That would really be a cool bonus. My money is on Vol. 2 having MGS4, MGS PW and MGSV and as a bonus that encyclopedia and MGS Poortable Ops, which was foreshadowing story elements from MGS4 and also pipneered the base building operations style gameplay in PW and V.
So stoked for this release, finally MGS fans are getting some love. I’m looking forward to playing this and letting my little brother watch me play through them, cutscenes and all, so he can hopefully see why this is my favorite franchise. guns of the patriots not being on current gen is a war-crime. look at the world the story is built in though, it hits closer to home today. it’s a very spicy game to rerelease into the zeitgeist.

I hope at some point Konami does this for Silent Hill. The "Volume 1" would have the 4 Team Silent games and maybe a remastered translated port of Play Novel Silent Hill. The next one can have the other games. That would be pretty nice. I hope the best for these MGS bundles.

I like that this collection has Japanese dub for Metal Gear Solid 1 to 3. I will be playing again with Japanese dub for sure even though David Hayter is a legend. Pre ordered for soundtrack. It says a lot when I am more interested in playing Metal Gear again than the new Spider Man game. I am getting old now.
I think one of the most misunderstood parts of this collection is that "it only has 1, 2, and 3". I think it's more than acceptable because it's a lot more thorough with earlier titles like the NES games and the different versions and expansions of MGS1. It makes so much sense if they're going to put the Vol. 1 cutoff at MGS3! There's a lot of content to play and [the rest of this is speculation] it allows them more time with MGS4.
Looking forward to playing all of these games officially on PC. I've only had Metal Gear (MSX2), MGS1 and 2 on PC from their release on GOG and have always wondered why they disappeared. Good to know the reason why. I also hope Konami ports MGS4 for the Master Collection Vol. 2!!!

Yet you follow that up right after a clip is played and say I haven't played it, any build of it, don't have access to it, and only basing this off what others have said. I've seen proper reviews of people who have the games who have valid criticisms about this release yet you recommended it without even playing it. No hate or anything just would rather you have played the game first before recommending people to buy it.
This is like a $30 collection w/o delta.. they didn’t even give options for higher resolution or widescreen support like has already been done on pc.. they even lied as msg 3 is locked to 720p and not 1080p… on pc ffs.
You can ask Konami to start adding extra stuff in there politely and if there's enough demand for it, which it seems there is they will probably listen. Might take some time but there's a chance. And yes you can pause and cut scenes now. It no longer skips. It just takes a couple seconds for it's actually activate though

I don't agree. "12 games" (they're 5 if you don't count regional versions and extra content) released on the 6th generation (and even older) and some PDFs and soundtracks aren't worth full price. 39.99 would be good value.

Still pissed that it only runs at 30fps on switch. Despite being the weakest console on the market, its still significantly more powerful than the Xbox 360 and ps3 and there's absolutely no excuse for the games not to be able to run at 60fps on the switch. This is just laziness on Konami's part

The only thing you never said anything about it if we can stream it or not. Konami has blocked streaming of the hd version on console as well as silent hill. It’s not worth anything to me if I can’t share my experience with my viewers.

TLDR: I feel scammed that they porting it seemingly with effort charging 60 bucks + explaining why i feel this way To be honest I'm quite skeptical they doesn't seem to care at all for those masterpieces i mean they did the bare minimum to not take real effort yea you get a lot of bonus stuff but things like 30fps720p on switch a console that has around 2.5x processor power compared to ps3 For the mouse n keyboard stuff this came up after the big backlash not a first thought intention by konami as it seems Also i criticize the 1080p decision on potent hardware like ps5 i don't know if it work's with upscaled 4k stuff etc. Etc. I feel like its a good decision to give mgs some spotlight back don't get me wrong I'm just overly critical about the approach how disrespectful konami treats customers and how little of a standard people nowadays have and i hope those games are relatively modable on pc that the community can fix it and we all get what we deserve...a finished product that isn't just ported with as little effort as possible to make a good profit off of fans and critical praise.

