how comfy you are on a sports bike depends a lot on how big you are......lol i'm 5'6 and the ZX's that taller people (and not much taller at that) are folded up like a pocketknife on is super comfortable for me for long distance.....the GSXR's tend to have a massive wide seat that stops me from being able to put a foot down without sliding half off the seat

That speed triple is amazing looking and you will be king squid if you pull up om that. I think for about half the $$$ and probably less than half of luxury, the MT-09 is a great street squid motorcycle if you want a triple. Triples give you a great balance of torque and HP and that's what you want on the street. I'm also a biased MT-09 owner so, there's that.
What kind of squid wants a bike that's barely rideable at 90 and tops out at 120? My V-Strom does better than that. Yamaha needs to put that triple in an adventure bike, perhaps a Tenere 900.

Damn insurance is crazy in America! My 2004 636 with full coverage here in England, was £150, for the year (that's about $200) - side note, I ride mine for upto 8-10 hours a day on long rides, but yeah, I do a lot of stretches and stuff. And, if you have even a slightly injured thigh, the zx6 let's you know, and kicks your ass
'21 636 here Not sure if it's the same but It's all based on geography, age, background history, general history of the bike itself on how other people who own the same model you use, average cost of repairs either from minor damage to totalled and other factors. So yeah over here we're all dangerous to ourselves and others lol. Which is why we pay high insurance, I'm probably a bit on the low end but still more paying on average US $350-$380 a year 😅
I feel like there’s no way you have full coverage for that little, only liability. The valuation on a rideable 04 636 is still well above most entry level bikes. Insurance companies wouldn’t be able to stay afloat covering liability and the bike itself for so little. People would just dump their bike when repairs are needed and basically get a $5k check for a few $200 payments.
@@waterpanda222 insurance for bikes is just that cheap here. I've had ducatis insured for similar prices. I have been riding for 11 years though, and have 8 years of no claims on my record, with each year giving a discount, dunno if you do that over there? My other bike, my 1994 zxr400, is £75 for the year. The next tier down, third party with fire and theft, would make the zxr about 50, and the 636 was just over £100 for that level. I'm covered to ride other people's bikes too.
@@waterpanda222 i also cant believe it, but then again, just getting your motorcycle license on Europe is far more difficult than here in the US, so maybe insurance companies know their bikers all ride safe.
Get a used, non-Factory Tuono or RSV4 from 2017 on and call it a day... less out the door, less on insurance... and no electronic suspension means one less thing that can go wrong and cost $$$ to fix.
Surprised they didn't throw the GSX-S1000 into the mashup since Spite compared it to the K6 Gixxer recently. Comfortable ergos of the Hornet, modernised K5-K8 Gixxer full liter engine that still has cable-actuated throttle, traction control, surprisingly good gas mileage, and used ones can be had in the $7 -10k range. Insurance? Could be be better, could be worse.
My first bike (35 days) was a Z650 which I felt so comfortable with, that I immediately pulled the trigger on a brand new MV Agusta Brutale RR… amazing bike and actually easier to ride than the Z650. Love the recommendation for standard/naked bikes.
If you havent ridden on the street like I can extrapolate from your comment I would suggest a 300. So maybe the KTM Duke 390, BMW 310 R something like that, I guess if you really have ridden dirtbikes you can ride but trust me it takes a couple months at least to "learn" to ride in traffic. You can still sell it after a year when you put some miles on it, I was hit by a drunk driver and I could have prevented it looking back, just take your time. You are 15 take the year to perfect your street riding and to learn how to see when another driver is acting strange. I know in the US 300 are seen as small but again stay alive and go fast later on. In Europe many many 16 year olds die on 125ccm just because they underestimate the stupidity of daily traffic.
@@silverpredator4213 agree, i got a versys 300 at 15 and it was perfect to start on and give me a solid skill base, im 16 now and have a 2011 zx10r and still miss my 300 lol
As a 19 year old who's never riden until afew months ago, you'll be perfectly fine on a 650. I bought my 400 in June, love how efficent and flickable it is, but definitely lacking power after 60 mph. You can pass for sure, taken it to 110. But it takes a while to get there. 650s are perfectly adequate if you have any experience
Insurance companies hate fairings. Back in 2017 I was debating between an FZ09 vs R6. On average most places quoted 3x more for the R6. One even quoted 5x as much.
The American approach to your title question is bigger is always better. The reality is each bike is specific to how you want to ride. The solution for me is to own 3 motorcycles! Classic 1993 Kawasaki Zephyr 1100, ZX12R, FJR 1300.
I bounce between dailying a 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R and a 2004 Suzuki GZXR 750. Both bikes are fun AF and I love them both. If I could afford that Triumph triple, that'd be my go to dream bike.
