#cooking #grilling #ham
Always a good idea putting a little more flavor into a good ham. Yours looked delicious. I love it when Janet says honey could you come slice the ham up. We're about ready !! Favorite part. Wait a minute....I never hear that anymore since starting this YT channel. Something went terribly wrong.
LOL!
Great musical choice. Very relaxing. Thank you.
Happy thanksgiving my friends 🙏
Next weekend is Easter. Good time to try this. We rarely glaze our ham, but the double smoke sounds great.
It really does add some nice flavor :)
I've done your other recipe for ham, and it's a family favorite now! This looks just as good!
Awesome!
Doing this on Easter Sunday!
I hope you enjoy it :)
I did this last Christmas and I'm going to make this today. Such a great recipe. Thanks Ry!
Just made that honey glazed ham on my ok joe smoker with your recipe and it is OUTSTANDING. Took it over to a friends home gathering for Thanksgiving and it was a hit (over tureky!). Thanks.
Wonderful!
RY nailed it again!!! Look forward to your vids every time. Wish I could watch more of your live feeds! Keep it up. Won’t be long and the food network will be begging for you to have a show!!!!!
Thanks!
Ry, your ham should be on the cover of a food magazine -- it turned out BEAUTIFUL!! I am thinking of smoking a ham for Easter weekend. When you were slicing it, I was drooling!! My friend, Russ Jones at Smokey Ribs BBQ, turned me on to Bird Dog Peach Whiskey a couple years ago and I love the flavor on pork and chicken...mix in the honey or maple syrup some spice rub.and it's AWESOME!! GREAT JOB RY!!! Happy Easter to you and your family.💗
Thank so much and a Happy Easter to you :)
Thank you Sir! I can always count on you for great info.
Looks great thank I will to something similar for Christmas on my Backwoods cabinet smoker.
Awesome cook 👌
Smoked one today - absolutely great! Thanks for the recipe!
Double cooking or smoking a ham is fun. That glaze looks great paired with it and the color turned out awesome Ry! Plus for some reason ham is an Easter thing.
Thanks! Yeah ham and Easter sure go together :)
Awesome video! I love to add bourbon to my recipes! I’m editing a honey bourbon salmon video as we speak! Love the content! Keep up the good work!
I'll be doing these for Easter. Think I'll use mainly cherry. Thank you for the tips!
Cherry will work great!
Drooling here. Looks so good!
Very nice! A must do for me, thanks for the video!
Thanks!
You're killing me RY, its midnight and you got my stomach growlin!
Ham is my mom's favorite meat. That one looked delicious! Very nice, Ry.
Thanks!
Great idea to smoke it again. Looks great!!
Thank you :)
Looks good. I need to try that!
Man that glaze make it picture perfect. I was actually thinking of doing a ham. But just didn't. Lol! That puts Honey Ham to shame. 😁
Mmmmm. Honey ham :)
Great looking ham. The OJ is a nice grill.
Yeah for the price it has served me well :)
Nice timing for Easter. I plan on trying this. I just picked up a new Louisiana Grills Vertical Pellet Smoker. This recipe just might be it's maiden voyage, unless I get to the ribs first. Ha! I know it won't bring the same amount of smoke as an offset smoker, but I'm willing to give this a shot using it. I also have a 13+ year old CharGriller with a smoke box attachment that I could use, but I'm interested to see how this ham will come out using the pellet smoker. Maybe 1 1/2 times smoke rather than double smoked? We shall see. Thanks for sharing, Ry.
If you've got ribs, don't make 'em wait! Smoke 'em up :)
@Cooking With Ry I hear 'ya, Ry. Smoking ribs are awesome. It's just that I'm wanting to try out that new pellet smoker to see what it can do. I'll likely do the ribs on my Weber Performer, which I also recently purchased. I just need to get my required accessories for it first. 😉
That looks really good. What a nice glaze on that ham. Cheers, Ry!
Thank you :)
Getting hungry!!!!!!!!
Looks really good Ry!
Hi Ry double smoked ham I can imagine the kind of flavor especially with that whiskey honey glaze you'll be a feast this weekend LOL...
Yeah that glaze is soooooooo good :)
Thanks for the video Ry. I have been wanting to try a ham, but thought I would need a raw ham, if I could find one. I think I'll be trying this.
