Thanks to MGS1 I learned to speak English, my native language is Spanish, I’ve tried to comprehend the game, not just killing people… so I played the entire game with an English-Spanish dictionary on hand, more than a couple of times. My favorite franchise.
MGS 1 helped me learn english back when I played it as a kid. I so much wanted to learn to understand it better. I'm polish. Not only that but just this single game is fully responsible for creating my preference for treating story in video games as the biggest selling point for me. It's been something like 20 years now since I played it and still this hasn't changed a single bit. It's not my only preference of course. But a really good story (and I mean for real) leaves practically every other characteristic far behind. Damn... Good thing I had this and not... Things like Fortnite. I mean I have nothing against Fortnite... But I definitely would not want IT to be responsible for creating my preference as a kid:|

Kojima is the king of really stupid ideas that shouldn't be put into games. Can you imagine the hell his studio went threw when he was let to his own devices during Death Stranding's development? I swear Kojima is obsessed with pee, in MGS 1-3 we see characters pissing themselves, and then in 2 Raiden gets pissed on.....
David hayter we miss you..
Great stuff, disappointing though that you guys haven't brought up anything on 1st two metal gear titles that released on MSX2, nor the standalone spin-offs.
Best commentation I have ever heard. The subtleness and perfection 👤
Much love to the DYKG staff and David Hayter
I love Kojima and the MGS series, but most of these cut ideas made me go "thank god that didn't make it into the final game"
Kojima is the king of really stupid ideas that shouldn't be put into games. Can you imagine the hell his studio went threw when he was let to his own devices during Death Stranding's development? He's like a first year film student and anyone who calls him out for terrible, cliche, or unnecessary ideas just "doesn't get it"
@@AngryCosmonaut I have to agree. Kojima is massively overrated. He's just another pampered, delusional auteur who keeps being given massive budgets trying to do the impossible and being forced to settle for having everyone else under him doing the real work. He's just another Tommy Wisseu, when it all really comes down to it.
The video really hints so much at Death Stranding, that Death Stranding was the dream he wanted to develop his whole life
I almost forgot David Hayter was narrating this. Until he mentioned knowing that nobody would like Snake not being the main character.
"The biggest thing that almost got cut" had me rollin😂😂😂
Fun fact: the psp gps was released in Europe too but the European copy of PO didn’t have the gps part in the game. The American version did but the gps wasn’t sold in america
Eventually Kojima is gonna find a way to do smell vials.
Perfect narration choice
This is very very interesting, & no one else better to narrate
40:50 - I know the NES version had nothing to with Kojima, but... that does explain why multiple soldiers parachute in during the NES port of Metal Gear.
Great video, MGS lore is always intriguing!
Also much love to HK !
U got a new sub just off u giving the knowledge of me knowing I read master sniper like 5 times and so did team nice tibe bit of knowledge great book by the way
God I forgot about that uncanny Hayter interview in MGS4 feels like Inland Empire
Hearing Snake himself say “The biggest thing that got cut, was not Raiden’s penis” is fucking gold
Ugh 😩
The David himself doing this is classic 😊
You the MAN!!!!
Its scary to know hideo kojima knew about ai potential way back then. How its so true now. And now we got vr and ar.
Fantastic video.