Great video lads, a guy in our club has a turbo 'busa, it cost him £6,100 to insure, he's a guy in his 40s with full no claims bonus and his GSX-R1000R cost just £900 in comparison.
For street bikes and touring on a budget? >SV650 (midrange, reliable, and handles amazingly well but needs suspension and fork mods) >NC750X (Low and mid range, reliable as HECK, cheap to run, cheap to insure and amazing in traffic but needs mods, but for the price you are set) >VFR800 (Midrange for days, reliable and great for touring, bit of an old mans bike but fun enough) >Moto Guzzi Breva V750 ( low chuggin fun, great character and is cheap ASF to buy, also basically bullet proof and probably the easiest bike to maintain) Ive owned these bike and more but my pick is the NC750X since even after 17 years of riding its still fun, practical and with the mods is amazing. Not after dank power anymore. Squids might not find it fun but those getting back into riding should only consider this lol
I'm 73 and want to get back into it after 40 years! Looking for a 125 to start. I just want to ride again, to feel that one more time before I check out.😊
You guys frequently discuss the big GSXRs and the small Ninjas. How do you feel about the big Ninjas? Haven't they always been pretty bad ass and very comparable to the Hyabusa?
I had my beautiful Striple stolen at the end of last season, I really want to get another Triple but the resale market is just nuts right now. I’ve been looking at a cheap pre ‘10 600RR’s, but even they seem to be hot. I’m hoping to find something cheap soon cause it’s so sad seeing everyone getting out and enjoying their rides
@@i_observe9846 Yeah the police have a report but it’s likely been parted out. They took my partner’s brand new Rebel 300 too, so we’re always watching to see them together 😂 but most likely they’re not on the street

Proud street squid here (although I track 2-3 times a summer) and I love all motorcycles but am happiest with a liter between my legs. My CBR1kRR is the most fun I’ve had on twos
It's funny how you take insurance into consideration. Here where I am, you can insure a 600 for half of the amount you would insure a 1200cc dadbike. The government is essentially incentivizing people to ride R6es instead of normal bikes  And to answer the question in the video - Gixxer thau bro!
my dad daily drove a honda ntv 650 for 20 years in england, backwards and forwards to work in all weather conditions. shaft final drive so perfect for our wet / snowy / gritty / salty road conditions here
My 2 cents as a squid who daily's my bike year' round in Colorado: Sports-touring bikes are where it's at! *Think: storage, comfort, AND agility! I highly prefer BMW for price, performance, and reliability, plus insurance is always reasonably priced. Check out older K bikes and newer R bikes, specifically. S1000XR, anybody? K1100S? R1100S? R1200S? K1600GT? Hell, R1250GS? F650? Shaft-driven, low wreck-rates, and exceptional convenience! BMW sport-touring bikes shall not be slept on!
The XSR900. You can definitely squid yourself silly. Insurance is cheap. They aren't too expensive. Sound good. Great ergonomics. Smooth wind flow. Handle great and particularly stable. Triple engine is a treat, all the power you can even semi-responsibly wield on the street, which means it is more engaging that say an R1 (I have owned 3). Great tires from the factory. Full modern electronics, and even has cruise control. Very under-appreciated/recognized bike IMO.
I can tell you guys having lived in Europe for half of my life (I'm 55) I ride a Honda CB650R from 2021 but the young guys are all riding Super Dukes. Me I never had a bike with fairing, always had Hyper Nakeds.
I've daily'd both my '02 & '07 Yamaha YZF-R6 bike's for the most part year round... sometimes because I felt like it but otherwise because there was a winter where I had little choice in the matter. Mind you I was waking up at 4@m to 0-32 F Pennsylvania temperatures to ride to work everyday. It's amazing how much I loved the heat that radiated from the DeltaBox frame below the gas tank during the winter as I froze my @$$ off. Then in the summer I despised long lines of traffic in the ever increasing high temperature global warming heat that was just a out as hot as the exhaust(close enough) that would be combatted through the frequency of Gas Station stops for 93/94 octane fuel that felt like i just dropped ice cubes in the gas tank to keep swamp ass and burnt legs at bay
I enjoyed the video very much, it was quite informative. So I have a quandary for you. I have been riding for many many years but it’s mostly been cruisers. My skill level with a sport bike is limited and as such I feel I need to start small and go up, not 250 small but 600 small. I rode my friends GSX 600 R and I enjoyed it very much. It was fun without being overwhelming. So I know I like the GSXR600 the question is; is there a better 600 for a person that on the new side of sportbikes?
I own a 15' 750 and 17' 1000 GSXR and the 750 for Canyon carving hands down just a different bike when it comes to handling. More user friendly and better steering feedback.
