The freedom of moving around when you want, not have a mortgage and utilities, that’s what’s really appealing to me. Life in a van sounds sweet right now.
Hello...raPope here in northeast Tennessee. I built my van back in 2019...then life happened and the van sit for 5 years. I've decided to start over and can't wait to get started with my grandson as my sidekick in the build. Watching your video was all it took to get me motivated again. Thanks.
I love that you put your bed in along the side instead of across the back. Everyone puts theirs across the back, and it takes up a HUGE part of the available room. Everyone wants a large bed, which is not really something that is needed to be comfortable, and to get good sleep.
Yeah..THIS WAS WAS REALLY COOL...IM PLANNING ON DOING THIS IN ABOUT 4 OR 5 YRS...IT WILL BE MY ON HOME AWAY FROM HOME..ITS WILL BE HIGHER THAN RENTING OUT A ROOM..BUT I DONT PLAN ON DEALING WITH THE EXPENSES AND THINGS THAT GO WITH A HOME...I LIKE THE IDEA OF GOING OFF GRIND..THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL FIND ME ON SEE ME...IS IF YOU KNOW ME..OR I KNOW YOU... THANKS..**ONE#1**
I'm very impressed with your build and it's hard to impress me. I am a builder/ engineer/ electric engineer/ plumber/ master carpenter etc. I enjoyed you skill set and your hands on knowledge that lead you to do a excellent build. You are by far the best I have seen out of you-tube. You should build on the side and sale van's for extra income.........Bless you & your journey through a amazing life
I gotta say. This is the best or at least a tie with the van build videos. Because it shows us HOW to do it. Not simply just what I have. It's very informative. I'm mean very. My brother is good at construction ..getting a friend to bounce ideas off of was really good. Creating templates with cardboard before you put things in. Great great job.
I just wanna say thank you. I would be in a very tough spot without this video. My lease is up in a little over a month and my roommate is moving to a different city at that point. I had to decide wether to move back to Pennsylvania or live out of a van to be able to afford to stay in the Boulder, CO area. So thank you very much. This information has helped me so much. Let me know if you’re ever in the Boulder area!
This is definitely a format Im looking to use in a future build, except Im looking to include a small bathroom/shower and potentially use my camping hammock in lieu of the bed. It always interesting to see how people get so much out of such a limited space.
Dude - van life isn’t my thing but building is and I really enjoyed watching this from start to finish! The thought process was excellent and the final product is amazing! Excellent job sir! Enjoy your new residence!
The best video I have seen so far in van conversion. The most thorough and thought out and complete rebuild. I give a lot of credit to your loving family and friends for inspiring you. And I can see that some of your Dad's engineering instincts are also a part of you. Good job. I will be playing your video back and forth as I am doing my van. Thank you also for your simple presentation in this video, so that even people like me or my grandma could do this. You will go far, Lord willing.
Ahhh! Thank you so much! After releasing a few more tour videos, I'm going to be doing yet another Build Video on my van again. It'll show the same stuff, but with different details, like dimensions and tools used. Maybe material costs. Just stuff I didn't cover in this video. I'm going to try to be even more detailed!
Great video man, i named my van Sophie May after my family dog that past away. She loved to travel, the beach, trails and the water. She would have loved Vanlife.
Great job, I'm in process of getting a Van & doing the same thing, as we're selling the house, cuz I'm 82 yrs old, a disabled Vet & tired of making house payments, this way we can travel around the US & visit our children & what's left of the family that are still alive.
Hey man. Just commenting to say thanks. This video put me on a "van kick" over a year ago and led to me buying an finishing my own van build. Planning on taking off full time in 1-2yrs once the money is right. Thanks for getting the ball rolling!
I wanted to compliment you BEFORE I finished watching the video. I was very impressed with how you set it all up and the outcome. I must say it's one of my favorite ones so far. I think you should create more builds and leave the music on the back burner :). Thanks!

