The fact that people leave but constantly think about Mabinogi or come back to it, really demonstrates how impactful this game was on our lives. I hope it sticks around forever. There are many slow days, but I like to lounge around, run random stuff, talk to random people, change outfits, etc. So many ways to pass time :) I think it's overwhelming when people come back to "beat the game" or speedrun it and then complain. I enjoy taking my time and just doing whatever because I can.
"The game has become too bloated and grindy". Could've told you that six years ago when I tried and dropped it. Frankly, people just sorta forget what an online experience is suppose to be about rather than actually actively explore it or enjoy it to any sort of degree.
i really like campfire outside the city with random people sharing bread.watching the moons while someone is killing the fox. my favorite book was the one told about white deer.but forget the title.😢
I just came back, i decided to play a new character.. I am enjoying the feeling of being lost in an MMO again 😅 idk what I am doing but there's a weird fun and nostalgic feeling in that. I don't plan to go as hardcore as I did once perhaps, but it may be fun to poke and explore again in a world that is strange.. yet vaguely familiar..
Nowadays, everyone is just AFK. It seems to be such a solo experience everytime I play, even if I'm out looking for friends, everyone is either AFK or just... not ready to get into gameplay. It's like everyone's already end-game, with their only purpose being to AFK for some event so they can get some gachapon ticket. I miss the days when we were a family. Literally.
@@The_RealH3R0 I'm sure there's definitely a few good guilds and groups out there, I'm just speaking from a short play experience the last time that I tried to re-play mabinogi. I had a much harder time finding active players, when beforehand, even someone who was AFK would eventually respond to your chat messages. Generally, things seem like a ghost town to me, but I hope things have gotten better since then
Mabinogi is two games built on top of each other. 90% of it is the ruins of the game it started as. Some things like visuals and quality of life have gone up, but it went from a craft your own character and find and hunt your weapons and materials and outfits to make the character you want to now everyone is everything, skills and AP barely matter and now it's not effort -> slow steady progress to an RNG fractal that revolves around gear and money and gacha. Where you run things to get money to buy the things you need because you can't farm them yourself in 100 lifetimes. I play it more for the game it was and the memories and people it brought me than for what it is now
I’ve been around since Generation 6 all the way back in 09, been a giant the whole time. I’m 28 now lol. I come back off and on, and recently I’ve been trying to push to max elemental knight, but im mainly a solo player these days. No guild, barren friends list. A far cry from the days where I used to bard a lot. I hope I can replace the friends I’ve lost with time, and hopefully new faces show on the scene to replace those we’ve lost. But we still remember the memories. Fun trivia: yall remember when windmill used to take your hp?
God I hated that windmill. I had other experiences , like the farmlands were free for every player. Or people used campfire just because it was fun. Or we had to use magic to pass dunbarton because hackers (I played Europe)
One minute in and bro just casually read my mind. Like legit. I tried Mabinogi out 1,5 years ago, played it for 2 months and then left cuz of university, but it keeps coming to my mind at least once a week and i always end up thinking about some most simple yet very pleasant moments. Namely harvesting wheat, getting that"Tu Dun Tin" xylophone sound upon success and witnessing my Elf girl being all "Yay" and happy. I spent unholy amount of time fishing, chopping wood, crafting bows, shearing sheeps, cooking, collecting eggs, milking cows etc. because it felt good, it felt warm. Screw the dungeons, i leveled up my combat skills on foxes who were attacking chickens. No other game i've ever played has ever managed to make a trivial success so warm. If a game can make you feel joy from digging up potatoes you know you are playing a masterpiece and that is Mabinogi for me
Whenever I come back to this game, I usually start a new character, get some talents to rank 1, and get to g3 solo. Then get hard stuck because to this day I still don't know how to obtain items and upgrades in a natural character progression sense. Still come back every few years or so for that sweet nostalgia. My journey to get compose r1 with no guide is still one of my favorite memories bby interacting with a lot of cool folk. Fun times.
I still play :O, part of a fairly active guild as well. End game content is still added and challenged, and they're constantly adding new and fun stuff to play with. Currently grinding out my moonlight island, and the new battle astrology skill. I do miss the old social aspect of it, when you'd run across a circle of people sitting around a campfire haha. Also, they're working on an engine remake and screenshots look amazing.
