UPDATE: A lovely follower who saw Kitchener in person clarified that Liv Tyler is NOT largely Angelic (only 10%). She has striking contrast whihc puts her in the ROMANTIC + INGENUE blend. So if you have striking contrast, you may find yourself veering more into the Romantic essence 👍
Interesting. Angelic essence is the only essence I'm sure i have. I've been told I remind people of Liv Tyler many times, but that's because I usually dye my hair black because I want intensity. Even though I'm naturally a blondish colour. Now I'm wondering if that's disturbing my angelic essence.
It always felt off how Liv Tyler would be typed as an ethereal because of how striking she was. It always felt like she was wearing a costume in her lotr role unlike tilda swinton who looked like she was an actual mystical being that got placed in a movie
I've been told I look like an alien, and I always thought I had almost dragon-like features. Knowing about my ethereal style essence has made me so much more accepting of these features! Great video
What's the chance you'll do indepth vids like these on combination styles? Like Classic+Ethereal. You've the best breakdowns of complex fashion/style sciences. For people like me who are on a journey of transformation & self-reinvention, this vid has been just fantastic!
ugh i love how you use women of all sizes, races and ages. thank you!! this is so beautifully put together and edited. thank you for also thinking of every question a viewer might ask and answering so eloquently 🤍
I have ethereal essence and this video helped me understand why flowy dresses and lightweight/transparent fabrics looked good on me. People have told me that I look like an angel when I wear clothes that are harmonious with my essence. Thank you for this video. It's very detailed and helpful! And I'm happy that you included other ethnicities because almost all the examples I've seen had Caucasian/white people and it made me feel as if us colored folk wouldn't have angelic/ethereal essence.
I think it's quite difficult to find our essences ourselves. Sometimes we tend to "force" it a little, we want to see the traits of certain essence in us, because we find it attractive. I noticed that especially with an ethereal essence, because who wouldn't like to look like an angel 😉Other people see our real vibe, we can overlook it sometimes
i got my essence blend down to a T from years of observing how people would describe me. I realized I was a blend of classic and ingenue from years of being described as being "cute", "innocent", "classy", "elegant", " formal", "regal". And I'm certain I dont have dramatic in my blend despite being called "regal" because I've been told how soft and unassuming I looked how I looked like I couldnt hurt a fly. lol.
@feaww5085 Are you a soft classic too? me fr, though I also have really prominent deep set eyes and under eye circles, so I've been reading about ethereal and the "oneiric" essence described on reddit recently
So true. I have been typed as a romantic ingenue classic. Which I loathe. Ethereal natural suits my personality, but my parents tell me I look drab in clothes I like
I've been told I resemble a mermaid, witch, LOTR elf, angel, vampire, fairy... but couldn't figure out how to not look so awkward in my "normie" clothes. I don't want to look like I'm always on my way to a Renaissance faire. This was so helpful, thank you!
This is definitely my essence & it is pretty difficult to style on a daily basis! But now I understand why when I give up and just put on a gray oversize sweatshirt, a white oversize t shirt, or soft gray sweatpants, I actually feel so beautiful in them 😂
Same...i also have this essence and i am a flam Gam... luckily for me, i can wear this essence everyday as in our country, shiny and fairy stones decorated garments (precisely sarees) are the beauty standard.
@@Gabriellearrudadesign I loved that you referenced her though. She's probably my favorite artist in the world! In other settings she seems to have an ingenue essence blended in there.
Ive tried to have friends type me and ethereal/angelic comes up very often as a possible suggestion for me. I never saw it in myself because I’ve struggled with my weight and EDs my entire life and have body dysmorphia. It was very hard to find examples of Ethereal/Angelic women who weren’t tall, willowy, very thin and slender people who are for the most part Caucasian (and I am none of those things). I appreciate that you showed diverse examples here-people of different ethnicities and body types. I look best in the drapes and flowy silhouettes and lighter fabrics like you mentioned, even though in theory those clothes shouldn’t be flattering on me (I have more of a natural/gamine body) but I never saw ethereal in my facial features at all, but now that I saw your video maybe I can try assessing again. Thank you :)
One of the most common compliments I get is how ethereal I look. I used to take that as an offense because even as a young child my grandpa would comment on how I looked as though I belonged in a renaissance painting and having an untrained eye for aesthetics I thought it just meant I looked ugly. But now that I am older i appreciate the ethereal so much!
I love how inclusive this video is! Seeing photos of different races, body types and even hair textures is so helpful. After watching so many videos with almost no diversity this was so refreshing to watch. Also, I love how you formate your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing and you have gained a new subscriber!