@contact damn man! Did you definitely set up royalties and money correctly? Have you uploaded your music to the correct website? You could be getting paid tons of money right now with that. My tour video Alone on RUclips here pays me about $1,000 to $2,000 a month. The same could be possible with your top 10 hits
Ha, I see ya, Hollow Knight..lol. I really like the immense desk space you gave yourself for work/gaming. It's literally a hotel room on wheels. The amount of detail and personal touches you put in this design is crazy.
I think that you did a wonderful job building out your van! I’ve never quite seen a layout such as your design.. I love how it looked while you were all warm & cozy inside with your little wood burning stove. I’ve never seen a van that’s completely covered in plywood like that. It seems you have no windows at all except of course for the driving windows and while looking in it seems your totally surrounded in a tiny wood cabin type of place.. good for you. I dream about someday having a beautiful van/home and traveling around to all the places that I’ve always wanted to go… Goof for you!! It’s definitely the bomb!!
Growing up, we had a light purplish van and I called her Sheila. She had leather seats and vents and lights everywhere. I miss her. She passed away though in middle School
That was to date the best build I`ve seen. I need this in my life. In Denmark though I will be chased like a villan, or brake ins by crooks who just cant resist the sight of a secret van.
Add graphics to the sides that say something like Joe's septic pumping or Jack's snake farm if it can kill you we grow it.. nobody will come within 300 feet of your van
Best build tour for me. Steady pictures instead time lapse and silly music. Thanks for showing details. And Big White seems to be a warm and comfy and functional home.
I'm so jealous of people who can do such amazing work. I hope I can find a good friend taht can help me build my van one day. :) Nice build! congratulations. :)
This is one of the coolest van build I have ever seen due to the prepping and build of the floor. Plus, the thermal properties chart is a nice touch! However, I think that it would make the van feel bigger inside if you paint the walls white. Due to the fact that your van doesn't have a hightop on it.
I’m still in high school but I hope to have a van after college because of my job I’m probably going to get my dad to help me build it because he is good with this kind of stuff
It would be great to work with your father.....but between now and then you can learn everything but don't loose focus on your college studies. RUclips will teach you anything you want.

Just waiting for school to end. Then ill sell my current car, buying a van and building one like yours. Im so excited! Youve been a great inspiration, you have fitted everything a Young nerd needs in a small space like this. Its awesome

