I seen better builds but I like ones that are simple and cheap like your camper van, I prefer wood stove if I really want to go offline. Propane is good but not everlasting and solar works sketchy on cloudy/rainy/winter days, needs more space though with full chimney and all.
He got really close, but ... As for as I can see, most of these vanner's miss one of the most important things. What's that you ask ? Communications... Bcuz, when shit hits the fan, cell phones and WIFI are over. None of these folks have any CB's, gmrs, vhf, HF, 2 meter/440, shortwave, police scanners, Sirius sat, Z-boost, true GPS NOTHING, ZILTCH, NADA, ZERO They think that crappie lil cell phone is gonna do anything when they TRULY need it an emergency situation. My van has the capability of talking to everything I've mentioned, plus aircraft and ships as well. I have 1 radio that when I key the mic, ( if hear them anywhere in the world ), they can hear my too. Anywhere! Africa, Russia, China UK, Australia, etc ... To truly survive properly, most if not all of them are totally missing what's called " OFF GRIDDING " I've already realized that the E250 I'm building is to small. Gotta move up to a shuttle bus on 450 chassis to actually do it properly on a true minimal level. Vans are just to small. PERIOD !!!
@@korkiemc6129 Yeah man, I totally feel ya - but that's not the point of this van. It's a camping van, not a bugout van. It can be easilly added though. Stick an anytone 578 and a Yaesu ft-891 up front both mars modded, tri band (you forgot 1.25m) and a screwdriver antenna, couple of HT's in the back. Throw an antenna you can set up for NVIS on 40m and 80m in a cabinet somewhere - because you're probably going to want to talk to people a little closer than Europe or Africa. Don't really need any more space to do that. Also that's not off gridding, that's comms - and it's also not priority 1 for surviving ... pretty much any of the scenarios involving bugging out - from natural disaster, to mad max - you need power, water, and food more than comms.
I've watched several van life oriented videos and yours is the first I've seen that actually shows their "protection" I am very glad to see that you've taken the initiative of self-defense and have armed yourself! I carry a Sig P365X every single day and would never ever live in a van without at least a pistol. Great video and absolutely love the van!
A suggestion for you from someone with nearly 20 years of fire service experience: Move your fire extinguisher. Where you have it located now is right between the two main sources of fire in your van and in order to get it in an emergency you may well have to try to reach through the flames.
I need to save up another 10 grand here then I get to make my first and sell it. Then make 2 then sell those... then make 10 then sell all 10 of them... then hire idiots to do it for me for 1/5 the costs. Then buy my own island.
@@NorthFloridaMan I would think you could get a decent van for 10-15K. Then after another 10K in upgrades, Don't forget that you might want to take the engine out and put something MUCH larger in it. Big rims and huge wheels so this van can practically go Off-Road. (Well at least it could mow the lawn, or do cookies in a field). After the engine you might want to tack on another 10K in upgrade costs. Bringing the final price to produce a super beast bug out van to 45K. Now to sell it you want to at least turn a 1/3 profit so, Asking price possibly 62K.
I would buy it in a heartbeat if it was set up the same exact way gear and all.. I mean how can you not love the freedom it grants you lol. Plus that wood stove is a major selling point for me.
Yes, my 4G is fast only in certain places (wherever your phone gets 4G, It's the same thing), but I can pick where I stop for the night. I always pick a place with good signal. I can check that on my phone up front, because the Hotspot is using the same towers.
Older fridges have higher power draw. As do Thermoelectric fridges. What you want is a new compressor fridge (they turn off when at a certain temp). This will keep your draw to 2AMPS or less.
on my camper a Berlingo... the toilet is a 3 litre bottle of softener 'empty'', wide necked, a folding shovel and some toilet roll.. no explanation needed