Just FYI, Jang Manwol is a character played by a K-pop singer IU. :D I totally agree with your assessment though, btw. What's interesting also is that she's considered to be bright spring in color analysis, so ethereal folks can do quite bright colors, as long as it contains that "antique, otherworldly" quality to the clothes. :D
I think the reason many people think there is crossover between ethereal and naturals is because of their often wide-set eyes. It gives that dreamy look. I often get told I look like a mermaid because of my wide-set eyes but I don't have any vertically long features in my face. (lol update: I'm a verified romantic w/ ingenue essence)
Yes I loved that a plus-sized person was included because for this essence I have only seen videos of skinny goddesses and it was hard to imagine a fat person like me with an angelic essence.
I found out I was a soft autumn yesterday and realized I was Ethereal and Romantic !!! These videos really helped confirm that!! I'm so sure I'm a soft natural in kibbe tho
Only way I know I have ethereal/angelic qualities is because strangers will tell me I look like a fairy, mermaid or avatar, often. And everything you’re saying does make sense
I feel fairly confident I'm primarily Ethereal but with about 30% Natural but also saying I'm Ethereal makes me feel a little the middle school girls who insist their eyes change colors because they want to be special 😝 but the amount of times I've been called a cryptid, been called graceful and mysterious and the amount of times I startle people because I move so delicately and quietly I feel like I have to be an ethereal. All my fave clothes are light and flowy and flutter in the wind, but they're all very earthy and natural
I feel that high contrast or really low contrast creat a similar striking other worldly effect. The high contrast might pull more romantic but I think it depends on overall vibe. For example, Cate Blanchet looks like an angel while Keria Knightly looks like a fairy. If that makes sense.
Thank you SO MUCH for doing the kibbe merge. I'm a SG with ethereal & ingenue essence and I kept feeling like SG and ethereal were kind of mutually exclusive.
I know this isn’t me AT ALL but still loved the video! Super helpful to see examples and think through what’s not going to work for me about them. A video on outfit photos would be bomb!
Same! I love long, loose flowy dresses and hair, but they can look a little shapeless and straggly on me. As a SD with a probably Classic/Dramatic/Natural essence blend, I can handle a bit of looseness, but I also need some drape, curve, and soft structure. I also do better with moderately long lines rather than super long ones. I had similar insights into why things do or don't work for me while watching videos on the other essences. It's just as helpful to know what doesn't work as it is to know what does.
I'm like... a sprite. A mixture of gamine and angelic, like bjork. I'm proud of that lol. I may have a tiny dip of dramatic in how I do my eyes but it's like 20%. This is so in depth I love it.
YESSSSSS I hope you're going to do this for all the essences! I have a mismatched body type + essence combo (soft dramatic with gamine essence) and seeing how you would marry those 2, like you showed near the end by going through each style ID, would be so helpful! I absolutely love your videos and all the examples you always put in them. Just absolutely top notch for helping me to understand how to implement these systems
SD with gamine essence sounds gorgeous! I can't think of examples of celebs with that combo, but I do know that Jameela Jamil and Barbra Streisand are two SDs who often incorporate gamine influences into their outfits but with more length and curve adapted for their frames. The effect is often quite playful and sensual. And Alex Chung is a Dramatic with Gamine Essence who wears a lot of long sharp lines with Gamine and Ingenue details for an edgy twee effect. You might get some inspiration from them. Thanks to Ellie-Jean Royden for content on Streisand: ruclips.net/video/fRty4ZD--SE/видео.htmlsi=a2zA3ED7ppKY8RZY and Chung ruclips.net/user/shorts-bxilCJRSiM
This was so illuminating for me personally bc I was very confused how I could be long and slim yet soft at the same time and how I looked good in long light flowy clothes even though my kibbe type contradicted that
Wow, this is so informative! I’ve binged several of your videos and I’m fairly sure I’m ethereal-ingenue-romantic essence. I just floated the idea to my husband, and, without explaining any of the types, he immediately agreed. When I broke them down slightly more, he agreed more. Ethereal feels most at home to me and how I would dress all the time (in elven, flowy gowns) all the time if it was suitable for dog walking and cat box cleaning! I love how much detail you go into, and the amount of photos you show it’s so very helpful! Thanks for helping me finally understand the essences and feel at home with them!
This is not my essence but the level of detail and care in your videos about essences always give me a creativity boost to draw my original character designs, It gives me an essence as the character foundation and help me to make them cohesive based in the outfits and hair recommendations you give for it. Thank You 💙
Super informative and professional as always, love how practical and concise your approach is. Hoping to see more about Natural essence, especially what is different from the ID type ☺️
Perfect timing--I've been doing a deep dive into 16th century dress for an eventual (first) Ren Faire and I've since realized how easy it would be to bring some of those elements (hair, jewelry, color palette) forward to the present day. I think it's also possible to bring in an ethereal look via scarves, wraps, shawls, capes--as in, say, the Irish ruana. (And I now know how I pulled off a peach parfait of an evening gown with ruching in my early twenties--35% ethereal essence is enough to make itself noticed, I think.) Thank you so much for this latest!