Queen Mother -I actually put my 30 days notice in Oct. 2018. I ordered my van which unfortunately won’t be delivered till March 2019. I’m having cold feet to buy a used one. But being a single female, I don’t want to worry about maintenance. Good luck to you!
I was so excited watching your video and learning from it! I watched it 3 times to- soak up some info and then put it in my saved list. I start mine soon and im ever so grateful for your posting this. I too, am going to do this all by myself! I have no other family that could help me and my father's gone too so I know i'm in for a lot of frustration but will try to enjoy the process so I can hit the road and put my old life in the past where it belongs. Wish me luck* again, thank you for posting***
This is a fantastic build. I love van builds and how people can be creative and practical with what they need and do not need. Awesome finished product. ✌️
Good job :) My 02 has floor rusting issues. My van is just a week end toy but has all I need, nothing like this. I have the basics. Milk jugs, containers nice bed, chair table. Strip lights. Camping necessities.
I drove a van for 15 years and it would blast right thru the deepest snow as long as I kept the 36 gallon fuel tank full, I would even turn doughnuts in it. Nice job on the van.
Such a rad build! I've wanted to do this for a long time and I'm finally in a place where I have the opportunity to make the dream a reality and it's videos like your that will guide me!
I can’t understand how there are 280 thumbs down on this video. You did a great job both on the van and on the video. Very clear and concise with a lot of good information and ideas. And thankfully none of that weird canned music so many people put on. I really love this build. The only thing that would bother me is not having any windows- gotta have light. Put a 2nd fire extinguisher in the back.
Light comes in from the fan up top, so i know it's day if all doors are closed. If I want a window, I open my front door and look out the front window. It's a large window then
I’ve been watching a lot of van builds and some people (who have a lot of money) go really fancy. I like yours because the look is very simplistic & u have everything U need. The only thing is with a little bigger van u can have a toilet. If I’m going to be on the road for two years I must have a toilet onboard. And I have always wanted to live on a sailboat as well. But the upkeep and maintenance is definitely a lot more money. Great job! Be safe!
I built the space in between the fridge and bed originally for a toilet. One would for sure fit. I never saw the need to actually buy the toilet after living inside, so now I use this space for clothes instead. Toilets are everywhere.
@@usastrongwoman1 well, maybe but Tons of solo female vanners have just a pee jug! I'm friends with many I meet up with all the time, especially right now in St Pete. Women can do it too! Traveled with one for a tiny bit and she was good with just a pee jug! Women aren't that different. You can do it! You just need to get used to it! There is always a way!
Dude, we literally have almost the EXACT same build, I have a ford E-350 and the only main difference out vans is my bed slides from couch into bed, blew me away how much out builds are exactly the same 😂. I’m finally almost done with my build and so wish I had seen this before I started. Can totally relate with spending 75% of the time sitting in the van thinking “how in the world am I going to make this work” 😂. Great video man, obliviously love your build, the mood lighting around all the edges is very smart, think I will be doing that as well.
Exactly! Gotta learn to sail first for me too. Haha. Get me on Facebook? facebook.com/ryanbell88 Say hey if you add so I know who you are. We can talk.
Absolutely beautiful build. I Love the warmth of the wood paneling and flooring plus that mini wood burner! The way it's been built, keeping cozy during the really frigid nights should be no problem.
I also own a 2002 Ford E-150 ClubWagon 4.6 V8. I named her “SpyAv8or”. I am a retired Licensed Private Investigator and Private Pilot, hence the name “SpyAv8or”. Thanks for the video. You gave me some great ideas for my build.
Coolest build I've ever seen! This is exactly my style. Personally I'd like to have wifi so I could with watch Netflix or do some online gaming. Awesome work, I really admire it! ✌️
Nice build , looks bigger finished than when empty. Love the small wood stoves. I realize a raised roof is expensive and have seen some videos where people took a truck camper shell and added it on top that looks ghetto but I've yet to see a bass boat used. Take a aluminum bass boat/ flat bottom and flip it upside down and mount it up and poof a low buck high top that's aerodynamic ish, lol.
Unga Bunga Better idea, build one from cedar strips on frame and jigs of plywood, similar to boat construction using epoxy and covering in fiberglass cloth. Instead of costing $5k+ you will be able to make one for under $1k... You’re welcome.
I had an idea to make a geometric teardrop camper, with a bass boat for a roof. In theory it would take a custom bass boat and clamp to a trailer with an elongated triangle for it to sit on, the bass boat could be tilted up to allow a bug net to be placed inside. The boat would be latched on during stationary status, and bolted and latched during transportation. Oh yeah the boat would come off. If you want I can post the sketches I've made.
Wow!! Excellent job on this video! I just purchased my extended, high top, Ford e250 van and I'm so stoked to get started on my build out! Thank you for sharing all this information.
Out of all the high dollar builds I have watched, you are a threat. You installed the insulation exactly how I understood the directions but your woodwork is way better than mine, I dont think people want or need ring dings and sparkle when they build their shelves and drawers. You nailed it with its simplicity and perfect clean style. You should continue to do builds, I think you have something to build on, especially if you are $$$$ less. I use a Chinese diesel 5KW heater, I installed a 2.5G cell next to my other tank, the gas cap is next to my regular gas. I run it all day on low in very cold weather, ive been in 5 deg F weather, the inside was 65deg F running it on low. I bought the heater from a friend who owned it for a few years, Ive had it for 2, with yearly maintenance and some consumable parts, I think itll run for years. I dont like or trust chinese product but this little heater is well built for the price, I feel fine running it all day and leaving the van, it just plugs away.
Yeah! I'll get a diesel heater in my next van! Hell yeah man! Thanks for the kind words! I'm at least going to build more in the future. A bigger van I can stand in, an entire bus that will be my home base in a tiny home community, and a sailboat which is my real dream!
@@OutdoorsEmbrace Did you know its cheaper to dock a boat in San Diego than it is to rent an apt or trailer park? If you have a boat, go check out the PB area.
I absolutely LOVE this video. Thank you, thank you! I have done so much research for my own upcoming build (so excited!!), that when I come across a gem of a video like this, I have to give kiddos where they are due. One heck of a job!
Connecting batteries in series only doubles the voltage not the amperage. If you parallel batteries of like voltages you can multiply the ah times the number of batteries.
Yeah but in this video you say you connect 2 six volt batteries in series and you say you’re doubling amp hours which is incorrect. You’re only doubling voltage by running in series, parallel doubles amperage and keeps voltage the same.
Sweet job on the van conversion btw! I just finished my sailboat and am thinking of converting my Chevy express van next, great inspiration thanks for sharing!
@@edwinpetters803 oh damn! I guess I said it wrong in this video! Thanks for letting me know. I didn't catch this. Back then, Series and Parallel always confused me on which they doubled haha
Great build! Love the bike! Make sure you are riding with a helmet! You don't need a traumatic brain injury! I'm a grandmother so I can tell you that. (Plus I studied traumatic brain injuries for 25 years.) Have fun on your journey!
@@Koolgit , you obviously no longer feel as you did in 2008, 'to love and fear God, and be nice'. You fulfill bible prophecy, 'man will advance from bad to worse'. 2 Timothy 3:13. To bad, because Jesus says at Matthew 24:13, "He that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.”
Enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing. One part which concerns me is the gas tank. Sounds like you're into boats, and if your gas setup was on a boat the following definitely applies (regulations) but it just as much applies to RV too. The gas tank needs to be in a space sealed from the interior living space. If the access door is inside the vehicle, then that door needs to be air tight when closed, and certainly no big holes in the door! Then a drop out vent on the floor next to the gas bottle to allow leaks to vent straight outside. And no clutter in the gas locker which might move around and obstruct the vent hole. A lot of van builds trip up over this so it's definitely not just you, but I'd say you need to look into gas safety. Be safe!
Wishwader LP gas certified RV service company owner/operator for 22 years here. Your points mentioned are 100% correct. I do hope our channel host delves further into RVIA (and later on ABYC) LP gas system standards. They exist for some very good reasons. : )
I must say you did a fine job and great video, nice presentation! I'm just starting a van build, I've been in Class A's for 7 yrs, and now downsizing. Thanks so much! You did the bed the way I did my first one in a box truck. Safe travels.