I've been around since mabinogi's initial launch. I love the game to this day and still play it. Edit: Needing a party to do alby dungeon. BOY THAT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES
Mabi was such an adventure from the start. As time passed I literally watched the game turn into something totally different, after the combat changes it turned into just spamming the strongest skills, class variety went out the window
recently re-tried the game and was able to rope some friends in main complaints; UI is fixed and clunky (f1-f12 row is kinda rough) story and quests to follow are confusing and nonsensical without someone guiding (even blaanid's quests is still kinda a chore) feature bloat and a rapid access to all of it quickly overwhelmed progression and lacking sense of achievement main compliments; gameplay actually felt decent past clunky controls skills felt thematic within classes idk if ue5 eternity will address any of that but swimming will be cool
I logged into my old account and saw they moved all my Tarlach Characters and renamed them “Translation+Tarlach” Can’t remember my main account info anymore sadly. Was a great game at the time. Combat system rocked.
I'm new to Mabi, and I gotta say, I really wish I'd played it sooner. The community is so amazing, and I log in practically every day to see the new friends I've made and explore the new content I've unlocked.
Mabi's definitely had a lifelong history of being niche and unique with no competition to challenge that niche, because no other game has a combat system like this. Unfortunately though, with the end game content, it is HEAVILY reliant on overpowered metas, crazy high pierce, or just getting whatever the game's best tier is that's not the Soluna Blade. I do hope going forward they find a way to change up the meta and stop being so reliant on DPS requirements. Even for me now, it feels like Glenn HM is the only dungeon currently where you not only need high DPS, but reliance on mechanical knowledge as well. Content now is just too easily burstable with Diviner and takes all skill out of the game. Even as an EK, I don't feel like the game is mechanically challenging enough the way old school mabi used to be. Obviously Nexon needs to make their money but the pay to win aspect, alongside the abysmal drop rates of end game gear hurts the game. It doesn't reward the player enough for all the time they sink in. Even with Blaanid, it hurts newer players combat skills because it doesn't teach them how to fend for themselves when they fight things that they can't just kill in a matter of seconds. I'm hoping this changes some day because Mabi's potential honestly has yet to be unlocked.
Truly the most unique mmorpg out there with the most freedom in everything especially customization, the amount of fashion is insane and the dye system is something that is never seen in any other game, my friend told me they were happy and excited to hear that FFXIV was getting a second dye slot and I was like... Mabi has 6 now for most outfits lol... I'm hoping the UE update will bring hundreds of thousands to experience this amazing game!
I actually didn't get very far at all back in the day, but I just started up again recently and I've been loving it. I just transcribed the Poltergeist theme into a score page and can't wait to make my own. This game is hella cool
I'd like to know more about what kind of gear to look out for, or if it's more of something I can just make good through upgrades and enchanting. I still haven't done a lot of main quests, just blaanids stuff and I'm getting lots of good stuff from that, but it feels like I'm being rushed. Just found out today I gotta lease my homestead house after dropping almost a mil on fine leather lmao. Money ain't shit in this game imo though. 1 commerce run is 30k easy
I tried so many MMOs, enjoyed them alot and spent over 8k hours in FFXIV but none of them, literally none of them feel like a home to me like Mabinogi, none of them give me a feeling of longing, none of them give me a feeling of like I really belong in that world. It's strange, despite that fact how much I hate this game so much sometime, telling myself that this game is a big hot garbage compared to others, it has become a part of me that I can't easily let go.