People like to say "oh over the top cut scenes that stuff isn't even possible." Have they even played the game or do you just want to complain? You got 3 cyborg ninjas throughout the series (Fox, Olga, and Raiden) Metal Gear is a giant robot Psycho Mantis is a flying psychic man who makes you plug your control into the 2nd player slot Snake regularly battles Metal Gear, A GIANT ROBOT, on foot with a rocket launcher. There's a god damn vampire in 2. Fortune redirects bullets with her bare hands. Yeah, she had that piece of technology, but when Ocelot launched Ray's whole payload at them she did it herself. Don't step to me about over the top. The whole series is ridiculous and that's why people love it. Twin Snakes gets unjust hate despite being an actual good remake.
If the companies that owned the footage don't exist anymore, then why isn't the footage just fair game now? Who's gonna try and sue Konami if they were to use the footage?

It's good to see they are leaving it original for nostalgic sake however they should have graphically remade the first one with updated looks and second if these are not built from the ground up but pulled from another release i don't see why they needed or chose to include new historical references
In terms of resolution, you mention that MGS1, 2 and 3 will run at 1080p. This is not really true. MGS1 will run at the games original resolution (240p) upconverted (stretched) to 1080p. The same is true for 2 and 3, which will run at 720p, upconverted to 1080p. Non of the games will actually run at true 1080p, according to Konami on the official page. This has been confirmed by Digital Foundry, who played the games at gamescom.
I looked up what the resolution is going to be for the whole game and I can confirm without a shadow of a doubt MGS1 will be running at 1080p not 240p I like the original release
Can't wait to play all of these again. I think at this point it's pretty redundant to say, but I really hope they find a way to give us Twin Snakes in another Volume. I think the game is " lost " because Silicon Knights doesn't exist anymore, but the game was my first experience with MGS1 ( I started the series with MGS2 ) and it holds a special place in my heart. Hope it comes back. All in all, this is a real love letter to us fans, and I can't WAIT for Vol. 2 to free MGS4 from the PS3 Abyss. Also I hope they will bring back Ghost Babel and the Acids as well. And that they will NOT SKIP Portable Ops ! We need EVERYTHING ! Oh and also, great video mate ! :D
This is going to be a day 1 buy for me, and to be honest I'll likely be getting it on both my PC and Switch. As small of a nit-pick as it is, I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they fix the out-of-sync intro to Snake Eater that was featured in the HD Collection. In the original release of MGS3, the music was timed perfectly to the visuals, but in the HD collection the music starts during the "Konami presents" part and throws the entire intro out-of-sync. It was never patched/fixed. One thing I am a bit peeved about is if you purchased the Nvidia Shield TV ports of the HD versions of MGS2 and MGS3, the games will no longer work, as they will always fail the "license check" now that Konami has pulled them from all store-fronts. Rather than let people who purchased the games play them without having to validate the license every time, Konami just straight up tells people to request refunds. The Shield TV ports actually ran fantastic and I'm genuinely bummed out that they're lost forever now.
I remember going to my local video club and renting VR Missions dozens and dozens of time because it was the only one available there thinking hmg, this is so amazing, probably the greatest game ever....My surprise when I played MGS1 for the first time, couldn't believe it
I do want to know how about the face button sensitivity thing on MGS2 in particular. I know it's also in MGS3, but not as necessary as it is in MGS2 VR missions section. For the most part you can play the game fine, but there are a couple missions in the VR section that are sort of impossible to get first place without the face buttons sensitivity ability. I guess just would like to know anything about that.
I’m sure it’ll work the exact same way it worked in the Xbox versions of the game. I find the pressure sensitivity more annoying than anything and prefer the Xbox versions controls anyway.
@@assassinonprozac Yea, I just was hoping to be sure it wouldn't be an issue. I think the V's fix mod on PC to be one of the better alternatives to it. Ultimately not a huge deal for the majority of the games, so it isn't a huge deal really I guess.

