hey PAUL..., you are Not just guns Expert... but a Comedian also, Haaahaaa and that is very good. I am a New guns owner because of COVID 19 Crabs. Thanks for Advices
I bought a Bersa thunder 380 semi auto 3 years but never practice.
Now, since i have watching many Videos and i bought M&P 22 compact for targets practice.
But you are For REAL.... I totally agree

@@marypittman4908 Hey Mary, You're right, but it wasn't marked on the gun, so it took more evaluation than just a trip to the range.
I have never seen a person so full of knowledge and so devoid of toxic ego. Thank you Paul. I love your channel.
Thumbs up on your comment. I agree.
Yes! His videos are the most information-dense I've ever seen and completely unambiguous.
That's why I would take advice from Paul over pretty much any other RUclipsr who has similar content. No ego, just straight forward information. He doesn't try to pass himself off as Rambo, Super Secret Squirrel Agent Orange, Delta Ranger SEAL Recon Commando action guy.
And as a plus, he's entertaining.
Agreed. It's nice to learn from a guy like this.

To any new gun owners or prospective owners: Welcome to the community. This channel is one of the best.
And don't be intimidated most people are usually very nice.
Agreed
Paul has to be one of the best if not the best spoken civilian situational firearm defense training channels on RUclips, period. Like a Glock trigger pull is the same every time, so is Paul's attitude and demeanor. Just remember, he is a trained professional. He has only good advice to offer, and some serious accuracy burned into his muscle memory. Also, Oregonians, are generally speaking fantastic people, I may be a little bias growing up in Washington with a lot of the family in Prineville Or.
Hopefully they find this channel and learn something !
Good evening my fellow first time buyers!
Love Paul's channel...no tacti-tats, no tacti-beard, no tacti-lingo...he's like the Bob Ross of gun channels.
I like Bob Ross
Its a breath of fresh air. No promoting the weekend warrior life style.
Right here we have maybe another little happy soda jug
Idk if hed say, "There are no mistakes, only happy accidents" 😂
Who cares if someone has tattoos or breads or not?
He's like the world's most patient Dad teaching his kid about the fundamentals of firearms. He's easy to understand, doesn't talk down to you, and he educates you in such a way that you come away feeling like you've actually learned something useful, and genuinely want to learn more.

Kudos Paul....
you've successfully convinced me stay with what you know....and simplicity and capacity...

Well hello bastiat, how's the fight against the government going ?
He only talks down to fools and idiots, but it's amusing to say the least.
To any new people here: listen closely, Paul is probably the most knowledgeable firearm person online.
I would amend that slightly from the most knowledgeable to the most useful.
@@craigbenz4835 Ian McCollum is super skilled too.
Yeah, I second the other guy. Ian McCollum is the most knowledgeable. Paul just gives the most solid, practical advice.
Real Honesty with real first hand knowledge
@@russetwolf13 : I agree.
My wife: "why are you watching such a boring new gun owner video you've been shooting forever?"

Actually I did learn 1 thing. I had no idea about decock levers. I never fired that kind of gun so I assumed it's a manual safety

@Matt KissMyassSocialist OK, so how does the over under work? ;)
To those newbies: this is a real treat! Paul NEVER introduces himself. He is too awesome and modest to do so.
He's too busy warping time and mass with that jacket to introduce himself in most cases; Walking around with an unnoticeable armory takes some effort :p
I've been watching his videos for a while and at one point I even searched earlier videos just to find one where he pronounces his last name, because I wanted to talk to my gun friend about him but I didn't know how to pronounce his last name correctly
Although the video where he scolded mr mouth(gun nuts) was about 1 of the best vids i have seen from PH. The last 10 minutes of that video was about as sharp as sharp could be,he cut dat happy juiced snot nosed pup 10 ways from sunday.
Truly a man out standing in his field.

Who else is intimately familiar with the firearms he mentioned here, but stuck around because Paul's videos are just awesome to watch?
Always enjoy his videos and learn something every time.