Honestly, it's just pretty lonely if your old friend group has vanished or no longer plays. I feel distant due to EU times, and being 30 now. I love the game, always have done since it first released in NA (and I had to use a proxy to play, no eu's allowed :')) I do honestly hope the future IS bright for mabinogi though, it would be such a shame in the MMO space to lose it.
sad to say I lost my account in the black hat hack back in 2011 I would love to try to get back into the game but I feel like I'm going to have to restart feels like I'm going to have to put in a ginormous amount of time and it's hard when you have to do it alone
I played this game in the past and came back, only to leave again. What turned me off eventually is the P2P and P2W systems. They try to market themselves as a F2P or a gacha game but it ends up being far more expensive once you reach a certain point in the game to progress, to the point it stops feeling fun like a game and more like another job. Someone introduced to me extra equipment slots, and it was obtainable as a paid option to get more talents into gameplay. I thought it was cool idea. After buying it, I realized you have to continue buying VIP every month on top of that to keep something I bought active? What kind of marketing tactic is this... Then there's the gacha system. Unlike other mobile gachas with PC support, this one doesn't offer any way to gain that kind of currency for free players and there's no pity/spark system either. You can only buy it from other players, assuming they're willing to sell it and they sell it at a premium. Everything's so marked up in price. Progression or event obtainability is unrealistic. It's not leaving me any good impressions of a gacha game. Drop rates are abysmal and mostly a waste of time trying to farm an item drop. The last thing that kept me in the game was socializing with friends, but they pretty much are all AFK nowadays. AFK events don't help and all these other systems and lack of new battle content doesn't help. It feels too much like a single player gacha game with really bad monetization strategies. I just play Hoyo games now if I want to play a single player gacha game.
Yeah, it’s all AFKers now. I can’t say that P2W has changed much, though. Rebirth, the most important progression mechanic, was subscription only before 2009. After that, it changed to being free, but slow. If you weren’t subscribed, you were getting left in the dust, just there to cook and play music (me) 😆
Game isnt dead but man is it hard to get a party for a tech duinn mission on normal difficulty Being eu based doesnt help either Cant stop playing tho Addicting ass game
@@johnli.notlee problem with that is I think you need to run normals for better passes, no? atleast, you did before. I havent played Mabi in quite awhile.
I've started back in 2012 after years of seeing the game on anime MMO lists and turning it down because of how it looked, then one day a friend I was chatting with mentioned how he'd heard about the uniqueness of its combat system. Tired and disillusioned with all the tab-target clones I kept running into, I finally gave it a try and I was immediately blown away. It didn't look amazing, sure, but the charm and attention to detail were unmatched and the detailed textures made it feel lived in, something only Ragnarok Online had managed to do for me until then. Since then I've met many great friends (and even a romantic partner for a couple years who I'm still friends with), I've settled into close-knit guilds and watched them die out, and moved servers before Alexina was finally merged too. It has been a wild ride and one that always brings real tears to my eyes. Even though I also tend to take long breaks or burn out, not once in my heart have I ever wanted to leave for good. I fear losing this game like I fear losing a home. So there is something incredibly heartwarming about seeing its devs work hard to modernize it and even give it an engine upgrade when most others would have moved on and started new projects with their money, time and resources. Not only that but they're being very careful to respect all the little things that give the game its feel and identity, rather than trying to make it look like a different game altogether or pushing out a soulless sequel that dies out before it's even out of beta. I'm so thankful that this game is, to them, not a mere source of cash to discard someday but a world worth preserving and pouring great care into for as long as possible. And I can't wait for Eternity to go live and breathe new life into this dear home of mine.
when i fully stopped 8 years ago, my feelings were "there oughta to be more non-Daily mid-game level content that's not soloable" In my early and middle years of mabi, my favorite experiences were built up through lower-power activities like Generation RP dungeons with friends, afk music, activities to help each other research / unlock / craft / rank skills, working towards Royal Alchemy and then helping others, grinding an attainable amount of money to get that item from someone else In my last years of mabi, You join a guild and it's either a Discord VC social guild of people who all know each other way more than they know you, or a hardcore tech-duinn guild that expects you to read guides on content you're not built for, by not having High-Level crafted items, precise enchants/reforges/builds, or just by not having the playstyle conducive towards endgame activities. And as a grownup, some days even doing just the Daily Shadow Missions and Saga missions were monotonous and slow and one-shotty, which ironically felt exhausting. Blannid didn't help, because i felt like i was getting shot into endgame without experiencing most of the midgame.
I’m at new player, only two months in, and I love Mabinogi. I’m sorry for those who miss their lost friends, but maybe we can make new ones. I hope so. There’s a sweetness and sincerity to this world and I hope people can feel that again, despite the past. I’m going to try to do my best in Mabinogi.
