I grew up in California believing guns were scary and evil. Three years ago I started dating someone who enjoys shooting, and made me watch Paul Harrell's videos with him to understand gun basics and how to shoot. Watching Paul Harrell got me into guns, shooting, and I went from fearing guns to owning 6 of my own, including a Beretta 92. I met Paul Harrell at a gun show at Yard Birds in Chehalis, and without even a pause he handed me a gun and said "this one is for you". I will never forget that. I have a shot thru Queen of Diamonds playing card with his signature framed on my fridge, from that day. Paul might not make the most humorous videos like Mr Thumb and Co, but his videos are incredibly knowledgeable, impactful, and educational, and I will continue to watch them as I continue to learn too.

Paul's reach goes beyond the US gun community. I'm from England, I'd never really thought much about firearms beyond COD but in lockdown 'the algorithm' dropped a couple of Paul's videos my way. I thought 'here we go, another American gun enthusiast video' but then watched one. The guy on screen with a cheesy intro and some epic slacks started out by apologising for a speech impediment but then went on to clearly and eloquently educate and entertain me for about half an hour! I was taken aback. So I watched a couple more. Where the difference lies with Paul is that in addition to being (what you call) an expert, he avoids opinion and dogma and is considered and scientific. It made me realise that I could find the topic fascinating - both the engineering aspect and the human aspect (the cultural differences in the attitudes to firearms). So cheers Paul, I've learnt a great deal from you and enjoyed your videos - I raise a pint to you.

Paul Harrell is a modern age philosopher, really the industrial age Hegel. Hegel connected idealism & metaphysics to materialism & history, while Paul does his version of the same by connecting theory to practice.

I remember being in Detroit, MI during COVID and wanting to get my CCW license. The class was mostly black with a black former Marine instructor, but along with myself and a father and son we were the only white guys in the room. Nevertheless, the instructor plays one of Paul's early videos on handgun safety. I smile and say "Hey, it's Paul! I love that guy!" To which about half the room, including the instructor, also laughed and smiled saying they've seen his videos too. The instructor then replied "I wouldn't play his video in my class if I didn't think he knew what he was doing."
Your videos have reached many people of very different backgrounds to empower themselves for self-defense. I wish you a swift recovery and know that when the end comes (hopefully MANY more years from now), as it will for us all eventually, your legacy of firearm instruction and commitment to personal empowerment will always live on and continue to teach millions of people long after all of us are gone.

I lost my dad a month ago to stage 4 cancer that was discovered 12 days before he died. All of us including him thought he was just extremely sick and was losing weight because he had skipped a few meals due to his illness. I checked up on him on his birthday morning before I went to work, but didn't want to wake him. That day while I was at work, he suffered a stroke and was taken to the ER via ambulance. After the recovery wasn't going as planned they did an ultrasound and discovered a mass in his liver. After that they continued to find more, kidney, pelvis, spine, and eventually where it started in his lung. My dad smoked tabbaco from 15 to 57, and had COPD. Watching him fight from a hospital bed with hallucinations and confusion from malnutrition, and try to relearn how to swallow, and sit up, only to see him begin to decline, still hoping for some sort of improvement, only for the pain to get so severe he had to be medicated beyond any form of consciousness. Then to go home at 4 am, and come back to find that he had already passed. The day that hit me the most was the day the cancer was announced. Cancer, bloody cancer sucks man. I'm almost 24, and I know my parents had me late in life, but my dad was 67, he should have had atleast 10 more years minimum. But fricken cigarettes, and cancer took all of that away in just a few short years. They knew something was wrong with his liver in early 2021, but the whole world panicked over a strange new flu from china, and the medical field apparently wanted to put the tests for my dad on the back burner, and focus on the response. Then after they started allowing them again my dad was too afraid to check after that. 12 fricken days. Thats all I had to know he had cancer, thats the only advice I knew that my dad's "illness" wasn't just a bad flu. If there already is a cure, that people are hiding because there is no money in it, like some say, I hope they realize someday the damage they caused and are horrified by what they have done, because cancer is the worst. To watch someones own body fight with itself until the body becomes so weak from the cancer stealing most of the resources that even their meals are mostly wasted. For a rouge cell to turn into a nutrients theif that sucks the life out of them. It's a horrible fate. If there is anyone reading this that is putting of quitting the tabbaco, or even vapes. This is your moment. Christ still chose to love you, He still chose to die for you, inspite of yourself. You don't need them anymore. You have freedom in Him. My heart goes out to Mr. Harrell and his family. Cancer is the absolute worst. The only solace I really have in this life is, that there is a God, He is good, and He will hold the enemy, lucifer responsible for all the evil he has caused, as he was the one who brought sin and death into this world. People may make choices, but he temps them into the wrong choice. And he will awnser for the suffering he has caused. My prayers are with Harrell and his family. Cancer is an awful parasite.

Mr. Harrell, I'm 30 years old as of January 2024, and I've watched you since I was at least 22, if not earlier. You were one of the foundations of my firearms knowledge and have positively benefited me in ways that no one else could have. You were the only source of firearms and tactics information that has been infallible for me. I returned to your videos year after year because I knew that, even if I had an understanding of the subject material, I was bound to learn something new or be exposed to a new perspective I hadn't considered before. You have my trust, and for that, my respect and attention in all things. G. K. Chesterton once said that the object of an open mind is the same as a mouth, that you open it with the intent to shut it upon something solid. I knew that when you had something to say, it was worth pondering, and that was invaluable to me as a young man.
