It’s always funny to me whenever someone in the community says a certain Half-Life chapter is bad because at worst they’ll be mediocre with a few annoying/infuriating moments and various missed opportunities (in addition to the stuff people complain about for this one there’s also the lack of zombies. Realistically we should’ve at encountered at least a few of them). Whenever I hear “worst chapter in the game” or “this level is bad” I think of genuinely bad levels like The Library from Halo 1 (Ruby’s Rebalanced dramatically improves that mission by adding in the cut flame thrower, having a few sections with vehicles, reducing the number of rocket Flood, and adding Flood biomass/fires to the higher floors to show how virulent that parasite is. Ruby’s Rebalanced is basically Halo’s MMod. Definitely excited for what he’ll do with Halo 2. ESPECIALLY with Halo 2’s HORRIBLE unbalanced Legendary difficulty) or Cortana from Halo 3 (aside from the fact the level is really repetitive since the Flood are only really fun to fight when mixed with other enemies or on their own for brief segments my biggest problem with that mission is the fact aside form a few rooms/structures off in the distance it doesn’t even resemble High Charity. It looks like a Covenant ship that’s been overrun by the Flood, and that’s because it’s quite literally the extended second half of Floodgate where you would’ve actually blown up the ship like Miranda tells you to do in Floodgate). Those are actually examples of terrible levels that drag down the games they’re in.

Idk I dont think Residue Processing needs some zombies. Adding a few or some of them wouldnt make the chapter better, and I like the pacifist vibe of this level. Unfortunately I still havent played Halo but i heard a lot of horror stories about the library.
I have been playing alot of 90s shooters this summer, and i feel like playing some stuff from the 2000s so I may try Halo, do you recommend the Master Chief Collection?

The reason why I would’ve liked to see a few zombies is because for whatever reason they don’t really appear much for the rest of the game, and it would make sense for a few of them to be there. At the same time I definitely agree with you that it’s nice to have a chapter without much fighting that instead focused on platforming. That way there’s a bit of downtime between combat, and you do something else to make the gameplay feel more varied.
A big chunk of what makes the Library bad is the fact it goes on for too long, and you can get lost easily since it looks the same and the Flood constantly coming out of the vents is basically guaranteed to turn you around (should’ve had arrows on the ground like they do in Assault on the Control Room/Two Betrayals. One good thing the Anniversary graphics do for the Library is add said arrows to the Library. A lot of people aren’t fans of the remastered graphics because the mashup of H3 and Reach graphics don’t fit CE’s art style, and sometimes the models/map geometry of the remastered visuals don’t match up with the classic graphics/actual hitboxes. The environments are beautiful, but since it’s always bright it ruins the tone of certain levels, and the Forerunner architecture is overly detailed). There’s also the occasional wave section where Spark will go through a partially opened door or vent and you’ll have to fight Flood until it opens. There’s a mod that gets rid of this last problem and from what I’ve heard it makes the level a lot better. Thematically the Library is beautiful because the size of the level helps show the scale of Forerunner structures, the relentless onslaught of Flood shows just how dangerous they are, and it exhausts the player making them want it to be over. Gameplay wise it’s the worst part of the game for the exact same reasons. Something that’s really interesting about the level is originally Bungie wanted it to be this big corkscrew that spirals down with your goal clearly visible. You’d also have Flood jumping up and down from the different levels to get to you. Sadly, that was cut due to hardware limitations. If the rumored CE remake is real they should go with that, and throw in some Covenant squads who are also after the Index to dramatically improve that part of the game.
The MCC regularly goes on sale for 75% off and has 6 games, so I’d consider it a good deal. Although, from what I’ve heard there’s still various bugs, issues with multiplayer, and apparently there’s a bunch of cheaters in multiplayer (there’s clips of people flying around and other funny stuff. It reminds me of how for the 360/PS3 CoD games you’ll see someone who hacked the game and is walking around in the sky🤣. Such a shame that CoD has fallen off as well. World at War, the original Modern Warfare/Black Ops, and others were a blast to play. They also gave us WingsofRedemption, and I consider that to be a true service to humanity😂). Fortunately, I’ve never experienced any of that. But, I’m also a weirdo who doesn’t really care about multiplayer aside from casual matches with people I know, Firefight (this hoard mode), and campaign co-op. If that’s a sticking point for you maybe don’t buy it. Each of the games in the collection has their own quirks/drawbacks (if you want I can talk about what are in my view the various strengths and weaknesses of each game, but this comment is going to be long enough), but I’m largely able to look past those. There’s also various mods that fix a bunch of little issues with the games.