Any video's?
You have totally inspired me to change my life and live a van life.
Yes! Do it!
I made this video for people like you! Add me on FB if you have any questions! Good luck!
I’d be delivering uber eats and doordash in that bad boy and call it a day whenever I feel like it lol
So you live in ur van and just Uber eats to make money?

Such a rad build! I've wanted to do this for a long time and I'm finally in a place where I have the opportunity to make the dream a reality and it's videos like your that will guide me!
Yeah! Thank you so much! If you need any help, just ask or add me on Facebook! Link is on my channel. Just private message me if you want.
Wicked home Ryan!
Way more complex and spacious then mine. Thanks for the inspiration!
I have watched a lot of van builds on youtube and this one is by far best one yet, it right in so many ways. Good on you, I hope it serves you well.
Perfect. Thank you. You answered my question about the costs. Be well and God bless you!!!!
Beautiful. This sort of life is looking more and more appealing.
Ingenious, great work and a lot of planning, came out beautiful , good job !
I'm from Melbourne Australia. I'd be doing that soon. Four years from now. Gonna strip a van clean do it up.
It's a large window then
Outdoors Embrace good. Light is important. Again, you did a great job.
@@OutdoorsEmbrace Maybe because you’re a guy and only have to sit half the time you go. LOL. Thank you for answering back. Again, love the build.
Aaron Simmons you should definitely make a video about your build!
Make a video of it!
I'm on the same ish. Sail and vanlife til I die. Gotta learn to sail first, haha
Exactly! Gotta learn to sail first for me too. Haha.

Jenny! She’s getting a make over right now, thanks for the descriptive video!
This is great, you should do this as a job for other people. I would defiantly pay you for this and so will others.👊👍
Defiantly pay him?lol
good detail pictures
Unga Bunga
Better idea, build one from cedar strips on frame and jigs of plywood, similar to boat construction using epoxy and covering in fiberglass cloth. Instead of costing $5k+ you will be able to make one for under $1k...
You’re welcome.
Sounds good until your insurance want to see your converted van with a homemade top.@@Rick_Sanchez_C137_
there was an actuall rv that had an actual remove able boat like that!
Hell yeah! I'm gonna check that out! Thanks

I absolutely LOVE this video. Thank you, thank you! I have done so much research for my own upcoming build (so excited!!), that when I come across a gem of a video like this, I have to give kiddos where they are due. One heck of a job!
Thank you Misty!
Connecting batteries in series only doubles the voltage not the amperage. If you parallel batteries of like voltages you can multiply the ah times the number of batteries.
Correct! I explain this in my electronics video
Very good job,may God Bless on your Travels and life in General
Very nice!!! Congratulations!!
Great video! Your layout is one of my favorites!
great, smart build. i liked all the "......i put it in place to see if it fit....and it did" parts
Some good detailed thought when into this one. I particularly like how you setup the lead acid batteries to be filled with water conveniently.
That's a damn nice job.. Good video too.

Great build! Love the bike! Make sure you are riding with a helmet! You don't need a traumatic brain injury! I'm a grandmother so I can tell you that. (Plus I studied traumatic brain injuries for 25 years.) Have fun on your journey!
HAHA, yes! Will do! Thank you! :p

@@Koolgit No Joseph, I will never shut up!

@@SpeedKosts People would not believe how right you are.
Amazing....not just a van but a work of art.
This is the best van conversion I've seen to date! Great job! You are an inspiration. Are you able to sleep with the wood burning stove running all night?
Yes! I can sleep with it on. I have proper ventilation. It goes out after 2 to 3 hours though.