Ah this brings back memories of those damn grenade missions. The last of which was the hardest to get that #1 rank. This was all on the original PSX, so loooong before tophies were a thing. I have to admit, im not yet convinced to get this collection. I already have all of them, i still ahve my PS2 with emotion enginge connected and i still play MGO2 on my ps3 to this day. I already own the HD collection, so what else is there to bring me back. Other than the desire to replay the classics
Update: It's playable on PC. I've only played MGS1 and MGSV. The PS1 was a birthday gift from a relative, and my parents thought a console would be too big a distraction through school, so naturally I've just been a heavy PC user. All the ones in between, I entirely enjoyed them by watching someone else's playthrough of them. That's why this release is a big deal to me. Console controllers are slightly less foreign feeling to me now since getting a Steam Deck this summer. There's been so much pessimism about this, and I've been looking into the decision to just get the Legacy collection with either an external USB blu ray drive for PC or a PS3 console. I even had a dream yesterday about trying to play the master collection on my Steam Deck, and rushing to refund it. Not sure why I felt like I was running out of time to get the legacy collection, but I'll just patiently wait another 2 days for this.
I was drawn into the MGS series via PS1 Emulation, I did play MGS2's PC Port, but found it to be quite awful. With the Master Collection, I'll be able to play MGS1/2 and for the first time, I'll be able to play MGS3 post the Sokolov Scene.

It's definitely not an "incredible value" and it's 100% a lazy cash in for the quarterly sales. They've been sitting on these for years and required little work. This is coming from a huge fan of the franchise that buys everything.
To be fair, for console users: where else will you find a copy of the MGS HD collection which has 2, 3 & VR missions? I’m on the Xbox side of things. I DO have a PC that I can emulate games with but I have a storage issue needing dealing with. The HD collection on the Xbox 360 was delisted from the storefront due to Konami not renewing the historical footage license. The game was an easy $20 and now it’s ~$40 physically. I’m personally going to get this collection because of the achievements and I have never played the older MGS games. I think $60 is steep but it ain’t $70 and there’s loads of content. If the games run well and are ported good? Then it’s a solid choice.
Really concerned about how they will handle upscaling MGS1. In the videos I’ve seen with people with the leaked game it looks like a bilinear upscale which sucks. There should be an option for a sharp pixel upscale, and even better an option for CRT filters. Have a feeling playing this on a mister or real hardware + retrotink will still be the superior way to play MGS1
Yea, I'm hoping it lets you play with a sharper image, as you can through emulation. Also hoping that the UI elements look sharp as well in all 3 games, or at least MGS2 and 3. If it doesn't happen, the only chance to get that is through modding lol.
Well this aged like milk. Lazy ports of ports, buggier than they used to be, and all of it costing full price when this was just in the 40s back then. Kinda sad really. I get better quality and stability with the PS3 emu of the collection.

Personally just the fact metal gear solid 1, 2 and 3 is absolutely fine with me as their great games but all games I feel like is a little to much I dont mind that they split it I still think its personally fine
That's a fine #MetalGearSolid/#MetalGear collection with hours upon hours of gameplay, but one curious thing about it, is the downgrade of #MGS2 from 60fps on PS2 to 30fps on the collection, a game that was originally released 22 years ago! Granted, #MGS3 with its more intricate jungle environment ran at 30fps on PS2, so keeping it at 30 frames can be considered a more authentic replication of the original gaming experience, but the reduced frame rate in #MetalGearSolid2 can not be justified. Only reason for it, would be incompetence from the programmers doing the conversion! Even still, this compilation seems like a must buy for any #MetalGear fan, considering the amount of ground breaking games offered in this package. It's like a slice of gaming history, finally being able to play it all on one console. Let's hope the next volume is as complete as this one, perhaps giving us #MGS4, #PSP's #MGSPeaceWalker, PSP's #MetalGearPortableOps (with better controls like the previous #PeaceWalker conversion). Throw in the two PSP #MetalGearAcid card strategy games and Raiden's solo hack'n'slash game #MetalGearRising and I'll be a happy camper!
I used to play almost every metal gear and metal gear solid game as a kid. I hope that my experiences go well. My expectations arent too high but i would prefer the most original as possible.
I just hope when they figure and make MGS4 in a collection, they include the digital encyclopedia that came with MGS4

You can ask Konami to start adding extra stuff in there politely and if there's enough demand for it, which it seems there is they will probably listen. Might take some time but there's a chance. And yes you can pause and cut scenes now. It no longer skips. It just takes a couple seconds for it's actually activate though

I don't agree. "12 games" (they're 5 if you don't count regional versions and extra content) released on the 6th generation (and even older) and some PDFs and soundtracks aren't worth full price. 39.99 would be good value.