Such an illuminating video! I have felt like I have an ethereal essence ever since I learned about this! I've also been told by many I'm ethereal with a floating, ancient quality to me. HOWEVER I feel like I really identify with the dramatic essence too! I've been struggling lately cause how can someone be ETHEREAL AND DRAMATIC at the same time?! It's like being round and square at the same time..this video not only reassured that I can be both these essences but also reminded me that human beings contain multitudes
@@saralbruno It's a beautiful contradiction, to be sure--and it's good to remember that humans are contradictory as a matter of course. I don't hear "ancient" all that often, but someone did once tell me I reminded them of an old portrait. All I can say is, go forth and revel in your multitudes!
i remember in school my sister would always use me for her art because it was easier for her, and her teacher would always compliment how angelic my face was. i think it is a mix of my slight upturned eyes, round face, pointy chin and round mouth. i never really understood why flowey clothes looks better on me, such a great video 💕
I was struggling tu put myself into Kibbe's body types. I thought I am somewhere between soft classic and romantic. Then I discovered your channel ❤. Now I know I am defenetely ingenue, angelic, romantic and a little bit classic (i don't know percentages). I have a baby face with some classic vibes, small hazel eyes, pale skin, brown curly/wavy hair. My body is 5'5" proportional with small hands and feet and some curves. When I was teenager I looked mature then it stopped and now I always hear that I look much younger. I am 34 and look 10 years younger. I like pin up style, draped clothes, ruffles, bows, small prints, sexy dresses but i also look good in come classic stylizations. At my wedding I had a dress somewhere between ancient greek and empire style and I looked beautiful. It proves me that I have strong angelic essence. I am really happy I've discovered your chanell it's really helpfull.❤ (Sorry for my english, It's not my native 😅)
Thank you for this wonderful exploration! I was analyzed by John Kitchener with a 30%/25% Natural and Angelic split. So I lead with Natural, but interestingly, none of my recs are actually what you think of as strictly Natural other than being soft and comfortable. In fact, he really talked more about the Angelic than the Natural type with me. That puzzled me for a long time.
Angelic essence is mesmerizing, one of my favorites, but I'm so glad I don't have it in my blend because it seems so hard to accommodate. I'll settle with just admiring these goddesses from afar haha
I so appreciate that you have so many variations of the different types in each of your videos, and of varying ethnicities and size/shapes too! So so helpful for someone like myself who doesnt fit conventional beauty standards! ❤
Finally, a style I can identify with. I am a flamboyant natural but always am drawn to the Angelic vibe clothes and Jewellery. I guess I found my way myself but having it as part of a system will help me get everything working together. Interested in make up for this as well.
This is great, I LOVE how you adapt these ideas to casual/workout/etc outfits that people can actually wear! Really excited for the series. I think I have dramatic and angelic essence (angular features/jawline but with rounded edges and I think I look better in softer materials), so it's an interesting challenge figuring out how to apply both...
I’ve never fit until I heard of angelic. So so happy to have a direction I’ve been researching but very little find very little . I’m struggling with cold weather and angelic over 40 it looks to young at times or like costumes I would love more info on embracing this style practically 🙏 thank you
Perfect video for me, who realised to has quiet a lot of ethereal essence. Thank you so much!!!😎🤩🧚🏼♀️ The narrow elongation in my upper torso, neck, hands, feet, and face (shape, placement of my eyes, nose, cheaks) is very prominent, being a low contrast soft autumn and my vibe fit this! Cate Blanchet has always been my favourite style icon. Once a professional stylist told me I remind her of Tilda S, which I couldn't see in my features, besides having really fair skin. But thinking ethereal this makes sense now. I am a dc, pear, 1.67m, chasing my lovely toddler, but soon back in office (connect to, advice and even inspiring people). My hair has grown ethereal in the last years, soft long waves, which is a great boost for this essence. Yeah! I love art nouveaux. Now I have a reason to look forward to this kind of jewellery in my wardrobe😍 I find myself puzzled about how much I want to go in this direction, so your advice to slowly increase and observe will be put to action. - my son just woke up - sending lots of love for all your advice!
Had to stop video to shout Yes to analyzing outfit photos. I think seeing yourself is very hard, so much easier to see others. Help. Great video here. I can not imagine how long it took to do such a comprehensive work.
