In November ‘21, while walking through a nearby cemetery, I saw the gravestone of a young man (Benny) who’d died two weeks before his 19th birthday. What touched me most was that he had been born only a few months before I myself had been born. In a sense, even though I’d never even known of his existence before that moment, he and I had grown up together - would have started school the same year, probably watched the same tv shows at the same time, heard the same music on the radio, etc., yet there I was, standing at his grave, while he’d been lying in it for almost 50 years. I firmly believe that in the spiritual life, there are no coincidences; nothing happens by accident. There’s no doubt in my mind that God led me to that grave because somewhere in the eternal realm, Benny had arrived at a place where my intercession could do him the most good. Since then I’ve often prayed for the repose of his soul and have asked him to pray for me. (Eph. 2:4-7).

So sad but so beautiful. As a 2-month confirmed RCIA Catholic and 67 years old, my first All Saints Day several days ago found me praying for my parent's souls and their parents too ... all have been forgotten. I wrote all of the names of everyone I knew in a book which our priest then read during the Lost Souls Day mass ... all were prayed for. My mother lost her mother at 12 and her father became an alcoholic at about the same time and was also blinded in an accident. My mother and her four sisters were put in foster homes and had horrible lives. But as a child, I dishonored her in so many ways and was even angry with her for her depression and mental state all the way to her death. I never gave a thought to how terrible her childhood was and how deeply her tragic life had affected her. It took 67 years in my Catholic journey to realize what a bad, sinful, and self-centered mistake I had made. I confessed this in my first confession and told my confessor that my only remaining recourse to honor my mother ... and also my deceased father ... as far as I could determine, was to pray for them. My confessor said it was exactly what I should do and a beautiful way to do penance. So, I am doing this now and trying to pray for all my deceased friends and other family members too who I selfishly ignored over the years. I am convinced in God's divine mercy and while still sad I wasted so much time, I am relieved that I can still help them.

"I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

No one enters heaven unless as Holy as Jesus because God can not abide a single sin. _12If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, 13his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 14If what he has built survives, he will receive a reward. 15If it is burned up, he will suffer loss. He himself will be saved, but only as if through the flames._

1 Corinthians 3 verse 12- 16 is not talking about purgatory it’s talking about work done in the believers life. Because the work is separated from the believer that the work (worldly) will be burned up but the believer is saved no flames will touch the believer but he will lose reward because it has no spiritual value . If we build on the foundation of the gospel (gold silver stone the rock of Christ) then it won’t be burned up we will receive reward. Hope this is helpful to you . Don’t take that passage out of context because it’s not talking about a state or place or condition (take your pick) like purgatory. May the lord bless you with his grace and mercy so that your eyes will be open to the truth of his word 🙏

The Catholic church has a pontiff to provide guidance and you should listen to him and his magistrium - not make your own files. Any Mass attended at any time serves the souls well. All of them said that it’s not important what church you go to or what religion you profess to be, but that it is important for you to believe that Jesus Christ is your Lord, Savior and Redeemer, and that you believe in Heavenly Father or God. This isn't to build up concern or fear but just awareness. Maybe attending weekday Masses is something to think about. But I doubt you would go to Purgatory for this reason alone. Most people are in Purgatory for indifference or lukewarmness, but in this case, the mother was very religious but failed to share with her children the value of attending weekday Masses, and for this reason, they became very lax in their own faith. It was a failing in Christian charity. I would encourage you not to get too technical or literal with these things; everyone is different, and it's just supposed to give us some food for thought.