I was a beta tester for Mabinogi's europe servers when it came out, I was pretty much ousted from playing the game after the servers closed down, as the US (now "Global") servers were and still are laggy AF for me to the point of the game being unplayable. MabiPro came in a clutch but it just can't get me to feel the initial fun I had with the game which is also feeling very clunky by todays standards. (Also can't even "inherit" my "The Beta Tester" title which was bling points on the EU server). I really wish that their transfer to unreal engine whenever that will happen will revive the game. Either way, Mabinogi and Maplestory will always be my top MMORPGs. at least I have a Nao figurine to remind me of the game from time to time.
UE 5 Will not solve issues with the base content of the game, it will be even worse, a game born in 2003 requiring machines even more powerful to run is just insane, also i do not wish for new mabi being in EU again with CrapForge, no thank you.
I recently got a friend of mine into Mabi after talking about it for a year but being hesitant to really get them on. They remark at a certain charm and uniqueness despite the jank. There is a lot of me giving them the history of things used to be, and how it has shaped the current game. Almost every major thing I get excited about in regards to things being better now had been made in the last 3 years with the current leadership. They are looking forward greatly to Unreal overhauling the visuals (and hopefully some of the jank too), but have enjoyed the start thus far. They cleared chapter 1 in their first 3 days playing ahahahaha so needless to say they're hooked. I've warned them about the gear grind in the endgame being a slog i you don't spend tremendous amounts of money, but having framed the game as a journey like runescape helped ease them into the mindset of how to approach the many systems that have been layered onto the base game. I do hope with Eternity they strip away some of the chores that existed to pad the "endgame" but never or barely revisited to make catchup faster. Looking at renown, Divinity exp, Stardust, etc.
I just returned to the game. I tried joining an active guild and was told I couldn't join because I would be left out because of my rebirth level. I was not at the true endgame.
Mabi used to be a massive family. I joined in G9, but that was before GHOST guild and all the duping items and crashing servers happened. After that, a lot of players left and it was sparse. Embrie was my name on there. Ruairi server.
I'm sure the ranking up is better than it was, but it's still pretty disappointing how quick you rank up some skills, recent event required me to get the refining skill and I maxed it in less than 20 minutes, mining took me much less than a day. At least the advancement system give something more to do after rank 1, though the DAN 3 healing advancement test didn't so much test how well I keep someone alive, but how masochistic of a heal I can be and edge the person's heal bar as low as possible without it hitting 0. Seriously that test is messed up when attacks do damage as soon as the animation starts, but only shows the player after the animation ends (and the next attack starts).
As a old player and coming back like last week the game has a lot of problems coming back. #1 problem is how fast you advance in the game. They really need to incorporate the blaanid quest with the story when they finally let you do that you are way too strong at that point. They should've incorporate it together better. Also old mabinogi was pay to play the story. If you didn't drop any money you COULD NOT play the story. This killed a ton of new players. Mabinogi really needs to reconstruct everything.
I love Mabinogi, and I'm so excited for the big update. If there's a gripe that I have, it's not only that endgame content is really intimidating/hard, but it doesn't feel rewarding per clear. As an example I'd really like to upgrade my sword to a Nightbringer Assault, I'd have to learn Crom Bas and run it no less than 20 times, and that's assuming the required material dropped every time, which I don't think is the case. Otherwise, it's not much of a stretch to say that Mabinogi is a home to me. And even if I weren't actively playing it at the time (Life gets in the way sometimes) I would be devastated if it met an EoS.
I have a love hate relationship with the Unreal update announcement. I gate it for the simple fact Mabinogi looks great as is. They're giving in to the graphic snobs. But then again, if it does get new players because it it, then. Ehhh.
To this day mabinogi is still the mmorpg I enjoyed the most with the skill lvl system and all that, i've even been waiting for that mobile version that they showed off before... I miss those days man
When nexom announced mabi unreal they also announced that they were going to keep mabinogi around another 30, 40 even 50 years. Which is insane since no games especially mmos do that. I may not log in like i used too but qhen i do there are still some friends on. We just never really log out mentally do we? Ff14 does a lot of things i wish mab did. Mab does a lot of things i wish ff14 did. Mabi has always really been ahead on ideas when it came to mmos in my opinion. Unpopular opinion i think the auction house actually ruined the game. Belvast use to be a second Dunbarton on alexina. I could gab about the past all day. Anyway amazing video! 7hanks = )
Man I used to play this game. Loved combining class moves and pistol whipping enemies. Maybe once they do the unreal engine update Ill try it again. Im burned out on ESO.