I'm so glad I found your channel! Can't wait for any the types but especially ingenue! I feel like it's probably the least socially acceptable for anyone over the age of 16 because of the "fashion rules" we've all been brainwashed with
OMG u suit this so much! I think u definitely suit the light flowy mystical vintage vibes! I think when ur trying to go for feminine/pretty this is it for u!
I loved your explanation of the Ethereal essence! I’ve been frustrated by the limitations of the Kibbe types for tall women. None of the options applicable to me as at 5’10” fit, but the Ethereal essence does! My body is very long and straight and I have a long face. However, I don’t have any sharpness to me nor broad muscularity. I have a subtle softness to my facial features, body, and coloring. I’ve been color analyzed in the Sci/art system as True Summer, which is low to medium contrast. My preferred jewelry pieces all fit your descriptions of Ethereal essence pieces and I feel most at home adding ethereal elements to my outfits. I think I’m a blend of Classic and Ethereal essences with a touch of Natural. I’m looking forward to you continuing this series to learn more about the other essences! One thing I wish you’d add that bothers me about the essence and Kibbe descriptions I’ve read is that short hair can be an option. My hair is fine and thin, a texture that does not lend itself to the Ethereal styles you depicted. My preferred styles range from long pixies to layered bobs, always with soft movement. I love to wear long earrings that add the gentle, elongated, s-curves hair length would otherwise provide. Thanks for your great videos!
All of the examples of Soft Dramatics I’ve seen are quite curvy compared to me, so I haven’t considered it. My self analysis based on a full body photo results in Dramatic Classic with a couple of different quizzes. I’ve been told by others that I don’t look as tall as I am, probably because my arms and legs appear average length. I am quite long waisted though, and that adds to my body length. If I look at myself without comparison to others, I’d be Dramatic Classic. If I follow Kibbe’s rules (if they actually are rules) about height, I don’t fit anywhere.
FINALLY! A look that sees height as soft and flowy instead of sharp and Yang! I am pretty tall but I AM NOT dramatic 😂 my body is too soft looking. It makes me really happy that there’s an essence that makes elongation feminine! ❤
Beautiful! I loved the diversity of examples you've brought and the fact that it is possible for high constrast women to have this essence and adopt some style elements into our wardrobe. 🧚🏻♀️🧜🏻♀️
I thought maybe I had ingenue because there is something light and innocent about me. So I pulled out a bunch of photos taken over the years, looking more closely at my face. I'm seeing Angelic Essence. No matter what I wear from black leather jackets to boho looks, anything...my heart shaped face with large round eyes brings a soft, radiant vibe. I also have freshness which might come from my soft natural type energy. Great job on these videos!
I’m glad you found it helpful but you may want to explore ingenue too, they more commonly have those traits. So I wouldn’t eliminate it w/o some further delving 👍🏻
girl I love your videos so much, I would love it if you could put in timestamps for each section, so we can go back to certain parts that we want to go back to
So I’ve just discovered your content and I feel so incredibly excited to both binge your past content and await your new content with baited breath!!!!! THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS SO ACCESSIBLE!!!! This is what us normie fashion fans who don’t live in the fashion hubs NEED in our lives. Thank you soooo much!
Great video, just I couldn't help but notice you called the lady at 26:55 Jang Man-Wol. That is the character's name, the actress (and singer!) is a Korean K-pop idol called Lee Ji-Eun, better known as IU. I would not be surprised if her essences were a blend of ethereal, classic and ingenue 😊 She's awesome and Hotel del Luna is the best!
Thank you so much for going through all the possible essence combos! I've long wondered if I had ethereal essence--i look good in metallics and gauzes, I often get compared to faces in Renaissance portraiture, and people have commented on how natural I look in tiaras or costume-y jewelry, or draped Greek clothing for reenactments. Since I'm short and curvy and I tend to be somewhat overwhelmed by shapelessness I always assumed these things were just odd offshoots of my romantic shape, rather than actual ethereal essence, especially since I'm so high contrast and dark in coloring and am usually told i can handle a lot of weight in terms of jewelry and fabric, which is exactly contrary to ethereal. But seeing Kat Dennings, Priyanka Chopra, and Deepika padukone, who I've all been compared to frequently in terms of vibe, really confirmed that ethereal is probably part of my blend!
I'm short and curvy, so I thought I couldn't have ethereal, but some of these things are my best looks- long flowing hair, halo hair/headpieces, slight sandals with ties/straps, low contrast muted colors, and floaty skirts. I have been told I have a "Greek goddess" look. Thanks!
I can't wait to see your breakdown of ingenue!! I think this essence is so difficult to balance with any of the others, since the strong yin can be so easily overwhelmed and contrasted by classic or natural touches.
