    I had 36 Hondas since 1979
    I own my Honda Monkey 125 in pearl nebula red /ross white since 23rd April.
    The seating comfort is unique!
    The LED headlight is good, but the light output could be better.
    The LCD tachometer is very badly readable in sunlight,
    but that is already known.
    The sound I find - even with the original exhaust - great,
    so I leave the original exhaust on the vehicle.
    The ABS and the "rollover detection" work perfectly.
    The gear works for me "not" hooking ".
    The alarm system and the Answer-function are also a nice gimmick.
    All in all: I am very satisfied and love my Honda Monkey.
    Greetings from Germany

    ive had me banana yellow monkey for a year now and its a blast! it does gain power while its braking in. i weigh about 170 and am 5' 8" and the posture is perfect. nothing cramping about it. i actually tippee toe at a stop it sits nice and high. the seat is thee most comfy seat in the world. i love the soft suspension and 4" of travel is awesome. it really soaks up bumps very well esp considering its size and weight! 240 lbs! always feels very stable to me, leans right over super easy. i love it and mines almost entirely stock it comes from the factory just about perfect imho. the vast amount of owners love it. get one!

    I must also say that the quality of the bike is way better than normal. The chrome is spotless, so if you enjoy polishing and perfection then it is for you.
    John5XR has found that off road landings can jolt the headlamp rim loose, and I have noticed where the engine cover clutch spring touches the paint on the cover, the spring needs a tiny bit of wire insulation plastic or heat shrink tube slid over it to protect the paint!
    Whoever came up with the idea of sticking sensors each side of the barrel and covering them with weird half arsed protection covers needs shooting, but that’s technology for you!

    I prefer the look and quiet sound of the original Honda exhaust on the Monkey.
    I live in Thailand and bought a new Honda Monkey (no ABS) and it is only £2,375 on the road there.
    Fun bike for popping to the city 6 miles away and driving to the farm and market.
    Great in the city for filtering through traffic.
    Seat is very soft and comfortable.
    The Honda Monkey is actually manufactured in Thailand as are all Honda's up to and including the 750cc bikes.

    I have 2022 model banana yellow and I love this little machine, 2L/100km fuel consumption beats any EVs. I got small windshield on front which lifts air flow away from my chest, so cruising speed without stressing the engine is nearly 100km/hour. I am 75kg. Thanks for a good presentation video, it gave honest picture of Ape machine. I visited in Maidstone several years ago and found model car collectors swap meet to buy some british diecast cars, gorgi toys mainly. Better selection than in here Australia, where I live now. Lovely little town.

    52 years old never had a bike but mid life crisis or not I’m on the case of getting the monkey for 10 years of fun whilst I can . Can’t wait !!!

  • @rogercrier
    @rogercrier 5 лет назад +10

    I’ve done 800 miles on mine, so far
    Did 250 miles in one day, 2X125 mile non stop runs! Sore lower back, but not crippled, so the seat is good.
    For city commuting and as a useful run about, the new cub gives much better weather protection and is arguably less likely to get nicked, but the monkey does attract positive attention from normal peeps, as it is not intimidating in any way!!! You are not classed by the public as a boy racer, or a hells angel, so you must be normal, well as normal as an ancient bloke on a tiny yellow bike can be anyway!
    If it is dark, the lights are excellent, but if it is wet you will have to stop regularly to clean the road grime off the headlamp, as the front mudguard is just there to look very nice and shiny, which was the whole idea when they designed it.
    Fantastic fun, you will keep it as a forever bike as it takes up hardly any room, so treat it well, and use loads of that high ferlutin purple anti corrosion stuff they sell nowadays to make sure it won’t fester. Do inside all connectors, under all the bolt heads and washers, and even put some on the staples that upholster the seat, as they go rusty virtually instantly!!
    Like someone said, just get one
    Oh, and driven flat out, as you do, it gets about 75 mpg

    Great little machine. I bought it in black and it is such a joy to ride. Hey, that guy at 7:50 who is standing on the left side of the street seems to have very pale actually almost white hands (probably gloves) and some kind of an imageless face which is a bit spooky... :-D. Nice vid mate. Bought my monkey a few months ago. My first bike and I love it! I’m 47. Serious question. . . Is it normal to ride around during the day with full beam on?! Reason I ask is a few videos I’ve seen have had it on. Full beam as in the blue light on. I live in Bournemouth, the monkey is great for just cruising around town

    • @TommyBarnezTV
      @TommyBarnezTV  5 лет назад +3

      Thanks!
      Personally I wouldn't ride around with full beam on intentionally. Not sure if I had on during this video but if it was it was an accident on my part. I've ridden with high beam around traffic before but only when my normal bulb has gone and I am en route to get it changed.

      Its 125cc air-cooled engine delivers a earth shattering 9 horsepower, and fuel efficiency comes in at a staggering 157 MPG; curb weight with a full tank of fuel etc comes in at only 235 lbs. The Honda Monkey bike is perhaps most widely known as a groovy icon of the 1970s, but it first saw the light of day in 1961.
      Just over 1 gallon tank. Gets 180miles per tank.

    Last year after I'd passed my CBT these were available. I'm sure they're fun, and I wouldn't mind a test ride, but I'm glad I got a Honda CB125R instead. That cost only a fraction more, had a nice height seat (820mm), 13BHP and did about 120MPG. I'm sure it's well built , well because it's an Honda, and I can understand buying the Monkey bike for people of shorter stature or for strappng to the back of a camper van when going on holiday, but not for me !

Actually something over 60 miles on the top speed seems to me quite fine for such small bike, not sure if its save to ride this bike like 80 mile per hour if possible thanks modification. Perhaps modification can boost acceleration but not sure if there is point to do it. What do you think?

      @TommyBarnezTV  5 лет назад

      Nah, tyres are tiny. Doesnt feel good at high speed. I got it to just over 70mph and certainly felt fast enough for the bike. The bikes happy place is probably up to 50mph.