@@shreksnow1918 im against more zombies cause they would just be dumb walls to stop your movement, and HL zombies are very basic enemies, its just a body to stop on your path.
Sooner or later, ii'll have to play Halo, and lately I wanna explore the 2000s more cause i've played too many 90s games this summer. However, I think i'll play Chrome (2003) next, just cause it can be fertile ground for a video. Maybe Halo will come next and i'll buy the MCC collection once it goes on sale.
About the CoD series, my fav are CoD 2 and CoD 4 MW, but I ahvent explored the COD series at all, last CoD i played was MW3 and then I lost track. If i'm in the mood for some CoD action i play Ironsight

honestly i see a bit of it, sure the powering sections are tedious, but the conveyer jumping idea conveys (pun intended) how the entire black mesa facility is interconnected and I usually have a blast jumping around and getting to where i need to go, but the environments compared to some of the others that are indoors are pretty lackluster, lambda complex, anomolous materials, unforseen consequences, all of them that take place inside and are great because they do what half-life does best, semi-linear level design, this is why in half life 1 and 2 they included other areas to spice up the gameplay which was fun regardless but there was a good ammount of immpressive visuals in these inside areas because they nail the asthetic of a high end science facility, but the outside sections and rustic sections are by far my least favorite, because they nailed the look of the invasion inside, but not a single zombie is seen outside as a marine or anything, which is dumb because the resonance cascade effected most of the area of the facility and even outside it some, hence shepards copter was downed. it shows story how the invasion did more than just kill people at black mesa, that is the only reason the outside sections are here, and of course to demonstrate the marines ulterior motive for coming here.

That tripmine section always made me think i missed the intended way to go through it
What if you don't have satchels? you'll take damage by shooting at it at best and die at worst, it softlocks your playthrough!
That's one of those things that change your approach at games forever, some old games sometimes needing a finite resource like an explosive to progress through a specific part of the game, it teaches you to always keep at least one saved up
Nowadays most games don't do this, instead of softlocking you from the game, you might just miss on a secret item cache from breaking a wall or something, which is way less harsh on the player

even with satchels its tricky to throw them to blow up the second mine cause they get stuck in the conveyer belt, they could have positioned it two inches further and it wouldnt have been a problem, oh well!

Am i the only one who has never complained about half life chapters? Because i always see people say "Water Hazard is bad!!!" On A Rail is bad!!!" But when i play those, they're my most favorive and engaging chapters for me and i never get tired of playing them.

HL2 has its fair share of dull chapters though, about HL1 I pretty much enjoy every single one of them, with Gonarch Lair being my least favourite

these sections are fun, but in their own right, they have strengths and weaknesses that contrast too much with the rest of the game, on a rail is a fun one for me looking back but what i hate is the pace killers of having to get off the cart, sometimes i like these and provide fun ways to get out of the environments rigged with traps by the marines, but honestly, i just wish the cart was faster, because being on your own you move so fast and the cart isn't much faster than you, but you use it so much less than you would think, you half of the time are switching it out like a yoshi that isnt loved anymore, and water hazard is fun when things are happening, but when they arent, you see these open areas that while they make sense contextually, are really bad for going through, because half-life excels at linear gameplay, and when its not linear it is clearly telegraphed where to go, but in water hazard you have to be glued to the vehicle which is just enough to the point you need it to progress, dont get me wrong, pulling up to the gate and fighting the combine there is good shit, and helps make the chapter better than on a rail, but still with similar issues.

The worst? Really?! Naaah they're crazy. It's not the best, but it's not that bad, let alone to be the default and obvious choice.

the only half life one chapter that I don't like after playing the game a 3rd time for half-payne would have to be the first chapter, black mesa inbound, because honestly, it is dogshit compared to point insertion which establishes a plot and world in the first few minutes where-as black mesa inbound has you glued to the very restrictive tram with nothing to do and with very minimalistic environments even for 1998 standards. and plus the game doesn't showcase story in this section, no that would make sense! no instead they showcase the animations and how fuckin fun it is to work at black mesa, because originality is key! But you aren't ever locked into place in point insertion, you can actively explore the world and interact with objects and the environment to learn more about the new world there, the only thing black mesa inbound does to establish anything of worth is text telling you who you are, with credits, that is it, and there isn't even any music to listen to, you just are walked through this 4 minute long tram ride with nothing else, sections like this need more interaction to be engaging, hence why it is the part i look the least forward to when playing ANY version of the game.
