Do not take Prolia. Many years ago my doctor puts me on Prolia without warning me of it's side effect. Whenmy teeth started to break, without having cavities, I started asking all my doctors if this was a side effect of any of my medications; they all said no. Upon going to an Oral doctor to have some roots taken out (the teeth have previously broken down) I was told that he couldn't do it because my jaw and gums were all damaged because of Prolia. Today I have a mouth full of broken teeth, roots inside gums and I can't even have dentures because of the damaged gums.
Prolia gave me horrific high blood pressure, I'd go to the hospital a few times thinking I was going to have a stroke. The further from my injection date the better things would get then on the day of my injection it would start back up again almost instantly. I gave it a chance 4 times then had to call it quits. I'd rather live with painful compression fractures then have blood pressure issues like that.
I was told to take one of the osteoporosis drugs and only told that possible side effect would be some digestive issues; none of the other potential side effects were mentioned. I decided to not take the drug but the practitioner insisted that I rethink my decision. From what I've read and heard it seems that health care doctors/nurses rarely if it all will tell women about the serious side effects of these drugs. I would advise women that they must do their own research before deciding to take these drugs.
My wife did some research after she broke her arm in a “ freak accident” and was told that she couldn’t be on other “ supposedly “ bone healing “ drugs and decided not to take prolia period ! These drugs do not cure a darn thing, in fact , if you loose your teeth, have hip fractures because of this medicine, or femur breakage, and there is no guarantee that while on meds like prolia you won’t break a bone, only a 60 percent chance from prolia that and damage to jaw, etc. she decided that she would take vitamins d and calcium , take things more slowly and keep gardening her flowers, trust in GOD , . She felt so pressured by her physician’s “ assistant “and when she said no to prolia he got mad, stormed out of the room and said “ that if she did break another bone he would have the satisfaction of telling her “ I told you so” , what kind of professional behavior is that !! …???? It seems like she was being used as a guinea pig just like the whole country was with the jab that was being forced on everyone!!
And blasts it also prevents blasts.for forming bone. Which dont recover as fast as clasts do which is why peoples legs just snap suddenly after stopping taking it.
My first dose was 2 1/2 months ago. The ONLY side effect, so far, is a bit of elevated BP which I have meds for. My labs have since shown improvement, I take a total of 4 Citrical tablets each day now, 2 in a.m. and 2 in p.m. I have a top notch endocrinologist managing my treatment, my internist didn't give me any info prior so I now feel I'm in good hands. My co-pay was 20%, $320 after receiving an exception from my insurance which didn't have Prolia in its formulary. I am 83, retired RN. I feel good patient education from your providers is a must!
Been taking it 6 years. Horrible side effects. Edema, weight gain , bone and body pain stomach issues. I have wanted to discontinue many times doctor advice d not to. My scores have not improved that much in 6 years. Rethinking it before next dose.
omg thx for this info. am being coerced to taking it. scores -2.7 . i am so active and want to treat naturally, but Endo crinologist pushing me to Prolia.
I had the first injection one week ago , I feel so tired I vomit each day I don't feel good my throat so painful I can't sleep even feeling depressed I my muscles and bones hurt and more. I feel like I'm dying slowly

I took Prolia for 1 year for 6 metastatic bone lesions from lung cancer and noticed r. Jaw pain. Oncologist paid no attention. Dentist recommended root canals. Prolia at 120 mg every month was continued. R. Osteonecrosis of the jaw ONJ was finally diagnoses after it was blatantly obvious. Should have been diagnosed when the pain developed and Prolia stopped at that time.two operations latter the jaw is still closing. One doctor in Dallas is expert in the disease. The rest have no clue. while the complication is rare for bisphosphonates for osteoporosis less than 1% it is not rare for cancer patients on Prolia and multiple cancer drugs 5-10%. Mistake is not titrating the drug and looking for the side effect. I used Prolia to treat prostate cancer in bones for many years and never saw ONJ. However the dose used by Urologists was Prolia 120 mg every 6 mos not every month.
Is it any wonder why I am non compliant with these osteoporosis drugs? I’ll take my chances without them, thank you. There are NO good options for osteoporosis drugs. Low acid diet, weight bearing exercise and getting the right balance of minerals into your system are important. Margaret’s website is very useful.
