I love everything about this!! What you were saying about embracing unique features resonated with me deeply. I think there's a big gap in the world for individual beauty and uniqueness, I miss it so much. There's something so charming and magnetic about ppl with their own individual features that they embrace and enhance. It's made me much more willing to embrace my own features and not see what stands out as a 'problem' .
I completely agree that Ethereal seems connected with Dramatic. It's a lighter, but almost scary energy. Angels are lovely and terrifying! I feel like Ethereal is a more muted, lower contrast version of dramatic. David Bowie is a good example of ethereal also. I feel like Rituelle de Fille is made for this essence. I love the highlight you chose so much! You look VERY pretty, and wish for a snowy backdrop to highlight the look. Even without mascara the look worked so well. Always inspiring!
You are so beautiful and if you keep making videos in your unique style and with such deep intriguing content with this style of gentle non invasive narration, this format will blow up your channel and you will become a giant make up RUclipsr. Thank you for being you. So glad I found your channel, you’ve ignited my love for make up as a romantic ethereal dramatic.
Wow thank you!! I’m going to keep chipping away at this dream because I love the community here and getting nerdy and creative about makeup! So glad I found such a great audience!

I have a very pale, muted olive complexion and have always felt like I'm too visually "dingy" to be ethereal. But what you said about grunge-ifying ethereal makeup made a lightbulb blink above my head! That's definitely the right vibe. I just bought 10 new eyeshadow singles and they're all muted or neutral tones with a flash of duochrome or sparkle in them. Thank you for that clarity!
this series has been wonderful! I really appreciate that you highlight different stages where you can leave a look or take it further depending on how you’d like to personalize it. makes it much less daunting to try new looks by dipping your toes in!
It’s cool that both ends of this scale (dramatic and ethereal) are somehow seen as scary. I do feel like there’s an untapped potential when it comes to how the other essences can be interpreted as scary? Chappell Roan is beautiful and so are you!!! I admire how she can carry a wide variety of looks and embody so much creativity without ever being overshadowed or overwhelmed by it. I feel like that’s a rare gift. Also I can’t wait to see how that final combined look turns out! That’s such a great idea!
I definitely see you ethereal essence in you now. This look is beautiful and I think you could wear head to toe fairy-core and I wouldn’t bat an eye. Add some dramatic and romantic essence and you’re cooking a witchy hot look! Do you remember the angelic outfit from Ever After? That had elementary school me in a chokehold and it comes to mind for this essence. I think I have a bit of ethereal in my mix. I find myself drawn to light airy fabrics, cream, organic shaped jewelry and pearls. Anything Aphrodite coded really ♎️😂
OOH YES THAT DRESS! I was obsessed too! I wish there were more opportunities to try clothes like that just for fun. Aphrodite coded is literally my new style inspo!
I LOVE this series!! I love not only the subject matter but I miss tutorials and having fun with different looks rather then reviews of new products which seems to have taken over the beauty community. New subscriber! I can not wait to see what is to come!! 😊
I am SOO glad I came across your videos because the last few years I’ve been really wanting to lean into my features instead of fighting them to keep with whatever trend. Thank you so much for your super in depth deep dive and exploration!! I think ethereal is my main essence but I also feel a strong pull to gamine and ingenue, maybe with a bit of natural thrown in there! Love this way of typing bc I’ve always felt most of them are too restrictive and don’t really fit me.
I watch makeup videos every single day. Your channel is so unique. I’ve only watched this one video, but I immediately subscribed. I definitely wear sparkle & have very long hair. I’m 47, but I don’t look my age. When my hair was down to my knees, I always had little girls that would stare at me. I’m a mother of 4 girls, so I’m very familiar about what they like. Since my girls have always seen me looking like this, it never seemed unique though. I would wave at the little girls & they would come up to me & tell me how pretty my hair was. I’ve become quite introverted & so I decided that I just didn’t want to get all the attention, even though I just wear sundresses or jeans & a long sleeve T-shirt. I cut my hair to my waist. Also, the maintenance was just starting to annoy me & I just wanted a change. Now, I don’t get as much attention. It was very adorable to interact with the little girls though. I wish I could have a job being a princess for parties, but at my age, I think I’m too old. I really enjoyed your take on makeup, hair etc… I’m looking forward to watching your videos and seeing your channel grow.
