When the topic of remakeing metal gears 1 and 2 came up in the video, wouldn't it be possible to say that metal gear solid was say a soft reboot of the series? like yeah the events of the older games still happened but a lot of the events in solid mirror oddly similar to metal gear.

Really hoping Portable Ops and Rising get included as bonus in Vol 2. in the future. The only problem is that you can only play it on PSP, i own it but I'd much rather play on the big screen with dual analog controllers. And Rising is a super underrated and underappreciated MG game, a jolly good time of hack and slash and heavy metal.

1:22 because it is amazing and literally Survival mechanic from 3 but with Fox Engine gameplay AND Gun porn that I could finally 100% use without it being trashy non safe run (or non XOF base mission) because these are bunch of zombies instead of humans that I as a "character" had absolute 0 beef with (except XOF) mostly. And also satisfying coop. Literally couldn't get better than this.
I deleted my past comment to also provide some help for newcomers: DON'T buy the Master Collection 1 on PC. The Collection is actually a mostly solid attempt, but the PC port is _very_ barebones with clickbait channels even declaring it a SCAM just because they're only familiar with the PC port. Go for the console versions, and you'll be fine (though I personally am content with PC as it's the version I pre-ordered and there's tons of modding potential, if V's fix from the equally dire, if not worse Solid 2 Substance port is any indication).
Are you seriously lecturing Hideo Kojima on what’s part of his story? Read our Myth article (to completion; don’t stop after only reading the first half of Kojima’s answers). It’s in the Further Readings guide.
If you are reading this, please also try Metal Gear Rising. It is easily one of the best games in the series (and best games overall), it was just “divisive” when it came out because it is technically a spin-off. And its lore is very separate from the rest of the franchise, so you don’t need any previous knowledge.
The problem is that it ruined Raiden’s character by having him embrace Jack the Ripper, even though Snake taught him “you can stop being part of a mistake, starting now.” (43:35) m.ruclips.net/video/9GljJN5uAyQ/видео.html It’s a fun game, but for those of us who care about the series’ themes and messages, we ought to consider it, if not officially non-canon (to Konami), then non-Kojima-canon (if you go to the “Essential Myth Articles” part of our Further Readings guide, you’ll see why).
Peace walker is currently available on Xbox 360, one, and series s/x, and ps3. So as of the upcoming master collection release, if you have an Xbox…the only one you won’t be able to play is mgs 4
they can be emulated? wow. i didnt know that. i just uh youre telling me that for the first time. theyre amazing games, what else can you say? theyre amazing games, whether you agree or not, they are amazing games. happy to hear that.
Great video. But I also suggest for newcomers to the saga on PC, before considering buying the Masters, to play the GOG versions of MGS and MGS2 which are official PC releases with actual support for keyboard and mouse. Both can be run at 60fps only caveat is with MGS since the game's engine and animations are specifically designed for 30fps playing on 60fps accelerates the game. MGS2 however you can play at smooth glorious 60fps and with the MGS2 V fix launcher you can add special effects and run up to 8k resolution. MGS2 has been pulled from GOG store but you can still find the game, if you know where to look ;)
The GOG versions are terrible. MGS1 is missing effects and MGS2 isn’t even available (but also, doesn’t have proper widescreen. Even the hack messes with the aspect ratio).
1:36 at this point just buy decent laptop, not even PC. MGS4 is almost perfectly run with emulator and MGS 3 in basically The Snyder Cut form only exists as Subsistence for PS2 with awesome Nightmare dream gameplay. And all of these is free and you can even play Metal Gear Online 2 !! and 1 too probably. Really PC is the Master Race, the Master Race is PC there is no way to games than through PC, all yours consoles will turn to dust, bur PC will be forever.
Not really. If anything MGR undoes MGS4’s hard won victory and torched Raiden’s happy ending. If you read our Myth articles, you’ll see that Kojima didn’t consider it part of his personal canon.
I meant more aesthetically. Ik Kojima doesn’t view it as cannon but I like to and Ik I’m not the only one. Aesthetically they are very similar and I think they blend well.