I just traded my 06 gsxr600 for a 04 gsxr1000 huge difference for street riding, the 1000 is a lot my uncomfortable for longer rides but oh boy I can’t believe how fast it is and how little I can be full throttle without having the wheel come up, the 600 I was comfortable and fun around town, not to say the 1000 isn’t fun around town, but you definitely can actually wind it out and use the power available unlike the 1000, either way though, I love my gsxr1000 and wouldn’t even consider trading back
Insurance price is a HUGE factor in my bike choice. When getting my first bike, I was shocked that full coverage could vary anywhere from $200/year to $200/month. That's 12 TIMES more. (Think I'll go neo-retro next. Should be decent there.)
Insurance is cheap if you live in the right state and have a good driving record. I’m paying $60 a year for my zx14. Just liability, but it’s a reconstructed title 60k mile sport bike 🤷♂️ and as far as a daily, I ride my 89 goldwing most of the time, the zx14 really isn’t bad for a sport bike though, doesn’t kill my back on longer rides
I see the turbo busa and raise you a supercharged busa, thanks to JHS racing in the UK you can get a supercharger kit for the gen 2 hayabusa 360rwhp 190ft-lb of torque. Them right there is life goals!

My other bike, my 1994 zxr400, is £75 for the year. The next tier down, third party with fire and theft, would make the zxr about 50, and the 636 was just over £100 for that level. I'm covered to ride other people's bikes too.
I gotta F4i.. I pay 128 a month..😬 but that's what I get being the only legal one in the gang..🙄😄💯
I got my triumph trident this week and omg!! I’m I love with it!! Thanks Yammie!!🙏🏼😭
And she’s an attention seeker as well.
Recently got a 2007 ZZR600 (stock)...would you say it qualifies as a "squid" bike? Let me know everyone...
Im 16 and have a 2011 zx10r, its awesome but id like to also get a smaller naked bike for chill riding
@kawasaki_kid not unless your doing 150 mph lol
Surprised they didn't throw the GSX-S1000 into the mashup since Spite compared it to the K6 Gixxer recently. Comfortable ergos of the Hornet, modernised K5-K8 Gixxer full liter engine that still has cable-actuated throttle, traction control, surprisingly good gas mileage, and used ones can be had in the $7 -10k range. Insurance? Could be be better, could be worse.
I had the gsxs750, was a great bike. Made an awesome sound and had more than enough torque down low, and power up high for the street.
My first bike (35 days) was a Z650 which I felt so comfortable with, that I immediately pulled the trigger on a brand new MV Agusta Brutale RR… amazing bike and actually easier to ride than the Z650.
Love the recommendation for standard/naked bikes.
800 or 1000?
Really like the fact that you brought the Bandits in comparison to the Hornet !!
I’m 15 and been riding dirtbikes for a while. Next summer am hoping to pick up a sv650. You have given me so mush info towards street bikes
I bought my first bike from eurocycle. Raced out gsxr 600. I love those guys!
I bounce between dailying a 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R and a 2004 Suzuki GZXR 750. Both bikes are fun AF and I love them both. If I could afford that Triumph triple, that'd be my go to dream bike.
Which one more comfortable, esp for a shorter rider
Can't beat a bandit for squidding if you're from the uk and europe.
Cheap as chips, parts are abundant and they're bulletproof
The best bike is the one that has the HP highest numbers so you can tell everyone you're the best
Great video lads, a guy in our club has a turbo 'busa, it cost him £6,100 to insure, he's a guy in his 40s with full no claims bonus and his GSX-R1000R cost just £900 in comparison.
@ Yammie Noob SPITE was right with the First motorcycle he brought out the Honda is more fun on the street than all the other bikes you brought out.
For street bikes and touring on a budget?
>SV650 (midrange, reliable, and handles amazingly well but needs suspension and fork mods)
>NC750X (Low and mid range, reliable as HECK, cheap to run, cheap to insure and amazing in traffic but needs mods, but for the price you are set)
>VFR800 (Midrange for days, reliable and great for touring, bit of an old mans bike but fun enough)
>Moto Guzzi Breva V750 ( low chuggin fun, great character and is cheap ASF to buy, also basically bullet proof and probably the easiest bike to maintain)
Ive owned these bike and more but my pick is the NC750X since even after 17 years of riding its still fun, practical and with the mods is amazing.
What a perfect video to watch just before my moto commute to work 🤣
I had my beautiful Striple stolen at the end of last season, I really want to get another Triple but the resale market is just nuts right now.
I’ve been looking at a cheap pre ‘10 600RR’s, but even they seem to be hot. I’m hoping to find something cheap soon cause it’s so sad seeing everyone getting out and enjoying their rides
can't you track the bike w the plates??
@@i_observe9846 Yeah the police have a report but it’s likely been parted out. They took my partner’s brand new Rebel 300 too, so we’re always watching to see them together 😂 but most likely they’re not on the street
@Thomas B I had a Viago Smart Tracker but I never installed it cause it didn't seem to work in Canada
my 97 cbr600 f3 is the perfect street squid bike for a beginner, enough power to keep you happy for a while but not enough that you gotta be scared of the throttle
Yamaha FZ6 is pretty good all around. I like mine
Great content guys! Loving the Triumph out of that group.
