The problem with half life death match is the fact that on xash PC players and phone players are connected into the same servers making the phone player at a great disadvantage as aiming down fast moving enemies is a lot harder not to mention the tau gun overuse it can pierce through walls can chip your armor so fast and make the enemy move faster they can just fly in the sky and snipe u from there :/
HL2 deathmatch is my personal favorite of the two as the gravity gun adds quite a lot to the gameplay as a whole. You can use it to pick up explosives or heavy objects to fling at opponents, retrieve objects from afar, grab grenades or energy balls to huck at opponents, even take your opponents projectiles and throw it back at them! It's extremely satisfying when you and an opponent are in a heated duel, and you notice a prop out of the corner of your eye, so you quickly switch to the gravity gun, flick to grab the prop and flick back to shoot it at your opponent killing them. Sure HL1 is more mechanically intensive and competitive, but it doesn't share the same uniqueness as HL2.
I am unsure about the picking up enwmy projectiles with the Gravity Gun, can you stop a revolver bullet? I never tried nor managed to do something like that. Anyways, I like HL2 DM a lot too, its a lot of fun amd if i'd give HL1Dm a 9/10, HL2DM would be an 8.5
@@supertuna123 Well, projectile as in any object that can thrown with the gravity gun: eg. Props, grenade, or energy ball. If your opponent is able to pick it up with the gravity gun, you are able to grab it mid-air and shoot it back. As far as I'm aware the revolver and any other "firearm" in HL2 doesn't shoot projectiles and is simply a hitscan weapon, although I could be wrong. I'm also fairly certain you can't grab the crossbows rebar or the smg's grenades midair which is kind of a letdown. So in conclusion, many of the guns in HL2 deathmatch are hitscan and therefore can't be intercepted with the gravity gun, nor can smg grenades or crossbow rebar. Edit: I'm also fairly certain you can't grab rockets, but I've never tried. If you could that would be sick.
Really glad that someone still talks about HL or HL2DM. I'm playing HL2 still to this day and I can't get enough
Yea they are very fun game and lets say there really are no good FPS games that are worth playing rn. CS2? Im bored of the same cs formula
HL2DM is automatically better because only one guy was making it during his spare time.
I’m a lot better at HLDM. But I definitely can’t choose between these two. Love them both!
Personaly my favorite one is the black mesa multyplayer since its a remake of hl1dm and the snarks are cooler now.
I used to play it in 2020. It is a fun time, but 90% of players were bots. Its still not as tight as hl1 thougj

the only good point of hldm is the Gauss Gun, but HL2DM wins in all other stuff.

Tbh before playing HL1DM i used to play HL:S DM just because it had "deathmatch" in its title just like HL2DM.