Stopped playing 7 years ago and recently got back to it. I stopped for personal reasons and my original account got lost due to the old login system... Driving me nuts! Started my new account and its fun but lonely... A lot of afks and people rarely talk now. I'm surprised I'm doing things on my own compared to my original account. I can solo almost everything with my new account. I hope Mabi stays strong because Mmorpgs aren't like this anymore. Fighting enemies, pvp, PPE, party dungeons, raids, missions, amazing outfits, life skills (cooking, blacksmithing, Tailor, Carpenter, etc..) and endless events and content. The only thing i hate is the gacha system. The chances get lower and lower in most games nowadays that it forces you to spend money to try again.
I had a full active guild that all played throughout the day randomly, felt like a brotherhood. I Watch GOOD NIGHT WORLD on Netflix and just brought back so many memories
Mabinogi closed beta and the year following release was insane. Imo Runescape is the best MMO ever made by Mabinogi CB and Fantasy Earth Zero were on a category of their own.
Hey H3R0 Buddy,Can you Please do a No Commentary Walkthrough of Amber Isle and Please do at Least All Parts of the Amber Isle Walkthrough of 50 Minutes Each
Hm, It's weird, i don't have many memories as i was growing with mabinogi. Maybe one buddy or so, but i always played solo, but i guess that's why i never sticked to it, although i always play from time to time
I actually miss the grind of leveling skills and slowly getting stronger XD now that im late game with close to nothing to rank up the game grew stale i would log on only for girg raids and log off,i had like 30k cumulative level and phantasm and vet dungeons still seem so impossible to clear unless you're with a groupi might come back and try out the dark magician arcana tho.. :O
The updates towards QOL stuff and various things like that has made the game a lot more approchable on many fronts. theres still 1 old and 2 new that they introduced that sadly doesnt make it worth going from midgame to endgame transition, its outright just doesnt feel good. the old one is the erg system, this thing is so obserdly backloaded that in alchs and puppets case of anythng reasonable as main dmg output requires S50. alch specifically increases its water cannon dmg by lieterally over 4x from S45 to S50, with flameburst being a bit different, but is at least 2x since before chain cylinder break point goes from 1 not being fully charge to the other being full charged, that transitions into always being full charged. the tick rate of flameburst is what makes it even stronger at that. i dont mind some damage being locked by the high RNG system of erg, but its all or nothing on any investment with the system currently for far to many skill sets. the 2 new ones that they introduced is a compounding one. the first one is limited tech missions per char, limits arnt bad, but for a MMO enviroment, ive only ever seen it valid on the hardest newest content. but for tech missions, this isnt even the highest tier weapon or armor in the game. it takes more then a month of runs that you can easily cap out in 1 day for each week reset to be able to get enough mats for 1 weapon/armor...on solo. which leads me into the second part, the "Re:Fine" update. this bloody update made all the rare drops(which is its own pool and under normal circumstances only drop once per run regardless of play count) divide the drop rate amung all the players. so the devs plan of being able to craft one of these weapons/armor per month actually took at minimum 4x longer in tech missions case, and was spread across many layers of content like crom bas, our highest tier weapon content. speaking of crom bas, the players actually calculated the actual drop change the refine system was doing and had thousands of actual runs showing that the drop rate for these rare mats got decreased by a full party by 5.2x, so it lieterally takes a entire half a year of limited runs per week content to make 1, only 1 weapon. they have removed this from crom bas...but only crom bas. now if only they would bloody do it with everything else because how unhealthy it is. because of the combination of these 2 new things, it actually accidently forced a solo mind set in all but the hardest content. i cant even go help others with tech missions because once you hit your limit, you cant go in anymore on that char. so i cant even help people properly get up into endgame. this is why i stoped play a few months ago again, they just made tech + just so frustrating.