I had the original PS versions when they came out in 98. I did notice that Twin Snakes cleaned up the original MGS as well as make characters actually talk. Is that what we'll be getting in Master Collection?
wdym the characters always had voice acting. In fact, TTS actually had worse voice acting.
@ForceWave-1139 I mean if u look at the animation of TTS it's crisper and the characters actually move they're mouths and facial expressions when they talk. As opposed to the original PS1 MGS
@@mikeking1948None of that really matters when the experience is worse overall. Watch jackdonsurfer’s ‘Metal Gear Solid vs. The Twin Snakes: How Not to Remake a Classic.’
1:37 idk RPCS3 is one of the easiest to set up emulators I have ever come across that arent of the NES or the like
As the person who made the MGS4 Minecraft guide, I strongly disagree. Even now that I got the game stable, it still has some noticeable issues.
i prefer a FN P90 to play mgs4 IRL IMO YMMV IYKYK
Yeah, about that MGS 4. Every other game runs well to great on the RPCS3 in minecraft. But MGS 4 just crashes randomly after about 2 or 5 or 10 or 3 minutes into gameplay without any reason. (in minecraft)
I have The Legacy Collection. It's great and well worth the price.
Not everyone has a PS3.
When the topic of remakeing metal gears 1 and 2 came up in the video, wouldn't it be possible to say that metal gear solid was say a soft reboot of the series?
like yeah the events of the older games still happened but a lot of the events in solid mirror oddly similar to metal gear.
Every Metal Gear game shares elements of past entries. Look up ‘Monstrous Births’ by James Howell. It’s linked in our Further Readings guide.
Which is why I find it funny when people complain that MGS2 is too similar to MGS1, since that's the only one where the repitition is actually explained by the plot.
@@cookieface80 I thought MGS2 being similar to 1 WAS the plot point.
like they mention it ingame that the big shell was suppose to mirror shadow moses or something even down to dead cell being that games equivalent to foxhound.
@@Argonisgema Yeah, exactly. They wanted to prove that they could influence anybody to do what they wanted, Shadow Moses was the model they used to test that.
Just got my switch physical copy today and I need like almost 30 gigs there’s olny 3 gigs on the cart strange
The Switch version is one of those physical fakes where you have to download most of the content.
Really hoping Portable Ops and Rising get included as bonus in Vol 2. in the future. Portable Ops features some very crucial events that plant the seeds for Big Boss' private army motivation plus alot of character development for Ocelot, Roy Cambell, and Gray Fox. The only problem is that you can only play it on PSP, i own it but I'd much rather play on the big screen with dual analog controllers. And Rising is a super underrated and underappreciated MG game, a jolly good time of hack and slash and heavy metal.
14:30 If it wasn't clear to you, DO NOT PLAY METAL GEAR SURVIVE its a game so bad its not even worth pirating
You played it?
Ok so i own a PS3 and PS5 i watched the video but am still wondering what you would recommend for me, i haven’t played a single game yet but am pretty sure i’m gonna enjoy the series. I was just wondering if it is better on the PS5 or that it is better on the PS3… Where i’m from the legacy is unavailable but i could buy games like the HD collection, Peace walker, Metal gear Solid 4, Master collection vol 1 and Metal gear solid V the definitive experience. Please help cause i really want to know what you think is the best choice…

