Hey everyone. There has been a lot of commentary about the 365 (we have a presentation on it). The 365 is a striker action with a very light trigger pull, lighter than some single actions I have fired. In my opinion it has a higher chance of negligent discharge due to unintentional finger on the trigger than other strikers like most Glocks. So... If you get a 365 make sure you carry it in the proper holster that covers the trigger and I would prefer the version of the 365 that has the manual safety.
Very true, I have the XL. A holster that covers the trigger is a MUST. It is a very light trigger for a striker fire. It makes shooting it quite nice though.
Although it would be unlikely somebody would be able to take your handgun, the Blackhawk has the pro of if you arent familiar with guns it is somewhat complex to operate. So somebody who might take it may not be able to use it in their favor.

Just once I want to see Paul say, "I invite you to skip ahead to where you see me in the low ready with a handgun." (Pause) "Nah, just kidding. Let's get to shooting!" But I'll never skip one of his "boring" parts. I'm here to learn, not just watch someone shoot better than I ever will.
Where I live people don't even have guns, yet I still enjoy listening to harrel I don't know what it is he's just so professional in all his videos and he doesn't tolerate any BS.
When he says "Beretta 92FS caliber 9x19 it's got a capacity of 15 plus 1, it's a double to single action autoloader, it's accurate and it's supremely reliable" I'm like: "Ah yes. The Samurai's Edge."
@@clintsingleton3846 The 92FS and the P226 both passed all the military testing. They’re both great pistol designs. Having shot both on several occasions, I prefer the Beretta. It helps if the one you’re shooting isn’t a worn out, beat up, old, unmaintained one.
@@clintsingleton3846 worth noting that beretta produces guns in both Italy and the US, and that the Italian ones are known for high quality but beretta USA is infamous for churning out a lot of crap. Beretta USA supplied some of our military M9s, so I think between that and the sheer amount of time they were being used and not replaced goes a long way towards explaining why so many people have such diverse opinions on it with very little middle ground.
@@clintsingleton3846 I enjoyed shooting it while I was in. A lot of them are really beat up and not maintained properly though, that's more of a marine issue than it is an issue with the pistol itself lol
My granddaughter listened to Paul Harrell "the boring part where I talk" while in the womb. Im happy to report she will be graduating marine corps basic training soon, just in time for her 6th birthday.
Poor Paul. He has to spend the first minute and a half explaining stuff because he knows if he doesn't he'll get flooded with hate comments. You rock, Paul. Keep up the good work.
Then people spam comments saying “ACKSHULLEE HES STILL RECOMMENDING GUNS STILL BY USING BLANK BLANK BLANK” even though he shows such a diverse amount of guns and explains so many contextual bits that shooters may not know about
@lesflynn4455 dunno abt that however fellow commenters could report and yt in my experience has been proficient all of that said the hate mails i believe is constant.
When Paul says "This is the boring part": It's the part I should pay attention to. When Paul says "This is NOT a recommendation" : I take it as a recommendation.
Well that's because they are recommendations. I understand Paul doesn't want to present his opinions as facts or get into arguments with people over them and that's why he gives those disclaimers, but just a glimpse at a dictionary shows us: recommend put forward (someone or something) with approval as being suitable for a particular purpose or role. That describes the video pretty accurately. Saying it's "not a recommendation" while giving recommendations is bit of a cop out, like having your cake and eating it too. I get why he'd do it, but I think the "my training, my experience..." disclaimer should be sufficient by itself.
Everyone's needs are different. I live in Texas, so my XDM 9mm 3.8 compact is not the best carry gun for me, as I am thin, usually wear light clothes. It prints loudly and its not very light in my opinion. It is however accurate and very reliable. It will work great in the winter when I'll actually carry it everywhere.
@@poika22 Hey poika, these are NOT recommendations. I'm showing the guns that I have and not suggesting that you should buy any of them. Did you really think I was suggesting that you should buy a Steyr?
Paul Harrell talking about guns reminds me of the Blues Brothers... The Beretta 92fs has a cop trigger, 9mm power plant, its got cop grips, cop barrel, cop slide, its a model made after +p so it'll run good on any ammo.
His objectivity will always be a go to for me. When I what to learn more,or improve my shooting, or attitude, I search his videos and always find something helpful. Thank you Paul.
My profession was in mental health so I understand how likely this one could be...LOL...I did have my life threatened more than once by folks who thought I was someone else when they were psychotic...
I make my living as a locksmith. You'd be surprised at the number of clients I've had (widely spread out over Texas and New Mexico) that have the same story about little people that live in their ceiling coming down and stealing their keys during the night. I've even had a mother/daughter tag team that lined their rooms with foil to keep out the CIA's "listening rays" and wanting high security locks to keep the CIA and drug cartels from picking their locks.Yeah, these people are out there, and not few and far between. And don't even get me started about the lady with little people living in her sofa who had a "doctor" poop in her hands while performing an operation at her dining room table. True stories.
I learned early on, carry the largest gun that you will actually carry and a gun you shoot well. Dress around the gun and make sure you have a good belt and holster. So here I am in the Deep South and carry a stainless commander size 1911 every day with two extra mags and have no issues with concealment or being uncomfortable. For many years my family didn’t even know I carried a gun let alone ole slabsides, but I like it and I’m confident with it and that goes a long way over how many rounds the mag holds.