Thanks so much for subscribing. I am envious of your hair length! It sounds like you were an ethereal magical being with that hair! But waist length is honestly goals for me 😍
My friend introduced me to your channel and I love that you’re doing this essence series! I’ve been typed mainly ethereal with some ingenue and I’ve been so curious how best to express that with makeup and my wardrobe so this video is perfect ✨
Wow! 🤯 Personally, I think you have 60% or more Ethereal essence. The look without mascara suits you perfectly, not everyone could pull that off without looking undone. Your coloring, hair, eye color, voice, and demeanor all scream Ethereal to me. Very soft and angelic. Ethereals have this thing of appearing mature in a gentle and wise way, and you definitely have that. I do think you probably have some Romantic and Natural in the mix, but only about 15% each. I absolutely love this look on you! I think a brown mascara would suit you better than black, it still defines the eyes but in a softer, more subdued way. You look very angelic in this makeup. I'm loving these videos about the essences! 🥰🥰
Aw thanks! I think you’re right! And I don’t often wear a look without mascara but I think I might start trying it some more! Especially since lips and cheeks are my favourite part of makeup 🥰💕
@evangelinemolly Yes, looks very angelic! Give the brown lashes a try I think it would look very good too! The boyfriend blush placement also looks perfect on you! ✨
I love this series and your analysis of the concepts of types, essence and seasons 💗 I believe that I have a mix of flamboyant gamine and ethereal. I agree with you that these concepts has helped alot with seeing the beauty in "unconventional" features (I have an aquiline nose, sharp lips/jaw, large eyes and eyelids!) but the ethereal examples allow me to see they can be just as beautiful as "standard ideals" 💞
I always think these systems are so popular and then realize they’re kind of niche, and I think that’s partly because it’s about diverse beauty and finding one’s timeless style… rather than jumping on trends.
I was eagerly awaiting for you to do this essence, and of course, it did not disappoint! I remember when I first saw LOTR as a kid and being obsessed with Galadriel, Cate Blanchett was true perfection for that role. I definitely can relate to the first impressions you mentioned, sadly I don't think this would be my main essence but lately, I've been loving playing into it more with fashion and makeup. I think we all have things that we wish were different about ourselves, especially as women we're constantly bombarded with messages telling us that we should look a certain way, I mean I was self-conscious about my curly hair when I was 6 years old, which is crazy!! And I think as I've gotten older I have been trying to be more accepting of who I am, it's still hard, but I think that's what I've been loving about this essences series, it's like ok maybe I will never fit within a certain style and that's ok because you can play with certain elements of it and adapt them to your look, but you can also discover one that fits more naturally with you and embraces who you really are, even if it makes you "stand out" which as an introvert this is also a big issue for me! Loved the final look on you, you look so beautiful, and especially for this season sparkly magical makeup is the best! 🤍
I was so obsessed with Galadriel too. I was her for Halloween in grade 4! Yes, you’re so right about exploring these types of styling systems and finding unique ways to really embrace being YOU! It’s wild how as women we always want what we don’t have. I’m self conscious of my straight hair 🤯 Exploring beauty through this lens has really helped me though
@@evangelinemolly Aw that's so cute that you dressed as her for Halloween. I totally agree and I'm glad that this has helped you, hopefully we'll all get to a point where we are more accepting of ourselves!
You def have Ethereal Essence - I was watching with my son (he’s 12) and he always tells the truth about looks and he said you look beautiful ❤and you should have way more views
Ooo I’m looking forward to see what you choose to do for your personal style cobnation at the end of all this 😀I’ve started exploring these myself for fun and curiosity 😀😆, I think I am a combination of romantic classic and engenue
I loved this makeup!😍 I'm not ethereal, for sure, but you certainly have some of it, not just a bit. You look fantastic with this style!✨ I think Ethereal and Dramatic are like same coin, different sides. Both have impact, strong presence, some power to it, but Ethereal leans more subtle in a way. Watch this series inspire to look to my usual make up and the styles I like - or not - to explore.💖 I think I'm a Romantic with some classic and ingenue. Now I want to trye every single style and tell you! 😂
The coin analogy is a great way to put it! Hope you have fun exploring them all. I think ultimately we can all dip our toes into each essence, it’s just about accommodating the style to our own features to make it more approachable and natural!
Fashion for ethereal is so hard to make practical! But….i like wearing my hair in natural messy curls and waves with a few pieces pulled back and a few pieces in my face. I then really think eclectic style works with ethereal almost leaning into the out of time feel. If your jeans feel 90’s mom and your top feels 70’s rock and your makeup is what you did here and your hair is soft 1800s romantic you end up looking like someone who is immortal and wears all their favourite things from their experiences.