I daily ride a ZX-14R. So comfy.
I can tell you guys having lived in Europe for half of my life (I'm 55) I ride a Honda CB650R from 2021 but the young guys are all riding Super Dukes. Me I never had a bike with fairing, always had Hyper Nakeds.
yesssss loving the metal drums! 🤘
i ride a versys 650... why am i watching this?
Which one is best for street? R3. Anything bigger is way more than is legal capable and you can squid all you want on it.
Sounds like shit tho
I ride vintage bikes. So those are way to nice for me. My favourite is my 1082 CB900c ten speed 😅
An H2 with stage 2 supercharger pulleys I think is more squid than a turbo busa. More reliable too
not a craigslist bike anymore tho,,, cant beat the turbo busa for squid factor
I was thinking of getting one of the new Indian FTRs with the 17 inch wheels. Hopefully it would be good for squiding.
My buddy has one and absolutely swears by it. Says theyre a blast
I don’t like how they’re governed at 124mph
636 squid here, wound out the throttle for the first time the other day, felt like i was going into space, can't wait to do it again.
Looks like I’ll be starting on the triumph speed triple R!
This little squid is going on an adventure.
Yes, on an adventure to meet god
@@jeppeniller1106 I’ll take the highway to hell
I own a 15' 750 and 17' 1000 GSXR and the 750 for Canyon carving hands down just a different bike when it comes to handling. More user friendly and better steering feedback.
WOOOO YEAH BABYY THIS IS WHAT WEVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT WOOO
I just traded my 06 gsxr600 for a 04 gsxr1000 huge difference for street riding, the 1000 is a lot my uncomfortable for longer rides but oh boy I can’t believe how fast it is and how little I can be full throttle without having the wheel come up, the 600 I was comfortable and fun around town, not to say the 1000 isn’t fun around town, but you definitely can actually wind it out and use the power available unlike the 1000, either way though, I love my gsxr1000 and wouldn’t even consider trading back
I ride a 1300 Suzuki Hayabusa with a flashed ECU. It is an absolute MONSTER!!!
I have the k5 Hayabusa. I love the feel and the power .. and I use it as my daily. It's got some tune to it . So I love how much fun it is!!!
Insurance price is a HUGE factor in my bike choice. When getting my first bike, I was shocked that full coverage could vary anywhere from $200/year to $200/month. That's 12 TIMES more.
(Think I'll go neo-retro next. Should be decent there.)
Psh I’m 21 the insurance for like a 650 is like $250 and the damn like Yamaha R7 is $500+
Im 21 and got my kawa er-6 insured for like 8€ a month
Try paying almost $4000 for a Kawasaki Vulcan S in Toronto
my RE Meteor 350 was like 72 bucks per year
literally just got my first bike last thursday, im paying around 60 usd a month for a Street Triple 675 R 2009 for full coverage (in Sweden though)
It’s more fun to ride a slow bike fast than it is to ride a fast bike slow. So I have a ton of fun daily on my old 1983 cb650 nighthawk
Maybe I'm just conservative but I'm a beginner and just got a Honda CBR250R and I feel it's perfect to learn on, maybe I will upgrade next year.
I just got a 2004 R1 in excellent condition. Beautiful bike.
How the FZ-09 doesn't make this list is mind boggling...I'm still rock'n my 2005 ZRX 1200R that I bought new...
I rode with a guy that has the Honda Blackbird. He has a sticker on the side that says you have no friends as 200mph.
You'll wanna do planks with those crunches. Both halves of the spine. (I like to side plank also.)
I see the turbo busa and raise you a supercharged busa, thanks to JHS racing in the UK you can get a supercharger kit for the gen 2 hayabusa 360rwhp 190ft-lb of torque.
Them right there is life goals!
Nitrous or N.O.S., never nos or noz. Lol. Another great video! Thanks fellas!
I own a 19 ZX6R and my insurance is 1200 /yr with full coverage. Not to shabby if I say so myself.
The fact your channel is Yammie and there was no Yamaha's. . . Is an insult and makes me question your credibility
Luv uall . I'm a young guy almost 55yrs old. I've al had cruisers. My all time favorite cuse I'm lil guy was my super bud had a Honda cbr 600 yellow. Wat a joy. I loved dat bike. But he was scared of my Magna's. N dey for d time were powerfull n fast. But I love d 600 class.!! Rock on n hellow from hillbilly squib did
currently street squidding on a '19 zx14r abs se. loving it. comfortable, cheap insurance ( liability only and it is $165 total for a year for both the zx14r AND katana 600). it helps that i am old af.