An all-steel Commander is my carry of choice as well.
I carry a 1911 Colt XSE open and concealed. I've done so for the last 20 years. Prior to Texas implementing our CHL, I was carrying a .44mag Redhawk about the farm, and later concealed. But with a 7.5" barrel, it was pretty obvious when carrying in a shoulder holster.
That's great that it works for you. I do carry a full size most of the time. There have been times where if I got caught with a gun would have meant I would be fired, even though it wasn't illegal, it was against company policy. Always a good thing to have a small option, even when preference is for bigger.
I LOVE my government model Colt. I live in CT, so mag capacity is of no consequence. The slim design makes it easy to conceal even with my slight frame and the thing is accurate as heck.
Am I the only one who finds the sections where Paul shoots the boring ones? I like where he explains what he thinks and his justification for his choices more.
I like the meat target. The chronograph bores me silly. I trust him to give me the results, I don't need them called off one at a time for ten or forty or more shots.
Paul, I'm glad you addressed the changing scenarios we are seeing, and why larger capacity firearms are becoming more necessary for the average civilian. To many loudmouths out there claiming "If you can't fix it with 6 rounds, you don't deserve to fix it" type things. Thankfully, you aren't one of them. Praying for a full recovery for you. His opinion is based on His training, His education, His experience, and different people have different experiences so they have different opinions, and He makes no claim that His opinion has its origin in the mind of greatness. That should cover it. As an aside, I think capitalizing the personal pronouns is proper for Gods in any field, no?

@@jackbrink9898 I cant trust .40 ever since I had an entire box not penetrate a metal 55 gallon drum, would it still punch through a person still? yes, but out of a 16" PCC it was a tough pill to swallow. I choose 9mm because of how common it is. I can order a few boxes of non jacketed lead easier than hoping the store has a 20 round box in stock. Different strokes though, if something can stop a 9mm it will stop a .40 or .45
Hearing him ramble off lists of ammunition without stuttering is always impressive to me, I'd read it off the box and probably still not be able to say it as fast as harrel can
kiloscott Thanks, genius. Pretty sure I know that. I’ve heard him say it 100 times. The point is his unique ability to know this stuff and recite it from memory. Not 2 out of 100 professional firearms instructors can do it like he does.

I feel like the "Go with what you know" tip can actually be visually observed in this video. Even across recommended handguns, it seems like Paul's confidence with the Baretta platform can be seen in real time. Time between shots, target acquisition, and posture seem to be so comfortable he almost starts actions before the previous one has finished, regardless of caliber, like he gets into position before the gun itself quite gets there. The differences might be individually negligible, but for this to be something visible in a professional would suggest to me a greater overall benefit for people who are less familiar with firearms in general.
*Jackets Paul has several, like a cartoon character opening his wardrobe. **g** There is a video specifically on the jackets. He has one for his black powder shooting where he can just put it on and has all he needs. Just go to his channel page and search with the loupe for "jacket".