I've double smoked many. It's a great way to heat them up and punch up the flavor :)
Mmmmm but that looks delicious 😋
Thank you :)
Looks awesome!!
Thanks!
awesome ham!
Thanks!
That looks heavenly Ry! If you want to send me some, that would be great! haha 😂 (I say wishfully)
If there was any left :)
Hey Ry, Another great recipe. Im Getting ready to do this today. Do you think a bourbon Molasses rub with a little Cajun heat rub would be to much along with your glaze?
Not at all! That sounds fantastic :)
Did you do a double smoke ham with a raspberry Chipotle glaze? I thought you did but I cannot find it. Maybe I am wrong. Using Blues Hog raspberry Chipotle sauce?
I don't think I've ever used Blue Hog.
@@CookingWithRy Hmmmm, ok thank you. Have to so some more looking. Your bourbon glaze looks good too.
Nicee
No Bourbon when I stumbled across this so I'm using tequila, I'll follow up with how it went
How did it turn out?
@@sprkat85 freaking awesome and the left over glaze went down nicely
YUM! I'm sure going to make this! Bourban just makes almost everything elegant, and delicious.
Could I use dark brown sugar??
Yes.
Yummy!!
Yum
What type of Ham would you recommend? Forgive my ignorance on hams, its not a meat I touch much. We want to smoke one for Xmas this year.
Honestly you can use a regular bone in ham that’s already been pre cooked. A spiral sliced one works really nice.
hey great video. I do not have an internal thermometer so what would you say from 250-300 degrees would be the time? about 3 hours or so?
thanks again
With pre-cooked ham, you're just warming it to eat comfortably. At that temp I'd say 90 minutes to 2 hours.
@@CookingWithRy ok thanks for the info
Hi Ry. Any recommendations on what rub to use for the Honey Bourbon Ham? I know you said you used a wise rub, and don’t know where to get more, but is there anything similar?
I’d try something not too savory, but with a little contrast to the sweet. What would probably work well would be any of the popular rib rubs. I’ve used things like that on ham before :)
How long was the smoke?
If I didn't mention it in the video I wasn't tracking it since I was going for an internal temperature. But usually hams like this take somewhere around 3 hours :)
What style rub would you recommend or compare to the one you used?
A slightly sweet one would be closest :)
I love your videos. Can this be made in an electric smoker?
Absolutely. I've done it in my electric before :)
I need to do this 😍
Google tells you about WISE RUB
It's not the same. This was a rub made by a small business that appears to no longer be aound.
How long did this cook take?
If I didn’t mention it in the video then I wasn’t tracking it since I was going for an internal temp. Usually it will take 2-3 hours.
@@CookingWithRy thank you trying to plan it right for after the egg hunt great video cant wait to try it
Bourbon as whisky ?
Yes.
@@CookingWithRy what's your top 5 glazes on ham.??
Hey RY.. How long did it take at that temp and how many LB's was it?
4.5 hours. I didn't wait.
That's okay. It was about 9.5 pounds :)
Didn't you glaze a ham with orange marmalade? I'm looking for that video
I might have. You can search the channel for ham videos and it should pop up.
@@CookingWithRy I have looked.I'll keep looking.
Love me some ham! And that one looks great. Thanks for sharing sir.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
You think oak wood would be ok for double smoking a ham
If you like oak, can't see why not. It wouldn't be my first choice for pork, though :)
If You have to do this, You have realy bad ham...
You must try some Polish brained, cooked and smoked ham on the bone... You dont have to do a thing with it to have a perfect taste... Maybe some pickle in the sandwitch. Or maby Italian aged ham, or that one from Austria...
You do not have to do a thing to a good ham.... Welll, maybe put it on the pan to ad it into Your scrambled eggs...
All you have to do is warm that ham up, and that's optional. Everything Ry did was just tweaks and an already great product.
This was a good ham to start with. This is just a way to bump up the flavor.
I know good hams;)) I’m from Poland;)))
Ok cool Bro
@@Dobronikus Ry is taking something, and making it even better. That's it. My mixed Slavic ancestry includes Polish, and the food is good. Twoje zdrowie!
Ok after several RUclips videos I found the one I plan to use for this Easter ! Thanks for making this.
