Sen. Whitehouse Exposes Fossil Fuel Mischief Behind Republican Attacks on ESG

- March 1 | Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, took to the Senate floor to decry GOP attacks on ESG investing as a false flag for the fossil fuel industry's climate denial operation.
This senator has to be one of the most unappreciated. Anyone would say this guy and his staff put in some serious hours. He always knocks it out of the park.
God knows the only way to avoid failure is to never to anything.
Give us a break, Whitehouse, the entire thing is a fraud. I don't know at what point one can declare insanity, somewhere South of having 400 pet cats, would be safe, I think. Don't worry, be happy. It only takes 4 minutes to review the arctic sea ice record thus knowing mammals will be extinct by 2026. Everything else is a distraction presented by your global dystopian nightmare existence. Have a nice day. The models for Limits to Growth of 1973 are now proven accurate. The state has no plans, so the only difference between a Republican & a Democrat is how fast the knee hits the floor when a donor walks in the room. Don't tell me the 1973 Limits to Growth models were that accurate. I asked you not to tell me that. The 1979 report on greenhouse gases was spot on too. Don't rub it in. It said now was "too late" Bummer, hearing this is much worse than you think in your dystopian nightmare existence. Voting in a Democracy is the cult-like faith it is a good idea to harness our collective minds, so the only difference between a Republican & Democrat is how fast the knee hits the floor when a donor walks in the room. Some are so insane; they share other people's delusions. We can't talk about how deep the problem is. The big problem is the Christian presenting. It discloses the presentation is a fraud created by those in delusion, those willing to ignore credibility, to publicly insult intelligence with suggestions we travel with one foot in fantasyland. The Christian, authorized by himself, is routinely permitted to weigh-in on whatnot, as if the earth had gravity-free zones. The Gospels, being a joke, have their master say a wicked generation seeks signs. Then, the Christian declares sacred text, with a sign in every chapter. Even Mary is a slur. Can't have too many Mary' in a story. Even Alex Jones knows to use Jesus-lingo, they will buy anything. But wait, there's more. The Christian has a divine sense of vanity. We are all gods, Children of the Highest. Jesus is never depicted as short, fat & balding. He has extra-long arms on the shroud so even in death, the Christian can admire his modesty. The Christian routinely maintains a delusion his fraud goes unseen, not one understands it is a bad idea to chat with the homeless, having a conversation with an imaginary friend by speaking into a hairdryer. The Christian is made by the fascist state, render to Caesar, turn the other cheek, & walk the extra mile, sheep to hear the voice of God & take up the cross. The rate of insanity in any population is graduated. Democracy is a cult-like faith where many actually believe giving power to others always has consequence which can be tolerably managed by the managers & one size fits all policy is the way to go. Get ready. The source of this strangeness and craziness of the GOP over the last 6-10 years is going to eventually lead straight to certain members of the fossil fuel industry. History gives us a precedent. This stinks of an event in US history when some of the wealthiest and most powerfully connected people on the planet (bankers, wall street financiers, tycoons, and captains of industry like Hearst, DuPont, J.P. Morgan, Rockefeller and "STANDARD OIL"), joined forces to create the American Liberty League to oppose FDR's New Deal plan. They would also secretly conspire to overthrow FDR in 1933-34 in what is now known as the "Wall Street Putsch" also called the "Business Plot". These powerful entities didn't like FDR's plan to end Laissez Faire and his plan to take the US off of the gold standard, actions that would have caused these magnates and tycoons to lose huge chunks of their fortunes to inflation. They believed FDR's plan was making them pay for the collapse of the economy caused by the crash of 1929. After observing the "apparent" economic miracles in Germany and Italy these wealthy and powerfully connected people believed that fascism offered a better solution. To this end they sought to replace our democracy with a fascist regime lead by an authoritarian stooge, (sound familiar?). What's really scarry is that they almost pulled it off. If not for a true American patriot named General Butler we might have lost our democracy. I think Americans would do well to review this period in US history. I believe this because it looks like something very similar is happening. It's no surprise that the fossil fuel industry has perceived a threat to their multi-billion dollar industry. They are on record for attempts to curry favor with sympathetic (venal) politicians. They have watched a left leaning government begin to listen more and more to climate scientists and their theories about global warming. I believe they have seen the writing on the wall. Their ability to manipulate public opinion and influence politicians with their huge war chest is being strained. Lets face it, their best chance of surviving the coming storm was to get (and keep) someone like Trump in office.
It is corporate welfare. If the oligarchs had to work for a living, feed themselves or wipe their own backsides, they would cease to exist.