People have to adjust to their circumstances. My clothing (uniform) and work make having anything but a tiny pistol on my person impossible. My hands are simply too big to allow me to use a tiny pistol. Hell, my friend showed me a .380 he has, and was wondering if it would be the right thing to use to put down his sick dog. He was thinking about doing a double tap on the back of the dog's neck. He wanted me to go along with him to do the job if he couldn't bring himself to pull the trigger. As such, I tried the pistol in my hand and was very uncomfortable with trying to grip it and work the trigger. I also was uncomfortable with the idea of trying to instantly kill the dog with FMJ ammo out of the little cartridge. I told him we'd use a better choice for the job, and introduced him to my Smith and Wesson 4506 and the Glaser Safety Slugs. I told him that it would be the best choice for the job at hand, and it was. A single round into the back of the head put the dog out of his misery in half an instant. My friend was concerned that there could be more suffering from a bad shot placement, which is why he was thinking about the double tap with the .380 and FMJ ammo. At the moment of truth, the Glaser did its job. Like switching off a light. It's something I took no pleasure in doing, but it's something I was able to do by blocking out the emotions and going to a matter of fact, job that had to be done, and done right attitude. We completed the job with a short burial and returned home. I kept my emotions in check, while my friend drove home. He was very mixed in his own emotions. I thought he might break down over the death of his dog, but he didn't at that time. He was more impressed than I expected with the killing performance. He expected some type of suffering response to the shot. The instant shutdown surprised him. He was extremely relieved that there was no suffering beyond the constant pain from an inoperable tumor.

I have a couple of college degrees. I conducted numerous instructional courses to professionals in how to be subject matter experts, I have attended many short and long courses in technical subjects related to my profession. I, also, attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where I received a LOT of instruction in field artillery, and yes I graduated and went to Vietnam in 1970 as a 2nd Lt. So not only do I have a LOT of experience in classroom and field instruction, I know a lot about guns. I was a forward observer in Nam. I say all of that as a way of qualifying what I have to say. Paul Harrell is one of the BEST instructors I have ever heard. I’ve watched dozens of his videos over the years, and no one is better. I had a few instructors in the military that were close to him, if not his equal, and they had very similar presentation styles. The first one was a drill sergeant in basic training (introduction to the M14), another was a staff sergeant in advanced individual training (computing firing data for howitzers), and the other two were both retired majors who taught a sub-course in the mechanical functioning of the self propelled 155 howitzer. I had some excellent college professors, but none at Paul’s level. I would advise anyone thinking of making instructional videos to watch all of Paul’s videos.

If you can battle umbrella and the t/g virus with the beretta than it’s good enough for me
@@clintsingleton3846 The 92FS and the P226 both passed all the military testing.

When Paul says "This is the boring part": It's the part I should pay attention to. When Paul says "This is NOT a recommendation" : I take it as a recommendation.
Well that's because they are recommendations. I understand Paul doesn't want to present his opinions as facts or get into arguments with people over them and that's why he gives those disclaimers, but just a glimpse at a dictionary shows us:
recommend
put forward (someone or something) with approval as being suitable for a particular purpose or role.
That describes the video pretty accurately. Saying it's "not a recommendation" while giving recommendations is bit of a cop out, like having your cake and eating it too. I get why he'd do it, but I think the "my training, my experience..." disclaimer should be sufficient by itself.
Treat the main stream news like that and you will be better off.
It's tough code but you cracked it!
Everyone's needs are different. I live in Texas, so my XDM 9mm 3.8 compact is not the best carry gun for me, as I am thin, usually wear light clothes. Some lives are more exciting than others.
True stories.
you joke but I've had it happen...scary encounter
I learned early on, carry the largest gun that you will actually carry and a gun you shoot well. Dress around the gun and make sure you have a good belt and holster. So here I am in the Deep South and carry a stainless commander size 1911 every day with two extra mags and have no issues with concealment or being uncomfortable. For many years my family didn’t even know I carried a gun let alone ole slabsides, but I like it and I’m confident with it and that goes a long way over how many rounds the mag holds.
An all-steel Commander is my carry of choice as well.
Also in Deep South on a long sandbar. I selected pocket carry for overall comfort and convenience.

