How dare you say such things about the ADV dads! For your information, I drove through some leaves that were scattered in front of my driveway yesterday. I would have commented earlier but the wifi was down at starbux.
Yammie.. it's been about 4 years since I first started watching your channel and I'll be 31 on August 18th. Things would come up like fear, and money issues and whatever else life throws at you. This year the Stars aligned and I got my life on track .I just want to say you gave me the courage and motivation to get my license and I'm a proud owner of a Ninja 500 SE as of yesterday. Thank you so much! I also want to say it's not in Kawasaki green and I'm sorry but the red and black does look nice.
I love the 2000's naked bike look, i ride a 2000 bandit 600 s, but with the fairings removed (the frame is straight and not curved under the seat). I absolutely love the look and feel of these bikes. Just comfortable enough to use for longer trips, but still not too upright to prevent fun. Just the definition of a universal motorcycle. Only thing Yam got wrong is the gear. I would never cheap out on that. If I'm gonna wear it to protect me, i want to know it works. I'd much rather spend twice as much for quality gear. It saved my skin more than once.
Used to be an Ambiguous Naked Rider, but I'm quite happy now as an ADV Dad. I never head for trails as that's not my thing but they are just SO comfortable to ride, which means I go out and ride more often. Which is all that matters.
Man if you're enjoying life you're ahead of most out there! I'm a mid 30s sport bike atgatt new rider who likes speed but staying alive is a priority. I don't think I was covered in this video, but it was good!
ride the bike you like man. If you enjoy it, you have the right motorcycle. It’s your money. You don’t have to justify it to other people by taking it off the road.
Never been to a coffee shop and I do drive 5 miles down a dirt road on my way to work.. but not gonna lie I bought the biggest panniers and gps I could fit on my Himalayan and full matching riding gear lol.. I look like I’m gonna travel the world but I’m just going 30 miles down the highway to work lol.
I’m totally a middle-aged ADV rider. And while I do use my bike as it was intended…it was indeed intended as much for independent pour over single origin coffee shops.
I am a Harley guy (98 Road King Police) and I love it. I've owned everything from adventure bikes to 80's muscle bikes and everything in between. My preference will always be a big displacement cruiser. I know people tend to complain about the weight and size of a Harley but on a windy day or passing a big truck I'm glad I have that weight. I'll always enjoy acting foolish on a sport bike or dual sport but as far as every day, on a big cruiser is where I want to be. Great video as always Yam
I got my compass tattoo in 2003. I rode a 919 naked bike for a while. Now I have an ADV but live in Bankhead National Forrest and ride about as much gravel as asphalt.
When the designer Sportster guy was mentioned, the only thought that went through my head was "I've literally never seen one of those being ridden in the wild."
I wont die on my royal enfield hill. But damn did i get lucky in finding that brand. For the style. Power, and price. It was everything i wanted in my second and current bike
Yammie, Love the video. You roasted pretty much every kind of rider. I’d consider myself a mix of several you mentioned. 90% ATGATT. I ride a semi naked mid level Honda. I ride alone and am painfully cautious. I’ve never been down in 40 years of riding. I sort of like to hang out and talk to bike guys but I can’t relate to squids or H-D guys. Love your videos! Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
i have been riding streetbikes since 1991 and i am a bit of alot of those types. i was "brand loyal" to suzuki for about 30 years. now i ride (and love) my 2019 zx14r. i have been riding with different helmet covers like pikachu, kermit the frog and luigi for years. i wear a full faced helmet, t-shirt, sweat pants and slip-on sneakers.
Cursed cafe racer 😁😁😁😁 Not exactly a cafe racer, but in Texas we had a guy in our group that was ALWAYS late because his old springer had broken valve springs, or broken valves, or bad points, or bad jets, or... Everywhere he went, dude basically kept an entire motorcycle's worth of spare parts in his gigantic backpack (not saddle bags) because something *would* break. We kept telling him that with the money he spent on parts he could just buy a new bike. He wouldn't hear it.
Because the two kinds of riders are the ones who've been down(myself) and the ones who are going to go down. I was actually lucky enough to survive a T-Bone accident by a red light runner when I was 18 and ironically what saved me was my buddy and me taking off on our green light doing wheelies. My buddy was a bike length ahead and was barely missed. Had my front wheel been on the ground I would have ended up underneath the car instead of rolling off the hood and fender. I only ended up with one big swollen calf muscle.
You finally did one for me. I am for sure the ambiguous naked bike guy. I'm on a 2015 FZ1. The Yamaha badges got nixed for carbon fiber, but it's still got the FZ1 on the front fairing. Not that, that means much to anyone. A upside is it's a Gen 2, so I didn't have to get the 3ft long slip-on.
I swear you nailed it with the FZ6... that be me, all black gear, black bike always riding solo xD missed me on the unnamed brands tho, top to bottom Icon