I wanted to learn the best ways to explain them to newbies. I learned a lot

And this is why Paul’s awesome! He doesn’t tout his accolades and he doesn’t talk down to me as a comparatively new enthusiast.
He's good like that. 👍
He also keeps politics strictly out of the presentations. Factual, informative videos need no political spin.
He's excellent. Also, try Chris Baker at Lucky Gunner.
@#1 Mawg I haven't ordered from them recently, but I have had a couple thousand rounds from them reach my door. I'd just call them if you'd like to buy some ammo right now. I bet they're operating.
Top quality channel. Number one for me with Mr. Jerry Miculek. He always keeps his videos informative and focused on the topic, with a little taste of eighties, very well done, Paul! 👍🏻
Did not pick up a speech impediment. Either he is a perfectionist, or it was a technique to make sure we listen to every word. Genius.
He's a perfectionist. From what people say about him he indeed had a speech impediment.
@@jumpkickman1993 are you trying to say its both?
Paul does speak a little slower. He chooses his words with care and uses them very precisely. Something which people who've overcome their speech impediment often do.
27:18 has a very slight pause before the word pistol
He also considers the way he pronounces words like barrel as "burral" a speech impediment.
RIP, had to rewatch, this helped so much in 2020
Paul, as a 70+ vet (USA RVN) shooting for at least 60 of those years I still found this lesson informative and useful. Thanks for your 20+ uniformed service years and especially for your continued service as a RUclips gun guru. Semper fi, mac.
I catch most of Paul's vids and the bit where the pump action locked him out still taught me something.
shooting for a long time does not equate to any level of knowledge or skill. one example would be an 80 year old female who has been driving for more than 60 years who doesn't know the first thing about automobiles and at no point in her life was able to parallel park

Even when most of us n the gun community want to shout "I told you so" at the folks who have become suddenly enthusiastic about guns, Paul comes through as a true ambassador and a great role model for us all. We should welcome them and offer our knowledge humbly, that they might vote with us in the near future.
Hard to get over the absolute dumbassery we've had to put up with over the years from Obama to Oprah.
@@arnox4554 Easy be an informed, calm, ambassador like Paul.

When this is over some might go back to their previous life, but some wont.
Yes,to get them to vote with us gun lovers would be gr8,but they really need to know the ins & outs about safety & the proper ways to handle them & how to keep them properly maintained. Maybe now these anti gun freaks will understand just how important our 2nd is,without the 2nd,all the others would be stripped so fast,we wouldn't be able to keep up with whats being stripped & when.

The reason is if the gun community welcomes those currently desperate with open arms, they have higher chances in the future for more members and better public opinion, and that is a good thing
@@Tri_Nitro On the money there.
Those in the gun community who insult, act like know-it-alls, go mall ninja, or otherwise put an unappealing first impression of gun owners in the person of themselves do us no favors by turning off those just getting interested in guns for the first time.
Being a good representative of gun owners by demonstrating proper safety unfailingly and using the proper demeanor to introduce those new shooters to guns will do us all a favor down the road, especially when it comes to defeating these authoritarians in friendly politician attire who would like nothing more than taking away as many of our guns as they can get their grubby little tyrant hands on.

Thanks Paul!
I found that tidbit very informative as I did not know that prior to this video.
You know what I love about your videos? You’re so normal. No tacti-cool, no drama, just matter of fact practical advice.
It’s particularly applicable to people who live in countries where firearms are less common, far more regulated and lacking in options regarding training. For instance in Australia you need to be a member of a club and compete to own a handgun. If you aren’t a professional shooter you can’t own a semi automatic long gun
As a hunter you can only own a bolt action, lever action or pump action rifle. Or a single/double barrel or lever/straight pull action shotgun
Furthermore you can only own a calibre that is suited to the game you wish to hunt, like a .22 for rabbits, .357 magnum for goats or a .308 for camels. You can’t own a firearm for self defence but there are situations where it may be legally acceptable to use one in that regard
Having a good understanding of the expansive range of firearms and their use and application is a good place to start if you want to gain ownership of one and this video is great
"Things are not normal." Truer words have never been spoken.

Overnout
Hahaha 😂🤣😂🤣!!!!! omgsh great stuff
The service that Paul provided during the pandemic cannot be overstated. Well done, sir. Very proud to have learned from you, not only firearms, but presentation and logic skills. Grateful for you, Paul.
If you feel cheated because he gave 6 and the title says 10, here's four more:
1. Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction, away from anything you're not comfortable destroying.
2. Treat every firearm as loaded until you visually and manually verify it is not, even if the person handling it before you did exactly that.
3. Do not put your finger on the trigger until you have the firearm pointed at something you're comfortable doing irreparable harm. (Mr. Harrell referenced this)
4. Know what's behind your target.
If you're going to keep firearms, know these rules by heart. They will prevent the vast majority of negligent discharges.
Also, great video. I've been watching a lot of his stuff in the past few weeks and I find Mr. Harrell's voice rather calming.
Excellent points for those new to firearm interest and everybody else too!
I was taught #4 as, "Know what you are going to hit when you miss what you are trying to hit".
Stephen Well played, sir.
I'm SO glad my dad taught me #4 - it saved his life the first time he took me hunting!
Another very, very, very important rule that, which because I knew it, and followed it strictly, saved someone's life, and spared me lifelong guilt and prison time when I was a young man of 22. Never shoot at anything you can't 100%...positively...with no doubt whatsoever, identify as in what or who it is. Even if you're literally 99% sure of what you're about to shoot, don't squeeze that trigger.
Not a single "uh" "or Um". Language is accurate, too! Well done, Paul.

