    Yo Thanks!
According to website motorcycle specs the Grom has 9,6 hp and a topspeed of 59 mph, and the Monkey has 9,2 hp and a topspeed of 57, so your race seems accordingly.
However, I think your speedometer is not optimistic as it should do a cruising speed at at least ca 55 mph.
When the engine is properly broken in, after ca 600 miles, maybe it will be a little faster.
Could you try to compare the speedometer to a GPS reading on your phone to see how they match?
The Monkey is by far the cutest bike of the two!

that makes a lot of sense, thanks for the additional info! yeah definitely, i’ll make a video this week doing a gps test compared to the monkeys speedometer 🙌

I thought the Monkey and the Grom have the same engine and transmission. If so, why such a large difference in performance? By the way, I picked up my 1023 Monkey a few weeks ago, and it is a fun little bike.

Thanks for the vid.both awesome little bikes. Can't beat the Monkey for comfort though😊. The discrepancy in speeds Europe and US versions could be down to the fuel. US has less bang for your buck than European. Mostly 95 ron and up. US is like 89 or 90 from what I can remember on my travels. ✌️

I just test ride a brand new monkey same colour as yours with 1 mile on the clock.. it went 56 mph against the wind (quite windy) and 63 with a tailwind - I also check with GPS and it was only 2 miles off👍👍👍👍I am still waiting for the Dax though

that’s interesting, any idea as to why mine seems to only hit 50? how much do you weigh if you don’t mind me asking?

@@itsmebdon My weight is 165 pounds (75 kg) … Maybe there is a difference in the performance between those here in Europe and yours in the USA. When I check out videos of Monkeys from the UK they often do 65 on GPS.
Try to test the max speed on a GPS on a straight road, maybe your speedometer is very pessimistic

@@bennythomsen5974 i just did a gps speed test on my phone and it said i maxed at 55mph flat ground, my monkey was telling me 53/54 so fairly close. i’ll make a video though and post the two

@@itsmebdon I've got a 23 monkey and it tops out around 52 on level ground. I'm about 180lbs. I've gps checked mine and the speedometer read within 1mph. Going down a hill I got it to hit 57mph.

@@collinschulz yeah that sounds like mine, i think i’ve been able to hit ab 63-65 downhill but i don’t really see the need for these lil bikes to go any faster 😂

Hope u still don't need this info after 8 months of riding lol. Idk what exactly ur looking for but "starting" is easy. Turn the key to on, turn the killswitch on, wait for the fuel pump to prime and start her up. Learn how to use the friction zone to take off and add a little bit of throttle when doing so. Stopping at a light is easy. Just downshift as needed before the stop, pull the clutch in, start with the rear brake and then add front brake to come to a stop. Get in the habit of putting your left foot down with your right foot still on the brake. Taking off from the light is the same as taking off from your driveway, just with someone watching you from behind lol.
