As someone with 400 hours in tf2, this tutorial is very good, but i feel like the fact that you werent using the default hud "which every beginner is using" can be really confusing
I would like to add that Heavy is also a very beginner friendly class, the scary but lovable giant russian weapons guy is pretty much the definition of "easy to learn but hard to master".
nahhh heavy is easy to learn and easy to master. he is really easy. You just need situational awareness and tracking aim, which can be mastered by playing other classes. Soldier is the definition of easy to learn but hard to master, spamming rockets is pretty easy, but rocket jumping adds a lot of depth to the class that is unmatched by most classes.
@@overlord3481 How many hours have you played Heavy!? Can you track every enemy like a sentry? Can you always be at a perfect position as to not to get caught with your pants down because of ur slow mobility (unlike soldier who can simply rocket jump to a safe distance, heavy doesn't have that luxury). Do you have enough spy paranoa to not get backstabbed and enough gamesense to instinctively be careful of snipers?? Can you masterfully throw sandviches/bananas to your allies to keep them in the fight? Can you survive a whole round mostly without any medic assistence? @@dragonandavatarfan8865 Got like 150 hours on him, being my 2nd least played class. But heavy is such a one dimensional class that I can confidently say I have mastered him and ironically, I got better at heavy by playing other classes. My most played class is scout at 750 hours, and I still have lots of room for improvement. The pistol is a much harder weapon to track with than the minigun. With heavy I can pick off scouts that are up my face and deny soldiers that are in the air. So my aim is not a problem. My game sense is on point as medic is my 2nd most played class, so that isn't an issue. I rarely get backstabbed, and very paranoid of sightlines. But matches without a medic are very rare btw. Usually there is at least 1 medic in 90% of games, because medic is the best class in TF2, your team would be at a big disadvantage without him. I am trying to learn tf2 because my friend really likes the game and the fandom, and my friend always shows me memes and stuff from it that i dont understand. So i am trying to learn everything from characters personalities, what they do, their lines, even fandom stuff like the sentry girls :)
Thanks for this guide. I'm now more comfortable with the game (even if i'm still level two). And as you said, the pyro is really easy to play i wasn't exepting that honestly.
Soldier is basicly that class that anyone can take out of their back pocket and get comfortable with quickly. Though when it comes to rocket jumping i can only really do basic jumps and none of that fancy speedrun through the map that some god players are able to do. And i've played since 2011 haha. Though note that there's weapons like the direct hit which have rough blast radius and benefit more from aiming directly at enemies.
As im writting this comment, i only have 2 hours in the game (i know, very bad numbers especially the first time that i played the game was last year) and all i've done is run, kill, run and die (
So I literally got The Orange Box day one. It was my first experience with steam. I played the hell out of portal, and then fell in love with TF2. I probably haven't played it in 15 years or so, maybe more XD I love the engineer class, do you think you could do a beginner's guide? I'd love to get up to speed! Great video, and my best to you and yours good sir.
Going back here again, Team Fortress 2 was much simpler when it was new, today, it's complicated. To correct some things here, you don't have to modify your viewmodel field of view and your general field of view from their default values, I did try to modify them but I prefer the default ones, they were common when the game was new. For what classes you should play first, the Soldier was the best option out of all other classes. Same goes to your loadout, you shouldn't heavily rely on weapons in your backpack, your stock weapons are the most reliable, it's better to sharpen your skills with stock weapons before the others.
whereas I, a beginner, just chose Sniper and got really good with him really fast because I just like sitting and picking people off from distances. other than that I'm scout and pyro. everyone else still confuses me
I played for a very minimal amount of time in 2017 and then couldn't play until I got a better computer this year (my computer is still not ideal, but better than the last one). I need to relearn how to play, so thanks!
I'm installing the game rn. I'm horrible at shooters and I'm a bit scared ngl. But the guide is quite helpful! Hopefully I manage to not die in the first 10 minutes or so- Update: This is fun but I'm still horrible at shooters
i downloaded the game like a year ago and i’m still terrified of getting out of tutorials, since i haven’t really played any fps in general, i’m more scared of messing up and being carried and a nuisance, but i guess the best way to learn is by actually playing!
As a console player i am unable to score kills unless i get used to mouse and keyboard. Until then watching tutorials is kind of a priority. the video is nice, I never knew pyro had airblast.
I just started today and it’s kinda hard for me since I am more of a console player and I will try to get better in this game my biggest obstacle still is getting used at the controls of a pc.