Only one reason why someone should dislike this is the fact that a propane tank being used inside is extremely dangerous and will kill him someday unfortunately. It’s absolutely forbidden to be used inside like that because it’s been proven to be dangerous. 😞 unfortunately people are watching videos like this for ideas for building. He’s showing us his propane tank inside himself. He showed it without saying anything about the danger ⚠️ and he didn’t think about mentioning that because obviously he thinks it’s safe and just fine. This is one time I wish I wasn’t correct.😔🖖🏼 Please everyone please don’t use propane tanks like that enclosed inside where you live it will definitely kill you! Please please get the hose and store the tanks in a well ventilated compartment that has openings allowing the propane to fall out. It is heavier than air it sinks and pools and waits for a static spark ⚡️. It doesn’t take much if it’s inside a cupboard under a sink and the explosion is inconceivable! I hope people will make sure when developing plans for their build to prepare it for safety. NEVER NEVER NEVER STORE PROPANE TANKS INSIDE ANY VAN TRAILER OR RV OR STRUCTURE AND USE IT WHILE ITS INSIDE! 💥💥💥😢🇺🇸
@@erickamekonapeper4007 I agree. I'd replace the propane set-up with a portable induction cooktop with maybe a dedicated portable solar generator battery system. otherwise it's a nice build.
One suggestion I might make, if nobody has mentioned it to you already, is possibly thinking of moving your fire extinguisher. Currently you have it right in between your propane stove and wood burner, within a foot of each it looks like. Those are the two biggest potential sources of fire hazard in your setup, and if either of them go up the proximity to your extinguisher will make it nearly impossible to get to without severely burning yourself. Aside from that your setup looks really good.
Elias Nightfire in RVs you typically have the fire extinguishers by doors (to be fair it’s just something you run past on your way outside, RVs are tinderboxes and RV fire extinguishers are garbage) but it’s just a safety thing so if you can’t get the fire under control you’re already in the door
I lived out of a F-150 with the 8 foot bed, with a truck cap for over a decade when i was young, save up lots of money plus you tend not to keep alot of crap because you have no room for it. That was back in the 90's, people left me alone because I didn't make a nuisance of myself.
Really nice setup mate. I would consider moving your fire extinguisher to the back of the van. You don’t want to have to go closer to a potential fire to get to the extinguisher. Also if a fire starts while you are outside it will be in the best spot to advance towards the fire.
Imagine accidentally getting in a car crash with this guy thinking your not gonna have to pay much and paying for all of his computers and a tv and bbq and shit
@@frog8500 I've seen other van lifer build a wooden barrier specifically around the propane tank, so incase it does blow up, it has to grow through an additional layer of defence...
I'd like to see a skinny guy, a medium built guy, a fat guy and a muscular guy go up against a man with a glock at 30 metres away. Pretty sure they'd all lose ;)
I wouldn't put the fire extinguisher that close to the stove. I would put it close to the exit. If there was a fire, you couldn't get to the extinguisher because that would be where the fire would be. I have a woodstove in my garage, I have my extinguisher on the other side of the garage where the door is.
You beat me to it.... a pressurized vessel isn't best stored directly beside a heat source and you really don't want to store your fire supression device that close to the most potential fire ignition sources... but other than that, this is AWESOME
Anthony Quattro Yeah I like this much more than other van videos. Thought I don’t think it is quite up to my level of craftsmanship in some areas and well above it in other respects. The pump was extremely impressive to me. Though the wood work wasn’t quite my thing (not saying it is bad). There is a lot of potentially free moving objects, and that seems dangerous. WiFi is cool too.
This is probably the best van I've seen on youtube. Not to big. Just what a person needs. I really want to build a van like this. That secondary lighting is sick!!
Thought for you. put the fire extinguisher as close to doors as possible. You wouldn't want to have to reach INTO the fire to put it out, since it's right in the middle of your combustible sources
my eyes went wide when i first saw inside. I was literally speechless I've never seen a build like that in a relatively small van like that. It's so functional in such a small space. This is literally better then some builds I've seen in vans like Mercedes sprinters, bloody oath
It's all possible for anyone with the time or money to make it work! Thanks btw! Just wait for my next build, building out a tall big van now and it will have all this and more.
Your van is kick-ass. If I was gonna live full time off grid I'd do a van like yours for sure. Looks cozy, dude. Glad you take your safety into account as well and decided to carry while you're off grid like that.
I would like to make a safety suggestion move the fire extinguisher to the back of the van since the most likely place to catch fire is gonna the wood burning stove and if u wake up in the middle of the night to ur wood burning stove engulfed in flames it would be more difficult to get ur fire extinguisher in its current place I'd move it by the back door just my suggestion tho I dig the van
wow, it's made of very simple materials, also the built quality looks kind of pragmatically, but very comfortable and that small room has been used very effetively. Gorgeous. Greetings from Munich, Bavaria, Germany
You cant really see in on this type van. It's all secluded inside. Also it's not like hes running around in south central L.A. or Chicago area. One has to be smarter than the criminal in these times.