I’m pale skin, hair, eyes and would love to not bother darkening my brows but too scared. Brows def give your face definition. I recall when Jenny Mustard (sure she’s E) had no brows at all for a few years ~ I loved that!
I love this look! I think it would look exponentially more ethereal if you had copper mascara to match your hair! The reddish orange would just pull the whole look together in a very otherworldy way
Ooh that’s a very interesting idea! I wouldn’t have thought of that since the eye look was more cool/neutral but I think you’re right, it would add an otherworldly effect. Definitely going to try that!
I'm very attracted to ethereal energy. I prefer to channel ethereal style into my fashion by choice of colors and fabrics rather than the cut of them. My dream is to create the most ethereal gown for one of my renaissance faire looks- I already have a beautiful pastel green dress my friend gave me as a base. As far as fantasy, I think about the fae as a mix of that natural and ethereal energy- something wild and untamable, but also has that agelessness that can lean a bit cold and unknowable.
Oh thank you! My friend Yuliya made it quite a few years ago. She doesn’t seem to have it in stock right now as she’s mostly focusing on engagement and wedding jewelry instead of every day stuff, but if you wanna check out her work, it’s beautiful! instagram.com/yuliyacjewellery/profilecard/?igsh=c2M5ZndsNGhiamJn
I’ve been looking forward to your Ethereal Essence video! Can’t tell if I have an Ethereal Essence or if it’s just wishful thinking but I’ll definitely try to replicate your tutorial. 😂
i find this stuff so interesting and am binging this series ! even tho i feel that i have a pretty solid sense of self and style, i’m still always so curious about these things :p esp how others perceive me (would love to hear anybody’s input out of curiosity lol). excuse me while i further yap about myself bc i can’t 100% tell which essence(s) i am 🥲 i dressed as chappell roan for halloween (in my most recent short for reference)- i feel we have somewhat similar facial features, but you definitely resemble her more / in ways that i don’t !! i *like* to think that i’m ethereal essence (it’s def my fav hehe; *elves*). and have been told that i have a timeless face (you also give that renaissance painting vibe) + being called ethereal/otherwordly. but also idk ! bc i feel like i could be dominantly romantic or maybe dramatic in there ? natural ?? (im def an earth tones only girly). i have fairly large/“intense” doe eyes and a straight sharp nose, so i think those facial features stand out the most. if i remember correctly, my kibbe type was romantic bc of curves, but i’m also oddly boney at the same time. gotta retake these quizzes i guess lol 🧎🏻➡️
also haha i rewrote this like 50,000 times trying to make it come off less egotistical, so hopefully it doesn’t come off that way ! ;3; i also wanted to say that your vids kept showing up in my recommended and im glad that i finally subscribed ! yew seem up my alley for sure and i can’t stop thinking about how you resemble botticelli’s venus painting 🤍🤍 * also also, love how elven the final look came out
Girl you are gorgeous!!! Omg! You really rocked that Chappell look and I do feel we have some similar features. I DO see ethereal, with a mix of romantic, and maybe dramatic too! You have some great angles that contrast with your full lips and then an overall ethereal essence.
@@evangelinemolly wahh thank yew so much 🥹🥹 i def overlined the hale out of my lips for that look haha. excited to watch your newest vid on the lost essence :0 ! i did take a peak at the quizzes and it seems my body type is def theatrical romantic, and my style essences lean towards ethereal x natural 🧝🏼♀️🌿
I wonder if I have some ethereal essence, I often tend to go for a vampire, mermaid, fairy/nymph or witch inspired look, but in a much more dramatic way. Or maybe it's because I'm into fantasy, too.😂 My natural hair texture matches the way you styled your hair here (I usually wear it in a sleek braid tho'). I'll wait until you complete all essences because I'm not super familiar with them or how they would translate into makeup. Right now I'd guess I have Gamine, Dramatic and Ethereal essence. I'm Gamine in Kibbe's system and that's also what matches my fashion style, but I go for a more dramatic makeup than would be typically recommended Gamine.
Beautiful makeup look! Maybe a brown or burgundy mascara would leaned into the softness you created with the other elements. I definitely think that you have ethereal, romantic and natural essences!
@@evangelinemolly Not really... I only have the Too Faced mascara Better than Sex in Chocolate and I like it when I want a subtle effect on my eyes. It's also really buildable and volumizing also.