The Unreal Engine Update will hopefully bring new and old players back to the game. Though if it's only gonna attract folks who care about graphics it won't be for them. Atleast we don't have the Zerger community since PvP isn't really a thing
the sense of discovery is gone, there are guides and videos on everything now. Also the sense of community is lessened and in some aspects gone. A lot of it has become solo content or reduced party content. Even end game.
I think your right, the feeling of venturing to a new area and exploring it isn't there anymore. Or learning about a crazy new skill and having to grind to get it like Final Hit.
The solo and reduced party content always breaks my heart, I understand that not everyone wants to be social or wait and look for parties but content that scales with party members would be a good middle ground IMO. Mabi is at its best when played with others.
Gimping the skill progression was a bad thing, the grind needed to be reduced, but removing enemy strength requirements from skill XP makes progression very boring. Because most of the game is solo now, making player progression fun should be really important. The most difficult part of leveling skills is when you need to buy skill books.
Early Mabinogi actually wasn't monetized! There was a time restraint on rebirths, but no p2w aspects. Early days you couldn't even buy character cards or anything- the item shop didn't exist 👀
It's the pay to exist for me. In order to get strong, you need a TON of gold to upgrade your stuff. Everything is so inflated these days you basically need to spend real dollars to translate it into gold. Time has never been an issue for me, it's all about the money with stupid Nexon. Want to cook? Too bad, the ingredient you need is in a high level dungeon that you can't do. Just buy it. Too bad, prices are inflated so you can't afford it anyway. Rinse repeat.
Mabinogi isn't as social as it used to be. Players just don't start random conversations with each other anymore. I think it is partly cause of our low player population and partly cause most of the game can be played solo. Hopefully a higher player population after the merge will help a little but we need more content that pushes players to work together. Iria dungeons and Castle dungeons need some type of Veteran dungeon mode to even be relevant again, all dungeons need better drop rates, and we need a dungeon level above Veteran that would encourage players to work together. Part of the problem is our characters can just become to powerful for a lot of content which completely eliminates the need to play with other players.
You're not wrong, it is definitely a lower bar to entry for most content to the point that solonogi can be achieved with relative ease. Even still, I have random conversations with players in Dunby all the time. I don't think it's quite fair to say that's gone when it's still something I see happen often. The other factor that maybe hasn't been part of the conversation is that a lot of players have started using Discord VC with their guilds or friends, so even if we don't see it those conversations are still happening.
Ah shoot, I thought you may have been the legend that carried a bunch of us noobs through Maiz all those years (14??) ago for falcon lol. Great video all the same!!
I want to play the game... Well i know this game due played on mobile sea server... And yeah... That mobile sea server already long time end of service... And I can't play current pc due regional stuff --" i wish i know any road to play this game....
They REALLY need to remove the regional restriction. I moved locations since I first made my account and can't even play with a VPN. I'm locked out until I go back to country I made my account in. They need to remove this.
I played since beta, I quit because of reforges and pets that single-handedly ruined pvp. Mabinogi was always pay-to-win but F2P could stand against the whales if they were skilled enough. That changed with reforges, when a funded player could do 20x more damage than a free one. The pvp scene died with the introduction of pets that did aoe damage when summoned, permanently stun locking everyone. Nexon never gave a shit about pvp and did basically nothing to balance it or give it meaningful rewards. Elf mounted archery zerg was super boring in the guild war. I'd still be playing to this day if pvp was still fun, or if the gap between skill and money spent wasn't a canyon.
Id also like to mention the worse than miserable drop rates. Dawnblade literally 1 in 1 million chance and ruin tier weapons taking many multiple months or a year. The monetization has improved but its the only way to feel any progress. I will come back... but i need atleast fun drop rates, more social platform with extremely less focus on gear...
Hop on a game, make a race for yourself, lose the race, quit. Such mentality. The concept of never catching up with all the no lifer just to trying to race against them when you have a day job and burn out from such thing is funny. Been watching you for awhile. But hearing the sentence "how the hell am i gonna catch up" is like huh? Never once I tried to out run those ppl or the contents after spending 18k hrs grinding my Uni life away on Black desert. Sure I love the game, love to see it improve but if the population start to dwindle due to the developers or publisher making a bad choice. Well it is what it is.