Go with whatever version is cheaper for you. The Master Collection of MGS1 still has some issues.
Own all of them ready to play with my ps3 still hooked up ready to go, metal gear rising too. Ground zeroes and mgsV on ps4/5.
Still probably get this collection at some point though. Maybe when its a bit cheaper.
Thanks for keeping us updated on your individual situation.
Rising on the Ps3 was not that good. I prefer the PC-version with the fps fix of course. (I really like this game ^^)
I have MGS on GOG and kinda "started early" playing the series. This is my first time playing any MGS and i couldn't be more excited.
Get a refund. The GOG version is terrible.
@@ForceWave-1139 Hmm i was under the impression that the GOG version of MGS1 is one of the best versions of the game or was it with fan patches or something? 🤔
@@mikael9931Even with fan patches, it’s missing music and still has lots of small issues that add up. Whoever told you the GOG version is the best was high.
@@ForceWave-1139 So refunding the GOG version and getting the master collection is the best course of action?
@@mikael9931Correct
I feel like that new set of remasters they did aren't worth the money.
If you're a fan that bought the Collection for PS3/Xbox then you already have more than whats offered in this newest release.
yeah probs but heres the thing. im not a newcomer. you dont sound like one either. imagine youre a zoomer born after the big shell incident who heard someone go "metal gear solids is the best fr" and then youre like ok how to i play this metal gear solids and they tell you to do a bunch of shit you dont want to do like buy an old piece of shit from a crack addict or download a bunch of questionable shit on your art-school-student-loan-funded ipad pro. having this shit on ps5 and hoping they patch everything wrong with it is probably what youre gonna do. some millenial might tell you how easy it is to play them on ps3 and youre gonna call them a boomer. in your heart, you know im right. anyways, heres wonderwall ruclips.net/video/6hzrDeceEKc/видео.html
What is the game called that he says right after the splinter cell series? I've listened several times and I just can't make out what is being said lol.
Mike Bithell’s Volume
Go for the console versions, and you'll be fine (though I personally am content with PC as it's the version I pre-ordered and there's tons of modding potential, if V's fix from the equally dire, if not worse Solid 2 Substance port is any indication).
ive still never played 3 or 4.
I think Death Stranding would work better as a movie. The story mainly.
There metal gear movies could I watch thoes without playing the games cus the masters collection is expansive
Dont forget Rising and Portable Ops!
We didn’t. 14:18
16:25 too bad that in MGS4 there are footages from Twin Snakes and Portable Ops cutscenes. Uh oh.
Are you seriously lecturing Hideo Kojima on what’s part of his story?
Read our Myth article (to completion; don’t stop after only reading the first half of Kojima’s answers). It’s in the Further Readings guide.
It bugs me that the MSX versions are not included in this upcoming Vol. 1 collection 😢
But they are. They even come with MGS1 if you buy it individually.
@@ForceWave-1139 they are?? I guess I read it wrong .. hold up lol
It says famicom , nes version
@@illlogick7151Both the MSX games and NES games are part of the Master Collection.
I see now ! Thank you for taking the time to clear that up for me !
If you are reading this, please also try Metal Gear Rising. It is easily one of the best games in the series (and best games overall), it was just “divisive” when it came out because it is technically a spin-off. And its lore is very separate from the rest of the franchise, so you don’t need any previous knowledge.
The problem is that it ruined Raiden’s character by having him embrace Jack the Ripper, even though Snake taught him “you can stop being part of a mistake, starting now.” (43:35) m.ruclips.net/video/9GljJN5uAyQ/видео.html
It’s a fun game, but for those of us who care about the series’ themes and messages, we ought to consider it, if not officially non-canon (to Konami), then non-Kojima-canon (if you go to the “Essential Myth Articles” part of our Further Readings guide, you’ll see why).
Peace walker is currently available on Xbox 360, one, and series s/x, and ps3.
So as of the upcoming master collection release, if you have an Xbox…the only one you won’t be able to play is mgs 4
There’s three other platforms PW needs to be ported to.
10:35 You can play peace walker on emulators or xbox series/ one
Not everyone has an XBox, and most players aren’t willing to do emulation.
And it’ll probably be included in Vol.2.
they can be emulated? wow. i didnt know that. i just uh youre telling me that for the first time. theyre amazing games, what else can you say? theyre amazing games, whether you agree or not, they are amazing games. happy to hear that.
Hey, grandpa! You are alive!
How do people not know the old games in HD collection we're playable on xbox one with backwards compatibility

I barely started playing and I’m at the part with the big titty sniper girl this game is good 👍
The Twin Snakes on Nintendo GameCube was so awesome!
@@subtegral what did you not like about it?
Lets see
I hope Portable ops is in Volume 2. Jesus, it really desires more respect.
Really PC is the Master Race, the Master Race is PC there is no way to games than through PC, all yours consoles will turn to dust, bur PC will be forever.
yeah true, the correct order to play the metal gear series is to buy trump lawyer alina habba's republic of gamer laptop
@@thesnakesoup makes sense why you guys overrate Metal Gear Solid 2 so much.

I think when the next collection comes out mgs4 and rising should be in it at once considering how closely related they are
@@WitheredRos3Aesthetics don’t really matter when it fundamentally screws over Raiden’s character. (43:35) m.ruclips.net/video/9GljJN5uAyQ/видео.html
