    Thanks for actually showing the vent settings. Something that is often overlooked on these videos.

    Love this video as it shows how you deal with stuff as it starts to go a little off course. And timely as I would like to do this for Christmas. Thank you and Merry Christmas Johnnie.

    Such a great idea about using a baking pan and adding water to it! I have a pork shoulder that I need to cook and I might have to try that. Great job Sir!

    New to grilling and smoking brother, just bought my first Weber Kettle this weekend. I see this video is 2 years old, so I hope you see this. But why do you bury your oak?

    • @Viewtoagrill
      @Viewtoagrill  4 месяца назад

      I buried the oak chunks because I don’t want them to immediately burn. I feel like they catch fire slower with the lid closed.

    Good job! I'm doing a version of this tomorrow. I have a ham and two chickens to do. I'll use the Weber for the ham and the Egg for the chicken. Trying to get them to come out even timewise. Perfect instructions, thank you!

    Another great video Sir, I always do a spiral ham for holidays. I really liked how you included what went wrong during the cook. It shows that even the “Weber kettle Master” can have issues 😊 happy holidays everyone!

    I made one last year on my baby WSM. Came out great.. yours looks amazing. I will tell you as an owner of the Smoke with the WiFi bridge and a Fireboard Drive. The Fireboard software is WAAAAY better IMO. I’ve had similar issues with the ThermoWorks one. It won’t tell you when it loses a connection to a device and it won’t reconnect on my blue Dots Bluetooth on its own. It will just be static on the same temp as you stated. I have to notice the little Bluetooth icon not being on and go into the settings and tell it to reconnect. On my smoke gateway I have not had those issues. The Fireboard software though has it going on. Super easy to tap your graph and add pictures and notes for what you did at a particular time and they are all listed as dots on the graph or as a list. You can see the graphs separately or all overlayed. If you are using the fan, then you can overlay the fan duty cycle just in case you need to make a small adjustment to your fan damper to keep it from having to run too often. You can configure text message alerts or just push notifications. For me, it leaves nothing on the table.

      Hello Carlos. The Signals ending up reconnecting soon after I took that shot. Luckily I was recording my screen at the same time and I am going to send it to Thermoworks... I paid a lot for that thing, it has not happened before or since I recorded that video.

      @@Viewtoagrill they have great customer support. I’ve contacted them for a few minor things. Always helpful. The only time they couldn’t really help was about the Bluetooth not reconnecting. That’s a software issue they need to resolve to make the short range of the Blue Dot at least somewhat useful. I use the Dot mostly indoors for resting protein in the oven at 150 and I just keep tabs on the temps that way so the short range isn’t an issue.

    Man Johnny, that ham looks delicious! And that glaze you put together had to have been good!😋 I just rescued a Weber Kettle from a pellet griller, so hopefully my cooks come out as good as yours! I haven't used a kettle in probably 30 years? So wish me luck brother! Have an awesome weekend!