Ive got a question! How is a a firearm going to be of any use during a viral pandemic
@@Bugman541 It's not the pandemic per se; it's the unfortunate result of efforts to keep the virus from spreading. The economy is suffering, people are scared/broke, and might cross lines they wouldn't normally cross. Addicts may be less able to get their drug of choice and try to break into someone's home to steal, etc. For many of us, missing a couple of paychecks can be near- disastrous.
drumrnva those problems apply to every country on the planet. It’s weird how Americans somehow manage to squeeze deadly firearms into every aspect of life. Oh well, it’s none of my business really.
@@Bugman541 As desperation increases due to economic downturns more people turn to crime, hence the need for protection. I'm repeating what drumrnva said because for some reason it didn't register in your head. Your response didn't dismiss anything he just said. That Old Hunter has a very hefty set of Depends to go with that saying.
I've never met anyone with only one gun who I would consider to be very good. Usually if someone puts in the time to practice and uses their guns, they realize that different guns have advantages and disadvantages. This is one of those silly "wise" sayings that gets spread and people for some reason believe it.
All we need is to read To Kill a Mockingbird to see that man in Atticus Finch.
A 50 year old gentle man whom made no boast or brag about his years as an award winning marksman had need to pull out his old reliable when good honest people were threatened. The man held back until the very last second when it came to shooting a rabid dog, not because of inaction but because he truly felt anything on the other side of his gun deserved a fair shake.
Or, as its so wonderfully put in Dr. Who: Demons run when a good man goes to war.
@@CovidLover I've met 3...
one was an Uncle of mine who was extraordinarily good with a Lee-Enfield SMLE he'd bought after the war, just like the one he used in Service, and on the Company shooting team. For fun they'd shoot 1 foot square plates at 800 yards.
1 was a cousin of my dad's who possessed exceptional skill with a beaten-up Winchester '94 in .30-30 who was unusually proficient in knocking multiple whitetail deer down in succession as they ran through his favourite coulee as the dogs sent them through ( his record being 4 bucks with 4 shots at a bouncing run (( we thought he was in trouble firing a rapid signal)) but by the time we all ran there, he'd dragged all 4 together and was sitting on a fallen log having a smoke like nothing had happened...
and an old Copper worked Metro Division Toronto P.D. from Huntsville who carried an old Savage 99 in .300 Savage who could hit anything he wanted, any time he wanted, offhand, near or far. A box of 20 cartridges lasted him 5 years: 3 to sight in every year and 1 to drop his deer/ bear/ moose.
Those were men to respect for their skill, and definitely not to cross. It's not about limitations. It's about the skill to make a tool exceed it's designed purpose from specialization to multipurpose or beyond.

The quality is more likely attributed towards using camera settings like proper white balance and exposure. (Ie. Its cloudy/overcast outside and therefore his camera's default white balance settings happen to be more suited towards this, as opposed to bright sunlight where this current white balance setting wouldn't work.) This is what I have noticed throughout his videos, at least. In a lot of videos, the colors look washed out and the detail is lacking because his White Balance setting more than likely is on an incorrect setting by default. That's the culprit in a lot of peoples footage. Also exposure.
He needs to look into his camera settings and adjust accordingly. Default camera settings are garbage. Also, color correction in editing. Then hes "running with the big boys" so to speak... You can get a very professional "HD" looking video with a cheapo used Go-Pro type camera by just simply looking into your settings and adjusting the default settings camera manufacturers set. RUclips channels with more professional looking videos have people who tweak these things. He just needs to do a little google searching if he is interested in improving footage quality.
Personally, I'm happy with the content he is putting out but there's definitely nothing wrong with improvement.

Another way the concept is presented is * Non Dedicated Gun Owners * . This is a very real thing .
In the Gun Enthusiast Community , we are highly interested in these things , and in person , or print, or online we communicate , and self reinforce . @@joachimlarsen2k It's the related issues to the virus, in several locations the police have stated that they won't be showing up to "minor" calls.
What that means only the police know, but it means that people don't feel like they can trust that the police are going to be a simple phone call away, so they feel the need to arm themselves in case something occurs.
The majority of them are urban people who are used to police being all of five minutes or less away, and now the wait time is gonna be much longer. I'm a rural American so it's always been 10+ minutes for me, so this is nothing new, but it is for a lot of people now. So they go get a gun.

.30-30 *is* moderately powerful, the case being significantly shorter than .30-06 and 7.62 NATO.
I see the 30-30 like a medium weight boxer, not too heavy or light.
That's because the 30-30 is designed to dump a massive amount of energy into the target upon impact. Its not super accurate or fast, but if you hit something under 150 yards with it, it will do fatal damage.
It's like the difference between a bus(30-30) hitting something at 60mph vs a corvette(insert your sexy caliber here) hitting something at 120mph. Ultimately they will both do the job, you just have to pick the right one for the situation.
