The diode prevents people from hot-wiring your ignition live. The ECU will only accept the (time to perform) signal when it sees the resistance of that diode. Remember this if you ever replace the keys and locks on bikes.
The diode is also present on older bikes with carburetors and points ignition and no ECU to speak of though. It can usually be removed with some creative wiring if you don't mind not having a clutch interlock for the starter. Sounds like it already served a purpose and then used to serve an additional security function since that's just a good idea when you have an ECU onboard. Yes. Yes he will.
@@SchoolforHackers There are several build threads and reports of guys putting thousands of miles on after a 300 swap, with no damage to the engine.
@@jasonb6570 Okay, if it works it works. My observations are from seeing three different guys kill the motors riding extended wheelies on pit bikes. If this one works out, cool. But I’d be feeling spooky.
My coworker has a 250 swapped grom, he loves it
Hahahahaha it sounds like it’s under water lol
Very detailed and clear video. I dont own a grom, but sort of wish I did after watching this video. I also love half baked questionable automotive ideas. You earned yourself a new sub my man.
the question is, wouldn't it be easyer to fix the CBR and ride that?
Of course it would be easier. Where's the fun in that? With that mindset, why would anyone ever swap a more powerful engine into ANY vehicle?
From what I understand the diode is for the hiss system (honda integrated safety system) the diode converts 12v from the battery to 9v to power your ecu.
I’m so sorry you live in California.😞
and I'm sorry you don't
I have a 1990 ysr50 with a 2010 ninja 250 engine the pull is incredible and worth it.
Did it half drunk, huh? You just moved up in my RUclips channel priority. My I ask, what were you drinking?
I did the 420 accelerator kit on my r6 with many many mods. 420 chain is plenty strong and will give you more torc an power to the ground

LOL! That's awesome! I'd never even heard of a Grom before. I'm not a real fan of four stroke singles, but they're OK so long as they have a decent muffler. My mind was thinking two stroke 350 twin out of a Yamaha Banshee, but that may be a wee bit of overkill lol.
wow a creator who doesnt stall a build into 24 different videos, nice.
The pink wire out of the ignition switch needs to see 5vdc to the ECM so you can't just cut wires twist them together and steel the bike. It's usually not even in the wiring diagram.
Haven’t even bought a Grom yet and looking to do a swap. I can’t leave anything alone. Lol.
I can't believe past matt finished a project in one video, can you believe that guy.
I like your videos. You're knowledgeable and you share in such a way that the information is usable!
Dunno why I'm watching this. i own an MT07 and ive bought a CBR650R that im picking up on Saturday but I cant stop watching this 😭