No of course not. It is not even a distant prospect for most people. I was semi retired and now retired. It is such a treat to be with Jesus and the whole crew several days per week. I also now only live a mile or so away from my parish. There were many times of living and working far away, many years of working on 3 weekends a month ( ER nurse, could never convince the patients to leave so we could go to church). I felt guilty for 30+ years, until a very holy and humble priest said during his sermon, “ pray as you can, not as you can’t “. It made me relax and I actually was able to pray more and found places to go for mass more frequently

No, not true. Even at the point of facing death, if the person is truly repentant with a contrite heart, you are forgiven. Judgement depends on God ie purgatory or straight to heaven. The stories make sense. The priest refused to bury the sinful woman in the cemetery, almost as if he, the priest placed direct judgement on her, although the sinful woman completely surrendered herself to God when facing her death saying she was ok with death because she did want to offend Him and couldn’t by dying. She denied nothing of herself where the priest, unfortunately did. Hope that helps.

Now as I listen to this video, I am bothered again by the fact that we are told in scripture not to talk to spirits yet this one is and is called a saint for it? Praying FOR the dead is different than praying TO the dead.
Catholic Prayer speaks to God and the Saints. The Saints are not Dead, they are Alive in Heaven WITH the Lord.
Mary is the First Saint. Revelations says she’s in Heaven (Lady Clothed with the Sun), hence our meditations on the Rosary.

@@rev3182Because those in Purgatory are already, surely, going to Heaven, and belong to the Communion of Saints. God allows the Church Militant (on Earth) to intercede for the Church Suffering (in Purgatory) so that they might join the Church Triumphant (in Heaven) much earlier than they normally would.
The admonishment against “talking to the dead” is directed to the Jews and later Christians who would engage in Necromancy for their own benefit (pagans and heathens were known to do that). Engaging in Necromancy opens portals to Hell, because only the demons (and the souls of the damned) seek illicit communication with the living, in order that they might escape Hell and reach our world.

Where in the Bible does it say to 'pray the rosary'? Book, Chapter, Verse, please.
At the last supper, Matthew 26:26-29, don't you think that the disciples knew that the bread and the wine were *symbolic* of Jesus' body and blood?
2 Peter 2:1 - _But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction._
2 Timothy 4:3-4 - _"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth..."_

As it's been said many, many, many times, the word Purgatory is not in the Bible Here are your verses of REFERENCE to it: 2 Timothy 1:18, Matthew 12:32, Luke 23:43, 1 Corinthians 3:11-3:15 and Hebrews 12:29
It does not say to say the rosary in the Bible. No one ever said that it did. But it also doesn't say to pray to your relatives that have died before us, and yet, we do. The word rosary means "wreath of roses". It is simply a form of prayer. It doesn't have to be in the Bible for us to say it.
Your Bible is different from ours. Yours will not agree with ours. So of course, you aren't going to understand it from a Protestant perspective. You can't understand what you don't what you don't know, so maybe first learn more about the Catholic religion even if you don't agree with it before judging us.

So, if you die not having any unconfessed mortal sin but die having told a lie or two for example, you're not perfect. So you can't get into heaven but you haven't severed the tie between you and Christ with a mortal sin, purgatory exists to complete that purification. Watch the video if you want the TRUTH not what you think you understand. There is a purgatory, my mom came to me from purgatory in a dream and begged me for help. After the dream I woke up and
heard satan saying to me that I should not bother my self to help her as I had problems to deal with myself.
About a year later she came to me during the day and explained why she did something to me that I was asking her not to do,
and this time I saw her coming from heaven. She explained that if she knew how I felt she would not have done it.
What she did was take me away from my family for a trip in the world. I begged her not to do it as I saw sadness and something
really bad happening to me if I went. It did happen. I made some serious wrong turns. Later I was assaulted and kidnaped.
I love my mom very much and I felt she loved me. She did warn me against using drugs which was a lot of help because
the kidnapers tried to force me to take drugs. She had really good qualities about her. She was very adventures and I am the same
way now. I see purgatory as a cleansing place but still in the heavenly realm but separated in a way. I believe that we can avoid
purgatory by trying to learn Gods system here on earth with His assistance and saying sorry if we mess-up and hurt someone.
By the way for all those that I hurt by calling you bad names or in any other way I am sorry, I did not mean it like that.