Thank you Gabrielle for this video! I'm happy you showed women with different contrast. I know Kitchener said that Ethereal were low contrast but it kind of rub me the wrong way. Ethereals comes from mythology/arts mainly, and what a being from those worlds could look like would differ from a continent to another and would be closer to the beauty of the area. It would eliminate a big amount of the population too, by extension. It kind of feel like the "Blond is the good girl and the Brunette is the mean one" which in many ways perpetuate a bad ideology. When thinking of Lisa Bonet, we cannot deny her other-worldly qualities. The topic of essences is just so rich and interesting, it's always great to see it evolve as a better tool to help people!
Wow this really helped me and made sense about the dramatic outfits being too strong and overwhelming for this type, also the part about abstract shapes being better than hyper-realism….so fascinating
Stevie Nicks has been my style icon and favorite singer for decades, and I think she is a gorgeous example of the ethereal/angelic essence. Of all the essences, this feels the most authentic for me, although I feel most myself wearing black, scarlet, and blues and violet, especially in velvet, silk, and lace, maybe a blend of Victorian and fairy goth. 🔮🐦⬛🖤
What a WONDERFUL video! Much more than a video, it's a lesson about Kibbe body types , ethereal essence, and how to blend and interpret it all. THANK YOU 🤗
Yes!! What a great video. It was so helpful to see a range of different ethereal people and styles. as I'm learning more about Kitchener essences, I think ethereal is an often overlooked part of my essence. No wonder Greek goddess was my favorite Halloween costume 😜
I beleive this is my main essence. Ingenue is my second. I'm very pale with greyish green eyes and wavy, very light blonde hair. Color season light spring. I always get compliments when I wear low contrast colors of lace, tule, silk, linen, or chiffon. I have always looked great when dressing as an angel or greek goddess but terrible dressed as a black cat for instance. I have a kibbe romantic body type so I've found that loose, light draped fabrics look great with waist emphasis like a low contrast colored waist belt. I usually wear dresses, but have found that white linen pants look better than jeans, worn with a lace, chiffon, linen, or satin top. It seems like most people who are angelic could be typed as light or soft/muted due to low contrast. These are rare color seasons too, so it makes sense why it's rare. Definitely harder to shop for than other essences
I think i might have this essence in the kitchener typing. Growing up and even now at 32yo other women have told me i look like an elf and i feel a little vain saying this but also like a goddess. In kibbe I most closely resemble a soft natural. Sharp lines always made me feel overwhelmed and dry in an unhealthy way(as if i need to drink a lot of water lmao). Gamine lines look off on me since im tall (5'9), and romantic outfits get something right but the well put together and tight glamour look is still off on me. Heavy fabrics just look like they weigh me down or drown me. The best outfits have always been those that are softly draped with movement.
I don't know why, but whenever I see Jessica Chastain I feel like she has this ethereal essence. In movies like "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" or "Crimson Peak" she gives me that vibe.
Wow this is definitely me, I wish I had found this yrs ago. I had to figure a lot of this out the hard way. I'm so glad to have some guidelines finally. I think I'm also romantic and ingenue I think it was?? I have to go back. But I'm so glad to incorporate into my wardrobe now. Thank you! Too bad I found this at 40 instead of 18 lol
Thank you! Now i finally understand why i look better with hairstyles that are flowy/wavy and elongated than i do with voluminous and "smooth" ones, despite being a soft classic
I’ve just learned to lean into it. I’m a former fashion designer and oh, how I love dramatic clothing. I think my styling knowledge helps me pull off a wider array of looks. But I’m definitely an angelic ingenue. I designed my prom dress as a white silk crepe goddess look with a draped V neckline, an integrated cape in the back, and some Grecian pleating at the waist. It’s the best I’ve ever looked, I’m certain. This video might make me look into making my own clothes again for the angelic essence, and buying ingenue/gamine pieces (I hate patterns!)
The dress you designed sounds stunning!!!! With talent and skills like that you could design outfits for any significant life events you experience if you wanted to. It might not have been a sharp, bold look like the dramatic style essence but I think capes are always super dramatic in a general sense of the word! They add so much movement and really emphasise anything you do!!
I think a better way is to say if you can easily imagine them in a certain environment, I don't think they're giving them profiles to 'restrict' them and say they only belong to that lifestyle or should upheave their entire life to fit this brief. They're not meant to be realistic but if you could easily see them in that environment then that is an indicator for them having that essence.
Fair enough but they both (kibbe and Kitcheners) can kind of give clothing suggestions around these worlds. Like kibbe saying dramatics only take taxis 😂
@@Gabriellearrudadesign Yeah it's like their ideal situation where they would look the most at home and if you're in an especially privileged position where you can pick your lifestyle based on your aesthetic then all the power to you lol. But realistic-thinking people can take small little touches here and there to feel more in tune with themselves too. I think you would love the channel 'Heaven Sent Honey', she's not trying to sell anything either but makes countless videos on her love of various aesthetics and she just really understands women.
