    Hi - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I have a yellow 2020 4 speed Monkey with 12500 miles up. I had a 25 litre top box fitted and my carrier cracked so I'm intrigued as to what carriers you have that can take that weight. Also, the Monkey payload is 105kg so you must be featherweights! I only use E5 fuel with stabiliser added and have averaged 153mpg to date. I change the oil every 1000 miles and swap over chains that are then cleaned and boiled in grease. I also run a colder plug for long runs when Monkey does get hot buzzing around the West Donegal hills.

      Hi pal cheers for the comment. Glad you’re a fellow monkey rider too! I made the rack on the bikes, happy to share all the info on it if you message us on are Facebook page teamcarbonair. There was a recall for the racks on the 4 speeds. We both weigh about 85 to 90kg. E5 stay alive haha. Nice to hear your on the servicing it is a must!

    How top heavy and tippy are those Monkeys like that. I have a Monkey and put a rack and top box on it and it made it feel really unstable at low speeds. Looks like that doesn't bother you two. So, going to use saddle bags and keep the weight down low. Will try that and put the rack and top box back on. It may be just me as I am 80 now.

    Stunning little bikes. I live in Thailand. They are so much cheaper here. I just wish they were 150cc and had 14'' wheels. Do they feel stable enough? Your bikes sound so good. I like the bars. Can you see the speedo? Looks dull.
    Good video. Nick

    • @carbonairpitbikes
      @carbonairpitbikes  3 месяца назад

      Hi nick, thanks for the comment! New in uk they range from £3300 -£4k. There all 125cc but the 4 speed have a big bore option of 149cc 164cc 181cc. The 5 speed have a big bore option of 145cc. The wheels for a monkey bikes 12” wheels are big! Old monkeys range from 6” 8” 10” wheels so 12” look big to me. The bikes feel great to ride once the suspension is up graded and some good grippy tyres are done. I also changed the bars just didn’t like the stock ones at all. Yes the Speedo is easy to read think it’s just the camera that struggled to see it in the walk round video we done. Glad you like the video. Cheers CA

Realistic touring speed is a GPS 50mph but preferably 45 to 50 - its geared for exactly 60mph in top gear at max power. I've had it up to an indicated 67mph but no way can you maintain anywhere near that. If you want to go faster you'd better buy a bigger bike. The 5 speed model is also geared exactly the same in top as the 4 speed, despite comments to the contrary on RUclips.

I frequently do 150 mile trips and arrive exhilerated with little discomfort. I cruise at 2/3 to 3/4 throttle at speeds ranging between GPS 40 & 50 mph depending on winds and inclines.
