after owning it for almost 4 years my 2019 zx14r still scares the shiz out of me and I've been riding streetbikes (mostly Suzuki sportbikes such as GSXR's) since 1991
Yeah I had a 2011 and I absolutely loved the torque- It kinda messed me up because I want THAT in a lightweight 1000R or naked, but I just can't find it anywhere (at least not at a price I can afford). I paid 6K for mine and sold it for a couple hundred less because I needed the $$$ to fuel my speed addiction ASAP (CBR-1K)... Mine didn't come with a steering stabilizer and it was hairy with the front tire always just barely skimming the ground under acceleration... Get a steering stabilizer and save your underwear, maybe your pants, seat and plastic too, depending on how bad that first bar shake is.
Love that the first bike listed is the blackbird, my step dad has a 1998 carbureted stretched blackbird and it's fast fast. It has a rectifier/stator issue right now it's been sitting for maybe 5 years, he's supposed to fix it up and have me ride it at the drag track since I'm 160 lbs lighter than him
Got my 2014 1290 with 2500mi for 8700. Couldn’t be happier with it! This was my second one after totaling one as well. Liked it so much I deceived to get back on one. Also cross shopped some Ducati super bikes, Aprilias, MV etc. still liked the ktm the most.
I've got a 2015 Ninja 1000 ABS that I bought new. As sport bikes go, it's a jack-of-all-trades and a master-of-none. But I love it dearly and wouldn't trade it for a baker's dozen of turbo Busa's.
Im a tall guy and had the cbr1100xx as my first bike almost 10 years ago. Still own one today and even now its a beast and has more power than I have the balls to push it🤠
Started on a k5 750 back in 05 sheeesh. Bought a k7 and it was easily one of my favorite bikes ever, period. 06 636 was great also well balanced and would chew up 6hundreds on a run. Picking up an R1 in a few weeks can’t wait to throw some content up. Great vid💯💯💯🚀
Owned an 04 R1 for over a decade. What a machine!!! Highly recommended (04-06). Not one design issue mechanically. The frame/seat did get hot though (design flaw). Early R6's had transmission issues so watch out. Sold it and still regret it. I had my heart set on a GXR 750 while shopping, but couldn't find a used one in good condition. Almost bought a mint zx10r, but dealer wouldn't budge. Ended up with a too good to pass up R1 deal. Rocket on wheels, but was low on torque so you had to keep the rev's maxed out.
04 R1 right here. That Undertail Exhaust is Sexxxy as f*ck!!! 🔥🔥🔥 ECU flash, Toce Quad slash cut full system. Evil machine and I love it! Rather have it than a new one. 5valves per cylinder, flat plane Screams like a Banshee! Pushing around 205hp
I'm happy that you talked about the history of the vmax it's a special bike in the motorcycle world I hav a 89 vmax and a 05 zx12r You can probably see were I'm going with this They are both insane but both special in there own way
As a Ninja 1000 owner with 100k miles on it (Yes, 2014 and 100k miles on odo), it’s very quick, fun, fairly comfortable and cool. Also with abs and trc very safe I can say. But 2 things I don’t like is first one is its very heavy compared to any super sport, and second one is position is not the best for curves and performance riding. Only because of these 2 reasons I’m planning to pass to super sport again. But would I recommend? Hell yeah
I got my MC endorsement at the beginning of this year, at 30 years old, I come from a dirtbike background, I've been on them my entire life. I decided to pick up a 1990 Vmax as my first street bike and I cannot express the amount of joy that bike brings me, If you are competent on 2 wheels, I suggest giving one a try, smiles per dollar is thru the roof. The investment is worth every penny when you see the face of a young "squid" that just got gapped by a bike older than himself on his 600. (light to light, of course) It's truly the purest form of joy one can have.
Don't forget the ZX-14 (non R)... I'm trying as many used bikes as I can before I spring for my first ever new bike. Right now I have to say the 2011 CBR-1K is definitely the best yet, but the '02 R-1 I just got is VERY different from how imagined it (in the best ways possible) Now I just need to experience a Super Duke and I'll have my mind made up. So I'm pretty set on a nice and "reasonable" MT-10, or maybe the new Honda Hornet 1K (if it lives up to the hype and I can actually get one) and I'll keep one of these "old" super bikes for special occasion squid behavior.
I bought a 07 CBR1000RR brand new back in early 08 for $10,900. Its crazy to think used sport bikes are selling for more than that. Dang inflation hurts!!!
I recently bought myself a 1999 kawasaki zx9r for 1200 € . I had to change the fork seals and the tires . But now i have a super. Cheap 200kg bike with 140 hp that goes real 170 mph , measured with gps

What's your opinion of the Piaggio mp3 530? My understanding is that nothing beats this thing in the wet and the rain. I read an article about a race in Germany back in 2014 where the Piaggio passed the 1100 cc BMW after the second lap.

A 2008 GSXR1000 K8 are being sold for ~$7,5k near me. 3000 mile. Actually its "mil" (10km - 1 mil). Arata full exhaust and it is equipped with all the good stuff. Some carbon fiber on it. 185hp. No clue if this is a good price or not.
Aprilia rsv1000r/tuono r or rsv mille/ tuono mille should have been included. Bothe are fairly fast, can do 150+, and are around 6k or less. I bought one and have seen many for sale around that price point. They're one of the more reliable Italian bikes from the times period with their rotax v990rr engines. Stators are really the only big thing I've seen commonly fail.
I bought an '09 R1 for $6500 a couple years ago. Absolute fucking monster. Edit: lol i just finished the video. The rest of the story is i sold the R1 for a 1st gen super duke so ive had (have) two of the bikes on this list.
Good Vid, I wonder if you have ever tried the K1200s/K1300s BMW's? They are ~163hp and less than 8k or how about the competition to the KTM the Buell 1190sx?
still sleeping on the 06+ FZ-1; 130 hp at the rear wheel from a detuned R1 20 valve engine for around $5k all day long; more power for cheaper than quite a few options on this list

As a long term 90s VFR dad I’ve always been slightly tempted to get a Blackbird - it seems like a sort of mega-VFR.
I have 1290 gen1. It’s amazing, after I dropped 17 to 15 on front sprocket and added 1 on rear. It’s crazy, wheelies well now even with mtc on 😂
