people die, there must be a place where they get a chance to fulfill the rest of the love that they haven’t done on earth. . It just makes total sense to me. But it goes to show that it’s very hard to be purely in love like Jesus loves. And that’s what we have to attain because I’m then reunited with Him right? Thus we are united in love with LOVE HIMSELF… And that is Heaven! 😇🪽🕊️🔥🌟🌃✝️
@@cq8822According to St Catherine of Genoa, a soul which goes to Purgatory does so willingly, because they have the knowledge that even the slightest part of any previous sin must be purged. They actually rejoice in this, and despite the pain of this purging, would not even want Heaven at that point. They do not want to be in the Presence of God while there are still any impediments or defects upon them. Indeed, even if God allowed them straight into Heaven without being purged, the soul would still insist on Purgatory .
Yes, yes and yes! Love what this guy has to say. It resonates as truth and sincerity. As I understand it, justice and mercy are equals. You cannot have one without the other, and that mercy to the unjust is injustice to the victims. But it is food for thought for me. Maybe I don't have it quite right.
@@EricNault-qg7ni I mean you can't expect too much from RUclips comments 😂 I think my reply went a little more into depth saying how the Mob-Hitman sure could be in heaven, but it has nothing to do with confessing to a priest. Only his relationship with Jesus Christ. And agreed with the parts I did agree with. Like how the kingdom of heaven does begin on earth. I often say not-sinning isn't just to get into heaven when you die, but choosing not to live in sin also brings the Kingdom of Heaven down to earth for you and those around you. But if that man's statement of Christ being The Only Way was ila good enough response to the Priest saying the Hitman was saved through confessing to a Priest, what would you have added? I love growing my intellect
@@loganschockeltthe Catholic Church is simply doing what Lord Jesus commanded on the evening of His Resurrection. He gave the apostles (the first bishops) authority to forgive sins in His name. The priest is InPersona Christi. Therefore, when the dying man confessed to a priest, he wasn’t confessing to a man, but to Our Lord Jesus Himself.
Excellent explanation of what is typically at face value a passage hard to humanly understand. That is precisely what God is; His love is irrational. Great work. Had not heard it described this way Bishop Barron.
Respectfully, the bishop is not saying the Truth in its entirety. A confession doesn’t work that way - the important point he missed is this - the confession must be sincere and with a contrite heart. Also, I’m stunned that is a difficult parable. I find it comforting. As a Catholic I absolutely want those end of life conversions to go to Heaven. A lost soul is unbearably sad.
You’re working on the presumption that the confessions wasn’t sincere, or given with a contrite heart. Having not been there, I can’t say that he was or wasn’t sincere but I would fervently hope he was. Certainly the priest attending him felt that it was a good confession.
Roman’s 8:34. Who is the one condemning? For it is Christ Jesus, the one having died, now rather having been raised up, who is also at the right hand of God, and who is interceding for us.
"Hi Father, I'm thankful for God's unconditional love and Jesus' sacrifice for us. I'm also grateful for God's boundless grace and mercy, allowing others to enter heaven at the last minute, simply by seeking forgiveness. This truth is beyond beautiful! Much love and light through Jesus Christ, Richie Spasoff"
I do not begrudge any person the opportunity to enter the kingdom of God. It doesn't matter to me how good I've been and how bad someone else has been. I desire that all get to a point in their lives that they repent of their sins and declare Christ the Messiah the saviour of all who accept him.
at 4:51 the man who confesses his sin to a priest just before he dies...but did he repent and Believe in Gods only Son as the only hope of salvation? . Barron suggested he may have to go to purgatory first. ok, where is that in the Douay or any other bible ? . It is not there or even implied (that is a dangerous heresy) To say that it doesnt seem fair or just for that man to get into heaven, but isnt it what happened to the 2nd criminal hanging next to Jesus, Well, almost. I dont know what the "hit man" said in the confession. , but I do know what the 2nd criminal said that revealed his repentance, owned his sin, openly declaring Jesus to be LORD and essentially asked Jesus for Mercy. The 2nd criminal as much as admitted he had no goodness, and no "works"' to contribute to being worthy . rather, he said to the other "we deserve to be here for what we have done, we have not "believed" in what the Savior taught or that He is God incarnate. The entire time Jesus went about, He constantly alluded to who He is. for that the Jews wanted to stone Him......for declaring and the Father were One , meaning He was God, the Son who was to come. (John 10: 27-33) The key word to grasp is the word "BELIEVE' Jesus used it often. Except you BELIEVE that "I AM ", YOU WILL DIE IN YOUR SIN (THE SIN OF UNBELIEF. ) JESUS replied to mary and martha at the tomb of Lazarus after they quizzed him about Lazarus being raised in the Resurrection , that is when Jesus declared "I am the resurrection and the Life......do you believe this ? " BELIEVE the key word everywhere concerning salvation . Beginning in John 3:16, Romans 10: 4, 9-10, Ephesians 2: 8-9 "faith = belief) Sadly, a life of kindness, good works will not be acceptable. It is why Jesus will say to those who claim "works" (see Matthew 7 : 21-23) where Jesus says to them : "I never knew you.....depart from me" Dont be fooled by good works or good deeds. We are all sinners. We must repent, just like at John the Baptist at the river doing the baptism of repentance It is Christ on the Cross, shedding His blood, for the remission of sins. Ephesians 2:8-9 declares It is by Gods Grace alone to the repentant sinner that is the way to be accepted into the Kingdom . Not works, not beads, nothing but the Blood of Jesus to cover your sin