Honestly I don't have this mentality of trying to out race people. This video is from the POV of New players hitting the game and returning players being overwhelmed by everything in the game. The issue itself isn't how much is in Mabinogi but how they used bandaids to fix things and present to new players. The opening of the game is so jarring for new players and they often get lost and give up. With that being said another point of this video is to show how Mabinogi started, was simple and easy for everyone to play, to how they kept adding stuff without streamlining it over the years and finally onto how the new director is actively making QoL changes to help modernized the game so it can bring in people. I truly believe Mabinogi is made to be played over time and not rushed.
For me, the new content made so many spots feel empty. Back when Dunby and Ciar were the busiest spots
Fun trivia: yall remember when windmill used to take your hp?
grinding zombies in TNN with 1 hp type beat
God I hated that windmill.
I had other experiences , like the farmlands were free for every player. Or people used campfire just because it was fun. Or we had to use magic to pass dunbarton because hackers (I played Europe)
@Moonlightgirlful I was on NA. What about saving wax wings to get to ceo island before they changed moon gates?
I will never quit the game still playing till this day
I've been around since mabinogi's initial launch. I love the game to this day and still play it. Edit: Needing a party to do alby dungeon. BOY THAT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES
Mabi was such an adventure from the start. As time passed I literally watched the game turn into something totally different, after the combat changes it turned into just spamming the strongest skills, class variety went out the window
recently re-tried the game and was able to rope some friends in
main complaints;
UI is fixed and clunky (f1-f12 row is kinda rough)
story and quests to follow are confusing and nonsensical without someone guiding (even blaanid's quests is still kinda a chore)
feature bloat and a rapid access to all of it quickly overwhelmed progression and lacking sense of achievement
main compliments;
gameplay actually felt decent past clunky controls
skills felt thematic within classes
idk if ue5 eternity will address any of that but swimming will be cool
I logged into my old account and saw they moved all my Tarlach Characters and renamed them “Translation+Tarlach”
Can’t remember my main account info anymore sadly.
Was a great game at the time. Combat system rocked.
Mabinogi is the closes thing to .Hack//
Hack. dot + Dungeon Siege 2.
I'm new to Mabi, and I gotta say, I really wish I'd played it sooner. The community is so amazing, and I log in practically every day to see the new friends I've made and explore the new content I've unlocked.
It’s truly a wonderful world to be a part of 🙂
Mabi's definitely had a lifelong history of being niche and unique with no competition to challenge that niche, because no other game has a combat system like this.
Mabinogi just has that special charm, you know?
Honestly, it's just pretty lonely if your old friend group has vanished or no longer plays. I feel distant due to EU times, and being 30 now. I love the game, always have done since it first released in NA (and I had to use a proxy to play, no eu's allowed :')) I do honestly hope the future IS bright for mabinogi though, it would be such a shame in the MMO space to lose it.
sad to say I lost my account in the black hat hack back in 2011
I would love to try to get back into the game but I feel like I'm going to have to restart
feels like I'm going to have to put in a ginormous amount of time
and it's hard when you have to do it alone
If you weren’t subscribed, you were getting left in the dust, just there to cook and play music (me) 😆
Game isnt dead but man is it hard to get a party for a tech duinn mission on normal difficulty
Being eu based doesnt help either
Cant stop playing tho
Addicting ass game
I wish there was a random daily dungeon like in FF14 to encourage players to run old content :(
The issue with running Normal is that there are no real rewards :(
Yeah, normal is like practice mode for hard, and hard people solo. That's power creep.
@@The_RealH3R0 I mean, there are the Veteran dungeons
And I can't wait for Eternity to go live and breathe new life into this dear home of mine.
when i fully stopped 8 years ago, my feelings were "there oughta to be more non-Daily mid-game level content that's not soloable"
In my early and middle years of mabi, my favorite experiences were built up through lower-power activities like Generation RP dungeons with friends, afk music, activities to help each other research / unlock / craft / rank skills, working towards Royal Alchemy and then helping others, grinding an attainable amount of money to get that item from someone else
In my last years of mabi, You join a guild and it's either a Discord VC social guild of people who all know each other way more than they know you, or a hardcore tech-duinn guild that expects you to read guides on content you're not built for, by not having High-Level crafted items, precise enchants/reforges/builds, or just by not having the playstyle conducive towards endgame activities.