This was so informative! After the video I feel certain I have ethereal essence. I would say that my mix is ethereal(40) ingenue (40) natural( 20). Waiting for your video on natural essence!
These archetypes makes so much more sense than choosing a specific aesthetic! I definitely resonate to the ethereal vibe and it explains why I'm attracted to certain fabrics and silhouettes regardless of the occasion or the feeling of the outfit. Thank you ❤
Ive been draped as a Blue Spring Natural Romamtic through House of Color. But when i took my test, Im very yin. I still feel i have some angelic essence in there. If we had to get technical, i feel more woodland fairy 😆 i love long flowy dresses, but in a green with browns. More natutal elements with an ethereal essense.
Thank you for this video! At first I doubted that I could be this type, but I now think that I am. I used to volunteer at a historical park for a yearly autumn festival where I dressed in flowy dresses from the 1790s. I was always told that I looked exactly from that era with those types of clothes on, and now I know that is because I have a dominant angelic essence (possibly with a little ingenue, I look somewhat young for my age). Ever since covid hit, I've been working from home. While this has been a HUGE blessing, it means I've been dressing in mostly casual clothes and I've been feeling a bit boring fashionwise lately. I've been looking into all these type tests to try and figure out what I should look for to spice up my closet. I've successfully found that I am a theatrical romantic with an angelic essence, as well as a light summer in terms of color palette. :) I love that you included people of color as well as bigger girls in your examples. In all the articles I've read about, I have only seen blonde white people (like me, oops :x). I'm glad to know how this essence appears on a wider variety of people.
Thank you so much for this wonderful video!! I'm an hourglass flamboyant natural with ethereal essence. Since my style journey, I've noticed that I can easily wear shiny and glittery fabrics and smaller, ornated jewellery. Which is usualy seen as too glamorous and too detailed for FN. I guess it is because of my essence that I can wear these things.
Wow! So much amazing info. You’ve opened up a whole new world for me - and I now enjoy people watching and picking their essences! And yes please for the outfit picture series analysis video!
I've always thought of my mom as a natural (in kibbe she definitely is) but i wonder if she has some ethereal too because a lot of the pointers here are things i look for when buying her clothes. just bought her a very ethereal top today in fact! trying to type my own self is miserable but it's so much easier to type other people haha
people always tell me straight away i look like anya taylor joy, they say its the face or the eyes not so much the mouth or bottom of the face (a few days ago my friend said i looked a lot like a bratz doll and another agreed "because of the eyes and the lips"). i am very flattered by these comparisons as one might imagine but it was kind of a curve ball in my kibbe/kitchener learning process , i have no idea what my essence might be.
You are so thorough. As a FN, I was wondering if I’d be able to wear silk. I still choose honor my kibbe FN lines with sturdy clothes but allow the colors and hair to convey angelic essence. Earthiness and angelic otherworldliness are opposing. I think about woodland fairies as the great merger.
@@laurelb4193 that’s a good perspective. On my way to buy that $200 dress! Jk. I should budget. Styling is so complicated. There’s so many things you have to honor and neglecting one will show in disharmony. Also, the limitation of we can only buy what is available, not the inventions of our minds.
@@genya__ hee hee yes, I was wondering whether faux silk or silk-“y”fabric would also work for naturals bc real silk is pretty high end😅. Been collecting style knowledge while in between jobs, think I’ll make some drawings and notes for when the $ is flowing again and I no longer have time to figure it out. While I’m not buying stuff it’s fun to at least imagine. Thank you for the idea of woodland fairies, as a soft natural I love this idea, esp since my friends say I already dress like an elf 😂 and we are planning to move to an area in the Pacific NW I like to call the Enchanted Forest!
@@laurelb4193 For a soft natural, silk absolutely works. But work on that dollar first. And wow! Sounds like all your stars are aligning and you are living a life that is harmonious to your design. 😊
I actually realized I must have an ethereal essence by accident. Well, I was never really sure. But then I tried my grandma's dress. Which fits your examples if clothes for the ethereal really well. I might be biased, but It fit perfectly 😊 Oh, and would you say Björk has an ethereal essence? I often get told I look like her, when she was younger😂
Wow, that checks with my 1st impression of her in the lord of the rings🤯
I think I am dramatic classic with ethereal essence, can it be possible??
@@ivannagonzalez6791 of course! .. btw I'm surprised with the update ...
It always felt like she was wearing a costume in her lotr role unlike tilda swinton who looked like she was an actual mystical being that got placed in a movie
this video made me realize I have way more ethereal essence than I thought...
You're welcome! And I'm so glad you found it helpful!!