This is the one. I've looked at so many van conversions and they all just didn't feel like they fit me. But this one... this one is the one.
Eivor! I love your name. I listen to a band called Eivør.
Thank you for liking the build!
This is the most homely one I’ve seen. No plastic surfaces. The stove.
So much thought has gone into the design. Very nice 👍
I seen better builds but I like ones that are simple and cheap like your camper van, I prefer wood stove if I really want to go offline. Propane is good but not everlasting and solar works sketchy on cloudy/rainy/winter days, needs more space though with full chimney and all.
He got really close, but ...
As for as I can see,
most of these vanner's miss one of the most important things.
What's that you ask ?
Communications...
Bcuz, when shit hits the fan, cell phones and WIFI are over.
None of these folks have any CB's, gmrs, vhf, HF, 2 meter/440, shortwave, police scanners, Sirius sat, Z-boost, true GPS
NOTHING, ZILTCH, NADA, ZERO
They think that crappie lil cell phone is gonna do anything when they TRULY need it an emergency situation.
My van has the capability of talking to everything I've mentioned, plus aircraft and ships as well. I have 1 radio that when I key the mic, ( if hear them anywhere in the world ), they can hear my too. Anywhere! Africa, Russia, China UK, Australia, etc ...
To truly survive properly, most if not all of them are totally missing what's called
" OFF GRIDDING "
I've already realized that the E250 I'm building is to small.
Now I have the P365XL with me!

A suggestion for you from someone with nearly 20 years of fire service experience: Move your fire extinguisher. Where you have it located now is right between the two main sources of fire in your van and in order to get it in an emergency you may well have to try to reach through the flames.
My Thought Exactly. Spot On👍
Is it an issue to have the propane tank inside?

If you built vans half as fancy as yours and sold them on the side, you would make a killing. Highly impressive man.
I need to save up another 10 grand here then I get to make my first and sell it. Then make 2 then sell those... then make 10 then sell all 10 of them... then hire idiots to do it for me for 1/5 the costs. Then buy my own island.
Not really that thing easily had 10 grand in upgrades
@@NorthFloridaMan I would think you could get a decent van for 10-15K. Then after another 10K in upgrades, Don't forget that you might want to take the engine out and put something MUCH larger in it. Big rims and huge wheels so this van can practically go Off-Road. (Well at least it could mow the lawn, or do cookies in a field). After the engine you might want to tack on another 10K in upgrade costs. Bringing the final price to produce a super beast bug out van to 45K. Now to sell it you want to at least turn a 1/3 profit so, Asking price possibly 62K.
Paul G @ qna you don’t know what your talking about
$62k? You could buy an actual RV for that. Or a cheap house. Nobody is going to pay anywhere near that for a modded, used van lol.
It’s the wood stove that does it for me 😎
First it was the dude living in the storage container and now you!
The amount of creativity you guys have is spectacular and just blows my mind.
Thank you man! The passion for being free made me do it.
I think you should go into business selling vans like this.
Pat From Plymouth yeah I’d buy one
I’d probably invest into it too
heck i'd buy a van from him then
I'd buy
I would buy it in a heartbeat if it was set up the same exact way gear and all.. I mean how can you not love the freedom it grants you lol. Plus that wood stove is a major selling point for me.
Most Impressive Van I've seen in my entire life no joke.
Thank you so much!
I love how he built it with the features he needs and wants. That's what this is about.
You know what's funny?
The fact that you are in a forest and you get faster internet than I do in the city😂
That's just sad
I have insane Internet. It just takes a second job to afford it.
he said in another video he uses his phone as a hotspot for his Roku, it's actually very reliable to do that
@@RingoYote Your right because depending on where you are Wi-Fi may me slower than mobile data
@@Enafa666 As soon as I step foot off my porch my Wifi turns to shit...

You have the only sensible sink that I've seen after viewing hundreds of videos. Great build.
I don't know why anyone would dislike this video. You did an amazing job on this build. It fits your personality! Thank you for sharing your home!
This is one time I wish I wasn’t correct.😔🖖🏼
Please everyone please don’t use propane tanks like that enclosed inside where you live it will definitely kill you!

Pretty awesome. The one thing I've felt like most of these van builds lack is a solid entertainment system. You did not skip that step.

@@keving9233 exactly. Van life my ass if you gotta stay online

Really nice setup mate. I would consider moving your fire extinguisher to the back of the van. You don’t want to have to go closer to a potential fire to get to the extinguisher. Also if a fire starts while you are outside it will be in the best spot to advance towards the fire.
Come back to this video every now and then, thank you brother, hope your endeavors have been fruitful and blessed.

Love it. I just bought a 2003 econoline 12 passenger van in excellent condition. Thanks for the inspiration of how to do mine.

Anthony Quattro wtf? this not a Red Dead Redemption 2 video

It is actually close to the door.. u see when he opened the side door.. the fire extinguisher was hanging right infront of the door.