Never seen the cookie monster covers, but did see a vinyl Saw doll. The brand purists are definitely true. Especially among Suzuki riders. Most everyone else says something along the lines of as long as it makes you happy more power to you. That being said most people that ride also have another vehicle to get around if needed, so it's not as big a deal if it isn't ultra reliable.
52 years riding/racing 43 street I love my Bandit 1200 it does everything well AVD touring sport. 23 years and still can't find anything I want to buy over it. On my way home the other day I had a gsxr600 all sticker bombed and a dude in a tank top and shorts wearing converse and no gloves pull up next to me and my head almost popped from laughter

The ADV Riders in front of Starbucks (and yes it is a big BMW GS) - ok I have never been in Starbucks (or in front) nor any other coffee shop - but the aspect of the ADV rider that is not hitting the trails - that is me. In my defense I really make no pretense and have been known to put Conti Road Attacks on my ADV bike. I have always thought of it as a big comfy standard. The Ambiguous Naked Guy - Yeah, I think of my bike more as a naked bike than an ADV. And while I get good quality gear - it is usually used on ebay or from Motorcycle closeouts and nothing matches.
Hey! I got a couple of semi-mentions. A) I'm the guy who slapped almost the buy-price of my bike into mods - just to make it fit my "vision". And B) I'm the ADV guy who don't spend time at Starbucks - I'm far to busy whipping the bejeezus out of gravel loops and scaring myself shitless going sideways through corners. I fucking love my bike - best money ever spent.
Sory I love my sportster, as for the filter on the side. Thats where they go, thats where the intake is. I’ve been riding since ‘84 when I got a kz 750
Don't think they are hated , I drove one of those black french ones that the motor is on the front wheel an you lower it down to start an ride forget the name was a long time ago , I rode that to college for years and around town , cost nothing ten cents of gas an root around in the garbage can for oil left in cans people had bought .
You kinda talked about with the last one, but oh boy is there room for 1 more type - the guy living in the city but wearing full racing gear even when doing 5-10 minute trips to work somewhere downtown and wants everyone to think that he's the baddest racer to walk the earth. And then there's the type that never shuts up about riding a bike and makes it their whole personality.
As someone who rides an Aprilia RSV Mille from 2001, I appreciate all the slander. Now imagine combining the brand snob with the ATGATT rider. What an unholy monster to behold
i wasnt expecting the ambiguous naked bike to be here but i laughed hard as hell as it perfectly described me lmao my other bike is the cafe racer teen though, just not full cafe, but everything else is true about buying a 80s bike for $200 in my senior year
Please, I prefer the term "anonymous" over "ambiguous". Makes me think of the merchant from RE4, but on a bike. It's all I've aspired to be as a rider. Most of the quests I give are fetch-quests.

Thanks brother, you make me laugh, it's just what the doctor ordered.
As someone who rides an Aprilia RSV Mille from 2001, I appreciate all the slander.
Now imagine combining the brand snob with the ATGATT rider. What an unholy monster to behold
Good rant .
in england wearing cooky monster covers gets you beat up and cover inserted where the sun dont shine and at sixty yo happy being a squid on a zx6r
Have no fear, The R9 is near! 💪
i wasnt expecting the ambiguous naked bike to be here but i laughed hard as hell as it perfectly described me lmao
my other bike is the cafe racer teen though, just not full cafe, but everything else is true about buying a 80s bike for $200 in my senior year
5:00 - 5:45 I've never been called out so hard in 45 seconds
Please, I prefer the term "anonymous" over "ambiguous". Makes me think of the merchant from RE4, but on a bike.
It's all I've aspired to be as a rider. Most of the quests I give are fetch-quests.
This. I dream of the day I get to ride around looking like a cyberpunk NPC but unfortunately Texas summers disagree
I love my bandit Streetfighter
