    One miss here is the Grom has a single spine frame vs the Benelli trellis frame being much stronger and rigid especially on side loading. Add 41mm vs 31mm forks and you a much stronger platform. You’re have to spend $850 plus labor to get the Grom a 4 valve head, and who doesn’t like the analog tach over a LCD. Benelli seams like a much better value for money and I own two other Honda motorcycles.

    My friend and I went to a motorcycle shop today to check out some gear and were set on Honda Groms, but so hard to find NEW out here, so we ended up sitting on the Benelux they had their and almost are completely convinced just haven’t sat on the Honda Grom to make a full and final decision. Great reviews on both bikes, my friend and I are really doing a lot of research on both and this definitely helps out.

    I would suggest the reason you can't start it with the kickstand down in neutral, is the same reason the N light is on in 5th gear.
    Problem with the gear sensor.
    Mine starts and runs fine in neutral, stand down.

  • @kens97sto171
    @kens97sto171 2 года назад +9

    I think the price on the TNT is about $400 less than the Grom new MSRP.. Id go Grom, also with the much larger aftermarket and dealer support.. Also can get ABS on the Grom now and it is a 5spd also. But the TNT especially in the bright green color looks awesome..
    At one point at the beginning you hit the rev limiter on the highway in top gear. I wonder if it would benefit from a slight sprocket change.

    Nice comparison! I have both and agree with your thoughts, grom feels tighter overall but benelli is more comfortable and less harsh (I also don't have the bad vibrations people mention) at speed. Still though, if I had to keep one I would probably go with the grom, had it longer and aftermarket is much more prominent.

      @@hell6960 Its a safety feature that don't let the bike start on my 2023 ABS Grom so you don't forget the kickstand down, and snag it on something and crash. Personally i like it that way for obvious reasons. If your bikes are starting with or without the side stand down, i would have it checked for a problem. I had thought about putting a cam, and big bore kit on my grom for more mph, but didn't have the heart to trash a brand new very dependable little bike, not to mention you have to have a tuner on the motor for fuel management, and if it does not set the fuel mixture properly, you could grenade the motor. Thats why im looking for another new small bike from the factory that has more top end of around 75-80 mph, along with the high perf cam, and 4 valve head, and leave my grom the way it is, but i really think these fellas did an amazing job of comparing these to bikes, keep up the excellent vids.

    It be more relevant to compare the TNT with the Grom, not the Honda msx. Had the actual Honda Grom (abs) for 22 months now, as a second hand bike, which was way before the video was made. The fuel consumption (didn't have a TNT) and amount of service centers Honda have made the decision easy

    OK, the Benelli is a Grom clone just like the various Vaders. The problem I see most about the clones are poor quality control issues (welding, cheap metal parts, poor quality bolts etc) and the need to substitute Honda parts into the clone to make it more reliable. So, is the Benelli quality closer to the Vader clones or closer to the Grom quality?

    I had new 1st n 2nd gen groms in the UK, i bought a tnt 125 and it was evenly matched but the benelli beat it on steep hills, for the money the tnt has so many good points over the Honda but new plugs and leads make a difference on the 1st gen models, not ridden the newer ones but for the money the Honda had crappy tires, seat and suspension so that bumped the cost of improving it from new much more money so the tnt is a no brainer unless you want to mod it heavily as the motor is hard to tune even with a big bore kit, but can fit bigger motors if you have the skills.
