Looking at the age of the neighborhood I would guess most of the homes were built before owning a car was common. IOW, anything in the street WAS a delivery and wouldn't be there too long. BTW, Henry Ford made a bit over 15 million Model T cars by the late 1920s. There weren't too many other cars on the road back then. Today we have over 275 million cars in the USA and it seems like half are on the road at any given time. (traffic) That's still a lot of cars parked on the side of the road!

So nice to have power steering bro, back when I first started driving semis the only power steering was all the muscle power you could muster from your arms and shoulders to turn and especially hard going slow to turn a sharp corner or backing around a corner was really challenging with a lot of the weight of the truck and engine sitting on the front axle.

I drove fuel tankers and delivered around gasoline and such around the metro Atlanta and north Georgia area for a few years decades ago. Headed down Peachtree Street (wide, major roadway) in the heart of Atlanta one day, I ran into a detour around a huge natural gas pipeline leak. Cop was directing traffic and told me to turn down a very narrow "no trucks allowed" street that put me in the maze of some of Atlanta's oldest and nicest neighborhoods in the Buckhead area with nothing but tiny streets. Thought I'd never get out of there. Several times I had to take the left lane at intersections to make right turns into the left lane of a side street, and every time, I had to force multiple cars to back out of my way. They had to back up because I wasn't about to. It was a hoot. Before I made that first turn I had leaned out the window and asked that cop if he was sure he wanted me to go that way. He said there wasn't any other way to go, and the problem was probably going to take hours to fix to clear the detour. Fortunately I was empty and headed back to Doraville to load up again.