Hello, my doctor just tried to convince me to take this injection today. I said, "not just yet, let me think about it and find out a little more about the side effects." When she told me some people have experienced tooth loss, I definitely wasn't taking it today!
Does anyone know how low a Tscore drops to? Also does the Tscore show how severe or what stage(if there are stages)the disease is at? My Tscore is -3.5, wasn't for sure if that would be severe enough for such strong meds or not? Of course I would rather try dietary and supplements if possible, but I don't want this disease to progress worse. My dr immediately suggests that she is prescribing an injection? Any help or suggestions I would greatly appreciate. Thank you.
I stopped taking Prolia after two injections and I'm increasing K2 and d3, adding foods to my diet, chick peas lots of greens, even more fruit (non acid) prunes have high k2. Do lots of research and weight bearing exercises. You'll be ok!
@@Seekingtruth-mx3ur If you look at Ryan Bezdeks comment above, Barbara Yevolis reply may be a clue as to what it did for her. Apparently Prolia was first used as a Cancer drug, but it's also been prescribed for Osteoporosis since about 2010.
Very useful video. Thanks for sharing this. I would like to share that I know directly a patient who has been misdiagnosed osteoporosis in his 35 years old and was injected with this drug. The side effects have been catastrophic just by having only one shot: -Bone pain around the spine and joints -Severe muscle pain particularly around the legs/thighs - Weight loss, losing 20kgs weight incapable to regain it - Neurological issues Sadly at this point none of the healthcare doctors understand the side effects of this drug and no one seems to have interest in this, thus, this poor gentleman feels condemned to leave indefinitely with this pain without hope to recover from it, just simply because people don’t understand or might say is not related to Prolia since it’s been more than 14 months since the only shot was administered. I am seeing lots of complaints from people about this drug, however, no stories about how people succeeded and overcame this. Does this happens at all? Is there any institution or clinic/ medical research interested in fixing this damage from Prolia? I would love to hear some suggestions as this is devastating for this young gentleman. Thanks for your help! Looking forward to your comments. P.s : I read the melioguide.com blog, very interesting.
I have found a couple of reviewers that said it has had few temporary side effects and they were glad for Prolia, but there isn't a whole lot of good news out there at least from what I have read. The doctors say most people tolerate it well... Who are these people?? One male reviewer said that he was "in a lot of pain, nausea and vomiting for months, difficulty walking" but he is "so glad" for Prolia because he had 3 compression fractures and he went through hell. He said this drug may prevent more for him. I am not anti drug, but this drug should be the last resort for osteoporosis. The doctors are just so happy to have something to give to people with brittle bones, but quality of life is important too. I don't think there is a lot of research on what can be done for side effects unfortunately. I am so sorry your friend is suffering. Send him my prayers.
Doctors try to push this Drug on behalf of the Pharmaceutical Company manufacturing it!! Unfortunately you only hear about the Positives & very little or nothing about the Negative side - effects regarding Prolia & other Drugs like it!! The Patient is not told that once started you cannot stop Prolia & when you do, you have to replace it with ANOTHER DRUG -- different but similar to Prolia!! ( Also with side-effects!). I hate this Drug! I have today just had my 6th Injection & suffer from sore Bones, Muscles & feel unwell for up to 3 months after receiving it!! It should have been a big warning to me when I was made aware that there is a problem of developing Jaw Necrosis if having work carried out on your Teeth. Also, this Drug can over strengthen Bones reducing their ability to bend & flex ( which is what healthy Bones do) , thus resulting in Bones " snapping" & breaking!! Prolia alters your Bones!! I am going to have another Bone Density Scan done towards the end of the 6 months to see just how much of a difference this Drug has made. I do not feel that Patients are forewarned enough about any side-effects at the very beginning so that the Person concerned can make the right decision for themselves!! Big Pharma push the Drugs & we the Public are the Guinea Pigs!! This Drug has not been evaluated in the long term either!! If it's good enough to put big warnings on Cigarette Packets, why not with this Prolia!! It should be against the Law!! To everyone out there, be wary, be very very wary! I'll be interested to see how my Bone Density is later in the year! To everyone out there, forewarned is forearmed!! You may not get the best advice from your Doctor though because they are acting on behalf of the Drug Companies!! Kind regards.
