The odd time I end up dispatching, I find contractors are easier to deal with than retail customers. Most times contractors plan well enough in advance, retail customers, however, seem to think we sit around waiting for the $500 order that they get once every two years. When asked for a delivery time, I tell them AM or PM, too many unforeseen circumstances can take place in between.
see its funny because on the flip side, i worked as a coordinator for a retail business, and honestly the trucking industry was the worst at demanding timeframes, we'd either get no call and they'd show up at 7am and had one even force a bay door open and drop the order without us signing, or would call 15 minutes before they are their thinking we could drop everything and have them as the first unloaded.
I love these videos. It remines of the worst year of my life when I ran a warehouse delivering large appliances for a major retailer. The abuse that my drivers went through with customers who were promised we would do everything in the world for them by store personnel. They would even tell them that when delivering a washer we would do a load of laundry to make sure the machine worked properly. Customers were given at time of purchase a delivery guide explaining what we will do and what we won't. They conveniently ignored this and heaped verbal abuse and racial slurs at my drivers. One time even an assault. Much respect to you and the work you do. Count me in as a new subscriber.
People like that usually just want to be there to micromanage you and tell you how to do your job. Usually they just end up getting in the way making things more complicated than need be.
I work for a small landscaping company. We get product all the time mulch, gravel, soil etc. delivered. Work with them and they’re more then happy to help. If I want it in a tighter spot I always ask if that’s do able. Because I was brought up that you get more with honey then vinegar

Hey I've just found the channel today and have been bingeing episodes and in one episode u mentioned Plainfield, and in this one Mystic, are you based out of CT??
Not really. The point made here was that it was an all day delivery but sometimes you really do have to have something at a certain time. I work on construction and manage all those things and 95% of the time noone has to wait. I have to manage 30 deliverys a week on one site and if one truck is 2 hours to late he will be blocking the next truck. You cannot order materials for 7 in the morning and have it come 3 hours to late when your workers have nothing to do. Tomorrow im getting concrete, the next day at 7 a truck full of bricks, next week the concrete again. Again, if you give shipping companies enough time heads up it works. I never complain to the driver because they are told were to go. Besides that I know them all and they would just tell me to fuck off lol.
I disagree. Doctors and Dentists need to stick to their appointment schedule as best they can, cause they aren't just seeing you, they've got appointments every 20 or 30 minutes. Don't be late!

There are an untold number of reasons that a delivery may be delayed. Whether it be a courier in a small van or a truck with a lot of materials I accept that there are restrictions on when and where they can deliver. If I get it on the expected day then I'm happy. I always do my best to be polite and ask if there is anything I can do to help (the normal answer is a laugh and 'stay out of the way'). If it doesn't arrived on the day I can pretty much guarantee that it is not the fault of the driver so why on earth have a go at them. Be nice, be polite and strangely enough they will be the same.
As if you have control over when you can pick up the materials, traffic, and other uncontrollable events. I always ask for a window of time, which can be 3-4 hours. Some customers just have no clue. Good joke on the commo-doors. ROFL I really dislike control-freaks I was married to one, glad he is long gone.