Ellie Jean Royden is a great resource. She has so many YT videos, IG reels, and more. She even does professional consultations. It may be a bit pricey, I’m not sure! But the more you learn about this system, the easier it is to understand, especially if you practice typing while say, watching a movie. But if it’s in your resources to get it professionally done, Ellie is such a sweetheart. instagram.com/elliejeanroyden?igsh=NGtxNWNpM2pqNDNu
There’s def been a lot of misunderstanding about Ethereal eyes - some people were saying Ethereal has wide spaced eyes but it’s really more Ingenue. Darryl Hannah is one of the best examples and has more close set eyes. The Ethereals that do have wide set eyes tend to also have Ingenue
I think I have some Etherial essence but I have no idea how to utilize it when shimmer, dewy, and glossy makeup fades so quickly? Is it my products or is this just an Instagram essence?
Ok gloss will ALWAYS fade but for glow, I prefer powder highlights to liquid or balm for longevity. Setting spray can seal it in for extra wear but I just tend to go a bit more intense when I apply my makeup to accommodate the slight fading. For shimmer, a glitter glue is a must, or eyelids that are prepped with a bit of concealer for tackiness. Try the NYX glitter glue!
I solve the problem of including it in my every day, even office look, by just leaving the eyes without mascara. About the clothes, just using somewhat sheer fabrics, do help

i find this stuff so interesting and am binging this series ! even tho i feel that i have a pretty solid sense of self and style, i’m still always so curious about these things :p esp how others perceive me (would love to hear anybody’s input out of curiosity lol). excuse me while i further yap about myself bc i can’t 100% tell which essence(s) i am 🥲
i dressed as chappell roan for halloween (in my most recent short for reference)- i feel we have somewhat similar facial features, but you definitely resemble her more / in ways that i don’t !! i *like* to think that i’m ethereal essence (it’s def my fav hehe; *elves*). and have been told that i have a timeless face (you also give that renaissance painting vibe) + being called ethereal/otherwordly. but also idk ! bc i feel like i could be dominantly romantic or maybe dramatic in there ? natural ?? (im def an earth tones only girly). i have fairly large/“intense” doe eyes and a straight sharp nose, so i think those facial features stand out the most. if i remember correctly, my kibbe type was romantic bc of curves, but i’m also oddly boney at the same time. gotta retake these quizzes i guess lol 🧎🏻➡️
also haha i rewrote this like 50,000 times trying to make it come off less egotistical, so hopefully it doesn’t come off that way ! ;3;
i also wanted to say that your vids kept showing up in my recommended and im glad that i finally subscribed ! yew seem up my alley for sure and i can’t stop thinking about how you resemble botticelli’s venus painting 🤍🤍
* also also, love how elven the final look came out
Girl you are gorgeous!!!
Oooh that sounds like a really fun blend!!
Beautiful makeup look! Maybe a brown or burgundy mascara would leaned into the softness you created with the other elements.
I definitely think that you have ethereal, romantic and natural essences!
I’ve been on the hunt for a good burgundy mascara if you know any?
Yes, I’m definitely leaning into that as the blend!
@@evangelinemolly Not really... I only have the Too Faced mascara Better than Sex in Chocolate and I like it when I want a subtle effect on my eyes. It's also really buildable and volumizing also.
Do you have any recommendations if we are struggling to find our own essence of where we can get it done for us?
Ellie Jean Royden is a great resource. She has so many YT videos, IG reels, and more. She even does professional consultations. It may be a bit pricey, I’m not sure! But the more you learn about this system, the easier it is to understand, especially if you practice typing while say, watching a movie. But if it’s in your resources to get it professionally done, Ellie is such a sweetheart.

I thought it seemed strange that they would have wide apart eyes too! Lots of sources said that but you’re right, the wide eye look is very ingenue
Cant you do Make up of Hurrem Sultan? 😊
Oooh I’ll look that one up 👀
I think I have some Etherial essence but I have no idea how to utilize it when shimmer, dewy, and glossy makeup fades so quickly?
Is it my products or is this just an Instagram essence?
Ok gloss will ALWAYS fade but for glow, I prefer powder highlights to liquid or balm for longevity. Setting spray can seal it in for extra wear but I just tend to go a bit more intense when I apply my makeup to accommodate the slight fading. For shimmer, a glitter glue is a must, or eyelids that are prepped with a bit of concealer for tackiness. Try the NYX glitter glue!
@ thanks for the reply. I’m giving the essence makeup a try.

I solve the problem of including it in my every day, even office look, by just leaving the eyes without mascara. About the clothes, just using somewhat sheer fabrics, do help
This is something I’ve been loving lately! And not having to wash off mascara at the end of the day is a bonus!
His name is pronounced with a hard C sound btw, as in Killian. The blush placement just makes your face look shorter and rounder.
Ah like Killian the perfumer!