Mabinogi definitely has a bright future ahead!
Hopefully the launch of Unreal Engine might prompt them to open EU servers! Fingers crossed.
UE 5 Will not solve issues with the base content of the game, it will be even worse, a game born in 2003 requiring machines even more powerful to run is just insane, also i do not wish for new mabi being in EU again with CrapForge, no thank you.
Why did I stop playing?
Gacha.
Why did I keep playing?
Friends and power levels.
Friends & Power levels are the ultimate motivators for me as well lol
Bro you dont need no guild no parties whatsoever, being alone sometimes is even more enjoyable.
Mabi used to be a massive family. I joined in G9, but that was before GHOST guild and all the duping items and crashing servers happened. After that, a lot of players left and it was sparse.
Embrie was my name on there. Ruairi server.
Old Mabinogi so much better
Yeah! The only way people team up with strangers in it now is if they’re skin walking.
Got me in my feels with this one. Great video!
Thank you so much!
im and hope keep defending Erinn with all my might uwu
It truly was magical
7hanks = )
Game will always be one of my favorite MMORPGs. Played it daily for a good handful of years.
It just has a special charm that no other MMO can capture.
Man I used to play this game. Loved combining class moves and pistol whipping enemies. Maybe once they do the unreal engine update Ill try it again. Im burned out on ESO.
Dragon nest 2 is coming out, I hope we're getting Eternity before it
how the hell have i never found out about this game's existence 😢
What's the name of the song at the end? :o
It's not an old story from grandma?
Uhm, I'm not too sure! Let me try and find it out for you
I hope Mabi leaves on for our future generations so they can enjoy the goods and bads, but also so we can show them our skills and fashion ^ ^
The chances get lower and lower in most games nowadays that it forces you to spend money to try again.
just wish i wasn't as alone honestly as a new player
If I'm ever online and you need help send me a message! :)
Hey H3R0 Buddy,Can you Please do a No Commentary Walkthrough of Amber Isle and Please do at Least All Parts of the Amber Isle Walkthrough of 50 Minutes Each
Gods the feels are real
I'm still playing on the Korean server and the Unreal engine really can't come quickly enough
Hm, It's weird, i don't have many memories as i was growing with mabinogi. Maybe one buddy or so, but i always played solo, but i guess that's why i never sticked to it, although i always play from time to time
It turned into a completely different game, one I'm personally not interested in anymore, and an engine upgrade most likely won't change that.
So much memories here
The H3RO returnssss!!!
I've been here! 😂
Honestly you summed it all up pretty good as well!
Another banger from hero!
Thanks boss 🫡
Not monitized? It invented the stamina system (rebirth) found in gatch games today.
Early Mabinogi actually wasn't monetized! There was a time restraint on rebirths, but no p2w aspects. Early days you couldn't even buy character cards or anything- the item shop didn't exist 👀
@@The_RealH3R0 The time restraint was circumventable with a subscription.
Okay i'm coming back thanks lmaoo
It's the pay to exist for me. In order to get strong, you need a TON of gold to upgrade your stuff. Everything is so inflated these days you basically need to spend real dollars to translate it into gold. Time has never been an issue for me, it's all about the money with stupid Nexon. Want to cook? Too bad, the ingredient you need is in a high level dungeon that you can't do. Just buy it. Too bad, prices are inflated so you can't afford it anyway. Rinse repeat.
ah the memories
i wanna cry
Were you H3RO on Alexina by chance? Around when Iria came out specifically?
Not me! My home server is Mari 🙂

I would get stunned and poisoned walking through Dunbarton without ever being in a PvP fight 😂
The game used to be difficult with mysterious progress indicators. Now the game’s full content is in your face, easy and predictable.
10/10 right in the feels

Mabi is 10/10 Best game.
Yes
my friend shini left and the 500m hair is in rare demand. also the unreal engine update wont happen or the p2w will ruin it in record time
Id also like to mention the worse than miserable drop rates.