To be honest I'm quite skeptical they doesn't seem to care at all for those masterpieces i mean they did the bare minimum to not take real effort yea you get a lot of bonus stuff but things like 30fps720p on switch a console that has around 2.5x processor power compared to ps3

It's good to see they are leaving it original for nostalgic sake however they should have graphically remade the first one with updated looks and second if these are not built from the ground up but pulled from another release i don't see why they needed or chose to include new historical references
In terms of resolution, you mention that MGS1, 2 and 3 will run at 1080p. This is not really true. MGS1 will run at the games original resolution (240p) upconverted (stretched) to 1080p. The same is true for 2 and 3, which will run at 720p, upconverted to 1080p. Non of the games will actually run at true 1080p, according to Konami on the official page. This has been confirmed by Digital Foundry, who played the games at gamescom.
I don't think I ever claimed they were running a "native" 1080p resolution, just that they are running in 1080p, upscaled of course.
I looked up what the resolution is going to be for the whole game and I can confirm without a shadow of a doubt MGS1 will be running at 1080p not 240p I like the original release

Can't wait to play all of these again. I think at this point it's pretty redundant to say, but I really hope they find a way to give us Twin Snakes in another Volume. I think the game is " lost " because Silicon Knights doesn't exist anymore, but the game was my first experience with MGS1 ( I started the series with MGS2 ) and it holds a special place in my heart. Hope it comes back.
All in all, this is a real love letter to us fans, and I can't WAIT for Vol. 2 to free MGS4 from the PS3 Abyss. Also I hope they will bring back Ghost Babel and the Acids as well. And that they will NOT SKIP Portable Ops ! We need EVERYTHING !

This is going to be a day 1 buy for me, and to be honest I'll likely be getting it on both my PC and Switch. As small of a nit-pick as it is, I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they fix the out-of-sync intro to Snake Eater that was featured in the HD Collection. In the original release of MGS3, the music was timed perfectly to the visuals, but in the HD collection the music starts during the "Konami presents" part and throws the entire intro out-of-sync. It was never patched/fixed.
One thing I am a bit peeved about is if you purchased the Nvidia Shield TV ports of the HD versions of MGS2 and MGS3, the games will no longer work, as they will always fail the "license check" now that Konami has pulled them from all store-fronts. Rather than let people who purchased the games play them without having to validate the license every time, Konami just straight up tells people to request refunds. The Shield TV ports actually ran fantastic and I'm genuinely bummed out that they're lost forever now.
I remember going to my local video club and renting VR Missions dozens and dozens of time because it was the only one available there thinking hmg, this is so amazing, probably the greatest game ever....My surprise when I played MGS1 for the first time, couldn't believe it

I do want to know how about the face button sensitivity thing on MGS2 in particular. I know it's also in MGS3, but not as necessary as it is in MGS2 VR missions section. For the most part you can play the game fine, but there are a couple missions in the VR section that are sort of impossible to get first place without the face buttons sensitivity ability. I guess just would like to know anything about that.
I’m sure it’ll work the exact same way it worked in the Xbox versions of the game. I find the pressure sensitivity more annoying than anything and prefer the Xbox versions controls anyway.
@@assassinonprozac Yea, I just was hoping to be sure it wouldn't be an issue. I think the V's fix mod on PC to be one of the better alternatives to it. Ultimately not a huge deal for the majority of the games, so it isn't a huge deal really I guess.