The term "Program compliance" has always stuck with me... it's why having a gun in my waistband in second nature now. Thank you PH!

Booge Nautilus i don't think any commies are running in the election.
Booge Nautilus name me a single one. there's not a single one up for election or in office, & even those that have center-left leaning ideas have don't have the numbers to make any impact. your government is getting you to focus on a cultural split & push "otherness" to distract you from the fact that the modern democratic & republican party are the same party when it comes to fiscal matters, & they're pushing legislation left & right to mess both you & i & everyone else that's middle class or lower around.
TheWin200000 that is absolute nonsense. do you know what communism is? where is there a united push for communism happening? the government wants us to focus on minorities to blame or push the myth that lazy people on welfare are the problem. every single person on welfare combined is a drop in the bucket compared to the tax cuts & subsidies to big business. the only minority you need to be worried about are elites. who do you think pays for all those corporate bailouts? we, the people do. who do you think pays for the healthcare of the senate who has been out of session or "not working" more than they have this year, yet still getting paid? we, the people do.
it's time we realize that the government is the one who's lapping up all of our taxes & distributing it amongst themselves & lobbyists & not taking care of the public, while they spin a narrative of "commies in the streets" as a boogeyman to keep everyone busy while they laugh all the way to the bank.
TheWin200000 antifa has less than a few hundred members across the country with no leadership, no plan, no structure. not a single antifa member has been arrested during these protests/riots. BLM movement is almost entirely peaceful protesters with a few terrible destructive rioters. all i'm saying is those two groups are blown way out of proportion. neither of them have the agenda or infrastructure to change anything. they literally pose a zero percent threat to anything of consequence. i don't know where you live, but having visited portland, seattle, los angeles, new orleans, nashville, louisville, & chicago this last month - these little shows are minuscule compared to what mainstream media is showing. no one's replacing our two party system anytime soon. my whole point is to help shed some light on this Red Scare 2.0 that media is pushing. it's propaganda. it's absolutely false. there's no coherent communist agenda arising in our country. it's not worth focusing on or fearing. we need to be putting all our attention on our three branches of government that are harming all of us.

What is best about Paul's videos is that he actually teaches people the thought process of selecting a particular gun.
Great content. Absolutely love the quick real testing/info. No wasted time, but also make sure to get all of the important points across. Everyone is thankful for the time you give to the us.
You're a mind reader! I was just considering this issue yesterday and thinking that high capacity has become much more important. Glad I'm not alone in that thinking. Thanks much Paul!!
Thank you for addressing the CHANGED ISSUE
@Simply The Best WE DIDN’T DO EAR PROTECTION IN THE 60’S!
The "boring" parts are full of knowledge. I like it personally
I know its not BRAND NEW but I recently bought a CZ P09 and man o man what a beaut and sweet shooter
Paul's top advice: that micro .32acp in your pocket is better than that Golden Deagle you left at home.
A .17HMR, .22LR or .25ACP through the pharynx is a whole lot more effective than a .50AE six inches over the target's head, and also less dangerous to everyone else within about two miles behind the target.
Ohhhhhhh the golden deagle sooo nice though hahaha
@Jimmy Kimmel 22lr killed many a people.
Well that is true.
@@FishHeadly1 .22 has killed more people than all other cartridges combined.
Paul you talking isn't the boring part. You talking is the most informative part of the video. Please keep up the FANTASTIC reviews.
I saw the writing on the wall in mid March. I have made more investment in arms and ammo in the last 5 months than I have in the past 29 years combined, I'll be 50 this year.
Man, I *wish* I had known how bad it would get. I don't think I would have acquired any more arms, but I *definitely* would have stocked up on ammo... :-(
I've been buying ammo every payday. Its getting harder to find it.
@@Future-Preps35 I've got a snag on more 5.56 myself. Fortunately I bought some from a widow when her husband passed a few months ago but you can never have too much. It's getting old fast trying to hit the shops a couple times a week for handgun ammo. Hopefully my local shop gets my .357 in tomorrow or monday.