Never tried smoking but I have an off set BBQ smoker ill use jack wood and jack honey mix for the glazing 😁
not sure if this is the rub you have harrismaynard.com/wisebbq/product/wise-barbecue-dry-rub-2-oz/
No, I've seen that one. I wish it was the same :)
About how long did the cook take?
If I didn’t mention in the video I didn’t track it since I was going by internal temperature, but generally if you plan 2-3 hours you should be good 😊
I have done this three times now and am a couple of hours in to my 4th! This is one of our favorites! You are my go-to for all my OK Joe cooking needs! Thank Ry!!!
Awesome! Hope you'll stick around now that the Joe is going to a good home to make way for the new offset :)
I will never heat up a spiral cut ham again in the oven after double smoking our last ham on the Masterbuilt Electric smoker. I used a combination cherry and apple wood for the smoke along with the honey, brown sugar & bourbon glaze. Ham was the best I’ve ever tasted.
Yeah something about that extra dose of smoke takes it to a new level :)
I didn't catch the weight of your ham? You said 4 1/2 hrs. Mine is 8 1/2 lbs.
I think it was about 9 pounds :)
Nice video!
Making this again for Christmas. We love it. Thanks for your videos
Great recipe! I used this one and made it my own by adding crushed pineapple! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Great idea!
Wow thank you sir!.
Love doing hams this way. You did a great job on that one RY.. How do you like your OK Joe offset ? Does it hold temps pretty good ? Thx
Thanks! The two mods I did which really made it a solid unit were the baffle plates and the gasket on the cook chamber door. It really runs well between 250-275 :)
@@CookingWithRy Thank you.. I'll check out your videos on that. I'm thinking about buying one.
Excellent video, looks delicious.
Hi Ry. Did a double smoked ham for New Years eve dinner, on my Kamado Joe Jr, with your glaze recipe. It was the simplest recipe I found on RUclips. It was so delicious. Usually, my wife and I trim off the fat layer but the glaze was so good we ate every bit. Thank you for the great recipe. Cheers.
If you like this ham try the recipe he uses in this video. I've done it several times now for family gatherings and have heard "this is the best ham I've ever had" several times.
ruclips.net/video/sh3mxo31BfA/видео.html
That was a good one :)
Cooking With Ry REALLY GOOD!
Ty that ham looks so good. I have only smoked one and now I want to smoke another one. We don't drink so I will leave the bourbon out of my glaze. Keep smoking!
Would you say the alcohol cooks off?
Pretty much so. The flavor is what I've noticed after :)
@@CookingWithRy Thank you! I am doing this for Christmas. Going to use cherry pellets for the smoke and Heath Riles peach rub. Should be amazing!
@@MrJJGoode Sounds fantastic! Merry Christmas :)
What if I use hickory chips?
Chips don't tend to work well on the offset smoker. They burn too quickly.
great video, thanks for a solid recipe...and hope you had a great Easter!
Ooohhhh, man. I made your glaze for my double-smoked ham yesterday. Fantastic! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Awesome! So glad you liked it :)
Any recommend rubs for a honey ham?
I'd use a rib rub on it :)
Nice great video. I do a similar ham at Christmas with cherry wood.
Cherry is great with ham. Great with all pork, actually :)
I’m not even done watching the video, but Ry introduces bourbon, he’s gonna be happy at the end!
LOL. Bourbon for the win!
Ry that is a thing of beauty! Another great job my friend.
Thank you :)
Looks great! Question: I need to double smoke the ham on Saturday and then transport it on Sunday to the family dinner; what is the best way to reheat after having double smoked the ham the day before?
Just tent with foil and a little water in a pan and reheat in the oven at 300 for approximately an hour until it reaches 140 internal :)
that ham looks great Ry, I'm thinkin I need to get myself an offset, I've always ran weber kettles, but that ham woooooooow.
It's hard to beat the smoke flavor from a stick burner :)
Great video. Thanks for the tips.
You have one of the best intros to your videos for a bbq youtuber.
Thank you :)
Looking good as always Ry! Cheer's
Cheers back atcha :)
As an Okie. I approve
I'll take that :)
Man that looks good
Thank you! I was very happy with the results :)
Cant wait to see more🍗🍖
Ham is so under played, Good twist on it...
Thank you :)