Amen 🙏
Amen.
Jesus does put terms & conditions on his mercy, you know things like "feed my sheep" and "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."
Excellent description 🙏🏼
@@mrsducky3428 Uh, NO! According to the Bible, God's Word, there is only one term and condition to enter Heaven, and that is to become Born-Again by repenting of your sins and receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior. It is by His grace through His faith a person is saved and not by anything they could ever do. Once that is done Jesus promises to never leave or forsake them - no matter what.
Thank God for Bishop Barron and all who help to bring The Lord’s good news to this short-sighted world.
Bishop Barron always presents truth in such an understandable way. I'm blessed to have discovered his website a few years ago. Blessings to all.
Great video! Doesn't father say for us not to carry on with words but say the our father for he knows our needs!
That parable never bothered me. I like knowing that the latecomers will be taken care of
Same ❤
Especially since I do feel like a perpetual latecomer. 😐
@@kartofff you are not too late 🤗🙏🏼🥰
Bishop Barron is such an inspiring person. I loved that during COVID we were able to hear his Sunday Mass each week.
Luckily, God understands justice and mercy way better than we do.
Thank you for this because I think of all my family and friends who do not know or believe I pray every day for their salvation, this gives me hope!
The goal isn't personal reward. The goal is the salvation of souls.
Beautiful words! Thank you brother for reminding me this❤
Thanks for listening
These unbiblical words are all false and have no basis in truth nor reality. catholiciam is a 100% false, manmade, Godless abomination.
I have zero issues with God's extensive mercy❤
A wise old priest told me that above all, God s a loving and forgiving God. He is capable of much more forgiveness than we are.
@kristinebailey God is more than capable, loving and forgiving. First of all He is holy and righteous ❤!
The crazy math of grace!
That is a great way to understand it. Thank you and God bless.
Only those that believe in Jesus. It’s not about your good works so that no-one can boast.
With that logic, demons will be in heaven.
@@jedroueche8161salvation is only through repentance unto Jesus Christ asking him into your heart. Bible says there's no other way but by Jesus
@@jedroueche8161 never said as a Christian you shouldn't do these things but it's not how you get saved it's works after salvation
@@EvieWest-ut4kt Welcome to Catholic teaching.
God doesn't want any of His children in Hell. He wants them all with Him. That's why He gives us chance after chance to repent...7 times 70...❤
Be blessed man of God!
Pray for your enemies, that is the path to heaven.
Bishop Barron , I was struggling with this for many years, thank you for explaining it .
We must be born again in the Spirit
Jesus Christ said to his Apostles.
Jonh 6 53:54
Verly verly I say unto you except you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink His blood ye have no life in you 54.whose eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day.
Weren't we born again when we were baptized?

From your comments section this parable escapes most of us sinners. That's why "A daily shot of God' ain't gonna cut it. We live ourselves into the Kingdom of God by being washed in the blood of Christ and aligning our will with His. Read John 6. The whole chapter.
This was not a clickbite. This is really mind-blowing. Thank you!
Thus we are united in love with LOVE HIMSELF…
And that is Heaven! 😇🪽🕊️🔥🌟🌃✝️
Purgatory is a second chance. Purgatory is for those who are going to Heaven but need more purification.

Only faith in Jesus Christ can bring you to heaven.

I think my reply went a little more into depth saying how the Mob-Hitman sure could be in heaven, but it has nothing to do with confessing to a priest.
Bishop barron missed a point. Ok
You’re working on the presumption that the confessions wasn’t sincere, or given with a contrite heart. Having not been there, I can’t say that he was or wasn’t sincere but I would fervently hope he was. Certainly the priest attending him felt that it was a good confession.
Remember in God’s mercy a good confession can be motivated solely by the fear of hell.
Roman’s 8:34. Who is the one condemning? For it is Christ Jesus, the one having died, now rather having been raised up, who is also at the right hand of God, and who is interceding for us.
Christ is interceding for us in matters of condemnation! CHRIST HIMSELF.
In simple terms
Humility, Gratitude, love and kindness, are the simple tools for us mortal beings to journey to divine rest
Please meditate:
Ephesians 2 : 8-9
Dont forget Ephesians 2:10 either - please meditate that for you

I do not begrudge any person the opportunity to enter the kingdom of God. It doesn't matter to me how good I've been and how bad someone else has been. I desire that all get to a point in their lives that they repent of their sins and declare Christ the Messiah the saviour of all who accept him.
Great prayer. Thank you!
at 4:51 the man who confesses his sin to a priest just before he dies...but did he repent and Believe in Gods only Son as the only hope of salvation?
Jesus himself said that we have to pay every last scent. It’s in the Bible.
Happy searching 😊
And belief that He died and was buried & rose again in the third day. Conquering death. Giving all who believe Him eternal life.
