Bought my 2023 Monkey in June and have 700 miles and find it really versatile. Been ridding since I was 16 and now 80 and have stepped down from the heavy bikes. Hi - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I've done 11000 miles on my 2020 yellow 4 speed Monkey. I was going to change to a 5 speed but am glad I didn't. First gear is high so is ideal on tarmac as you're in top gear quicker. However, green laning is difficult as clutch slipping in first is necessary so I don't take it off the tarmac anymore. It's important to realise that the two top gears in both versions produce virtually identical speeds at max power so the 5 speed isn't any faster.
