Honda Grom Engine Swap: Twice the Engine for Twice the Price - CBR 250cc / 300cc How-To

  • The Honda Grom is fun, but it can be made more fun with one of the easiest engine swaps you can do. I take one Grom, one CBR250R, some reasonably priced parts, and with only basic hand tools and a weekend, make the Grom a way better motorcycle.
Most of this is super easy and you don’t need to fabricate anything.
There are a handful of videos on this swap, but a lot of them are long-winded tear-downs lacking detailed information, followed by wheelies. If you’d rather do wheelies than watch wheelies, then watch this video and do it yourself!

You want a 2015 or younger street triple 675 r. It's awesome it has abs from that point, brakes can still make you flip. 5l/100km. 0-100 3.8seconds. Only use one finger for braking. 4500-6500euro 10-20000km used.

Motorycles is the dark side. But my life would suck without 2 wheels. Go take a safety riding course then buy whatever bike you want. Recommend a Yamaha R3 or another 300... Biggest I'd get as a noob would be a GSXR600. I started on a Ninja 650 then got 3 GSXR600, R3. Grom, Hypermotard 1100... Now on a Z1000. But want a CBGrom300RR!!!

  • @ProDigit80

For fuel Air ratio adjustment, I used a resistor in between the O2 exhaust sensor and the unit.
Though the ECU reads the signal digitally, it still enriches the mixture to the point where 1kOhms resistor gets black exhaust soot.
But you can feel what setting works best. It's a bit of give and take. Too high of a resistor (I tried with a 1kOhms pot) and the top end suffers, but the bottom will ride great. Too low, and the bottom end suffers.
So a mixture (I think I used a 250Ohms resistor, but don't quote me on that).

@@jasonb6570 Okay, if it works it works. My observations are from seeing three different guys kill the motors riding extended wheelies on pit bikes. If this one works out, cool. But I’d be feeling spooky.

The best way to lower the cost of a project is to save the Old Parts ( drive Chain ) And sell them later.
Why damage and Waste things ?
That you can recoup some cash from .....
    Work smart lower costs .

  • @ianstradian
    @ianstradian 4 года назад +3

When I was a teenager a few friends and I put a Yamaha 650 engine on a go cart frame....
After a few steps forward and a few steps back we had a ignorant amount of speed in a flimsy frame less than 3 inches from the asphalt.
It was fast, way too fast.
Yes we all maxed the thing out on our neighborhood streets, and no one got hurt...
I think we lost interest in it when we all got real cars or motorcycles.

You can use a small fabric mesh over the intake or pantyhose I think is a common thing for sandy environments. Otherwise you can make a metal mesh dome and cover that as well to keep it from getting sucked in while still providing good airflow.