But no women with obvious disabilities.
Guess we still don't count when it comes to 'diversity'.
@@SKOLAH I apologize for this oversight, I’ll remedy it for future videos
Yes!!!
yeah her examples are better than the ones from the guy who made it. you can tell he was only using pale women lol.
I have ethereal essence and this video helped me understand why flowy dresses and lightweight/transparent fabrics looked good on me. People have told me that I look like an angel when I wear clothes that are harmonious with my essence.
Thank you for this video. It's very detailed and helpful! And I'm happy that you included other ethnicities because almost all the examples I've seen had Caucasian/white people and it made me feel as if us colored folk wouldn't have angelic/ethereal essence.
is this a joke😂
@@whatever4566 Why would it be?
@@winterzealot who even call themself ethereal looking how narcissistic can you be
@@whatever4566 wow just describing an essence that you personally have is narcissistic? Lol you must be fun at parties HAHAHA
@@onlystarsknow767 you have ringu essence
But now I understand why when I give up and just put on a gray oversize sweatshirt, a white oversize t shirt, or soft gray sweatpants, I actually feel so beautiful in them 😂
Hey, how did you find out that this is your essence?
Same...i also have this essence and i am a flam Gam... luckily for me, i can wear this essence everyday as in our country, shiny and fairy stones decorated garments (precisely sarees) are the beauty standard.
Same
Same! I wear my boyfriends sweaters a lot and they look great on me 😂
I love hoodies jackets track suits lol and I am FN in Kibbe
Great video! But thats IU (Lee Ji-Eun) at 26:57 not Jang MangWo. She is the lead in Hotel del Luna and a big K-pop artist.
Yes, thank you. I’ve been corrected a few times 🙃 totally a mistake, apologies!
@@Gabriellearrudadesign I loved that you referenced her though. She's probably my favorite artist in the world! In other settings she seems to have an ingenue essence blended in there.
@@lounaannajung4454for me she is more ingenue dominant than ethereal.
I've been told I looked like I came out of a painting from the 16th century (and other similar things) and I also wondered if that meant I was ugly.
ah i was told this as well ! its always been my favorite compliment. i’m so happy that i fully leaned into it over the years
I love how inclusive this video is! Seeing photos of different races, body types and even hair textures is so helpful. After watching so many videos with almost no diversity this was so refreshing to watch. Also, I love how you formate your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing and you have gained a new subscriber!
Thank you so much! I’m glad it resonated and welcome 🥰
Yes yes yes!!!
Just FYI, Jang Manwol is a character played by a K-pop singer IU. :D
I totally agree with your assessment though, btw.
Where do you get verified?
Great video. I love how you used a variety of skin tones, sizes, etc for example pictures. Can’t wait for the rest of your essence breakdowns
Thank you so much!
Yes I loved that a plus-sized person was included because for this essence I have only seen videos of skinny goddesses and it was hard to imagine a fat person like me with an angelic essence.
Can’t wait for the rest of this series! You’re so thorough!
Thank you!!
I found out I was a soft autumn yesterday and realized I was Ethereal and Romantic !!! These videos really helped confirm that!! I'm so sure I'm a soft natural in kibbe tho
This is EXTREMELY helpful. I can't find one content before about Ethereal essence that can make me understand my essence.
And, yeah, great that you give the examples of asian/mixrace/black girl, that really helps to clarify things
I'm glad you still got something out of it!!
Very cool mix! I’d definitely be proud of that 👍🏻
You kinda look like chinese actress dilireba
Thanks to Ellie-Jean Royden for content

This was so illuminating for me personally bc I was very confused how I could be long and slim yet soft at the same time and how I looked good in long light flowy clothes even though my kibbe type contradicted that
Same here
Wow, this is so informative!
Thank You 💙
19:35 Yes, It would be so awesome to get video on evaluating outfit photos from you! 🤩 Thank you for all hard work and attention to details.
Super informative and professional as always, love how practical and concise your approach is. Hoping to see more about Natural essence, especially what is different from the ID type ☺️
Don't have ethereal essence but watched anyway because I always get some ideas to take away.
I'd love to see a video like this for every essence
I am working on doing all the essences! And I'm so glad you found it helpful!
I’m glad it helped you put the puzzle pieces together! Sounds gorgeous
I am really happy I've discovered your chanell it's really helpfull.❤
(Sorry for my english, It's not my native 😅)
I always get so pumped when you upload a new video! Love your channel!