Ah this brings back memories of those damn grenade missions. The last of which was the hardest to get that #1 rank. This was all on the original PSX, so loooong before tophies were a thing. I have to admit, im not yet convinced to get this collection. I already have all of them, i still ahve my PS2 with emotion enginge connected and i still play MGO2 on my ps3 to this day. I already own the HD collection, so what else is there to bring me back. Other than the desire to replay the classics

I've only played MGS1 and MGSV. The PS1 was a birthday gift from a relative, and my parents thought a console would be too big a distraction through school, so naturally I've just been a heavy PC user. All the ones in between, I entirely enjoyed them by watching someone else's playthrough of them. That's why this release is a big deal to me. Console controllers are slightly less foreign feeling to me now since getting a Steam Deck this summer.
There's been so much pessimism about this, and I've been looking into the decision to just get the Legacy collection with either an external USB blu ray drive for PC or a PS3 console. I even had a dream yesterday about trying to play the master collection on my Steam Deck, and rushing to refund it. Not sure why I felt like I was running out of time to get the legacy collection, but I'll just patiently wait another 2 days for this.
I was drawn into the MGS series via PS1 Emulation, I did play MGS2's PC Port, but found it to be quite awful. With the Master Collection, I'll be able to play MGS1/2 and for the first time, I'll be able to play MGS3 post the Sokolov Scene.
Also, hopefully we'll see a Vol. 2 with Portable Ops/Peace Walker and MGS4.
MGS1 and 2 have had a fix for PC for years now, i played through 2 on PC with almost no issues in like 2018/19
Crappy stuff as always, just milking the franchise! Why no peace walker? Why not an official PC port of MGS 4? I will stick with the ps3 HD collection, NO WAY of giving any money for this polished turd!

To be fair, for console users: where else will you find a copy of the MGS HD collection which has 2, 3 & VR missions? I’m on the Xbox side of things. I DO have a PC that I can emulate games with but I have a storage issue needing dealing with. The HD collection on the Xbox 360 was delisted from the storefront due to Konami not renewing the historical footage license. The game was an easy $20 and now it’s ~$40 physically.
I’m personally going to get this collection because of the achievements and I have never played the older MGS games. I think $60 is steep but it ain’t $70 and there’s loads of content. If the games run well and are ported good? Then it’s a solid choice.
Really concerned about how they will handle upscaling MGS1. In the videos I’ve seen with people with the leaked game it looks like a bilinear upscale which sucks. There should be an option for a sharp pixel upscale, and even better an option for CRT filters. Have a feeling playing this on a mister or real hardware + retrotink will still be the superior way to play MGS1
Yea, I'm hoping it lets you play with a sharper image, as you can through emulation. Also hoping that the UI elements look sharp as well in all 3 games, or at least MGS2 and 3. If it doesn't happen, the only chance to get that is through modding lol.

That's a fine #MetalGearSolid/#MetalGear collection with hours upon hours of gameplay, but one curious thing about it, is the downgrade of #MGS2 from 60fps on PS2 to 30fps on the collection, a game that was originally released 22 years ago! Granted, #MGS3 with its more intricate jungle environment ran at 30fps on PS2, so keeping it at 30 frames can be considered a more authentic replication of the original gaming experience, but the reduced frame rate in #MetalGearSolid2 can not be justified. Only reason for it, would be incompetence from the programmers doing the conversion!
Even still, this compilation seems like a must buy for any #MetalGear fan, considering the amount of ground breaking games offered in this package. It's like a slice of gaming history, finally being able to play it all on one console.
Let's hope the next volume is as complete as this one, perhaps giving us #MGS4, #PSP's #MGSPeaceWalker, PSP's #MetalGearPortableOps (with better controls like the previous #PeaceWalker conversion). Throw in the two PSP #MetalGearAcid card strategy games and Raiden's solo hack'n'slash game #MetalGearRising and I'll be a happy camper!

I used to play almost every metal gear and metal gear solid game as a kid. I hope that my experiences go well. My expectations arent too high but i would prefer the most original as possible.