You are very welcome! If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask! Have fun :)
I am trying to learn tf2 because my friend really likes the game and the fandom, and my friend always shows me memes and stuff from it that i dont understand. So i am trying to learn everything from characters personalities, what they do, their lines, even fandom stuff like the sentry girls :)
this is a really helpful guide even in 2023, you just earned a like, thank you!
Thanks for this guide. I'm now more comfortable with the game (even if i'm still level two). And as you said, the pyro is really easy to play i wasn't exepting that honestly.
coming to this vid as a new player in 2024 seems chill, the game seems cool
Thanks! I'm watching this while downloading tf2, and this is a great beginners guide :D
I unironically watched this last night, I know enough about TF2 but I absolutely suck at the game and looked up some videos to help me out
Brand new to tf2 hoping this will cure the depression overwatch has given me
Thank you so much. Have a good day!
17 years old. Crazy how fast time goes by.
Once you get done with the first three classes I reccomend a flanker like spy to help learn the map and sniper to improve your aim
I have almost 2000 hours and this guide finally helped me get good
bro thank you so much for this, i wanna play tf2 with my friends but scared ima get clowned on, thank you for this!
My boyfriend wants to play this game with me but I never played any video games. This video helped a lot, thank you!
Great tutorial!
I'll use this advice when I can actually land a bullet on a target that's standing still.
dude I kinda knew how tf2 works from tc2 but something always felt off, the two setup commands u gave totally changed the game for me
bro thank you so much, very clear explanation!
I love the modanation racers music at the end
As im writting this comment, i only have 2 hours in the game (i know, very bad numbers especially the first time that i played the game was last year) and all i've done is run, kill, run and die (
Its incredible meeting other man that knows bout ModNation Racers
Never played and i dont think I ever will but i enjoy watching videos like these
This was very helpfull, thank you
So I literally got The Orange Box day one.
I just started playing tf2 for the first time, this does help
this was posted on my birthday :D
thx so much for this guide! I have amnesia so I completely forgot how to play :< all I know is that I liked this game a lot! so thank you again!
Thank you, awesome video!
i have over 1000 hours on tf2 + i joined in 2016, and yet i still play like i've launched this game for the first time
this video could be useful
so helpful, thank you!
Same goes to your loadout, you shouldn't heavily rely on weapons in your backpack, your stock weapons are the most reliable, it's better to sharpen your skills with stock weapons before the others.
i started with soldier. i main him but i also gravitate towards medic. 2 insane dudes in one go
I haven’t played since 2012 so thanks for this
whereas I, a beginner, just chose Sniper and got really good with him really fast because I just like sitting and picking people off from distances. other than that I'm scout and pyro. everyone else still confuses me
Even as old school such as my self you did gud with this
tysm that helps
2:53 imagine sketchek watching this: 😭😭
I have 16 hours in tf2,this made me better thank you!
I played for a very minimal amount of time in 2017 and then couldn't play until I got a better computer this year (my computer is still not ideal, but better than the last one). I need to relearn how to play, so thanks!
Remember, it is a tradition, set your kill bind and if someone just combusts, you too, should combust
Thx im new to the game!!
😅
8:42 i just realized that there is some modnation ost around there. Now i know i'm not the only one who knows about it.
I'm installing the game rn. I'm horrible at shooters and I'm a bit scared ngl. But the guide is quite helpful! Hopefully I manage to not die in the first 10 minutes or so-
Update: This is fun but I'm still horrible at shooters
i downloaded the game like a year ago and i’m still terrified of getting out of tutorials, since i haven’t really played any fps in general, i’m more scared of messing up and being carried and a nuisance, but i guess the best way to learn is by actually playing!
Hey, amazing video! May I ask which HUD you are using in the video, and if there’s a link to download it? It looks very nice and polished.
Who'd have thought a low-quality chibi would start dancing?
I don't care that this is 2 years old I still think this video is still helpful I just started playing tf2
So i tried to fix the FOV but the console didn't pop up, did everything as you said
you need to bind it on another button. For me worked F9
As a console player i am unable to score kills unless i get used to mouse and keyboard. Until then watching tutorials is kind of a priority. the video is nice, I never knew pyro had airblast.
also, enable fast weapon switch as it makes it where you dont need to click after you select a weapon you want to use in matches!
found a noob in a community server, he asked us for help, and we delevired! thank you!
Bro, please help me out with the aim. how do you get that aim while you were using scout while explaining cheat plssssssssssssss
Tysm im praying i dont get bullied
I just started today and it’s kinda hard for me since I am more of a console player and I will try to get better in this game my biggest obstacle still is getting used at the controls of a pc.
I'd say allways use the missing class and many are not picked play depending on your team classes a support class, mostly medic
thank you so much, love from Bangladesh