Thank you!! That means a lot 🥰🥰
Im going to be adding a short for ethereal makeup! And im glad it helped!
i feel like i have an otherworldly face but in more of an alien way than a angel way. sharpness does compliment me
I really like how you explain they origin of the classification systems. It clarifies a lot. Also, thank you for the examples
You’re so welcome! 😊
So so happy to have a direction
I’ve been researching but very little find very little . I’m struggling with cold weather and angelic over 40 it looks to young at times or like costumes I would love more info on embracing this style practically 🙏 thank you
I love how you included every sizes in the pictures
Perfect video for me, who realised to has quiet a lot of ethereal essence. Thank you so much!!!😎🤩🧚🏼♀️
The narrow elongation in my upper torso, neck, hands, feet, and face (shape, placement of my eyes, nose, cheaks) is very prominent, being a low contrast soft autumn and my vibe fit this!
Now I have a reason to look forward to this kind of jewellery in my wardrobe😍
I find myself puzzled about how much I want to go in this direction, so your advice to slowly increase and observe will be put to action.
Have you considered Soft Dramatic? It's literally a Dramatic that is softened rather than sharp.
Just to add, Soft Dramatic lends itself exceptionally well to the ethereal essence.
I would love to see a deep dive on the natural essence! You are the best at explaining these 🤩
I thought maybe I had ingenue because there is something light and innocent about me.
So I wouldn’t eliminate it w/o some further delving 👍🏻
girl I love your videos so much, I would love it if you could put in timestamps for each section, so we can go back to certain parts that we want to go back to
This was so wonderful! I would love to see ingenue (youthful) with some examples of women over 50. Thank you!
Im so glad its helping!! And thank you!
I feel like you fit angelic archetype almost perfectly
Great video, just I couldn't help but notice you called the lady at 26:55 Jang Man-Wol. That is the character's name, the actress (and singer!) is a Korean K-pop idol called Lee Ji-Eun, better known as IU. I would not be surprised if her essences were a blend of ethereal, classic and ingenue 😊 She's awesome and Hotel del Luna is the best!
Yes- it was a mistake. I’ve explained it further in the comments. 👍🏻
I think I may have ethereal essence which makes sense to me now you explained this beautifully
I think you defentaley HAVE angelic essence! You are like mermaid like. So beautiful!!!!
Thank you for showing a plus sized ethereal! 🥰
You’re welcome! Im working on a more extensive list of plus sized ethereals as well
I’ve been wearing uggs all my liiiife I feel they fit angelic essence perfectly
I'm short and curvy, so I thought I couldn't have ethereal, but some of these things are my best looks- long flowing hair, halo hair/headpieces, slight sandals with ties/straps, low contrast muted colors, and floaty skirts. I have been told I have a "Greek goddess" look. Thanks!
As someone with a dominant Angelic Essence, I really enjoyed this video. Thanks!
I can't wait to see your breakdown of ingenue!! I think this essence is so difficult to balance with any of the others, since the strong yin can be so easily overwhelmed and contrasted by classic or natural touches.
The winter ethereal outfit was brilliant!
Please do all essences. This video was so interesting to watch!
In movies like "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" or "Crimson Peak" she gives me that vibe.
i very much appreciate the contrasting pictures, when you talk about fabrics and patterns, helps me understand it better.
I'm not an ethereal but I just had too much and I don't regret. Wonderful video💜
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! Now i finally understand why i look better with hairstyles that are flowy/wavy and elongated than i do with voluminous and "smooth" ones, despite being a soft classic
I'm so glad it helped!
Also, I’m a flamboyant natural, and I’ve worn the jumpsuit outfit you mention in the video! Jumpsuits are another mainstay for me.
Yes please re video on evaluating outfit photos!
These archetypes makes so much more sense than choosing a specific aesthetic! I definitely resonate to the ethereal vibe and it explains why I'm attracted to certain fabrics and silhouettes regardless of the occasion or the feeling of the outfit. Thank you ❤
I totally agree!
you look SO good in this white outfit in 13:58 daaamnnn
thank you!
This is the best video!! I really needed help combining the ethereal essence with cold weather. 🙌
I love that you included people of color as well as bigger girls in your examples. In all the articles I've read about, I have only seen blonde white people (like me, oops :x). I'm glad to know how this essence appears on a wider variety of people.
Wow thanks for your work
Always knew about myself I have an ethereal essence
But you video made me clarify it
Thank you so much for this wonderful video!!
Your videos are like courses in and of themselves. Thank you for your work!!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you're finding them helpful and in-depth. That's my goal😊
That's an astute observation 🙂
I think naturals in general can wear natural fabrics well so silk would qualify! 😊

For a soft natural, silk absolutely works.
I might be biased, but It fit perfectly 😊
Oh, and would you say Björk has an ethereal essence? I often get told I look like her, when she was younger😂
Yes definitely - she’s higher contrast but definitely some ethereal imo
This is fantastic. Seriously. If you plan to tackle all the essences, I cannot wait.
