    I definitely want to get better at meal planning, both to avoid waste and to transition to veganism in a healthy way (for ethical reasons). I used to eat out a lot and that I have largely stopped.
    I don't know if you would ever consider doing a 'what we eat in a week' type video? I guess this may change with the transition to the van (I discovered your channel via Saga's channel and hope things are going well after all the gruelling effort)?

      Oh my goodness! Thanks for stopping by :) It has been an epic transition. And we’re certainly still getting into the swing of it! But, we’ve also already seen some truly remarkable things, which Saga and I can’t wait to share :D Hopefully some new kind of normalcy will be setting in soon so that we can continue to share our abundant and loving ideas with the world! :D

    hey thank you for this video it really does help, also I just wanted to say recently my sister got sick and she drinks mostly soda, eats Fastfood, etc... As she was sick i went with my mom to get mc Donalds for her but i said that's a dumb idea for when you're sick, that food is poison and will make her feel worse, she wanted it so we had to get it ,unfortunately she has been eating that toxic food for around 5 years and she gets sick all the time because of her diet so when i try to help her, telling her its bad for you and makes you sick,
    she knows that but she doesn't care but then continues to get angry at me and says "im judging and complaining" about what she eats. i just say Ok.And Its one of the reasons i lost my grandpa when i was a kid... He would drinks sodas, eat Fastfood and had a really bad diet, rarely drank water. sometimes my family gets stressed or mad because i don't eat what they eat every time because its bad for you. I'm just trying to better myself physically, spiritually and mentally, and bring up others around me including family.
    i just want the best for all of us, but sometimes they think im too annoying with the foods i eat, because for a fact the US is at 45% obesity rate and that thousands of ingredients and chemicals banned from foods and drinks, i know its not safe and majority isnt healthy. being honest here i dont really have anyone to share this with but i look up to you and appreciate your vids, i dont know what to do honestly im trying to figure it out.

      Thank you so much for this lovely message. I feel like I understand your situation from personal experience and from my friends experiences too. Sometimes I really feel like I want the best for someone else and I’ve got some ideas they haven’t tried… but sometimes people seem committed to not making things better! Overtime I think I’ve learnt, I think, to try and become more skilful in how I help others. At the end of the day it probably is their choice… but there seems to be better ways than others at showing people what you already know! There’s a few psychological tests that suggest the best way to change peoples behaviour is to not use negative reinforcement (not that I think you were doing this (it’s just useful to know)) and to lower the obstacles to making the change… now it can be hard to make such an effort depending on your life situation. But when I want to help someone change behaviour, I think to myself, how can I make this as easy as possible for the person! (That’s actually one of the main reasons I make videos… because a lot of the ideas I talk about, already exist in books, but I find videos easier to consume.)
      So rather than get annoyed at people not changing these days… I actually accept their boundaries and think if I really care, it’s my job to go out of my way, to practically help them make experiencing this better option as easy as possible… and in reality, there’s only so much I can do, or know how to do so far… and I try… and then I try something else. And that’s what I’m still doing today. I haven’t been able to help everyone I would have wanted to… but if I can help someone else, then it all adds up and eventually one day, something might change and I can go back to these people and maybe it will be different.
      There’s so much going on here, and this is just how I think about it. But, thank you for your message and I feel for your situation. Dates and nut butter and freezing bananans and blending them into ice cream are 2 things that would have helped me eat healthier sooner!

    How does one cultivate the ability the happy and joyful when there’s so much suffering happening unfairly to others? I get that it’s difficult to help others when you’re not happy and at peace yourself but it is truly difficult to cultivate…

    • @SonamHoani
      @SonamHoani  2 года назад +2

      I completely agree. Maybe if this were on one’s mind being happy and joyful is less necessary, maybe being motivated to be a positive influence is more relevant 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s a great question!

    • @karumanchikrishna1109
      @karumanchikrishna1109 2 года назад +1

      @@SonamHoani that’s a great answer ! Sometime I do find the pressure of being happy a bit frustrating, but I think it’s just about finding a the right balance, doing things that nourish and give energy and channelling the energy towards things that have a positive influence on the world. I think once we make sacrifices for others and make sure we aren’t completely burnt out, contentment should follow as a by product! I personally find certain personal rituals like just sitting the by same tree and looking at the sunset everyday to be a very healing habit and I think it’s key everyone finds such healing things as it varies for each individual!

      I think it’ll be important to firstly realise that one can’t change the world one their own and should be ok with that (and not blame themselves or feel guiltily for that), and still learn to work in the right direction

      In zen there is no separation and no "I". When there is no "I" or separate ego self then all attachments fall away and peace and freedom arises but for noone.