I spent a small fortune last year as ammo prices dropped, figuring if they went even lower I'd buy even more. Those prices were too good to pass up.
Best money I've ever spent.
If knew it was going to get this bad I would have bought ten times what I did, and I spent a lot.
A few guys I know could supply a rifleman company in the field with ammunition for a month, all by themselves, no problem.
I got nothing compared to them.

Always buy ammo when it's not in demand.
I really like how you demonstrated the idea of "reload, then reasses" in your demonstrations.
Every Thursday is a good Thursday thanks to a Paul Harell upload. I'm going to enjoy this over a nice drink later!
My favorite firearm instructor.
This solves it...I know whos buying up all the 9mm ammo
It is so annoying that people are buying up all of the 5.56, .223 and 9mm. Ironically, the only calibers available are obscure or wildcat. 9mm is flying off the shelves while 45 GAP is collecting dust. I also saw several boxes of .243 WSSM that have not moved probably since they were put there. While I'd love to get a .243 WSSM upper, the price is insane. It's a damn good round but the price..... You could buy yourself a 1000-yard tack driver for that.
Sorry 'bout that.
This is a throw back, only the old folks will get this..... Paul Harrell is this generations E F Hutton, when E F Hutton talks everybody listens
Old school!
I’m 70, remember it well.
I would only add, “when Paul talks, anyone with good sense listens.”
You had me at Pervo-Rapo-Murderer. My recent switch to a five shot revolver reflects your description of the need for magazine capacity.
Get three more snubbies, twenty rounds between reloads.
Thanks for existing Paul. This channel has really helped me out alot and got me really into firearms to the point where i applied to companies and hope to contribute to the engineering behind them
I got my dad a ruger vaquero for father's day. It shoots .45lc, but swap the cylinder out and it's a. 45acp. He likes his, I like mine, we always have ammo from our carbines to feed our pistols.
I've been trying to get one of these in CA. I have a fully paid ordered placed with a local gun shop and hoping for availability soon.
Paul: *Upolads video*
Shasta bottle: *Hides*
Paul Harrell + a field of wildflowers = some nice _pistils._
At least a few people got it ;)
I see what you did there!
Nice pun.
This channel has great stamen power.
Paul, I was gifted by my late uncle a Ruger bear cat revolver in 22 cal it was my first pistol and no doubt a huge fan of the classics. THANK YOU!!
I always love when Paul releases a new video. Keep up the great work, Paul and team.
"The Yankee Marshall likes to talk about politics...Johnny B likes to talk about politics- and HES good at it..." Paul once again restores my confidence in mankind.
Jeff Schmoke Anybody else stop watching the crankee Marsha about a month ago?
@@articwhite653 When I realized what a far left imbecile that Yank-me MarSHILL clown is, I stopped watching him.
@@articwhite653 I stopped watching him awhile ago.
Politics 🤢
Me: I just want to shoot and grill.
@@articwhite653 I started watching him when my interest in guns was renewed. I watched 2-3 episodes and stopped because he is a douchebag.
It appears I'm not alone when I say, the "boring part where I talk" is my favorite part. I'm here for the insight, knowledge and opinions!
Aw man! I came here expecting bimbo models in skimpy costumes, bearded men, and liquor! :)
Paul, Times and technology will change but your work remains timeless.
Your humbleness is admirable. Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge.
Interesting. None of those would have made my top five, but I have a different set of experiences and live in different circumstances than Paul. That said, I wouldn't feel screwed with any of Paul's choices. IMO, the most important thing to take away from this is his thought process. If you use the same thought process in selecting your handgun, you will make a good choice.
If Paul were to give a lecture on watching paint dry, I would be elbowing my way to the front row seats!!!
Time for a refresh for 2023. Love to get your view of the new foldable S&W carbine 9mm too.
"I like the classics" GOOD FOR YOU! Finely somebody that sees the beauty of metal guns. A lot of new plastic guns work great (glocks) and are very dependable, but they all look alike. They are like a bunch of kids from the same family. Real beauty is in the old steel guns that have a history.
